Chapter Eight ~ Just Dance

I had made through the song, but there was still a long ending on the song. Michael and I brainstormed for lyrics and a melody to take up a lot of the space left in the song. What we had so far was good…but there needed to be more. Suddenly my mind came up with this brilliant idea. I ran it past Michael so nodded in approval. I wrote the lyrics down, remember the melody to both short verses. Michael ran the track from the middle, and I let it play until it was my spot to sing. So I sang the verses as I remembered them and the track slowly faded out. During the time that I went back into the studio, and the time I had finished, Will.I.am from the Black Eyed Peas joined Michael at the soundboard.
“Hey Crystal, come in here. I want you to listen to this.” Michael said, looking at me through the glass. I took off the headphones and joined Michael and Will.I.Am in front of the soundboard.
“Crystal this is Will.I.Am…from the…”
“Black-eyed peas…I know, I’m a fan” I said looking at Will I am. He offered his hand to me and I gladly shook it.
“William, and you’re name is…”
“Crystal,” I said looking at him as he retracted his hand. “So you’re a friend of Mike’s huh?”
“Yeah, believe it or not we met a couple of days ago. I showed him a song and now I’m here in his studio…” I said laughing at myself. He looked at Michael as if there was some sort of secret meaning behind it. Michael blushed.
“Man, you move fast…” He teased, jabbing Michael in the ribs. Michael laughed as I raised my eyebrows at the men.
“Did I miss something?” I asked looking at the both of them. Michael cleared his throat.
“Um…no…“ Michael said, looking clearly awkward. He shook his head. “I was just telling Will about your awesome talent, and he let me know that Kylie Minogue came to him and asked if he had any ideas for a song on her next album…”
“Really? Well are you going to? I’m a huge fan of Kylie’s too…”
“Well I haven’t decided yet…” Will said stopping, then he turned to Michael. “Weren’t you going to play the track back bro?” Michael’s eyes widened in remembrance.
“Oh yeah! Duh!” Michael said turning to the soundboard again. After fiddling with a couple of knobs and equalizers, the track started bumping through the speakers in the studio. William sat back in his chair and listened intently. I too listened to the track. Michael was really good, everything in the song went together well. I listened to my voice and cringed, I hated hearing my voice. As the song faded, William shot up from his seat. I thought he was going to yell at me from the look on his face, but he turned to me and smiled.
“You wrote this?” I nodded, feeling a little petrified.
“Hey Mike, why don’t we let the girl add some harmonies and we can send this as a demo to Kylie?” Will suggested, sounding excited. I was shocked.
“Wh--what!?! You mean send this to Kylie Minogue? Are you crazy? She’ll laugh her ass off…” Will turned to me and shot me a look that stopped me.
“Why would you say that? Do you not see your potential? You have a God-given gift for lyrics and melodies. You would make a killing being a songwriter…” I looked at him with a raised eyebrow. Michael looked at me and nodded.
“I’m a nobody, I’m just a hick from Montana who writes music for fun…”
“Crystal, I will make a bet with you, okay? I will send a copy of this to Kylie Minogue, if she rejects it I will pay for a vacation to any place of your choice…” I crossed my arms over my stomach.
“And if she accepts it?” I asked. Will chimed in.
“You become a professional songwriter…and…” He stopped to think for a second.
“I’ll sign you under my label for an album.” Michael said, winking at me. I shook my head.
“I have a horrid voice, nobody would buy my album. You can keep that end of your bargain…” Will shook his head.
“You don’t like singing?”
“I do like singing, but I hate my voice. Britney Spears sounds better than me in my opinion.”
“Nah, Britney can’t sing either, you’re way better than she is. She’s actually had vocal training and she still can’t hit notes right. With a little vocal training I think you’d be great.” Will asked looking at me.
“My voice is horrendous, I’ve had voice training, she said I had no hope.”
“Well that’s her, she was probably one of those classical voice trainers…did you have to sing a bunch of arias and foreign language stuff?” I nodded.
“I thought so. The type of training I do is for pop and hip hop singing. You’re vocal teacher you had would cringe at the stuff I would teach you. You have some of it already and that’s why you wouldn’t make their criteria.” Will said looking at me.
“That would make sense, I remember her preaching to me to stop listening to pop.” Will laughed.
“Their vocal training is great if you are going to become a opera diva or the next Celine Dion but for pop, you don’t need to have the greatest voice to be successful. So…will you let me work with you?” I nodded. We shared information and made an arrangement to meet every Wednesday. Meanwhile Michael got the track ready to record harmonies. I went back in the studio and recorded the harmonies. When I came back in, Will was sitting with his hands behind his head.
