A/N: And with more pointers from Row, I now know how Becca would react... Tee hee!! now, (cracks knuckles) let's bring it!!
“You... miserable...” Trembling with fury, there was more explicit words trailing from her mouth as she threw down the bags that she had been carrying. Amber laughed as her vision focused on who had been advancing towards here. “LOOK EVERYONE! IT'S REBBECCA WENTZ- KID SISTER OF FALL OUT BOY'S PETE WENTZ, AND A TOTAL PAIN IN THE ASS TO BOOT!” She had drawn a small crowd, something she had always been good at. In fact, shortly after the breakup, teen magazines everywhere were hearing her story of 'heartbreak' in dating a musician. Of course, half the things were complete and utter bullshit.
The drunken girl stumbled a bit in her stillettos, therefore, she decided to kick them off. She peered at the broken windshield and the dented hood of her car. “What the fuck!? Look at my car!” Her friends had climbed out of the car, her usual crowd of lemming bitches, and all were gasping and moaning about the damage to the car. “Who the fuck stood in my way?” She peered down to see who it had been. The girl looked vaguely familiar. Cat opened her eyes when she thought it safe. She wasn't dead after all. No, the pain surging through her body reminded her that she was still there, and very much conscious. She could not move, as right now, moving meant paralyzing pain. “Bloody tart,” she murmured. Amber's eyes narrowed. “Get up! You're faking it. You're just making a scene for all to see. Look everyone! She's awake and talking. Oh, still not getting up? Oh, never mind, I'll help you up.” Forcibly, she pulled on Cat's arms, forcing her into the sitting position.
Cat let out a small yelp of pain and clenched her jaw shut as tears trickled down her cheeks. She was stuck in this position. If she moved, that meant more pain. “If you're going to do something, just kill me already,” she moaned, screwing her eyes shut. In pain, she was prone of irrational thought. One had been wishing for death. “Oh shut up you British slut and take it. Come on, you're going to see what you did to my car. Have you any idea what model of car this is?” She tugged on Cat's right leg, which appeared to be quite mangled. After another muffled scream...
In the bat of an eye, Becca had jumped Amber, the trail of endless cursing ensuing as she had started to beat her senseless. Little did she know...
Ryan looked at his phone in discontent. “Spence, try to get hold of Becca. Cat's not answering her phone.” Spencer frowned, as he tried to dial Becca. She hadn't picked up either. Brendon and Jon had pretty wandered to the next room. Ryan shook his head, suddenly getting up, starting to pace. “I'm going to look for them.” Spencer jogged after his friend. “Not without me you're not.” Ryan pulled out his keys, a sign that he was driving. Jon and Brendon ran into the room to find it empty. They shrugged at each other before going outside, where they could see the scene from walking distance. What the Hell?? No one had gotten very far when they found a huge crowd. Ryan parked his car in the middle of the street and pushed his way to the front. Spencer was right behind him in all this, and the scene was shocking in itself.
Becca had been beating Amber to practically a bloody pulp. She might have broken her nose by now. Either way, she seemed to have a good amount of hits on her. It looked like she'd end up with a black eye at the least. What came worse was that the police soon came to break apart the fight. “I'LL TEAR HER LIMB BY LIMB- I'L-” she had been furiously struggling against the police when Spencer had jumped in on the scene and had put a hand on Becca's shoulder. “Reby, stop, this isn't you! Calm down!” Becca heard Spencer's voice and then choked back a sob as she buried her face into Spencer's chest.
“OH MY GOD- CAT!”
Ryan's sudden outburst caused heads to turn as he knelt down by his girlfriend who had been curled up in a ball on the ground by now. He reached down for her, to which she thrashed out, actually managing to slap Ryan across the face. “DON'T TOUCH ME!” Ryan shrank back in surprise. Cat caught a glimpse at who she had struck at and then burst into tears, now hurting emotionally to boot. “Ry, it hurts... it all hurts, all over...” A cop knelt down by Cat, and went back to his radio in his car, clearly calling an ambulance. Ryan put a hand to his cheek in shock, staring at the withering Cat. He whirled around towards Amber, trembling with rage to the point that the ability to speak had escaped him. By then, a breathless Jon and Brendon had caught up to Ryan, just in time to see the ambulance make its appearance. What the hell had happened to Cat? “Ry-” Brendon began, reaching for Ryan who merely jerked out of his grip. “Drive my car to the hospital, I'm going with her.” He tossed the keys at Brendon.
Spencer had finally gotten Becca to speak. “She almost hit me- Cat pushed me out of the way-...” Again, sobs had escaped, to which Spencer had to sit there, consoling the girl. Jon knelt by the two. “She's alive. I think her screaming gave way to that.” Becca looked up at hearing the words 'she's alive' but then burst in tears again about hearing about the screaming. Brendon came behind them, picking up the story as he went along. “Spence, think you can get her to the car? I'm thinking it's a good idea we follow the ambulance. Part of me thinks that Ry might try to jump out while it's moving...” The vocalist looked down at Ryan's car keys then at Ryan's car uncertainly. Ryan never let other people drive his car. This was turning out to be Hell on Earth.
