-December 8th, 2013-
“Minho are you sure their flight was supposed to come in at 5:40? It's almost 6:30...” Crystal sighed in protest. I let out a breath and checked my watch again. Sure enough, it was 6:26pm, both Crystal and Jasmine were with me and were growing hungry.
"I'll text Key." I said, pulling out my phone and shooting a text to the flamboyant diva. The reply was instantaneous.
We hit a storm, but we're landing now. See you in 15.
"They're landing now. Let's go meet them at the gate." I said, my eyes meeting Crystal's. She nodded, calling Jasmine over from the vending machines.
“Momma, I'm hungry...” Jasmine said in her 5 year-old demeanor. I heard Crystal let out a heavy sigh.
“I know honey, come on, we'll go to the snack area and get you something...” Crystal turned to me and our eyes met for a moment.
“I'm going to get her a snack, you want anything?” Crystal offered. I merely shook my head in response. “Okay,” Crystal replied, grabbing Jasmine's hand as they left to the snack area on the other side of the tiny airport. My eyes followed them until they were lost within the crowd. Meanwhile, I had headed over to Terminal A, where I knew Key and Jinki's flight would be arriving to. I was keeping an eye on Crystal and Jasmine when a familiar voice snapped my attention away.
“Aigoo! Minho! Pabo, is that you?” I heard in familiar Korean causing me to snap my head forward and my eyes met those of Key's. His head was fire engine red with black stripes. It was so different. It would take a while to get used to it.
“Key-hyung! Daebak! Welcome!” I said, opening my arms as he ran and met my embrace with an embrace of his own.
“Aigoo! Look at you! Minho! Aish, I barely recognize you!” Came another voice behind Key, it was the unmistakable voice of the leader, Jinki-hyung. He embraced me as soon as Key had stepped away from me.
“Aigoo! Hyung, your...muscly! Your not soft like tofu anymore!” This issued a laugh from Jinki, as he pulled away.
“Yah! Where's your lady...Cr—-Christina...Crystal? Yeah, Crystal...where is she?”
“She went to grab--”
“Oh my GOD! Key! Jinki! Anneyonghaseyo!” This caused Jinki, Key and myself to turn around.
“Annyeonghaseyo! You must be Crystal!” Key said, being the first to stretch his arms out and envelop Crystal in a hug. “Good to finally meet you!”
“Likewise! God this is crazy!” Jinki was next in line to give Crystal a hug.
“Annyeonghaseyo Crystal! Finally glad to meet face to face.”
“Yes, Minho hasn't stopped talking about you guys, but I don't blame him, you guys are pretty awesome.”
“Mommy, it's SHINee!”
“Aw...” Key said, as his eyes landed on Jasmine. “Who is this?!?”
“I'm Jasmine! I'm five! My mommy loves you guys!” This time Jinki got down on one knee to bring himself to the same height as Jasmine.
“I see. Jasmine, do you know any of our songs?”
Suddenly I was surprised as well as Crystal when she broke out in “Ring Ding Dong”. Key and Jinki laughed and I couldn't help but start dancing and singing with Jasmine. I joined in, and from the corner of my eye Crystal was blushing but singing along as well. We were drawing strange looks from the passers-by. Jasmine laughed and stopped singing.
“Yeah, you guys are good...” Jasmine said, a huge smile appearing on her features. Jinki and Key laughed again, with Key holding out his hand.
“Would you like to walk with me Jasmine? If mommy says yes.” Key asked, looking at Crystal who nodded.
“Sure.” Jasmine said as she began walking hand and hand and wheeling his baggage behind him.
“Winter's here are insane! Chicago's O' Hare airport shut down after my flight left out...” Key commented. Jinki chimed in next.
“Can you believe that tomorrow it's supposed to be negative twenty five? That's the actual temperature. I need to buy a thick winter jacket Minho...I'm going to freeze otherwise.”
"Well North Dakota winters aren't for the faint of heart. We can get you a jacket while we're out.” Crystal commented before turning to me. “You want to head to Menard's Minho, we'll pick Jinki up a winter jacket before heading for dinner.” I nodded as we exited the Airport and walked to my car.
“Ooh nice wheels Minho...this is the new car you bought?”
