Rebecca sat downstairs in her pajamas going through the designs for invitations and such with Ivy, and had already had to take a break to go up to her room and stifle a scream into her pillow at the stress and emotions. But Becca had made it back downstairs without hurting herself or someone else.
“Ivy, you’ve made all the reservations already, haven’t you? Because with the way these places book up, especially with the last of the wedding season ---“
“Of course I have, Bec! You know, lately you’ve been acting really weird. It’s almost like you’re not happy for Pete and me, or that you don’t want to help me plan my wedding. Which is a crock of bullshit if I ever heard any. God, Bec, just trust me with some aspects of my wedding. If you want to be nazi bossy, wait for your own wedding.”
It seemed that Ivy had snapped again, for the countless time already tonight. At the mention of Becca waiting for her own wedding, a bit of the stress caused her to pop. She was suddenly standing, her hands on her hips, giving one of her best friends a death glare.
“Well, you know Ivy, if you hadn’t shoved your wedding in before mine, I would be planning my wedding. But perhaps you don’t remember that you’re not the only one trying to put together a wedding.”
Ivy stood from the chair glaring right back at Becca, despite the small height difference. Becca knew that she had probably just hit a sore spot, and that the planning for the night was done. As it would be hard-pressed to try and calm the two down. Ivy’s emotions were on a crazed rollercoaster, and Becca had been a little crazy emotionally lately too.
“How dare you even suggest that I did this as some sort of heartless thing! After all, it’s not like I really had much of a choice on the matter. I’m going to sorta start showing soon and you know how Mom is. So don’t act like I had any say in the timing matter.”
Becca felt on the edge of tears in frustration, along with the headache from the day still being in appearance. But when angry, she made a vow never to let the other person see her upset, so she bit down on her lower lip, tasting a bit of blood.
“Of course you did, Ivy! You knew there was a chance of getting pregnant before you started messing around with my brother!”
Pete walked into the living room, hearing raised voices, and looked between the two girls. They looked about ready to tear each other’s throats out. And from what he had heard of the shouting match, it was over the common terms of war in the house lately, aka the wedding plannings.
“Becca, that was uncalled for. Do you really think we planned on having to rush around and put a wedding together? No, and I certainly didn’t plan on Poison being pregnant. Honestly, are you PMS-ing or something? Because today has been a bad mood day for you. Worse than the trial and with Aiden. Come to think of it, you’ve been bitchy since the trial. You know, it’s over so get over it, Becca.”
Becca felt her mouth drop open at Pete’s reference to two of the worst parts of her life thus far. How could he even say such a thing?! She felt a little bit more of her reserve and control breaking. Her brother had always been her biggest support system, and now he was turning on her? Naturally this was upsetting.
“How dare you, Peter! I thought that you of all people would know better than to bring up those things. And in case you don’t remember, those were two of the worst parts of my life! Do you know what it’s like to have your best friend who you’ve been dating for a few years drug and rape you before killing themselves? Of course not! So don’t even bring up Aiden ever again, Peter! Because if you do, I swear I’ll ---“
“Becca, please! He didn’t mean it like that. Pete was just saying that everyone’s been crazy lately. So try to be a little understanding and not go crazy on us for doing the best we can.”
“You know, Ivy, if I didn’t know any better I would think we had someone like your mom here. You’re trying awfully hard to pull her mediation shit.”
Before Becca could think much more she felt a hand slap her hard across the face. She turned and glared at Ivy, who was now sporting a reddening palm. Her voice dropped a few decibels and went down to a near whisper, tears now forming in her eyes, not out of hurt but of anger.
“Don’t ever touch me again.”
With that before anyone else could say anything, Becca rushed over to the coffee table by the door where she had dropped her purse after getting in from finishing up with the caterers earlier. She rushed out of the door, ignoring Pete’s footsteps and hurried apologies.
Despite it being pouring raining, Becca walked out to her car and slid in before quickly driving off, narrowly missing Pete as he rushed out to try and get her to stay. When she left her small neighborhood, Becca just drove around for a few minutes trying to calm down and clear her thoughts. She knew that she wouldn’t be going back to her house for the night, but couldn’t think of where to go. Patrick was always welcoming, but she knew he was a little weary of the arguments between Pete and Becca, as he was close to them both. As this argument was not only Pete and Becca but also Ivy, she didn’t want to unwittingly put him in the middle of the argument. Although she didn’t want to bother Ryan and Cat, given it was still in a way their honeymoon, and she didn’t want to go over to Jon’s because there was no telling who would be over there, particularly Mickey. So she finally resigned herself, knowing that Patrick would probably be more upset if she tried to go elsewhere and got hurt rather than coming over to his place. So she found the nearest gas station and pulled in, taking out her cell phone and dialing his number.
