A/N: Okay, so I promised that I would try to get a new chapter before bed, and yep, here it is. *huggles* Enjoy my lovelies! Besides, I didn't want to leave you guys thinking Becca was going to die or such. So as per usual with me, here's a little of the fluffy goodness to tide you over until the next chapter! : D

The first thing that Rebecca noticed was the smell of coffee. That was probably one of the only things that she knew would help get her awake, even after she had taken one of the sleeping pills that her doctor had given her. Slowly she tried to force her eyes open, only managing to get them to flutter a little. Of course this was means for alarm. After all, what happened if she couldn’t wake up? So she gave it a moment before she tried again, this time her eyelids slowly fluttering open. As her eyes readjusted to the light, she gasped. This wasn’t the guest room at Patrick’s place, and that made her panic.
“Oh thank god, she’s awake.”
Becca turned towards where Spencer’s voice came from the doorway and then she realized where she was. She was in the hospital. But why? She turned and saw the worry on Patrick’s face mixed with what looked like a heart-wrenching grief. It hurt her to see him that upset and she gave his hand a light squeeze.
“Reby, don’t ever scare me like that again. Spence, would you mind going to tell Pete she’s awake?” Patrick sighed in relief seeing that she was awake again. He had been so scared that she wasn’t going to wake up that the relief was ecstatic. He leaned over and lightly brushed his lips over hers.
“Patrick, what happened? Why am I in the hospital? What’s going on? Please, just tell me what happened.” Becca was starting to panic as she had never been particularly fond of hospitals, and having woken up to finding herself in the hospital with tubes attached to her wasn’t the best of methods of trying to get over her fear. “Patrick, please.”
At Becca’s panicking, Patrick frowned, wiping the tears that had slid from her eyes. “Shh, Reby. You don’t remember anything?” When Becca shook her head in confusion, Patrick laid his head down on the pillow beside her, not sure what to do about the things the way they were. “You don’t remember taking the sleeping pills?”
When Patrick mentioned her sleeping pills, Becca turned away ashamed that he had found out about her having started to take medicine to sleep without telling him. “I meant to tell you that Dr. Martin had given me the medicine, Patrick. Honest. I just ... well, I didn’t want you to think that I was too stressed or such. I didn’t want you to worry about me. You had enough to worry about.”
Becca started to cry at the expression on Patrick’s face. She hadn’t told him about the pills because she had thought it would make him worry, but now she had caused him to worry about her even more. She shook her head as Patrick tried to wipe the tears from her face. She deserved the tears, because she had stupidly thought that keeping the medication from Patrick would be better for him.
“Reby, I’m not mad at you for not telling me about the medicine. I’m just worried about why you would take almost a week’s worth of the medicine. I thought I had lost you, and that was the scariest thing I’ve ever been through.”
At Patrick’s mention of her taking almost a week’s worth of the medicine, Becca frowned. She hadn’t taken more pills than were prescribed. Oh god, this must have looked like a suicide attempt. At that thought, even more tears flowed down her cheeks. “Patrick, I --- I didn’t. My god, you must think I’m horrid. But I promise you, Patrick. I didn’t take more than the one that was prescribed.”
“But the packet was almost empty. If you hadn’t taken but the one you were prescribed, why was the packet almost empty? I mean, I’m not trying to accuse you or anything. But Reby, you have to admit, this doesn’t exactly sound like the most logical thing. And I’m worried about you.”
Becca shook her head, not wanting to try and figure out what exactly was happening in her life lately. It was too confusing and she just quite frankly didn’t want to sort all of it out. But of course she knew that eventually it would have to be sorted out, just like everything else in life.
“How about we don’t bother with the exacts right now? I’m still a bit tired and the strain of trying to think and remember is not helping a headache these lights are giving me. Would I sound crazy if I asked what time lunch is?” Becca glanced around between Patrick and Spencer, who had just returned.
“Um, Becca, it’s past dinner time. And you just woke up. Thus why we were freaking out earlier, and why you’re in the hospital right now.” Spencer walked over to sit in the chair on the other side of the bed from Patrick. He reached out and brushed the hair out of Becca’s face with a sad smile on his face. “You gave us all a scare. So hopefully you can understand if us macho boys get a little over-protective and caveman, right? Because I’m pretty sure Patrick and Pete will be, and I know for a fact that I’m going to revert back a little. So it looks like you get to deal with a bunch of over-protective cavemen smothering you until we can get back to normal with you.”
Becca laughed slightly at Spencer’s joke, although she knew it was at least partially true. She was pretty sure that Pete would revert to caveman older brother mode, and she was thinking that Patrick might be a little more cautious with her now. And Spence, well, he could just get caveman sometimes. “Great, just what I need, a load of cavemen to beat around with clubs. Goody for me!”
Spencer laughed at Becca’s joke, glad to see that she at least seemed to be getting back to her normal joking self. He turned back to Patrick with a grin. “Oh, Pete says that he’ll be down as soon as he gets a chance. Ivy’s still out for the count. But if Becca’s up for it, I don’t see why she shouldn’t go and make the rounds herself. That and the visitor limit for Becs is up, and we have some highly anxious friends out here.”
Becca looked between the boys in confusion. What were they talking about with Ivy? “Wait, what’s wrong here? And why are you saying Ivy’s still out? What is going on?” Becca felt on the edge of tears again, merely out of frustration that she didn’t know what was going on. She felt lost, and it was not a good thing for her to feel.
Patrick turned back to Becca before taking a deep breath. “Um, Ivy sort of had an accident this afternoon. Well, she’s upstairs, actually. In a room of her own. She fell down the stairs. The baby is fine, she’s fine. Just had a bit of a tumble. That’s why Pete’s not pacing around here beside you. He’s upstairs with Ivy.”
Becca’s mouth dropped open at Patrick’s revelation. Ivy was in the hospital too? Oh god. Things were horridly wrong, and she couldn’t help but feel a little at fault for it. Because apparently she had somehow taken more of the sleep medication than prescribed while asleep last night, leaving her almost dead, according to the way the boys were acting.
“Spencer, can you get someone in here so I can see about getting out of here? Honestly. You should know how much me and hospitals don’t get along. Besides, if Ivy’s in here too, I want to get out safely as quick as I can.” She gave him a pleading look, that wasn’t entirely faked, as she was starting to have the beginnings of freaking out over being in the hospital. She wasn’t exactly afraid of them, she just hated being a patient, as it always made her feel helpless, which triggered another set of bad memories and emotions.
Spencer nodded and left, on a search for a doctor or nurse who could get all the paperwork settled so Becca could be released and on her way. Because nobody wanted her to be in the hospital any longer than absolutely necessary, and they were all certain of that.