“Yeah, I think I got this one in the bag. She won’t be able to refuse this track.”
“Don’t be so sure, ego is a terrible thing to waste.” I said smirking. We all laughed. Michael burned the song onto a CD and handed it to Will. Will got up and started to walk out.
“Hey! You’re just gonna leave? Just like that? We got stuff to do!” Michael said looking at Will.
“I know, I just want to get this in the mail. I’m anxious to win man!” Will said looking at me. I gave a smirk of amusement, I knew he was going to win, but I liked playing hardball.
“Dream on Will, she’ll laugh!”
“Neva!!!” Will said, then his gaze switch at Michael who was still sitting at the soundboard. “You got a case and an envelop so I can send this out?” Will asked. Michael nodded and got up. Will was already headed up the stairs. Michael stopped in front of me.
“You did great,” Michael said running his hand down my upper arm where he lightly squeezed.
“Thanks, I can’t believe Will is going to send that to Kylie Minogue…”
“What is there not to believe, it’s a great song…look I have to help Will, then we need to spend some time in the studio, do you think you’ll be fine for a couple of hours?” Michael asked his eyes meeting mine. I nodded.
“Awesome.” Michael said, leaning down and kissing my lips, our kiss turned passion before dislodging. Michael gave me a playful smack on the booty as I walked out. I looked back and grinned as I watched him walk upstairs. I then turned around and walked into his dance studio. My bare feet touched the wood floor as I turned on the light. It was quaint, but enough to move around in. There was a stereo on the other side of the room and I walked over to it. I looked through his collection and I wasn’t surprised to find all of his music in there. My eyes ran across one that said “B’s final cut demo” Curious, I took it out and popped it in the CD player. The unmistakable voice of Britney Spears came bumping through the speakers. I let out a breath. What was it with her…I scanned through the CD. I liked several songs. This was off her new album that wasn’t even released yet.
“Hm…one of the perks of being famous.” I said keeping that CD out for later. I scanned his collection again and saw Brandy, Justin Timberlake, Usher, Whitney Houston, and others. He had a little of everything…most of it was danceable. I stuck with the Brandy, Usher and Justin Timberlake. I put them in his 5 disc changer, and began dancing, letting the music move me and letting go of reality. Adrenaline ran through my system, kicking my body into overdrive. Sweat began pouring soaking through the white t-shirt I was wearing, but I didn’t care, the adrenaline rush I was feeling was amazing. As the songs played I imagined myself dancing for an audience that didn’t exist. Time flew but I didn’t care. As Britney’s “Get Naked.” played my eyes opened and looked into the mirror to see Michael sitting in a chair in the corner. I turned around and walked over to him. I started giving a lap dance while lip-syncing the lyrics of the song. I ground myself on his thigh as my right hand ran up his other thigh. Then I turned around and shook my hips and dipped low, showing off my assets.

After a lunch of chicken salad sandwiches and fresh fruit, Michael and I decided to pick Nadine up at her aunts and go shopping. Michael went to change his pants as I grabbed my cell phone out of my purse and turned it back on. There were 5 new voicemails but I didn’t bother to check them as I dialed Nadine’s cell phone number.
“Hey Nadine, what’s up?”
“Oi! Not a whole lot, just have a damn hangover.” Nadine’s voice rang through the receiver.
“I’m sorry…shouldn’t have been at the club last night huh?”
“I had a blast! But I had too much to drink!” Nadine said. I giggled.
“Yeah we did too, hey where are you?”
“I’m at my aunts, why?”
“Well we wanted to do something with you.” I said. She gave her address. Meanwhile Michael was in a pair of new slacks, calling up a limo service.
“Hey Crystal, how did Jason get my number?”
“I don’t know…oh wait, yes I do, I used his phone to call you when I found out that I was able to come and visit you. He probably dug up the number on his recent calls list.” I said biting my lip. “Why? He’s been bothering you?”
“Yeah he said that he was going to come over because he wanted to see Ireland.”
“Okay what did you tell him? You didn’t tell him to come over did you?”
“Well, I…”
“Nadine…what did you tell Jason?”
“Well I kind of told him to go ahead…”
“You did what!?!?!” I screamed, nearly dropping my phone.

“Crystal chill, he won’t do it. He doesn’t have that kind of money…you have the good paying job remember?”
“Nadine that’s not the fucking point! He can easily borrow the money! He fucking cheated on me and you just told him ‘Come on over Jason’. How the fuck am I supposed to tell a man who doesn’t get the point that its over between the two of us to go back home after he came over 3000 miles to fucking see me. What the hell do you expect me to say!?!?”
