Chapter Eight: An Intended Mistake
Maddie woke up to an alarm and in a bed that wasn’t her own. Looking around she saw the same red and gold room that she fell asleep in last night. The knock at her door was timid but heard nonetheless.
“Come in, Aly” Maddie knew it could only be her since Pete was away on a business trip until tomorrow. It had been a week since the night that Pete had came home drunk. Aly was still in her pj’s which was expected since it was only seven in the morning. “What up baby girl? I thought you wanted to sleep in today?”
“I miss daddy, when is he coming back?” Aly had never been away from Pete for more than a day, even when his mother was living here. They always went with him, Maddie thought staying would make it easier on the three of them, not to mention on his bandmates. Yea easier for me, now I don’t have to constantly wonder what could have happened if we had actually kissed. Oh god, not going back there, Maddie watched as Aly’s lips made the perfect put, “I’m tired of being at home, and I wanna go do something. Can we go somewhere tonight?”
“I have a really good idea but I want it to be a surprise ok? So go get dressed, we’ll eat some breakfast and then we’ll start on our day ok?” Maddie looked at Aly expectantly.
“A surprise? OK I think I can do a surprise but can it involve junk food later?” When Maddie nodded, Aly woo-hooed in joy jumped off the bed and ran back towards her room. Maddie slowly got out of bed a little less excited and made a phone call.
“Hey. What are you doing?”
“Bry I gotta favor to ask you and before you say anything let me talk it all the way through,” at Brylee’s silence she continued, “I want you to skip work today. Aly and I both have been getting a little too restless and I wanna take her shopping and then to Blockbuster so she can pick out some movies and our last stops going to be our place, so we can have a relaxing girls night in.”
“Hell yea, I’m all for that. Let me call work and the fill Trista in, make her take the day off and then we will meet you at the mall in like two hours?”
“Sounds good, Love ya.” After hearing Brylee’s goodbye, she started getting ready for the day. Walking into the bathroom she turned the shower on waiting for it to get warm she leaned against the counter top, flashing back to last week, she remember s the feeling of Pete pressing her back against the kitchen counter top and leaning towards her. Shaking her head she got in the shower letting the water wash away the memories from that night.
After changing into a pair of jeans and a black tank top she grabbed the red hoodie with the black bartskull on it that she stole out of the closet downstairs when no on was watching and made her way to the kitchen, knocking on Aly’s door and tell her where she would be and to hurry up. By the time Maddie was done making breakfast for them, Aly had made her way down ready for a day of surprises. She was grinning from ear to ear, “So what are we doing today?”
“I’m not telling you!” Maddie teased the little girl while they ate about all the things they could be doing.
“Can I call daddy before we leave?” Aly had wanted to talk to him since yesterday morning when they hung up. Unable to say no to that cute little face, Maddie grabbed the phone and started dialing. Maddie was unsure of how Pete would feel about Aly staying at her place tonight and she knew that since they were avoiding each other at all cost talking to him was out of the question. That was part of the reason she was doing the whole surprise thing; she just wanted to have a little bit of worry free fun with Aly.
“Hey baby is that you?”
“Hi daddy, how is New York? Do you still miss me? A lot?” Pete smiled hearing his daughter’s voice was all he need at this moment. Having Danielle with him would have normally been enough but since last week, he doesn’t really have his head on straight anymore.
“Of course I miss you, how is everything there? How are Maddie and Hemingway?” Pete had subtly been trying to get any kind of information on Maddie from Aly. He listen to Aly go one about how Maddie taught Hemmy a new trick and how it was the most awesomest rick ever. Looking around the empty hotel room he saw the picture of Aly and him he took every where, he never knew how much he miss her while she was away. He had begged Maddie to come with him so Aly could go also but she thought it would be better for Aly to get use to him being away every so often. He knew it wasn’t about Aly it was about what had passed between them last week. He knew that he had gone way too far and now he couldn’t go back.
“Daddy did you hear me? Maddie and I are getting ready to do a bunch of fun stuff. Will you call me later?”