“Neh...” I said pressing the trunk button on the remote to pop the trunk. Key allowed Crystal to grab Jasmine to put her in the car while Key and Jinki placed their luggage into the trunk.
“I call dibs on shot-gun.” Jink said causing a strange look to come from Key.
“Sure thing Jinki, I'll sit in back with Jasmine.”
“What the hell did you just say? What's dibs?”
“He just called the front seat, dibs is like having your turn at something first. It's slang. We call the front seat 'the shotgun.'” Crystal explained, as she got into the car next to her daughter with Key entering the backseat next to her.
“You Americans are strange. Always coming up with strange words for the most random things...”
“I'm surprised you haven't heard that...” I heard Crystal say as I got into drivers seat while Jinki got into the passenger's side next to me. I put the key into the ignition and turned the key. The vehicle was already running, I had remote start on the car and it made life a lot easier.
“So Crystal, what type of jacket would you recommend? Since you've been living here your whole life?”
“Well that would depend on how much money you plan on spending. I can find you a warm jacket with two hundred bucks, but I can also find you a jacket for twenty bucks...”
“How about I meet you halfway and say a hundred?”
“Okay. I'm sure I can find you something.”
“We're still going to Menards?”
“Yep.”
The conversation on the way to Menards consisted on the cold weather and getting to know Crystal better. I could tell Key was trying to put in a decent effort to get to know Crystal, but I got the vibe that he didn't particularly care for her, especially after everything that happened between Taemin and I.
When we did arrive at Menards Crystal and Jinki left. I told Crystal that it would be okay to leave Jasmine in the car with Key and I. Key let the false fascade fall as he began to speak in Korean.
“I don't see what you see in her...you broke Taemin's heart, I hope you know that.” I gave Jasmine my phone at this point, putting it on a drawing app so the five year old could draw. Key wasn't going to shut up until we had this explanation.
“Key...do we have to talk about this now? Her daughter's right there.”
“Not like she can understand us...we're speaking a foreign language.”
“I don't care Key.”
“Does she dump her kid on you often?”
“What the hell kind of question is that?” I was getting upset. Where did he get these ideas from? Did he not hear me offer to take Jasmine earlier?
“It's a perfectly legit question, she doesn't seem like a good mother...”
“She's an excellent mother, it's no place of yours to judge...besides I offered to watch Jasmine while Jinki and Crystal went inside...”
“Oh really? I must have missed that, but seriously, is the pussy that good that you're willing to put the band's reputation on the line?”
“Excuse me?” I shot back in English, I could believe the audacity Key was coming at me with.
“What? You're sleeping with her aren't you?”
“For your information, I'm not. We're not in a relationship, I'm not gay...I don't see Taemin that way...” Key was silent for a moment, but I could see the gears turning.
“If this turns into a relationship, are you willing to be a daddy to her?” His eyes averted to the backseat where Jasmine was. I nodded.
“You know Key, you can't help who you fall in love with...”
“So you admit you love her?”
“Yes. I thought that was obvious...”
“I thought you loved Taemin...”
“I love him like a brother, nothing more, nothing less. As far as Jasmine's concerned, the girl needs a father figure in her life...”
“Well that's noble and all, but I think you're making a mistake...”
“Well it's not your place to judge. I don't judge your relationship with Jonghyun therefore you should give me the same liberty.”
“Excuse me for having concern for my friend...”
“Look Taemin will get over it. He's resilient like that.”
“I wasn't referring to Taemin...I think you're delusional to think that Crystal is the one for you. The last thing you need to be is a father. What about SHINee?”
“Nothing's going to change Key.”
“Whatever. You're obviously set on the idea of catering to her and her little one...I wish you luck.”
“Thank you. Don't have an attitude with Crystal either, she doesn't deserve it. Maybe if you can just give her a chance...”
“Minho, I'll give her a chance, but if she gives me a reason not to like her, so help me...”
“Point taken. Why does this concern you so much...”
“You're my friend Minho, sometimes we don't see eye to eye on things...”
“Like your relationship with Jonghyun...”
“What's wrong with my relationship?”
“It's unhealthy..”
“You know what? Forget I asked.” That issued an eye roll from me.
“Fine but you know I'm right.”
“Aigoo, whatever...So what are we doing after this?”
“We're having dinner than I'll drop Crystal off at her place.”
