Chapter Seven
Kian sat on the floor as he stared at his phone in his hands. He was fighting a battle with himself whether or not to call Emmy. It had been three days since he’s seen her. Normally going three days without seeing someone wasn’t such a big deal. Now three days without talking to her was slowly killing him inside. Finally giving into the temptation, he looked up to make sure the coast was clear.
They were right in the middle of dance rehearsal and Priscilla was once again trying to teach Mark how to do a step. Kian grinned as he snickered. Poor Priscilla would be busy for at least fifteen minutes. Reaching up Kian pulled the cap he wore on his head down to help cover his face. He smiled as he touched the worn material. The cap he wore was the one he had stolen from Emmy just a couple of days before.
He knew that he only had a small break before he would be required to get up and start shaking his ass again. Just as he began to dial the phone, someone plopped down next to him.
“Whatcha doin’?” Bryan leaned over and was suddenly interested in what Kian was doing.
“None of your fuckin’ business. Now get lost.” Kian tried to hide the phone under his blue jacket.
“You’re a shitty liar. What are ya doin’?” Bryan asked as he tried to lift up the jacket.
“Stop it ya fuckin’ deutz!” Kian hissed as he clutched the phone to his chest.
Bryan’s eyes lit up. “Ooo who ya callin’? Does Priscilla know that you’re slackin’ off?”
“No, she’s busy with Mark and it’s none of your fuckin’ business.” Kian glared at him.
“If ya don’t tell me, I’m tellin’.” Bryan smirked.
Kian lifted his head and glared at his friend. “You’re a pain in the ass, do ya know that?” When he saw that Bryan wasn’t going to give up, he sighed angrily. “I’m callin’ Emmy, ok?”
“Go ahead and make your call. I’ll keep a lookout.” Bryan began to look left and then right, doing his best secret agent impression while humming the Mission: Impossible theme song.
Kian rolled his eyes as he quickly dialed the phone. Then it began to ring. He bit his lip as he waited for someone to pickup on the other end. With each ring his heart grew heavier and heavier. What if she wasn’t home? If she wasn’t home, where the fuck was she?
“Hello?” A soft feminine voice called out from the other line.
“Hello, Little One.” Kian whispered. Then he saw Bryan trying hard not to snicker, so he reached out and punched him in the arm.
“Kian?” Emmy’s voice sounded surprised on the other end.
“You sound surprised?” Kian didn’t know whether to be angry or hurt. “You didn’t think I would call ya?”
“Honestly? I thought maybe you would be too busy.” Emmy admitted.
“I’m never too busy for you, Emmy.” Kian was trying to ignore the kissy faces that Bryan was making. “Are ya busy? If you are busy, I can let ya go…”
“No, I’m not busy. Bridget and I were…um just spending some time together.” Emmy rushed on as she laughed nervously.
“You and Bridget, eh? Just what were ya watchin’?” Kian suddenly got a huge grin on his face, as he knew exactly what she was doing. When there was silence, Kian started to laugh. “Tell your cousin that Shane is dancin’ with Mark, waltzin’ actually. They make a cute couple.”
Emmy’s laughter filled his ear. “Kian Egan that’s not nice. For your information, we weren’t watching Shane.”
“Really? Just who were ya watchin’ then?” Kian threw back.
“I was watching…you ok? I was watching you.” Emmy practically whispered into the phone.
Hearing her confession, Kian could hold back the cocky smile. “Miss me that much?”
“Yea, I do. I miss you a lot.” Emmy’s voice instantly sounded sad. “A part of me wishes I could be there.”
Hearing the sadness in her voice, Kian swallowed hard. His mind began to drift back to the night they said goodbye. Then there was the kiss. He closed his eyes as he began to relive the kiss in his mind. God, how he wanted her here so he could kiss her again. “I wish you were here too, Little One.”
“It must be so cool to travel to all those places.” Emmy mused.
“You know what? I’m gonna make a movie for ya.” Kian adjusted the phone on his ear. He glared at Bryan as Bryan started to lick his lips and blow kisses at Kian.
“What kind of movie?” Emmy asked as she softly laughed into the receiver.
“I’m gonna film this tour with me video camera. I’m gonna bring the tour to ya. I want ya to share this with me.” Kian reached over and cuffed Bryan on the back of his head.
“I would love that Kian.” There was an excitement to her voice.