“Don’t fucking bite my head off damn it! You didn’t even tell me he cheated on you! How the hell was I supposed to know. I figured that he was being sincere about coming over here to see Ireland because he missed you so much! fuck!” I took a deep breath. I gave a small laugh.
“He can persuade a person to give both kidneys…oh fuck what am I going to do…” I said looking at my phone, remembering the five voicemails.
“Don’t you leave like…tomorrow?” Nadine said, looking at me. I realized that she was right.
“Yeah, hell…those two weeks went by too fast…”
“I know…but what I’m thinking, is that you’ll be out of here before he gets here…if weather permits it.”
“Yeah…I guess I really don’t have anything to worry about…”
“That’s what I thought, so when are you guys coming over?” Michael then took the phone from me. “Hey!!!!”
“Hey Nadine,”
“Michael give me back the phone!”
“Yeah that’s good…oh yeah it was great. I liked your costume…” I glared at him. Then a devious plan popped in my head. I listened to Michael’s conversation as he sat down on the couch.
“Yeah…well I would think that’s none of your business Nadine…” Michael said a light blush coming to his face. His eyes met mine then averted to his nails. “But yes, we did.” Nadine must have been asking him some personal questions because he was blushing. The girl must have wanted to talk to me but Michael was persistent. He wanted to irritate me. But two could play that game. I leaned over the back of the couch and pulled his hair back and started whirling my tongue on the outside of his earlobe. Michael cringed.
“Oh really, she is now huh? Well thank you for telling me….yes we need to do that…I’ll think of something…right now? She trying to give me a wet willie…” Michael swatted me away as he moved away. I wasn’t done though, I hurried around the couch as sat on Michael’s lap my hand on the inside of his thigh. Michael’s voice began to waiver as my hand slowly inched its way up his thigh.
“Y…yeah…no I’m waiting for a limo…yes a limousine…you’ve never ridden in one…well there’s a first time for everything…” Michael said, trying so hard to concentrate on the conversation. He tried to cross his legs a couple of times but I kept pulling them apart.
“Crystal’s being an annoying little twit right now…what is she doing? I don’t think you want to know Nadine, but she’s being very bad…” When I was just about to touch his crotch Michael’s hand grabbed mine and pulled it away.
“Nadine, I gotta let you go, the limo’s here…yep see ya in a lil bit. Bye.” Michael said, causing me to look over my shoulder out the window and sure enough the limo was there. He closed my flip phone, and looked at me.
“You’ve been naughty…I’m gonna punish you real good.” Michael whispered, grabbing my purse and tossing my phone in it before handing it to me. I grabbed it with my right hand as Michael grabbed my left. I got up quickly, then Michael shot up and started leading me out the door, not before grabbing his aviators off an end table near the door. I forgot my jacket.
“Michael wait, my jacket…” He stopped and turned around, his eyes meeting mine.
“I’ll get it, go out to the limo, I need to think about how exactly I’m going to punish you.” He said, walking past me. I stood there in the door way pausing for a moment before heading out to the limousine. The bitter fall air hit me and goose bumps left their signature on my exposed arms. I wrapped my arms around me to keep my body heat close as I walked to the limo. As I neared the limo, the chauffeur stepped out and walked around the vehicle and opened the door. I thanked the man and stepped inside the luxurious vehicle. The man stood by the open door and greeted Michael. Michael paused and I heard his muffled voice telling the chauffeur something that I couldn’t make out. He then entered the vehicle with a mischievous look on his face as he handed me my jacket. I took it and went to put it on, but Michael stopped me. He pressed a button on the door and the privacy glass went up. Instead he grabbed my hand and put it on his crotch. I felt his erection through the fabric of his slacks.
“Do you see what you did?” Michael said, playfully raising a perfectly shaped eyebrow. I bit my lip.

But give me a chance, please?” Tears started falling down my cheeks at Michael’s admission.
“I’m torn Michael. A part of me wants to run away with you, yet a part of me wants to see what Jason is going to do. Nadine told me that he’s on his way over here now. I mean, I just can’t let him travel all this way and him leave here empty handed…you know?” Michael drew in a deep breath and wiped away the tears from my face.
“Crystal I will give you all the time that you need. I have placed all my cards on the table for you, I just don’t want you to get hurt again.” Michael said, grasping my small hand in his large one. I looked down at our hands, intertwined.
“For what its worth…I love you…” I said, our eyes met and Michael kissed me.
“I love you too.”
