“What do you mean he’s coming up here? You can’t have him come up here! Spencer, tell me you’re joking.” Nia’s voice was the first thing Naida heard as she exited the elevator, clinging tightly to Jeremy’s hand.
The other elevator opened and Andy and Hayley stepped out. Hayley was the first to see Jeremy and Naida. “Naida? Are you okay?”
Naida nodded. “Yeah, I’m fine as long as I stay in constant contact with Jeremy. Some situation I’m in, huh? Do I know you?”
“Oh, I’m Hayley Williams. We met downstairs when you were having an attack. I healed your scars.”
Naida looked down and used her free hand to lift up her skirt and look at the perfection of her legs. She wiped the tears from her eyes and took Hayley’s hand with her free one, giving it a squeeze. “Thank you, Hayley.”
“No problem, Naida. I only want to help.” Hayley jumped as Andy put a hand on her shoulder. “Oh, this is my dad, Andy Mackintosh.”
“It’s nice to meet you while you’re sane, Naida.”
“Nice to meet you too, Andy.” Naida jumped and moved closer to Jeremy as something crashed in Rick’s office.
“Anthony Iero is not going to get up here! That’s not going to happen!” Nia’s voice was louder than Naida had ever heard it. “I will not have Alex exposed to that bastard of a grandfather of his.”
Rick’s voice was muffled as he spoke, but it didn’t seem to calm Nia down. “No, no, no! Can’t we stop it?”
“Mom! Shut up!” Alex’s voice rose over his mother’s. “Let him come! We’ve dealt with worse before.”
Hayley was moving toward the door, speaking before she even cleared the doorway. “Anthony Iero? The dragon from Hell, Anthony Iero?”
“How would you know him, sweetheart?” Nia’s voice was still loud and hysterical, but it softened at Hayley’s appearance.
“He’s my biological father.” Silence. It was so thick that Naida had to listen carefully to the sound of Jeremy’s breathing to find out if she had gone deaf.
Jeremy took a deep breath as everyone who seemed to be in Rick’s office started to talk at once. Hayley was pulled into Alex’s arms, Spencer walked out shaking his head, and Rick was yelling for everyone to calm down.
As soon as Spencer cleared the door, he spotted Naida standing by the elevators with Jeremy. He came storming towards her and she flinched, pulling behind Jeremy for protection. This gave Spencer pause. “Naida? What are you doing out of the containment cells?”
“She’s looking for a way to be sane again.” Jeremy spoke for her, keeping her behind him. “Don’t come at her like that. She hasn’t purposefully done anything to you. She can’t help what she says when she’s gone.”
“But she’s Naida now, right?”
“Yes, Spencer, I am.” Naida kept a death grip on Jeremy’s hand, but came around to face Spencer, tears in her eyes. “I’m sorry, Spencer. It’s not your fault I’m like this. I didn’t mean what I said.”
“Shh, shh, Nay, it’s alright.” Spencer wrapped his arms around his sister, a little hindered by the fact that she wouldn’t let go of Jeremy, but he managed to comfort her. “I knew that wasn’t you. I knew you would never think horribly of me.”
Naida’s grip on Jeremy’s hand loosened a little and then slipped away and she shoved Spencer hard onto the floor. “Foolish, foolish demon!”
Jeremy recovered quickly and grabbed her, slipping his hand into one of the holes in her dress at her stomach, touching bare skin. “Naida, calm. I’m here. I’m sorry. I forgot for a moment.”
Naida’s eyes went back to calm and she looked at Spencer, shaking her head. “I’m sorry, so sorry. I wanted to hug you so bad, I let go.”
Spencer stood and looked at Jeremy. “Am I missing something?”
“I can’t stop touching his bare skin or I’ll go away again, Spencer. I don’t know why, but I know that I have to figure out how to fix this before it gets out of control.”
“We’re here to help you, baby.” Rick came around the corner. Apparently, Naida had hit Spencer hard enough to make a great deal of noise and attract attention. “I knew that you couldn’t be crazy. I knew there was something else going on there.”
Rick walked over to Naida and kissed her on the cheek, though he made sure not to move her away from Jeremy. “Papa, I’m sorry about earlier. I …”
Rick put his fingers on her lips and shook his head. “Don’t, Nay. I knew it wasn’t you. You have already been forgiven.”
“That still doesn’t help us with the other problem, Rick.” Nia walked over to Naida and gave her half a hug. “Though it is wonderful to have you back, Nay.”
“Amen to that.” Alex walked over and planted one on Naida’s lips. Bill was close to follow suit.
