Chapter 7
****** Part 7
Weeks passed and Jade continued to try to do things to let Davey know he was sorry for that night. Davey for his part had accepted the extra attention, not because he thought it was his due, but because he wanted to see what kind of man Jade was really.
Between watching him with Ami, seeing him try to get to know his father again, and hearing what Adam had heard from the staff of the palace, Davey felt that Jade might not be a bad man.
"David?"
Jade's voice made him look up from where he had been playing with his belt and smile. "Yes?"
"I was wondering if you would like to go flying with me?" Jade stubbed his toes a little and Davey could tell by the way his wings were poised he was hoping Davey would say yes.
"I'd like that... I haven't had the chance to fly since I got here. Just allow me to get Ami, she needs to start-" Davey was cut off by Jade shaking his head.
"She's at a fitting."
Davey shook his head. "How many clothes does she need?"
"I personally think she has enough, but Father ordered this set. Also... I was hoping it would just be us." Jade stubbed his toe some more before looking up.
"Okay." Davey murmured smiling at Jade before taking the arm his bond mate presented him.

Jade watched as Davey lifted and spread his wings before taking a mad leap off of the roof of the palace. He couldn't help but chuckle as he took the same leap and followed Davey.
Davey laughed and spun a few quick circles before shifting his flight to float beside Jade on a great up current.
"You seem happy." Jade commented as they flew out over the city and then to the forest that separated their kingdoms.
"I am... You're not such a bad man." Davey told him just loud enough for Jade to hear over the winds.
Jade felt his heart swell and he did a quick barrel-roll just for the joy he felt inside.
Davey gasped and chuckled before shaking his head and the two flew on.

"Adam... I think I might be falling for him." Davey said as he lay with his head on Adam's shoulder.
The prince's man servant raised an eye brow and looked at his companion. "Why do you say that?"
"He's sweet and kind, he loves Ami... His people all love and respect him... He's noble..." Davey said in a rush, then blushed. "I sound like a love struck child."
"Well... the love-struck part I'll agree with. I think you should tell him. I've been talking with a close friend of his in the palace. Hunter claims he's a great man." Adam told Davey as the kitchen worker had told him.
Davey sat up and gave his friend a look. "Oh... Hunter is it... Isn't that the one you've been trying to bed?"
Adam's blush answered his question and Davey grinned. "So... tell me all about this Hunter."
With a cornered look Adam stuttered out a physical description and once he got into talking about the man in question, Adam lost the stutter and told Davey everything he knew about Hunter.

Davey was bathing when noticed the wedding dye was almost gone from his wings. He hoped that Jade wouldn't notice the single black one in the lot. He still didn't know how that had gotten there. He knew it had something to do with the little Black Wing boy who had found him the day he had been knocked from the air. Maybe Jade would be able to find that little boy. Davey had imagined over the years that the little boy had been his friend and all of the adventures they had gone on...
Grinning Davey shook his head and stood just as the door came open.
Jade walked in and smiled at Davey until he noticed his state of undress. He quickly covered his eyes and shut the door behind him. "Sorry, D."
."
"It's okay, master." Davey told him softly as he stepped out of the bath and walked over to where his robe hung. He slipped it on quickly and then said to Jade, "It's okay. I'm covered."
Jade lowered his hand and smiled at Davey then gently pulled him over the window seat and sat with him. "David... please don't call me master... it makes me a little sick when you do."
"Oh..." Davey didn't know what to say but then recovered. "Okay, Jade... Why don't you call me Davey... it's what my friends call me."
"Davey." Jade tasted it slowly and then nodded. "Thank you."