“Ah...cool.” Key said, “Hopefully the place has chicken, Jinki's been cranky...”
After a dinner at Grizzly's where Jinki managed to finish a whole fire-roasted chicken by himself, I dropped Crystal off. Key did as he promised, and gave her a chance, and warmed up to her. Both Jinki and Key wished Crystal farewell and Jasmine gave both of my band mates a hug before departing.
“Hey Minho, text me if you decide to do anything tomorrow...” Crystal said, before shutting her door. I nodded.
“I will Crystal...thanks for coming...”
“Not a problem. Have a good night you guys.” She said in parting. Crystal had managed to do well for herself. She moved into a larger two bedroom apartment and was happy.
“Her place seems nice...” Jinki remarked as he watched Crystal and Jasmine go inside her apartment building.
“Yeah, she's done well for herself since she dumped her boyfriend.” I said putting the car in reverse and backing out of the parking space.
“He wasn't nice to her?” Key asked.
“No, he was abusive...” I said, as I put the car and drive and made my way back to the Guest Lodge that I was staying at.
“That's sad. She seems like a nice girl. Aren't you with her Minho?” Jinki asked, looking at me. I shook my head.
“No...” I said trailing off.
“Ah, that's a shame. I thought you two would've made it official by now...is she still hurting?”
“Wait a second, Jinki, you knew about this?” Key asked caught off guard by Jinki's statement.
“Yeah, I've known about Minho's feelings for a while...” Jinki said, answering his donsaeng's question. I just ignored Key's interjection and answered Jinki's quesiton.
“Yeah, she's still hurt by him. I'm giving her space to sort everything out, our feelings are mutual hyung, but she doesn't jump into another relationship so quickly.”
“It's been a couple of months hasn't it?” Jinki asked, looking at me. I nodded as I turned into the frontage road that ran in front of the motel.
“Yeah, I'm not in a hurry though hyung...I can wait.” I said, as I turned into the parking lot and pulled into a parking space.
“That's good, you were always a patient one.”
“Thanks hyung. Come on, we're here...”
“This is where you're staying?” Key chimed in, seeming caught off guard by the quaint motel.
“Yeah, its cheap, and had extended stay rates...its clean. A bit noisy at times, but that's what I have ear plugs for.”
“Ah...let's go inside.” Jinki said, as he got out of the car. I popped the trunk so my hyungs could grab their luggage.
Once inside the guys got settled and played Kai Bai Bo to see who would get the floor. Key ended up losing, but being the nice man he is, Jinki told Key he could have the bed the next night. They took turns getting ready in the bathroom, Key going first coming out in a white t-shirt and pajama pants then he was followed by Jinki who came out in a black t-shirt and flannel pajama pants. I was last. I chose a black tank top and some sweat pants for my sleep ensemble.
“So, tell me more about Crystal, Minho...”
“Well what do you want to know?” I asked my hyung. Jinki's eyes widened as he was stumped on what to say.
“Aish, Jinki you are hopeless...what type of things does she like? What does she do in her spare time?” Key asked, tossing a pillow at Jinki, who just laughed and dodged it.
“She likes to cook, she obviously likes music and creating it, she likes to write...she also likes to storm chase...”
“Storm chase? What's that?” Jinki asked.
“Crystal took me once, basically you watch storms develop into what she called supercells. They're beautiful...in their own way. Sometimes they create tornadoes. Here, I took some pictures...” I said, grabbing my digital camera and flipping through the pictures to find the ones I took this last summer.
“Aigoo...these clouds turned into this? Look how dark they are Jinki...you didn't get struck by lightning or anything did you?” Key asked, raising an eyebrow at me. I shook my head.
“No. Almost though.” I said, laughing. “Crystal got scared when the lightning begun to get too close.”
“Oh my gosh, Minho what is that? Is that a...funnel cloud?” I glanced at the picture that he was talking about before handing the camera to Jinki who flipped through the pictures.
“Oh yeah! That was another reason Crystal wanted to get out of there...a funnel started to come down in the distance. It never did come to the ground though...the sirens in town were going off.”
“Do you get these storms often up here? We get them all the time in Texas. They're scary, we had tennis ball size hail once. It did so much damage at the ranch. I've never seen that, like ever! The wind that comes with them is strong too, it nearly blows you off your feet. The sky gets dark too, it'll be sunny one minute, the next it's pitch dark, you have to use flashlights to see.” Jinki said, as he handed the camera back to me and I put it back on the shelf.