Now, they had been in the hospital. Though they had arrived three hours ago. What was taking so long? Ryan had been pacing. Brendon had sat down in a chair, hands pressed against his temples. Jon had been staring stoically at a Twinkie, unable to eat it at this point. As hungry as he was, it just didn't taste right. Spencer had been staring at Becca, who had seemed to have gone into some catatonic state. He waved a hand over her eyes just to make sure. “Becca, Becca- you alright?” Becca had snapped out of her daze, only to bite her lip again, looking vulnerable as ever at this point. Helplessness had always caused dark memories to drift back to haunt her. Right now, speaking wasn't on the top of her priorities. “No.. not alright,” she spoke dully before again going into that state again. Finally, a doctor had come into the waiting room, causing the other five to spring back into life.
“She's out of surgery and resting-” Ryan quickly cut in - “Surgery?” The man nodded. “Surgery to set her leg. That was quite a break. But other than that, she'll be fine. Just a question. Does she suffer from any pain conditions of any sort?” Becca, being the only one who knew the secret at this point cut in. “She's had episodes of pain on and off for years... An injury..” The doctor nodded, it finally making sense of the patient's ill response to pain and how she had calmed after a strong dose of morphine. “Very well, I'll speak to her of it when she is in a better state. For now, would you like to see her?” The five stared at the doctor as if he was a complete idiot for asking that question. “Follow me.”
They had been led to the doorway of a room. Ryan stepped in, being the first to catch a glimpse of Cat, who looked so frail in that bed. It was almost too painful to watch. He stepped closer, taking hold of her hand. “Cat...” he breathed. As if on command, Cat' s eyes fluttered open. The first thing she did was to rub a hand tenderly against the bruise on his cheek. “I'm sorry,” she whispered, a tear slipping from the corner of her eye. Ryan had caught the tear before he had silenced her with a finger. “You do look a lot sorrier than I am,” he teased in her ear, causing a weak smile to flicker. Before he stepped aside to let others near, he brushed his lips against hers. “Baby, don't ever scare me like that again.” Cat shrugged her shoulders, not quite having much to say at this point.
The next person that had stepped forward had been Becca. The bruising along her eye had started to darken. Though half-conscious under a blanket of fog, Cat made a clicking noise as she saw the bruise. “For shame Becca, fighting like that...” She winked at her. “Remind me to never piss you off. I'd wind up in far worse shape than I'm in now... Blimey I did make a mess of things, didn't I?” Becca had slowly started to clear her mind from that panic mode of hers. She could only smile ruefully. “Next time I'll just run her down.” Catrianna laughed as she closed her eyes in drowsiness. “Ding dong the bitch is dead...” Eventually she had drifted off to sleep, the worst clearly being over.
Cat had been in the hospital for a week before they had released her. Becca took the liberty of driving her home from the hospital, given that the boys had some local business dealing to attend to. When stopped at a light, Becca turned towards Cat. “You chose not to press charges, why?” Cat shrugged indifferently, before staring at her friend. “Because karma is always a bitch in the end. She'll get hers. That, and court proceedings are ruddy boring if you ask me.” She cracked a sheepish smile as she rested her head against the window before she she had spotted a styling salon. “Becca, think we can stop here?”
At the sound of doors closing, Ryan looked up from his journal of lyrics that he had been concentrating on putting together. “Guys, I think they're here.” Ryan had stepped out in time to help Cat out of the car. “Nice hair.” Cat cracked a sheepish grin as she tossed her mane of black hair, which had now been streaked with magenta. “It's something new.” The two had exchanged a kiss while Becca had stepped out of the car, tossing Ryan's car keys towards him. “Told you I wouldn't total it.” Ryan rolled his eyes as he reached for Cat's bag.
Finally inside the flat, Cat had sunk into her couch, tossing the crutches down. “Bloody contraptions from Hell,” she grumbled, only to get an eye roll out of Brendon who had moved off the couch right before she had sat on him. “Trying to smother me woman?” Cat laughed as she reached for a pillow to thwap her friend with. “Of course not Brendon. Your ass is more likely to smother than mine.” She smiled angelically as that wicked grin of Brendon's faded as he grumbled some explicative. “What was that Brendon?” Brendon shook his head as he put on the headphones of his iPOD. Pretty soon, he had been in his own world of music, singing softly under his breath. Becca giggled as she had been passing by the singing Brendon. “You should hear him when he's in the shower. Back in Chicago, I have video tape of him singing in the shower. Though, it was taped behind the door. Then Brendon ruined it by flashing the camera. I shall never recover from that.”
Cat put a hand over her mouth, giggling slightly at the thought. Ryan had come in, snaking on a brownie. He handed one to Cat, who first sniffed the brownie. “Who made it?” she asked, staring at each of them suspiciously. Becca looked indignant. “Hey! I don't lace my brownies with poison!” She smirked as Jon and Spencer had shown up with the full platter of brownies. She reached one, taking a bite. “Though, I know someone that makes excellent hash brownies if ever interested.” The mention of hash brownies seemed to bring Brendon out of his music-induced state. “Hash brownies? Where?” Again, laughter ensued from this group. Another day in the life.
A/N: God, that was nuts.