“Yea baby. I’ll call you after the interview this evening ok? I miss you and I love you, have fun with Maddie and tell her I say hi.” As they hung up, Pete saw Maddie’s face, the way he saw it right before he had almost kissed her. The fear, nerves and confusion written all over not only her face but also her body; he groaned in embarrassment over the way he acted.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
As she drove up to the mall Maddie could feel the excitement vibrating off of Aly, thinking about Aly’s past with women and the fact that she was going to be with three of them today; two of them she didn’t know, Maddie wasn’t sure how she would respond. Please let Bry lee and Trista be on their best behavior today! She thought over and over in her mind as she and Aly walked towards the entrance holding hands. She saw her two best friends, waved and put her finger up as if to say “give me a moment” she turned towards Aly.
“OK sweetie, we are at the mall today obviously and you can get anything you want withing certain limitations. I also invited my two best friends in the words,” she watched as Aly followed an invisible line past her finger and spotted Brylee and Trista. “Trista is the one with the purple highlights and Brylee is the blonde highlighted chick, you ok with meeting new people and having a girls day right now and then later having a girls night in at my place? We’ll bring Hemmy and everything.” Aly took a deep breath and nodded her head, nervous but sill excited about Shopping. Maddie motion her friend over. After making more formal introductions they started on there shopping spree, hitting what felt like every store possible. While Brylee was looking at clothes with Aly, Trista took the time to talk to Maddie.
“So have you and Pete talked since the whole almost kissing thing?”
“Talked? Sure a little bit, but about the whole kissing thing? No, we’ve been seriously avoiding anything has to do with kissing. I keep having these like mental flashbacks of the night. I don’t know what came over me but I felt out of control. Like all I could breathe was him and he was intoxicating. I felt...I don’t know...high or pleasantly buzzed and it was from the way he looked at to the way he was touching my face that made me feel that way because the moment he let me go, I felt like I was falling.” The longer she talked about it the redder her face became.
“Wow that makes me think about how I seriously need a sex life, and like soon.” Maddie burst into laughter at Trista’s blunt statement. “Hey don’t laugh so do you.”
“I just feel like a walking cliche, I mean it’s just awkward, we were so close to kissing and then his cell phone started vibrating. I don’t know, I guess it just wasn’t meant to happen. I mean it couldn’t be a coincidence that the moment that he wants to kiss me is the same moment that his girlfriend wants him to spend some time with her. I mean, right? Or is that just my luck?” Maddie’s thoughts had turned to that night, how he held her against the counter top with his body while he talked to Danielle, not taking his eyes away from hers, how reluctant he was to actually leave, but the part she remembers the most was the way he caressed her face leaned down and kissed her on both cheeks before whispering that he was sorry. He didn’t say anything else just grabbed his jacket, keys and left, left Maddie to figure out what had just happened. I never did though, I still don’t know what the hell happened. Maddie had been trying to figure it out for the last week, what had actually happed and what was apart of her imagination. The way his hand rest on her hip, how every time he would touch her her skin would prickle, was that apart of her imaginations or was it real? Shaking her head she turned towards Trista who was talking to her.
“Maddie, maybe we should talk about this later,” she nodded toward Aly who was standing close enough to be eavesdropping. “When innocent daughter like ears aren’t around.” Maddie nodded her agreement and walked over towards Aly.
“So baby girl what do you wanna buy?” Aly lifted up a pair of pink and white stripped pajama bottoms and a white shirt that went with them in one and hand and a yellow and white sunflower dress in her other hand.
“Can I get them both? Please?” Maddie knew that she couldn’t say no even if she wanted to, Aly knew how to work her puppy dog face to the best of her abilities.
“As long as I get to choose a movie to watch for tonight at Blockbuster.” Maddie looked hopefully was Aly.