“Billy! Stop. That’s just weird. It’s like kissing your brother and his boyfriend.” Naida wiped her mouth and shook her head, laughing softly. “That’s the first time I’ve laughed since Jon was taken from me.”
Everyone grew silent, looking at the floor. She leaned into Jeremy, afraid to move too far away, and let the silence fill the room. They were having an unspoken moment of silence for Jon and the baby.
Naida was the first to recover, wiping the tears from her eyes. “Nia is right. We have other things to deal with. Did I hear something about a dragon from Hell?”
“Yeah.” Alex was the first to stop looking at Naida like she had sprouted a head. She had never been one to take up the reigns. “My grandfather. He’s a raunchy torturous bastard who kept Spencer for what amounted to a hundred thousand years.”
“Great. One problem at a time. How long do we have until he gets here?” Naida couldn’t help but feel the heat coming off Jeremy’s hand where it rest on her stomach. She looked into his eyes and saw the small smile cross his face, letting her know he felt it too.
“A few days, a week at the most. He was talking about going through Contract Valley, and that was a week ago. It takes two weeks to get through the barriers into the Valley.” Spencer looked down at his feet in concentration, trying to remember what all had been said. “Yeah. A week.”
Naida felt dizzy and lost her balance, only staying up by Jeremy’s hands on her body. He looked at her and she shook her head. “Then I guess the first problem we have to deal with is me. I need to sleep without the crazy in me. Someone show Jeremy where the caverns are so I can get some rest. You’ll stay with me, right, Jeremy?”
“Of course, Naida, but why can’t you show me the caverns yourself?”
Naida smiled and lost all consciousness falling full against him. He sighed and scooped her up, taking her to the elevator. “Who’s going to show me the way?”
Alex was more than willing to volunteer to show Jeremy where Naida’s home was, even giving him the pass code to get her there if they didn’t find a cure for her in the next few days.
Jeremy laid Naida gently on the bed, watching her twitch a little as he let go of her hand, but she remained unconscious. He walked Alex to the door and stopped him with a hand on his arm. “Alex, I need you to keep everyone away from here until Naida and I come up ourselves. I don’t think this is something anyone else can help her with. I think she’s just got to figure it out herself.”
Alex nodded and glanced at Naida. “OK, Jeremy. Take care of her. You don’t know how important she is to the rest of us.”
Jeremy nodded and locked the door behind Alex, walking back over to the bed and sighing as he pulled the blanket over Naida’s unconscious body. He took her hand and she instantly stilled, sleeping soundly. He laid his head beside hers and closed his eyes, falling asleep himself.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Jeremy woke up and flexed his hand, but felt nothing. He sat bolt upright and found Naida curled up in a corner. “Naida, why don’t you come back to bed?”
Naida looked up at him and smiled, standing and walking toward him. “Come to bed with you? Do you want this, Jeremy?” Naida lifted the tattered dress a little, showing her legs. “Do you want this body?”
She pulled the dress quickly over her head and walked to him, leaning down, but not touching him yet. “Do you want to be buried deep inside this frail prison?” She pushed her seduction powers into him, willing him to take that last move toward her and kiss her, but he was unmoved. She frowned and moved instead to kiss him.
The instant her lips touched his, she knew what the cure was. She pulled back, but kept her hands on his face. “I know how to cure myself, Jeremy.”
Jeremy sighed in relief that she was coming into herself. He had felt the power and didn’t know how much longer he could have resisted her power or the nude body she was flaunting in front of him. “How, Naida? I’ll help any way I can.”
Naida looked down into his eyes and sighed. “I don’t know why I didn’t see it all those years ago, Jeremy. You’re in love with me. For how long?”
Jeremy blushed, but answered. “Since that night I caught you on the beach with you tail. It was one of the reasons I always hung out with you. I knew you were as different as I was. I fell for your personality and sense of humor, but it was that night that made me realize just how in love with you I was.”
Naida felt the tears come to her eyes as she stood over him and shook her head. “You’re the cure, Jeremy. Your love is the cure. I went insane because of my own magic. I had lost Jon and the baby, and I thought that I would never find anyone to ever be in love with me again. I made myself go insane. You can make it better.”
“What do I have to do?” Jeremy looked confused, anxious, and scared all at the same time. It was cute. Naida had never thought she would ever think of her best friend from combat training as cute, but in that moment, he was.
“Just love me, Jeremy. Show me what it’s like to be loved.” Naida leaned into him and kissed him again, feeling him hesitate before he returned the kiss, pulling her into his lap.
