Y'all: Serious thanks for the compliments, encouragement, and taking the time to read this. BTW, I noticed I used the same chapter title twice. Well, almost. That was an important question mark. Ha. Anyway. Whoops. And sorry...More important, more story for y'all. Enjoy!

Kelly let out a contented sigh as Carrie drapped her arm around her waist. "Comfy," she teased the blonde, squeezing her playfully.
"Actually, yeah," she admitted looking at the side of her face. "Just...different."
Kelly laughed. "Yeah, definitely."
"But a good different...you know?" she added reaching for Kelly's right hand. "They're just about the same size," she marveled, as she held her hand up and pressed it to the Texan's.
"Yeah," she agreed. "Except you have skinnier fingers than me. Mine are more stubby."
Carrie smiled. "Aw, but I like your hands." She moved to intertwine their fingers. Both were liking this new closeness.
"So, change of subject," Kelly squeezed the blonde's hand. "Tell me about your week?"
Carrie stretched and nestled more closely. "Oh, it was fun. A little busy, you know. I worked on a few songs with the writers, did some interviews for Country Weekly, Cosmo, People, AOL Music, had a photoshoot with Shape, and shot a piece for CMT."
"Whoa...all that in a week?" Kelly asked.
There was a giggle. "What can I say? Everyone wants a piece of Carrie Underwood these days," she winked.
"Really now? What about me?" Kelly pulled away playfully.
"Oh, no. You're not the jealous type...are ya?" Carrie teased.
"Hey!" Kelly poked her ribs, making her squirm. "Nah...not really."
"Good," the blonde settled back into her spot next to Kelly. "Besides, you don't get Carrie Underwood. You get me...Carrie." She giggled at the confused look she got in response. "Well, that person onstage says the right things and does the right things. And you know, that person’s cool. This person’s not,” Carrie pointed to herself. "This Carrie is human with plenty of flaws."
Kelly stared in awe. "And I'm looking forward to discovering every one of 'em. Ouch!" she squealed as Carrie poked her. "I was kidding. Trust me, I've got plenty of my own. I'm a germaphobe, I don't believe in hangers, I'm kinda messy...."
"Whoa, slow down," Carrie laughed. "You're making me reconsider this..."
Kelly's face fell, and the blonde pinched her side. "I'm just kidding." She gently turned her head for a brief kiss. They pulled away as they heard the sounds of footsteps through the house. But they were still holding each other when Ashley peeked her head in to the porch.
"I knew it," she crowed, smiling brightly.
"Uh...." Carrie started to quickly move away from Kelly.
"Oh, please, y'all. No worries." Ashley waved her hand dismissively as Kelly looked on surprised.
"'Sides, you're hot!" Ashley pointed at Carrie.
Both girls blushed a deep crimson. "What?" Kelly asked.
"Gotcha," Ashley laughed. "Y'all's faces were priceless. Anyway. Carry on. I just needed some water, but I'm definitely not done sleeping." Ashley walked away from the doorway, giggling to herself.
Carrie turned to Kelly, "What'd you do, drug her?"
Kelly laughed. "Nope. She's like that sometimes...sleeps for days. Good thing I don't need her to do my make-up today."
"Hmm...now, where were we?" Carrie smirked.

That afternoon, Jason finally returned home. He walked in to find Carrie and Kelly sitting on the couch. Kelly was strumming the guitar as she gently sang, "Don't move....I want to remember you just like this...Don't move...It's only a breath or two between our lips..."
He stared confused at the scene before him. "Hey, Kel. Wow, I hadn't heard you sing that since the tour ended."
"Yeah," she stopped and put the guitar down as she looked up at him. "I felt like busting out an old one. Thought I'd share some stuff with Carrie. Plus, she told me she'd never heard it."
"Cool," he replied, eyeing the blonde. "Hey Carrie. Good seeing you again."
"You too," came the response.
Jason sat accross from them. "So, I'm gonna be boring and talk shop."
Kelly smiled. "Party pooper."
"Anyway," he ignored the comment. "I talked to Narvel. He's gonna confirm with the label, but it doesn't sound like it'll be a big deal to have another session with Mike."
Kelly's eyes lit up. "Aw, that's awesome!"