“Oh Emmy…oh yea baby!” Bryan leaned over and moaned into the phone.
As Kian heard Emmy burst out into laughter on the other end, he reached out and pushed Bryan away violently. “Fuck off!” He growled at his friend.
“What happened to Jodi? Movin’ on quickly aren’t ya Egan?” Bryan snickered.
Hearing Jodi’s name, Kian sobered. He hadn’t called Jodi since their fight. A part of missed her madly. He closed his eyes in defeat. Just once why couldn’t something be easy for him? Why did he have to feel so much for either of them?
“Kian, did you call Jodi yet?” Emmy’s voice brought him back into the world of the living.
“No.” He choked out. He knew he owed Jodi a lot more than a phone call.
“Kian Egan get off of that phone!” Priscilla yelled at him from where she was standing with Mark, Shane and Nicky.
Both Bryan and Kian looked up, as Kian instantly looked guilty. “I was just finishin’ up.”
“Who ya talkin’ to?” Mark called out.
“Emmy!” Bryan yelled out as Kian glared at him.
Mark’s eyes lit up as he nudged Shane. “Tell me beauty I said hello.”
Kian raised his hand and gave Mark the finger as he glared at him.
“I fuckin’ told ya.” Shane whispered into Nicky’s ear as they both laughed.
“Enough. It’s time to get to work. Tell your girlfriend you have to go.” Priscilla put her hands on her hips.
Bryan grabbed the phone out of Kian’s hands and yelled into it. “Yea, Kian’s new girlfriend, he’s gotta go!”
Grabbing the phone away from Bryan, Kian stood up. Walking away from the others, he spoke low into the phone. “I’m so sorry, Emmy. These boys are fuckin’ mad.” He was apologetic.
But Emmy was laughing. “Don’t be sorry Kian. Like I said, I wish I was there with you guys.”
“So do I, love.” Kian smiled. Then he grew silent. “I gotta go. I’ll call ya back when I can.”
“Ok, Kian. You take care. Oh and Kian…”
“Yea?” Kian strained to hear what she had to say.
“I think you should call Jodi.” Emmy whispered into the phone.
Kian nodded as he sighed. “Yea, I will. Goodbye Emmy.” Then he turned his back to the boys. “You know I care for ya, right?”
He could hear Emmy’s smile in her soft laughter. “Goodbye Kian, and yes I do. Bye.”
Kian closed the phone as he turned around. He frowned when he saw the boys standing there with stupid grins on their faces. “I thought we have some work to do?” He glowered at them as he walked over to Priscilla.
“Looks like ya were workin’ just fine over there.” Shane fought a smirk. “And how is the lovely Little One?”
“I’m tellin’ ya one last time, all of ya…FUCK OFF!” Kian growled.
“Must mean she’s doin’ pretty good.” Nicky answered with a deadpan expression on his face.
“But how is Jodi doin’?” Mark asked as he gave Kian an evil smirk.
“Listen as much as I love tryin’ to keep up with Kian’s love life, we have work to do.” Priscilla put her hands on her hips.
Kian wanted to strangle someone, but he didn’t know which neck to choose. As he joined the others to learn the new dance, he saw Bryan smirking at him. “Don’t fuckin’ say it.”
“I wasn’t gonna say anythin’.” Bryan put up his hands in defense.
“Let’s just get to work. Kian let’s try that step we were working on again, ok?” Priscilla looked at him and nodded her head.
“Yea, ok.” Kian agreed as he took his place on the floor. He could still see the looks that his bandmates were giving him and his mouth tightened. What business was it of theirs anyway? It wasn’t as if Emmy was someone he was cheating on Jodi with. Then once again the memory of the kiss he gave Emmy came back. Letting out a long deep sigh, Kian wished to God that he had some clue what to do.

“Ok, I just have one small question?” Bridget stared at her cousin with a look of disbelief.
“What is it?” Emmy flipped through a magazine trying to ignore the look Bridget was giving her. Seeing a picture of Kian her heart softened. As much as she tried to deny it, she missed him. Finding him again was something she always hoped for. Now having him back in her life made her feel safer.
“Why in the bloody hell did ya tell him to patch it up with his girlfriend?” Bridget threw up her hands exasperatedly. “I mean if she wants to let him go, let her.”
“Bridget, that is not a nice thing to say. Kian is hurting. After all why wouldn’t I urge him to go to Jodi? He is my friend and any way I can help him I will.” Emmy turned to look at her cousin.