She was a little nervous as he moved her to lay flat on the bed, but hid it well, pulling his shirt over his head in the moment that their kiss was separated. She held a hand to his chest as he moved to take his pants off. He moved to lie beside her on the bed, hand on her stomach, but didn’t move to do anything else. “Are you sure about this, Naida? What if I’m not the cure? What if I do this and you’re still insane? It would be like rape.”
Naida leaned up and kissed him gently. “I can see the love for me in your eyes, Jeremy. I can feel it in the way you touch me. I know this is right. I’m positive about this.”
She kissed him again, running her hand down his body to find him hard and ready. She looked down the length of his body and blushed slightly at the sheer size of him. Looking back into his eyes, she brushed her fingertips gently over the head of his erection, watching the pleasure wash across his face. “You can’t rape the willing, Jeremy.”
Jeremy grabbed her hand and pulled it back up between their chests. “What will it mean for us afterwards, Naida? I need to know that you’re not going to be with me just because you want to be cured.”
Naida looked at him and seemed to think about it. Could she see herself spending the rest of her life with Jeremy? In a weird way, yes, she could. She smiled and let him see what she was thinking on her face. “You are not just a cure, Jeremy. You’re Jeremy Davis, the boy who saved me from bullies, who held me when I cried, who loved me when no one else would. I can say with certainty that you won’t be able to get rid of me after this.”
Jeremy smiled and kissed her. He rolled onto her, an arm touching either side of her body. He moved his knees between her legs, but she was more than willing to open up to him. He raised an eyebrow, but shook his head. “I know you may not feel this way yet, Naida, but I need you to know that I love you before I do this.”
Naida nodded, though she felt herself speaking in truth. “I love you too, Jeremy.”
She saw the shock register on his face, but he didn’t let it bother him for long. He moved so that she could feel the smooth hardness of his erection pushing against her moist opening. He barely slid himself inside her and she shuttered, feeling a little power leave her.
She gasped as he thrust himself inside her, all pretense of teasing gone. He looked down into her face and brushed a few strands of hair out of her eyes. “Did I hurt you?”
“No, no.” Naida shook her head, moving her hips up to meet his to let him know that pain had not been what she had felt.
He smiled and pulled himself out of her gently. He pushed himself back into her and developed a steady rhythm, her hips moving up to meet his to make the rhythm all the more intense for both of them.
Their breathing became labored and she could feel the pressure building inside her, calling to the power that was keeping her from being sane. He gave that final thrust as she screamed as the power poured from her mouth and washed over them both in one mild boggling orgasm after another until he collapsed on top of her, unable to move.
She wrapped her arms around him and lay there, listening to the sound of her heart pounding her ears. He was still deep inside her and every shuttering breath from him caused her to convulse again. She knew that she would hurt all over, but she felt good about that fact.
She heard him breathe in deep and move enough to pull himself as gently as possible out of her, though it still caused her to cry out in pleasure. He moved to lie beside her and looked down at her, his hand on her stomach. “Are you okay, Naida?”
“You have no idea, Jeremy.”
Jeremy smiled and leaned down, kissing her gently. She returned the kiss and wrapped her arm around his back, pulling him to her. He pulled back and smiled. “I guess I’m growing on you, aren’t I?”
“I think I want to keep you around, Jeremy. You’re entertaining, to say the very least.” Naida smiled and then shook her head, moving to get out of the bed. “I need to get cleaned up. Those ratty clothes on top of sex aren’t doing anything to help the way I feel right now.”
Jeremy let Naida get out of the bed then remembered why they had just done what they had done. “Naida?”
“Yes?” Naida stopped in the doorway of the bathroom and turned back to look at Jeremy. Her heart leapt at the sight of him laying naked on her bed and she felt a pang of guilt over that, but she knew that Jon would want her happy.
“You’re not blabbing about killing people.”
Naida felt the shocked expression go across her face and smiled, running to him and throwing her arms around his neck, kissing him hard. “I told you that you were my cure!”
She felt the familiar sensation of him hard against her body and smiled, shaking her head. “Mr. Davis, I believe that you’re trying to get into my pants again.”
“I believe I am, Mrs. Walker.”
Naida kissed him and moved her body a little against him. “You don’t have to try too hard, do you?”
Jeremy laughed and rolled her over, intent on giving her just what she wanted and more. If love was all he had to give her to keep her sane, he would give it to her in abundance from this moment on. They just had to go let the others know. They could always do that later. Much later.
