When Zac Met Jack

Nikki had been married to Daniel for four years now. Jack was now seven years old. He looked more like his father the older he became. He even had many personality traits of Zac’s that absolutely drove Nikki up the wall.

Even at such a young age, Jack loved to dance, act and sing, just like his father. He could sing beautifully. Daniel had commented, “It’s hardly surprising love, his parents can do all three as well, after all.”

In addition, Nikki had lost another two stone, which now had her at eleven stone and in a size twelve dress. She looked stunning at the age of twenty-six. She was on the list of some of the most beautiful women in the world. She had come out in the top twenty that year.

Nikki still met up with Amanda, Elijah and Brittany. Amanda and Elijah were Jack’s godparents. Elijah had informed her that he, along with Amanda and Brittany, were back on speaking terms with Zac. Surprisingly Nikki had been fine with this.

She had felt more than a little disturbed, after Amanda had told her that Zac was not the same as he once been. In fact, she swore he was only a shadow of what he had once been, at least in the personality department. His looks were even more handsome than ever, still considered a heartthrob to teenagers at the age of twenty-seven.

Elijah told her, “He almost seems constantly withdrawn, as if a vital spark in him died years ago. He hardly ever laughs anymore and whenever he does, there always seems to be a bitter, hollow, and hard edge to it.”

Brittany had added, “The gorgeous sparkle of laughter and lust for life, which used to be present in his eyes has done completely, it’s not even there dimly. It’s as if he’s just living day to day, like he no longer cares.”

They had told her this the last time they had visited for Jack’s seventh birthday. Nikki had been in tears and was relieved Daniel had not been at the house at the time. He had been playing golf with Rupert.

Elijah had also known something else that he had not and would not ever tell the girls. When he and Zac had been together, just the two of them one time, Zac had broken down and told Elijah everything. To say Elijah had been horrified would have surely been an understatement of the century.

Zac had told Elijah how much he hated Vanessa and thought she was having an affair, but had no real hard proof and could not confront her just in case he was wrong. He explained he was not in love with Vanessa and had only married her because he had gotten her pregnant.

He also revealed how he had married Vanessa regardless of the fact it had destroyed something vital inside of him. Elijah felt sick when Zac told him the only reason he was staying married to Vanessa, was because he believed he deserved to be in a marriage with a woman he did not love, but hated with a passion. All because of what he had done to Nikki all of those years ago.

Elijah wanted to be physically sick with grief and pity for the other man, when he had revealed he was in love with Nikki, always had been and always would be. He had realised he had chosen the wrong woman, but realised it too late. That the night he and Nikki shared was not a mistake, but was in fact the best night of his life.

He had also told him that the only way he could be with Vanessa sexually without being sick and being able to actually become aroused, was to imagine it was Nikki. He said he felt sickened by himself, that he been reduced to doing such a thing.

He admitted he loved and missed Nikki so badly, that it was like a constant physical ache, that he constantly felt sick with it. The only thing that was keeping him from going off at the deep end was his daughters and his career.

Elijah would never ever reveal anything of what Zac had told him, at least never to the girls. Although he had told James Marsden and John Travolta, both men had been horrified. They all hoped Zac did not lose it, they really did. How much heartache and misery could one simple human man withstand, before he snapped?

Elijah also knew Nikki had news that would surely destroy another little piece of his heart, at least what was left of it. Nikki had revealed to Amanda and Brittany, that she was four months pregnant with twins, Daniel’s twins.

Amanda had told him what Nikki had told her. Elijah had to stifle the urge to moan in pain, when Amanda had told him. Elijah deeply felt for Zac, he really did. What Zac had done to Nikki had been unforgivable, but never to the point of what Zac had endured. Zac had suffered a sight more than Nikki had.

In fact, Elijah and the girls were pissed at Nikki for this. Zac loved her, had already lost seven years of his son’s life, how many more would he lose. What Zac had done to Nikki had been cruel. However, what was now happening to Zac, well, that was evil, pure evil.