“No. Like once or twice a month during the summer. She seems very knowledgeable about it. I learned a lot from her that day. She even showed me some of the stuff her mother taught her.”
“Her mother? Have you met her?”
“No, she passed away last year. I've met her brother and father.”
“Oh that's sad. What does her other family think of you?”
“Her family is protective of her. They don't want her to get hurt again.”
“So they're cautious then?”
“Yeah,”
“Here's a question, have you kissed her yet?” I felt my cheeks grow warm at Key's direct question.
“Yeah,” I said, a smirk coming on my features.
“Ooh. Details.”
“No. No details.”
“Come on Minho, don't be that way to your hyungs, we want to know.” Jinki said, his eyes meeting mine. I shrugged.
“Yeah Minho.”
“She's a good kisser okay? I don't know why I'm telling you this...” I said feeling embarrassed, bringing my hand up to hide my face.
“Did it feel right when you kissed her?”
“I guess so...”
“I'm happy for you Minho, I just want to make sure that this is what you want in your life...there are other girls out there you know.” Jinki said.
“Yeah, ones that don't already have children...” Key added snidely.
“Kibum...” Jinki scolded looking at Key.
“Jinki, you know none of us are prepared to take care of a child, especially one from another failed relationship.”
“That's Minho's choice...”
“Well, I'm trying to make him see the error in that choice...” Key said, rolling his eyes before grabbing his phone and becoming absorbed in that. Jinki turned his eyes to me.
“Forget Kibum, you obviously know what you want and neither of us are in the place to judge you based upon that.”
“Thank you hyung. I really do like Crystal, I know that she's completely opposite of what people expect but I think that's part of the allure too.”
“Well I'm happy for you Minho, but you realize that she's only going to get hurt right? Once our year is up, you probably won't see her again.” Jinki said, drawing patterns on the comforter with his fingers.
“I realize that, that's why I am taking my time with this. The last thing I want to do is hurt her.”
“All right, enough about Crystal already, I want to discuss ideas about Minho's birthday tomorrow...”
We decided that we would go out to breakfast first thing in the morning, then catch a matinee in the afternoon before getting ready and going out drinking that night. Jinki and Key wanted to get me drunk, and I didn't mind letting them. We decided to call it a night shortly after that.
-The next day. Minho's Birthday-
We went to Denny's for an all-American breakfast, then went to the mall and shopped around for a but before grabbing lunch at Burger King (upon Key's request) then we went to watch Homefront with Jason Stratham, which is what all of us guys needed was a good action movie to get our blood pumping. After the movie, we went to a Japanese steakhouse and had some sushi fishing a bottle of soju and sake between all three of us, we watched the chefs sing and play on the teppanaki grills from our vantage point at the sushi bar.
Having our fill of delicious food and entertainment, Jinki paid handsomely for our meals claiming to want to take care of his dongsaengs. I allowed him to, only because it was my birthday. It a bit before eight when we got back to my hotel. I sent Crystal a text to see what she was up to.
Hey Crystal, what are you doing tonight? You don't work do you?
I patiently awaited a response. A minute or two passed and my phone chimed with a text message.
Hey Happy Birthday Minho, I don't work tonight and I don't plan on doing anything, did you have something in mind?
I smiled, and my fingers swiped the small keyboard.
Good, Jinki and Key want to take me out, I'll let you know the location. Did you want to ride with us, or take your own car?
I pressed send and moments later, my phone chimed.
I'll ride with you guys, the least I can do is be a designated driver so you can enjoy your night.
I smiled, and Jinki must have seen it.
“You must be texting Crystal...what did she say?”
“She's willing to be a designated driver.”
“Yes! We can get wasted.” I roll my eyes at my hyung. Jinki looked at me with a small smirk on his face, rolling his eyes as well at Key in agreement at Key's ridiculous statement.
“What time should I tell her to meet us?”
“Whatever time you want to go out. Have you decided on a bar yet?”
“Probably the Starlight...”
“Aish, that place looks like such a dive...” Key commented, his eyes meeting mine. He was scrolling through his instagram.
“It's the only one I've been to, it's not that bad...”