"Yeah, so we can probably head back to Australia in a couple weeks," he nodded.
Carrie smiled and turned to Kelly. "Australia?"
Kelly beamed. "Surprise!"
Carrie lunged and wrapped her into a hug, leaving Jason utterly confused.
"Um, alright," he spoke up as he got up. "Anyway, I'm gonna go get some sleep. I'm beat. I can't see how you can be so excited to go back, considering we just got home."
"Yeah, well, this one," Kelly poked the blonde next to her. "Is also going to be there."
"Awesome," Jason smiled. "Maybe we can all meet up a time or two down there?"
The girls laughed. "Yeah, I'm sure we arrange that," Carrie giggled.
"I'll keep you posted on the plans, Kel," he said walking out.
Carrie repositioned herself on the couch and gestured with her arm as she wrapped it around Kelly. "So, is this your clever plan to spy on me?" the blonde teased.
Kelly sighed at the contact, leaning on Carrie's side. "Nope. I actually have been feeling very inspired to write...for some odd reason." That earned her a playful squeeze to her arm. "I was kinda bummed that I was there for only a week....but I can't say I'm too bummed out about coming home."
The blonde smiled. "Well, good. 'Cause I'm definitely glad you came home when you did. So, what's the plan?"
"Well, once they clear it, which, I'm sure they will, we'll be good to go."
"Yay!"
Kelly giggled. "Yeah, so let me know your travel plans and I'll see what I can do about coincidentally running into you there. I mean, I can't guarantee it'll be exact, but I'll try."
"Deal. I believe I'm staying at the Intercontinental, but I'll check with Matt on the exact dates and let you know."
"Cool."
"Speaking off...I need to get going," Carrie fessed up.
"Um, ok...random!"
"Ha," Carrie chuckled. "Well, see, I may be the boss...but all I could afford was until now. I've gotta meet up with Keith and Ann. They want to go over the plans for the trip."
"You lied, didn't you?" the Texan laughed.
"No..." Kelly shook her head in disbelief. "Ok, maybe a little bit. I mean, so what if I called in sick?"
"Oh, Carrie...," was the reprimand.
"Hey now. I just rescheduled for now. I guess I didn't wanna miss you coming back."
Kelly glowed. "Aw, why you gotta be so cute?" She leaned in for a sweet kiss.
The blonde smiled into the kiss, before speaking. "See? Glad I did. And to answer your question, I don't know...but if that's the response I get, I may try it more often."
She pulled back and stood. "I really hate to go, but work calls. I'll call you when I can so we can meet up or something. I mean, you still haven't passed the ultimate test yet."
"What's that?" Kelly asked curiously.
"Ace...I don't get involved with anyone he doesn't approve of..." she trailed off as she grabbed her purse and walked towards the door.
Kelly raced to catch up with her. "Are you serious?"
Carrie turned and kissed her cheek as she reached the doorknob. "Yup," she answered simply as she left, leaving a stunned Texan behind.
========
After their brief time together, the girls had been caught in a whirlwind of meetings. They were in the same town, but hadn't been able to see each other in almost a week. They would call and text each other between meetings, but were getting frustrated at the lack of free time.
As had become their routine, Carrie called Kelly before getting ready for bed. She got herself settled on her couch and dialed the familiar number.
"Hey, babe," she greeted the Texan. "What are you doing?"
"Well, hello to you too!"
"Oh, hi." she giggled. "How are you?"
"I'm good. Just laying here watching some Designing Women. You?"
"Excuse me?" Carrie laughed loudly. "Did you say Designing Women?"
"Um, yeah. You've never seen it?"
"Um, nope."
"Well, it's hysterical," Kelly added as she stopped her DVR. "We'll share it sometime. Anyway. How was today?"
"Come over?" the blonde interrupted.
"Huh?"
"You wanna come over?"
"Now?" Kelly asked glancing at the clock on the wall. "It's almost two in the morning...."
"I know," Carrie sighed. "But I haven't seen you in days. I miss being around you."
There was no way the Texan could resist that. "Ok," she agreed. "I miss you too. So, text me your address and I'll be there in a few?"
"Yay," was the blonde's excited response. "Ok, I will see you in a bit."