Sighing deeply Aly smiled at Maddie, “ok if that’s what its going to cost me.” Maddie took the two outfits from Aly, walked over to the cashier and paid for the outfits.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
After hanging up with Aly that morning, Pete had decided that he wanted to go home early. He talked to his band mates who agreed with his decision, they proceeded to have the interview a couple of hours early, Patrick made sure that the flights were changed and Pete left a message at the house telling the girls that he would be home early. He forgot to tell Danielle that they were leaving early which is why he’s been arguing with her for the last two hours on the phone, text messaging, and now in person.
“Danielle, relax, ok? I just miss my daughter. I don’t understand what the hell your so angry about.” Danielle was throwing a hissy fit for no reason and it was making Pete mad.
“Pete, I just wanted to spend some alone time with you tonight. I thought we could go to a romantic dinner and maybe hit you club afterwards? I just wanted it to be us for once, with out your daughter, friends, and especially without,” she got a look of disgust on her face as she said it, “that nanny of yours that’s always around.”
“Look Danielle, you can stay if you want, I don’t care. You can come home tomorrow at the original time we had planned, but I’m going home tonight. I miss Aly and I just want ti read her a story tonight and tuck her in to bed.” Pete was done fighting with her which was unusual for him he use to love fighting with Danielle because it always ended up better for him afterwards with the making up. He also had always said no when she asked to stay behind any other time.
“Now you don’t want me to go home with you? Pete what the in the last week and half you haven’t look me in the eye; we haven’t had sex in a week, for god’s sake your haven’t even slept in the same bed as me in a week. I seriously can’t figure out what is wrong with you!”
Pete knew he had been acting differently but ever since the kiss almost happened with Maddie last Friday his mind has been on overdrive. The way he felt with Maddie was completely different then the way he felt with Danielle, it was more intense. He felt more alive when he was around Maddie; it was almost like she awoke a part of him that had been sleeping for way too long.
“Danielle, I’m not doing this. There is nothing going on, I’m just tired and I need you to understand. I’ve been running on empty for such a long time that I need to just stop for a minute, take a breath and get back to a full tank. Please, please just give me a break for like one minute ok?”
Danielle was pissed, she came here to get Pete wrapped around her finger again. She had wanted to solidify her place at his side but after this she wasn’t sure if that was going to happen. She had been watching Pete, how he had been pretending that nothing was going on, that everything was perfect, when she knew something was going on and that nothing was perfect, whether he was willing to admit it or not.
“Fine Pete but if you leave today then I’m staying, staying so that I can actually have fun for one night with out having to worry about what you wanted to do with Aly or whether the nanny is ok taking care of her. You hired a nanny for the purpose of being able to get out every now and then but all you wanna do is stay in. I don’t understand, is it the nanny? Is there something going on between the two of you that you’re not telling me?”
“What?” Pete almost broke his neck trying to check if Danielle was being serious. “No! Nothing is going on between Maddie and me. Why would you even think something like that?” It was obvious he was lying, well to him it was. Danielle seemed happy enough with the answer.
“Fine Pete go home.” Danielle sighed, not know if the word he said were true but at this point she didn’t really care. “I’ll be fine; I’ll just meet up with some of my friends.” Pete nodded at her words knowing that she wanted him to stay but not really caring. He grabbed his bags that he had packed earlier, kissed her sweetly on the lips, why does this feel so empty, told her that he would see her tomorrow night, and he walked out the door without even a glance back.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
“Movies, movies, movies!” All four of them chanted quite loudly as they walked up to Blockbuster.
“Can we get Bring it on? Or how about that Cinderella movie, the one with Hilary Duff?” Aly brought her voice down to a more respectable volume as they walked in.
“Heck yea, I love Bring it On! We can also get High School Musical If they have it. I know what movie I want though, I want to get Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.” Maddie smiled at her friends because she knew they would hate it.
“Again? Don’t we like own it or something?” Trista rolled her eyes at Brylee’s words.
“No she left it at her mom’s and hasn’t been able to watch it for a really long time and she doesn’t think that it’s such a big deal for us to watch it with her again. She said that last week, remember?” Maddie scowled as Trista mocked her.