“Right...” Key said, rolling his eyes again. “Let me do some research, I'm sure there's a better place...” I rolled my eyes at my hyung. “Ooh! See! It's called the Original Bar...you can dance and drink...sounds like fun.”
“Okay. We'll check it out, but I've heard nothing but bad things about that place.” I said, opening a new text to Crystal.
Key wants to go to the Original Bar, you've heard of it?
My phone chimed with a response.
Yeah, are you sure? That place is usually for the college kids
My fingers swiped the keyboard provided and swiped the send button.
Well we're all college aged except you.
Her response came quickly.
Are you calling me old?
Shaking my head and laughing, I swiped my message into the keyboard and sent it. I looked at my previous message. Wow. I really need to look at what I send from now on. I had implied she was old.
No that wasn't what I meant. Will you meet us outside your apt? Say around 9?
Her response was quick once again.
Okay, I'll get a hold of a babysitter for Jasmine, I'll let you know when I'm ready.
A pillow hit my face. Key was the culprit as he hit meagain.
“HEY! STOP!”
“Stop smiling! You're hopeless.”
“Why am I hopeless?”
“Cause you're in love with her...”
“So? Damn. Don't you have some make-up to put on or something?”
“Whatever Choi Minho.” And with that Key grabbed his make-up bag and walked into the bathroom. Jinki turned to me, closing his book.
“So what did Crystal say?”
“She needs to find a babysitter. She'd let us know when she's ready for us to pick her up.”
“Ah I see. Anyone else you wanted to invite perhaps?”
“No, Alexis and Sarah are both busy, they wished me a happy birthday though.” Jinki nodded. I glanced at the clock, and it was a little after eight.
“Let's get ready for tonight.” Jinki said as he got off the bed and grabbed some clothes out of his luggage carrier. I went over to the dresser and contemplated what I wanted to wear.
-9:13pm-
We were on our way downstairs when my phone chimed, I knew it was Crystal. I didn't bother taking the phone out. Decked out in heavy winter coats, we walked out to my car which was already started and warmed up. I loved my automatic starter.
I drove out to Crystal's apartment complex and she came out in a white puffy jacket and leggings with black boots with black fur on the top underneath her knee. Her hair was down, and fell in gentle waves that blew gently way from her beautiful face. I heard Key and Jinki suck in a breath. I found myself holding my breath as well.
“Aigoo...she's...” Key began, he was speechless.
“Glowing. White's a good color on her.”
“...Pretty. I'll give her that.” Key said, sitting back in his seat as Crystal came around to my side of the car and opened the door. Stepping into the vehicle, the smell of her perfume wafted in with the breeze. Damn, she was wearing my favorite perfume.
“Hello Crystal, how are you?”
“I'm good Jinki, how are you?”
“I'm doing well...better now you are here...” I shot Jinki a sideways glance.
“Oh...well good...” I could tell just from Crystal's sudden shyness that she was blushing. It unnerved me a little but I focused on driving. I heard Key finally take in a breath followed by him sniffing the air. Oh jeez, now he was going to chime in.
“What...what is that smell?” He leaned it toward Crystal. “Oh it's your perfume...it smells wonderful...is it Ed Hardy?”
“Yeah it is actually, how'd you know?”
“He makes very distinctive perfumes. I wish he would come out with something for guys. I would buy it in a heart beat.”
“Well, I liked some of his perfumes, Hearts and Daggers has got to be one of my all time favorites, I also like Jennifer Lopez's lines of perfumes too.”
“America has such a choice when it comes to perfume. You guys have lots of choices for a lot of different things actually...”
The conversation consisted of the differences between Korea and America that the guys had seen. I pulled up to The Original Bar and turned off the ignition. The guys took that as a cue that it was time to end their conversation and get out of the car. I helped Crystal out and we walked hand and hand into the crowded, musty bar. Some pop song was blasting through the speakers as we entered. I located the bar and guided everyone over to it. Key ordered shots of Patron, he looked at Crystal, taking off his jacket and placing it on the back of a nearby chair.
“You want a drink?”
“Uh, just a sprite or something.” Jinki shook his head.
“Come on Crystal, you got to have a couple of drinks with us...”
“I'm driving though, I can't!” Just then Key added another shot to his order, slapping two twenties on the counter which were taken to by the busy bartender as he began pouring the drinks.