“But if he likes ya, why would he want her back?”
That question had Emmy frowning. “How many times have I told you that Kian and I are just-“
“Just friends, I know.” Bridget rolled her eyes.
“It’s true!” Emmy protested.
“If Kian was so under Jodi’s spell, he wouldn’t have kissed ya.” Bridget smirked as she got a cocky look on her face.
Emmy’s eyes widened as she blushed. “How in the hell do you know he kissed me?”
“A person has to look out for her favorite cousin. I mean it’s not safe to be out so late, anythin’ could happen.” Bridget shrugged as she fought the laughter bubbling from down deep inside.
“Why you little sneak! You were looking weren’t you?” Emmy growled as she sat up. “I can’t believe you! Just how much did you see? Just wait until I tell your father!”
“Enough to know that it was stupid of ya to send him back to Jodi.” Bridget retorted as she glared.
Emmy slumped back down as she closed her eyes, rubbing them. “You don’t understand, Bridget.”
“Then educate me.” Came the response.
“I meant it when I said Kian and I were just friends. He doesn’t know what he wants right now.” Emmy tried to explain. “Yea, when he kissed me it felt good. Why wouldn’t it? But it also scared me.”
“Why would it scare you?” Bridget wanted to know. “Hell if I was in your place, I wouldn’t fight it. What’s wrong with likin’ him more than a friend?”
“What happens if it doesn’t work out?” Emmy posed the question. “Do you know how much it would kill both of us? Our friendship would be lost then. We wouldn’t be able to salvage anything. That would be too high of price to pay.”
Bridget gave her a sympathetic look. “I think ya are worryin’ about nothin’. Kian adores you. Do ya really think he wouldn’t love you that much?”
“I don’t know. I don’t know and that’s what scares me.” Emmy began to chew on her lower lip.
“Well I think now the only thing ya should be scared of is that ya might’ve sent him back into the arms of the wrong woman.” Bridget sighed.
“Then it’s a choice I’ll have to live with.” Emmy tried to be nonchalant. Yet she knew down deep inside that Bridget just might be right.

Jodi lay back on the bed and stretched out. It was good to be home in London. Although she loved seeing Kian, she wasn’t sure she could make another trip to Sligo. It just didn’t feel right to her. She needed the busy city life of London. As she thought of Kian a frowned crossed her face. He was on tour by now and no word from him yet. There was no way the fight they had could have prevented him from calling. After all she was the woman he wanted. Just then as she went to turn out the light, she heard the soft ring of the telephone. Reaching over she picked up the receiver. “Hello?”
“Hey baby.”
Grinning from ear to ear, Jodi adjusted the phone. “Kian, hey honey.” She couldn’t contain her excitement. She knew he would call. He had to. He needed her just as badly as she needed him. It was so good to hear his husky Irish voice whispering in her ear.
“I’m sorry that I didn’t-“ Kian tripped over the words as he spoke into the phone.
“No, it’s ok. I told you that if you wanted me to call.” Jodi quickly reassured him. She couldn’t let him hang up. Now that she had him wanting her again, she would have to tread carefully. “How’s the tour going?”
There was a long sigh before Kian answered. “Great actually. Although, we’re a bit behind. I mean we still have vocals to work on and not to mention the dancin’.” His voice sounded far away and very tired.
“Honey are you ok?” Jodi asked in concern. She could tell that Kian just didn’t sound like himself.
“I just feel so alone right now.” Kian admitted. “I don’t like fightin’ with ya.”
“I don’t like fighting with you either.” Jodi couldn’t help but smile to herself. “You don’t have to be alone, Kian.”
“What do ya mean?” Came his confused response.
“Let me be with you. I want to be with you Kian.” Jodi began to whisper into the phone.
As Kian listened to Jodi talk to him, a deep ache began in his heart. He was torn between the woman he knew he had and the woman he had always wanted. But Emmy was tucked safely behind the label of friend. Kian knew better than to mix friendship and the heat of a stolen kiss. Emmy was right. He should give Jodi the chance she deserves.
“Come here, to me. I need ya Jodi.” Kian managed to get out.
Those were the words that Jodi had been waiting to hear. Kian was her’s and the American bitch be damned. Now she had the chance to make things right, the way they should have been the whole time. “I’ll be there soon Kian. Soon honey.”