After paying for the movies, HSM, Sisterhood, and Bring it on $ they decided to split up, Trista and Brylee headed back to the bachelorette pad as they so affectionately called it while Maddie and Aly headed back to Aly’s to pick up Hemingway, clothes and any supplies that they might need for the night mostly junk food that Pete had hidden in the pantry.
As Maddie pulled up Aly jumped out of the car and ran to the front door, waiting for Maddie to come and unlock it. Running inside Maddie gave out some orders for Aly to follow, “Ok go pack some clothes to come home in tomorrow, you already have pajama’s out in the car, and then meet me down stairs in the kitchen to pick out some good junk food ok?”
Aly nodded and ran upstairs while Maddie headed straight for the kitchen, stopping in the living room to clean up the small mess they had made the day before, when she got to the kitchen she did the few dishes from this morning and fed Hemingway. As she was getting a couple of bags from under the sink Aly ran in and dropped her bag down on the ground. Maddie jumped at the noise, “Aly you scared the hell out of me! Ok anyways you wanna help me with the whole picking out what we want to eat tonight?”
“Yea but I think we should just take everything.” Putting a huge grin on her face she looked up at Maddie. “Please?”
“Ha, no. I think that we’ll take some chocolate like the snickers, milky way’s and butterfingers, some popcorn, ice cream, some sour patch kids and yes! Your dad totally has marshmallows that means we can make s’mores.” As Maddie was saying the items she was placing them into the bad that Aly was holding. Aly smiled at the bad and threw it over her shoulder. Maddie closed the door tot he pantry and followed behind Aly picking up the few thing that kept falling out of the bag she was carrying. Maddie grabbed the backpack Aly had packed for the night, called out Hemingway’s name telling him to come and followed Aly through the hallway and out the door, neither had noticed the blinking red light on the answering machine, telling them that they had four new messages.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Pete was worried; he had left four messages for Aly and Maddie, tried Maddie’s cell phone and even the cell phone that he gave Aly for emergencies no answer on any of them. He was hoping they were just out having fun but he couldn’t be sure and all he wanted was to get home to that he can make sure they were ok. Not just Aly but Maddie too, oh god hopefully nothing has happened to them. It was the only thing that he could think. Picking up his phone he dialed again, hearing his voice on the other line stating that they weren’t available, he hung up and threw the phone down hitting Patrick’s leg.
“Hey! Chill man, there probably at a movie or something, maybe they are out shopping and Maddie forgot her cell phone.”
“No, Maddie’s cell phone is turned off it doesn’t even ring. I don’t know what to think.”
“Well I personally think that you need to chill, we’re bound to find them. Whether they are at your place, or maybe Maddie took Aly out to get drunk at a bar.” Gabe flinched at the glare that Pete gave him in the rear view mirror. “I’m just joking about the whole getting drunk thing, you know Maddie wouldn’t take your daughter to get drunk, at least not till she’s old enough.”
Gabe wasn’t helping at all with his suggestions of what could be going on but probably isn’t it was actually becoming quite annoying, making Pete want nothing more than to smack that smirk off his face. Pulling up to and then through the gates he parked, turned the car off but left the keys in the ignition, he walked up towards the house hoping against all hope that they were playing a game in the living room or eating at the kitchen counter.
Why am I getting so worried, I talked to Aly this morning they should be fine. Just busy.
Walking into the house yelling there names, he ran upstairs looking both of the rooms he couldn’t stop his heart from racing. Why am I feeling like this? All I can think about is Hannah, how she came last year and tried taking Aly back. Please, I’ll do anything just let them be ok.
Walking back downstairs he saw Gabe, Patrick, and Joe shaking there heads. Joe was the first to speak, “Dude, they aren’t here, not out back or down here anywhere. Hemingway’s not even here, maybe they took him for a walk. Do we need to call someone or should we wait a little while?”