“Ah...too bad...I already got you one.” Key said, taking one of the full shot glasses off the counter and handing it to Crystal. Crystal rolled her eyes, knowing her fate was sealed as soon as she took that shot in her hand. Key was relentless when it came to drinking. Crystal was supposed to be our designated driver, but Key was about to smash through whatever iron-will she had. No matter what it took, he was going to get her drunk tonight. I forgot to mention that tid-bit to her. Now I was regretting it.
“Key...”
“Oh it's just one shot, it's not going to get you drunk, trust me.” He said his hand still holding the shot in his hand, eyebrow cocked and his eyes locked on hers. Crystal eyes dodged back and forth for a moment between the shot in Key's hand and Key's eyes before taking the shot in her hand and nodding.
“Fine, I'll have a couple of shots with you guys but after that I'm cutting myself off...” Jinki and I looked at each other, both knowing that just gave Key more leeway to push more alcoholic drinks down Crystal's throat. They both didn't know how hard-headed Crystal could be...but she also liked having a good time, she knew her limits. With a smirk on Key's face, he handed Jink and I our shots.
“Saengilchukahamnida Choi Minho! Sexy motherfucker!” Key toasted.
“Happy Birthday Minho!” Crystal toasted next.
“Saegilchukahamnida Minho, I hope we get to celebrate more with you!” Jinki toasted last, we pushed out shot glasses together in a noisy collision before each of us partaking of the bitter tequila shots. The alcohol burned it's way down my throat, causing my eyes to water and I howled out. As soon as his shot glass hit the counter, Key called out for the next round of shots, adding a ten to the $16 that was already left over from his purchase earlier.
“You don't waste any time do you?” Crystal said, pushing her shot glass next to his. “I'll get the next round after this one...” Crystal said handing Key two twenties. Jinki also dug in his wallet and handed Key some money.
“We don't have time to waste noona...” His eyes fell to her puffy jacket and his head cocked to the side. “Aren't you hot?”
“Not really.” Jinki's eyes widened.
“”Hey guys, there's an empty table over there, lets go sit.”
“Ooh yeah, Key, you got the drinks?”
“What should I get? Do you want Patron again?”
“You should get Jack Daniels...it's good.”
“Jack Daniels it is.” Key said, nodding as we walked over to the table that Jinki had pointed.
“Crystal, if you don't want to drink, you don't have to. Key's got a way of pressuring people...”
“It's okay Jinki, I know my limit, I won't go past it. After the shot of Jack I'll call it quits...”
“No...you don't understand, Key will force drinks down your throat...he's very sly about doing it.” I warned, taking my coat off and setting it on the back of my chair before sitting down. Crystal followed my lead and unzipped her jacket, revealing a silver chunky turtleneck sweater that ended at her mid-thigh. Around her neck, underneath the turtleneck sat a black rhinstone floral necklace which matched her earrings. She looked beautiful, irresistable to be precise. I glanced at Jinki and his jaw was dropped as Crystal took a seat across from me. A twinge of jealousy struck through me, and for a split second I wanted to cuss Jinki out. I took a breath and erased that thought. Wow. That was scary. My eyes averted back to Crystal and I could see Key coming back to us from the bar with a the various shots, of all different colors, from clear, to green, red, blue and of course amber.
“Let's get this party started...”
“Key! What the--” Crystal started her eyes widening at the display of alcohol in front of her. I already knew what was going to happen. Key was going to get her drunk. Key always believed a person's true nature came out when they were drunk.
“Did I go overboard?” Key asked, trying to play the innocent card. Crystal didn't pick up on his game she was about to become an unwilling participant in. I wanted to see if Key could really pull this off. Crystal could be stubborn, and she could give Key a run for his money. I was going to keep my mouth shut and see how things would play out. It could be very amusing by the end of the night.
“Um...I'd say. How much money did you spend?”
“Well...”
“Well you guys are going to be wasted by the end of the night.”
“Noona's not going to drink with us?”
“I'll take one more shot with you guys, but after that I'm done...”
“Aw, noona doesn't want to dance?”
“I don't know, I haven't decided yet.”
“Would noona dance with me if I asked?” Key was beginning to pour on the aegyo, he must have had a couple more shots while he was waiting for his order to be filled.
