ok, so i know at least one of y'all is going to question it after reading this, because i did too, lol, so brief explanation: yes, they could've gone to a hospital in dallas, but technically they wouldn't be able to do anything without Alex's doctors over there. Plus, a regular hospital isn't really equipped for this sort of thing. and this explanation probably wont make sense until after you read the update, lol, so enjoy.

"You're playing so cool,
Obeying every rule.
Dig way down in your heart,
You're yearning, burning for some
Somebody to tell you
That life ain't passing you by."

Dr. Lansing rushed into the bathroom, Carrie, Jason, and Ashley right behind her. She took a deep breath as she knelt down in front of Kelly, her voice gentle, "Ok, now I need you to tell me what happened."
"I-I don't know," Kelly replied, her voice wavering. "I was taking a nap...and I woke up and came checked on her...she-she wasn't in her bed...I found her in here."
"Ok, it's ok. Was she passed out or..."
"She was throwing up...a lot."
Dr. Lansing frowned slightly as she studied the girl in the Texan's arms. She reached out, checking her pulse, "Ok, now don't panic, that's the last thing you need to do because she'll read that, but we need to get her back to the hospital the fastest way we can."
Jason already had his phone out, searching the internet, shaking his head, "There's nothing until tomorrow afternoon."
"You checked Dallas? Houston?" Kelly questioned.
"There's no flights," he shook his head, eyeing the sleeping child in his sister's arms nervously.
"What about you?" Dr. Lansing asked her. "You don't have a jet or anything?"
"I already told you I'm not like that," Kelly narrowed her eyes.
"Kell..." Carrie said softly.
Kelly sighed. "I'm sorry...I just," her voice caught. "Even if I did have a jet, or even if there were seats available, there's still no way a flight would be taking off right now. Not in this weather."
"Well, then we drive," Jason nodded.
"Drive?" Ashley questioned. "That's a good ten, eleven hour drive."
"We don't have much of a choice. We'll get there before a plane from over here even takes off," he replied before turning back to Kelly. "I promise you I'll get us there as fast as possible."
Kelly nodded, looking at Dr. Lansing.
"Ok then, we'd better hurry," she replied, standing. "You have a vehicle big enough for all of us?"
"Yea."

Kelly stood waiting with Alex wrapped in a warm blanket in her arms, her head resting on her shoulder.
"I got her bag," Carrie said, joining Kelly on the front porch, the sound of the rain beating on the overhang above them, nearly deafening.
Kelly nodded.
"Is there anything Dr. Lansing can give her?"
Kelly felt her eyes burning as she shook her head, "Any more pain medicine is only gonna make her sick again, and we can't give her anything for her stomach because she's already on so many other medications."
"Shh," Carrie soothed at the sight of tears falling down her cheeks. She placed a hand on Kelly's back as she leaned to her, kissing her temple before bringing her lips to her ear, whispering softly.
Dr. Lansing walked out, watching as Carrie continued to whisper in her ear, Kelly nodding every so often.
"You don't question it," Ashley said softly, shaking her head as she stepped behind her.
"It's an odd relationship those two have," the doctor noted.
"Whenever somebody is able to have the affect on her that Carrie does, you just don't question it."
Dr. Lansing nodded watching as Jason pulled up in a new Ford Explorer.
"When did it come in?" Ashley asked, stepping on the other side of Kelly.
Carrie whispered one last thing, earning a final nod before pulling away.
"Um, I guess it came in when we were in Tennessee," Kelly shrugged, visibly calmer.
"You guess?" Dr. Lansing asked curiously. "Wouldn't you know when a brand new SUV that you paid for was dropped off at your house?"
"I didn't pay for it," Kelly replied simply. "That's one of the perks of being sponsored by a auto-manufacturing company. They heard about my old one that I've had for years now that's pretty much dead, next thing I know, I get a call saying I'm getting a new one. I'll never understand why people are always giving artists free stuff when we're the ones who can actually afford it, but whatever."
Dr. Lansing nodded, "Wow."
"They see it as promotion," Carrie explained as Kelly carefully climbed into the back third row with Alex while Ashley hopped in the front passenger seat.
"By giving away a free car?" she asked, following Carrie into the vehicle, sitting with her in the second row.
"They figure hey, if people see so-and-so driving my vehicle or wearing my sunglasses or whatever, then that's going to make other people want to buy it."
"Maybe I should've taken singing lessons instead of done so much homework," Dr. Lansing commented.
Kelly gave a short laugh as she buckled up. She studied the back seat, realizing that there was no way she was going to be able to get Alex to let go of her, let alone sit up by herself, so she just held her tightly, "Be careful Jay."
"Don't worry; I got it," he replied, putting the car into drive.

"How's she doing?" Dr. Lansing asked, sliding into the back as they stopped at a red light.
"She's still pale as a ghost. Her skin's all clammy and cold," Kelly shook her head.
"You're doing fine," Dr. Lansing assured her. "All that we can do until we get her there and give her some proper treatment is keep her calm. The more her heart rate increases, the more energy she uses, the less she has to stay with us."
"Stay with us?" Kelly squeaked.
"Wrong choice of words," the doctor frowned. "Just keep doing what you're doing, ok? Just keep her comfortable and calm."
Kelly nodded, taking a steadying breath.