“Ok listen, I bet you that they did take Hemingway out, maybe to that dog park he likes.” Patrick took the lead of the group which wasn’t unusual to the guys. “What we’re going to do is wait another hour, keep trying the cell phones and if there is still no answer than we’re going to figure out where Maddie lives and go there, if she not home maybe her roommates will be.” He looked at them as they all nodded their heads in approval; Pete hesitated before he nodded.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Meanwhile, Maddie, Aly, Trista, and Brylee had moved all the furniture and set up a huge bed in the three girls red and black living room.
“Ok, here’s our marching orders, Aly and I are going to get our pajama’s on, Aly you can change in my room” Maddie stated as she pointed her room out to Aly, “I’ll change in the bathroom. Trista, Brylee you start the popcorn and scoop out some ice cream and when we’re done changing we will switch jobs ok?” everyone nodded and head the direction the were directed to.
Everyone was changes; food was sitting on the floor in the middle of the made up bed, Maddie had put her movie in and now they were in the middle of it with Hemingway lying on his back paws up between Maddie and Aly.
“OoooOh, I love this part! He is so cute!” The three other girls all shushed Maddie before she could continue. The movie was almost over by the time they heard a frantic almost pounding at the front door, Hemingway was at attention growling and barking almost immediately. Maddie looked at her two friends trying to see if they knew who it could be but at the barely noticeable shake of both their head Maddie stood up and told Aly to stay with Trista. Brylee and her weren’t sure what the hell was going on but they didn’t like it.
“Wait, hold on let me get something” Brylee whispered while the pounding persisted at the door. Maddie turned towards her as Brylee mad her way back to her side she rolled her eyes as she saw the object she had retrieved.
“A plunger? Seriously Bry what the hell are you going to do with it? Unclog the person’s pores?” She continued to the door chuckling a bit at her own joke, she pulled the door open slowly and was genuinely surprised to see who was standing on the other side.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~.
Pete was scared to death; it had been an hour since Patrick decided that they needed to wait a little long and now longer was too long. He wasn’t exactly sure what he should do but he knew that he couldn’t just keep siting here. He had talked to Aly at 8 this morning, so it had been almost 14 hours since he heard from her and that was unusual. He was use to talking to her every couple of hours, he would call to see how her day was going or she would call to tell him that she loved him and couldn’t wait for him to be home.
“Ok Pete I found out where Maddie lives. Let’s go check out her house.” Pete had grabbed his keys, walked out the door and was at his car before Joe had even finished the sentence. They drove the almost hour drive to Maddie’s place making it there in about half the time, Pete parked halfway in the driveway and halfway in the street jumped out of the car and ran to the door, banging on it. Before Patrick, Joe or Gabe could get out of the car the front door flew open, a huge man in a pair of boxers and a wife beater holding a shotgun was staring at Pete.
“Is Maddie here? Maddie Tyler? Does she live her?”
“Maddie? As in the hor brunette with red highlights?” at Pete’s timid nod he answered the original question, “Nah she doesn’t live here, she lives two house over. It’s the blue and white one with the red door.” Instead of going back to his car he jumped off the porch and ran towards the direction the man had pointed. Walking up to the door he started pounding on it; this is the only house with a red door; t has to be where they live. It was taking too long for the door to open, he knocked harder, at this point Patrick, Joe, and Gabe gad joined him at the front door. They could hear whispering and barking then finally the door opened slowly.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
“Pete? What the hell are you doing her?” she was kind of shocked; especially since he wasn’t suppose to be home until tomorrow evening. He was pissed; what the hell am I doing here? How dare her!
“Whoa wait a minute, what the hell am I doing here? What the hell am I doing here? Let me tell you, I decided I wanted to come home and see my daughter, I wanted to be able to tuck her in, read her a god damn story and I called to tell you I was coming, four fucking times I called.” At this point he was more than pissed he was outraged, but before he could continue he saw Aly out of the corner of his eye, her own eyes wide in fear having never seen her dad this angry before. Then he saw two girls the same age as Maddie, the both looked like they were holding back the words that they wanted to speak. Before he continued he decided that he wanted to be alone with Maddie so Aly didn’t have to hear the things he wanted to say. Curtly he asked, “Is there somewhere private we cant talk?”