“Would you stop spending your money on expensive shots if I asked?” Crystal shot back, putting Key in his place. His lips formed an small 'o' as the gears turned in his head to figure out a way to get his way.
“I will, only if you help us clear what we have here in front of us...” There it was, Jinki and I switched our glances back and forth between the two. I could tell that Jinki wanted to know if Crystal could resist Key's endearing nature.
“Hm... you really want to see me drunk, don't you Key?” She sniffed him out. Crystal was a sly vixen but I had a feeling Key wasn't done.
“I'd be lying if I said no.” There was a pause as Key looked down at the shots that lay before us and took one, the hue of the liquid was blue. “How about a game...”
“A game? What kind of game?” Crystal asked, looking at Key suspiciously.
“Well not all of these shots are alcohol. There are eight shots here that aren't alcohol...”
“So you want me to choose a non-alcoholic one.”
“Hm...you don't miss a beat...yes. Can you do it?”
“Well fuck, that's easy.” Crystal said as she reached for a red shot.
“Ah-ah, you only get to choose one shot, and you can't smell it before you drink it.” Key said smirking.
“I'm pretty confident...” Crystal said, as her hand closed around it and put it to her lips. Tipping the glass back, she emptied the red liquid and stopped as the liquid filled her mouth. She swallowed it, shooting an icy glare at Key as she put down the now empty shot glass. Key busted out laughing.
“You fucker! You fucking tricked me. They're all alcohol aren't they...”
“Yep. Drink up buttercup.” Key said, raising his glass to Crystal before finishing the shot.
“Key! That's dirty.” Jinki said, grabbing a shot as well now and taking a shot. Not wanting to be left out, I grabbed a shot glass full of what looked like Jack Daniels and swallowed the fiery liquid.
“She's a tough cookie, I can't believe she actually fell for it. Perhaps Minho and her aren't that different after all, I did the same thing to him a time or two too.” Key said shamelessly, taking another shot glass and pouring the contents in his mouth. Jinki nodded.
“Fuck it, Happy Birthday Minho.” Crystal said, grabbing another two shots and handing one to me. We toasted. She then flipped her middle finger at Key while we partook of the alcohol.
“Cheers to you too motherfucker.”
Jinki and I taught Crystal how to play some Korean drinking games, which after a few failures and shots, she wised up and began outplaying us. The game came to an end, when Key took the last shot. Checking the clock, it was a little past midnight.
“Aish...what to do now...alcohol is expensive here...” Key managed to slur. He was two sheets to the wind, and Jinki wasn't any better. Hell I was riding that fine line somewhere between pretty drunk and sloppy drunk. Crystal...well she managed to stay the most sober. She was still able to drive...barely.
She stopped at a liquor shop on the way to get more alcohol upon Key's whining not that he needed it, but my night wasn't over yet.
Crystal said something about her daughter spending the night with her dad or something and we ended up at her place. Knowing if we took the party to my motel, it would get really cramped and the police would be called. Crystal's apartment complex was more isolated and was more spacious.
We all stumbled into her apartment. Crystal went straight to the computer and turned on some music while we all sat down on the couch. Jinki squinted and pointed at the kinect that connected to her Xbox 360. Crystal was busy in the kitchen making drinks for everyone.
“Hey...is that...a....kinect?”
“Yeah, you want me to turn it on?” Crystal asked.
“Oh no...I'm drrrruunnnkk. Thankku though.” Jinki said, slurring.
“Aigoo, this couch...is...fucking....comfortable...” Key said, his speech was slow. “Minho the room is going spinny spinny make it stop...”
“I know.” I said agreeing.
Crystal came in with our drinks, screwdrivers for all three of us, while she had rum and pepsi mixed together in a Coke glass. Irony at its best.
“Cryssstaaalll...I like you. I didn't at first though...but I can say now...you and I? We'll be the best of friends. Hwaiting?”
“Hwaiting!” Crystal said offering her hand up for a high-five but instead Key grabbed her hand and pulled her in on top of him and wrapped his arms around her waist. She let out a squeal of surprise. Something in me snapped.
“What the fuck are you doing!?!” I snapped.
“I'm hugging her...fuck off.”
“Get your hands off her.” I said, glaring at him.