"Deal."
"Bye."
Kelly laughed at herself, thinking it was a crazy idea, but going along for the ride. She definitely wasn't expecting Carrie to be so spontaneous, but she liked it. She gathered her purse, keys, and hoodie and went on her way. She was careful not to wake anyone as she didn't want to answer where she was headed. Not that anyone really kept tabs on her, but it'd be interesting having to explain the "sudden" need to see Carrie. She laughed to herself as she got in her car.
======
Carrie didn't know what to do to keep herself calm so she walked into the kitchen to open up a bottle of red wine. She brought a tray with the bottle and two glasses into the living room to wait for Kelly. As she was about to get comfortable, she heard the doorbell.
"Hi," she greeted the Texan. "That didn't take long..." She gave her a quick hug and ushered her into the house.
"Yeah, well-"
Once the door was closed behind them, she quickly pushed Kelly against it, planting a firm kiss on the shocked girl's lips. When they finally pulled apart, it took them both a few moments to catch their breath.
"So..." Kelly spoke up, "Good to see you too."
A deep blush covered Carrie's cheeks. "Hi. I'm sorry..."
"Sorry?!" Kelly asked horrified. "What's there to be sorry for? I loved that greeting!"
The blonde smiled shyly. "Good. I mean, I don't know what happened. That certainly wasn't the plan, but I just saw you and couldn't help myself."
Kelly smiled and winked at the girl in front of her. "It's ok...trust me." She reached her arms to the blonde and pulled her into a hug, whispering: "I like having that effect on you." She moved back with a laugh.
The whole exchange left a confused and flushed Carrie. "Here, come in, make yourself comfortable." The blonde took her hand and guided her into the living room. It had a modern, clean feel and was decorated in shades of blues and white.
Kelly noticed the wine already waiting on the glass table in front of the couch. "So, what's this," she asked, taking the bottle in her hand. "Are you trying to get me drunk?"
Carrie walked towards her and took the bottle from Kelly's hand. "No. I sometimes have a glass to unwind after a long day..."
"Oh."
"But if you are thinking I'm trying to seduce you...by all means," Carrie winked.
"Uhh..." Kelly wasn't sure how to deal with everything that was going on in front of her. Here she was with Carrie, trading sexual banter and it sort of hit her.
Carrie noticed the sudden change in mood, so she put the bottle back on the coffee table and took Kelly's hand. She guided them to the couch. "Hey, are you ok?"
Kelly sighed and looked right into Carrie's eyes without saying a word.
"Kel?" Carrie's tone grew even more concerned. "Talk to me?"
"I'm ok," she whispered. "I just...."
"I'm sorry," Carrie apologized.
"No," the Texan shook her head. "You don't have to apologize. I guess I'm still processing everything, you know?"
"I do. And it's ok. There's no need to rush this....whatever this is." That finally earned her a smile from Kelly.
"So," Kelly looked around. "It may be a moot point, anyway, right? Haven't passed the test yet. So, where's the one who determines my fate?"
Carrie laughed. "I let him out before you got here. Hold on." She walked to the back door to let Ace back in. "Here boy!" she yelled out. He came running and into the house.
When Carrie turned around to introduce her dog to Kelly, she was surprised to discover that the Texan was sitting on the floor. She silently watched the scene that began to unfold.
Ace walked over to Kelly and she extended her hand. It seemed to scare him as he pulled back.
"Hi Ace," she cooed.
The terrier took a few steps back towards her and sniffer her hand. She gently turned her open hand and was able to pet him. While she was petting him, she reached into her pocket and pulled out a vegan dog treat for him. He sniffed and took it, wagging his tail.
Carrie laughed. "That's cheating," she teased.
"Hey, I had to make sure he liked me."
Kelly got her answer when he came back to her, crawled her leg and licked her cheek.
"Well," the blonde chimed in, taking a seat on the floor next to the girl. "I'd say he does."
"Good," Kelly smiled, putting her hand on Carrie's thigh. "I like him too. So," she turned to face Carrie. "I passed?"
"With flying colors."
"Yay," the Texan cheered. She got closer to Carrie, put her hand behind her neck and pulled her in for a kiss.