Maddie was in shock, complete and utter shock; she just nodded at his question and started walking towards her room with pete following behind her. Patrick shrugged his shoulders at Gabe and Joe and walked into the room, looking from Trista to Brylee and finally to Aly. All three men were slightly shocked to see Aly at ease with the two adult women whose hands she was holding, the moment she saw the men she ran towards them jumping into Joe’s arms.
“Uncle Joe, Uncle Patrick AND Uncle Gabe, did you come to join us for our movie night?” they all shook there heads no, “Why was daddy so mad? Why are you guys back early and why was daddy yelling at Maddie?”
“We came back so early my little munchkin to see you. Your daddy wanted to surprise you but when we got home your weren’t there and none of use knew where you were so we got a little scared, you dad especially.”
“Daddy get scared? Really? I didn’t think that was possible because he stood up to the boogey man last week! I thought that mean he wasn’t scared of anything!” Aly looked back towards Trista and Brylee who both looked like they were in shock. Gabe followed her lin of sight and smiled.
“Well, Well, what do we have here? I’m Gabe,” he slid in close to Trista before she could respond he was talking again, “I just have one question,” at Trista’s raised eyebrow, “Did it hurt? You know when you fell from heaven?”
Brylee snorted, “seriously? That’s all you could come up with?”
Trista glared at her, “I think it was sweet” turning towards Gabe, “A little cheesy but definitely sweet.”
Patrick and Brylee shared a look of disbelief and both started laughing. Joe and Aly were both off in there own little world. Brylee looked back over at Patrick, “You think it’s safe? You know letting them go into Maddie’s bedroom without supervision?”
Patrick chuckled, “I sure hope so, we sure as hell don’t need anymore tension between the two of them.” As he was saying the words they heard a loud thud come from the room and all five of the adults shared a look.
“What the hell are they doing in there?” Trista fought back her urge to peek into Maddie’s room.
“Darling I don’t think we want to know.” Gabe laughed as Aly looking on in confusion.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
In the other room, after Pete had walked in she shut the door and succeeded in knocking her stuff on her bookcase down to the floor leaving it there she turned to stare at Pete as he paced her room, “Seriously Maddie what the hell, you phone is off, Aly doesn’t have hers. I know because I found it in her drawer and I called the house four times, I even left four messages. How can you be so irresponsible? How dare you take my daughter out of my house and not even call to tell me!”
“Pete, I thought you weren’t going to be home until tomorrow, Aly and I bother were getting restless in that huge house and we just wanted to get out and have some fun. There is no reason for you to get so angry, she’s fine and I’m fine, not that you care.”
“Care? Of course I fucking care! Maddie, I was fucking scared out of my mind, I didn’t know what happened to you or to Aly. I was going out of my mind; I kept imagining what could have happened to the both of you.”
“Pete, we’re fine! Everything is fine, you just need to relax.”
“You seriously need to stop telling me to relax.”
“Your seriously need to stop getting angry, just calm down. I’m sorry I didn’t call but ever since that moment two weeks ago, I’ve felt like I was walking on egg shells around you and being in that house, I just kept think back to that night.”
“Look it was a mistake, I never should have tried to kiss you I had way too much to drink and I just cant figure out why it happened.” He wasn’t ready to have this conversation, he never thought Maddie would be the first to bring it up.
“Mistake? You had me pressed against a counter, you were seconds away from kissing me, and I don’t think that was some kind of mistake. I think you wanted me as much as I want you.”
“I’m not doing this Maddie. I have a girlfriend, a girlfriend I love.” Love and Danielle was beginning to sound like a foreign concept. Maddie understood, well kind of, she just wanted to be close to him. That’s when she realized with every word that he said he took one step closer to her without realizing it. “I want to, god you have no idea how much I want to touch you, kiss you even but I can’t...I just can’t.” Maddie nodded at the words he was saying. Every time he stepped towards her she stepped back but now she was running out of room the wall was getting closer to her back and she couldn’t think of anything to say or do.