“Minho...don't...” Jinki whined.
“Fine!” Key said letting Crystal go, I took her by her hand and drug her into the bedroom.
“Minho what the fuck!” My lips met hers in a bruising kiss. I was fully expecting her to push me away but instead she melted into the kiss and allowed my tongue to enter her mouth. Before we knew it, I was removing her sweater, revealing a white push-up bra and she already had removed shirt and was now working on my belt. Fuck...too much...too fast...
My calves hit the bed frame and I fell backwards onto the bed, breaking our lip-lock. Crystal pounced on me and her legs came to straddled my hips. Her hands reached up behind her, I realized, she was unclasping her bra. The soft mounds of flesh sprung loose from the confines of the bra which she tossed on the other side of the room. The centers were marked by large dark brown nipples with pert points. I placed my hands on her waist to steady her, but she pushed my hands up to cup her voluptuous breasts and my breath hitched in my throat. Was this happening? Was this for fucking real? This isn't some wet dream again?
“Minho...you've done this before? Haven't you?”
“Um...I...no.” I stuttered my eyes meeting Crystal's.
“Oh...” Crystal said, meeting my eyes for a moment before staring at her hand that was drawing tantalizing circles on my bare chest. “Would you...want to?”
“Um...” My animalistic side was saying 'hell fucking yes' but it was obvious, she had been drinking, and I was definitely drunk. “I want to...but...” I said, getting up as she got off of me.
“That's fine.” Crystal said, quickly retreating, I could tell I had let her down. She quickly put her bra back on and grabbed her shirt, pulling it over her head.
“Crystal.” She stopped, looking at me.
“I thought maybe...”
“Crystal's it's not you. You're amazing, you're irresisible, I just don't want to do this with my hyungs in the other room.”
“Why did you lead me on?”
“I just got jealous, I'm sorry.”
“Whatever. I need some fresh air.” She said, walking out of her bedroom and grabbing her jacket. Key and Jinki had managed to find a show to watch on TV, hearing Crystal grab her keys they turned their heads.
“Crystal, are you okay?”
“Just peachy. I'll be back in a bit guys. I need some fresh air.” With that, I heard the door slam causing me to flinch.
“Shit, she's pissed.” Key said, to Jinki.
“Choi Minho, come here.” Jinki said. I let out a heavy sigh as I walked back out, shirtless and all.
“What the fuck was that all about? Why did Crystal leave crying?” Crying!? Fuck. I'm a dick.
“I think I fucked up. I led her on...”
“You led her on? You mean you two didn't fuck? With all the jealousy you threw at me when you know I don't swing that way, I thought you had taken her into the bedroom and fucked her brains out.”
“I've never...done it.”
“Well that makes two of us, but if you were so worried about us, we could've gone for a walk or something and let you two have alone time.” Jinki said taking a drink of his screwdriver and handing mine to me. I took a long drink of it, knowing I needed it.
“No, it's for the best...I don't want to fuck it up, seriously. I want the timing to be right and I want it to be good for both of us.”
“Fuck, you sound like you want to marry her.”
“Maybe I want to, what's it to you Kibum?”
“Okay, and when Shawols are leaving the fandom because of your stupid decision, we'll know who to kick out of SHINee because both you and I know that SM isn't going to fucking allow any of us to marry.” Key said, rolling his eyes, and finishing the rest of his screwdriver.
“Whatever, so much for being a stand up guy Kibum, two-faced motherfucker.” Key was about to have a bitch-fit when Jinki stopped him.
“Key, he has a point, you were just hugging on Crystal saying how much you liked her.” Jinki said, looking at Key.
“Well Minho's being a fucking cunt about this whole thing, he knows he's probably not going to be in a relationship with Crystal before we all head back to New York in April and if he does, it's going to end up in heartbreak. I'm trying to look out for both of them.”
“Me and Crystal's relationship is none of your business Kibum. Now shut the fuck up before I bring up Jonghyun.” I said glaring daggers at Key. Key pursed his lips, crossing his arms over his chest and sitting back into the couch.
“Minho I think you should apologize to Crystal when she gets back.” Jinki said, looking at me. I nodded.
“I will.” I said, as I glanced at the clock. It was ten after 1am. I took another drink of my screwdriver, hoping Crystal wouldn't be too long.