“Maddie tell me not to do this. Tell me that you don’t want me to dot his.” Maddie was confused, in less than a minute Pete went form loving his girlfriend to wanting nothing more than to kiss Maddie. Before she could respond she felt his lips on hers, his hand caressing her face. She didn’t respond, she was in shock until she felt his tongue at her lips, then his teeth nibbling on her bottom lip and in that moment something changed. She stopped holding back, stopped resisting and stopped being scared. She ran her own tongue across his lips and found her self in the most intense kiss she had ever experienced in her life. His hand had moved from her face to her waist pushing her harder against the wall, she could feel every inch of him and she didn’t want to let go.
Pete pulled back and smiled when he hear Maddie whimper at the separation. Before Maddie could say anything he realized what he had done. I have to get out of her, before I can’t stop myself from going any further.
“Pete, Oh god,” She saw the look on his face, he regrets it. Ok just give him an out, let him leave before you get into deep. Ha a little too late for that. “Maybe you should go,”she cleared her throat and pushed him away from her so she could fight the urge to kiss him again. “You can leave Aly with me if you want but uh you have to go like now before I can’t control myself anymore because truthfully the fact that you have a girlfriend doesn’t bother me and that’s a little frightening. I can’t do this to myself or to you so go now before it’s too late.”
Pete didn’t say anything, he was a little upset but knew that if he stayed any longer the neatly made bed would be occupied in a way that he didn’t want to think about right now. “Uh right, you’ll just bring Aly with you tomorrow?” At her nod, he turned and walked out of her bedroom not realizing how disheveled he looked. His hair was a mess and his clothes looked more wrinkled then before he went in. Trista sent a smirk Brylee’s way, I totally won this bet. Pete told Aly she could stay with Maddie which she was more than happy about. Aly hugged her dad and they exchanged I love you’s and Pete turned to leave grabbing Gabe by the ear pulling him out the front door.
“Ladies, it was nice meeting both of you. Especially you Trista! Make sure you call that number I gave you!” Gabe tried to bow as he said ladies which he barely got away with but he had to holler the last sentence as Pete continued to pull him. Trista laughed and looked over at Brylee who was rolling her eyes.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
They had finished the movies; Aly was comfortably sleeping in Maddie’s bed with Hemingway at her feet. Maddie couldn’t sleep; she was sitting on the couch watching some stupid show on Comedy Central when she heard a bedroom door open looking up she saw both of her friends staring at her.
“Well, you were awfully quiet tonight, what happened in that bedroom?” Trista was more worried about Maddie then the bet she made with Brylee. Maddie leaned against the arm of the couch, hugged her legs to her chest and rested her head on her knees.
“I don’t know, I’m still completely and utterly confused. First Pete’s telling me how worried he was about Aly then all of sudden I bring that stupid almost kiss up he’s telling me that it was a mistake and before I could say anything my back was against the wall and I was in this amazing kiss.” Trista and Brylee both looked at each other hoping Maddie would give them more information, “I don’t know, I wanted that kiss more than anything. I think that’s why I didn’t say anything, but you wanna know what the scary thing is? I didn’t even care that he has a girlfriend and that scares me. If I like him enough to not care that he’s been in a relationship with a girl for so long, I just wanted him to kiss me again, but you should have saw the look on his face. I told him to leave, because I don’t know what would have happened.”
Bot girls knew Maddie was looking for some kind of advice or guidance but neither had any to give. Neither had been in this situation and it tore them apart looking at the sad girl in front of them and neither knowing what to say or do to cheer her up. That’s where they stayed the rest of the night, all three of them watching stupid shows, two of them watching Maddie try to hide the tears she wanted to shed.

This abuse control system is run in accordance with the strict guidelines specified above.
