I mentioned before that there's a recording studio on the premises. The women don’t use it to record anything most of the time. Instead, they tend to go in simply to play around on the instruments and maybe have a jam session. It’s a hangout spot, a space to unwind that just happens to have instruments for people to pick up and play. There are acoustic guitars, electric guitars, bass guitars, a piano, a synthesizer, a drum set, and a drum machine. There’s also an oboe and a tenor saxophone in case the one woman here who knows how to play both instruments feels like playing a sax solo or whatever. That woman is the very underrated singer Kacy Hill.
Kacy sings R&B with a minimalist electronic pop sound in the same vein as Royals. She’s talented, intelligent, and generally fun to have around. But perhaps the most interesting thing about her is how she got into music. She started out modeling for American Apparel. Around that time, Kanye West of all people was evidently in the market for American Apparel models to be the backup dancers on one of his tours, so Kacy became one of his backup dancers. It will forever remain a mystery as to exactly what Kacy in particular had that got the attention of someone as high profile as Kanye West. Just kidding, it was her phat ass.
Kacy then released Experience, which, while not being one of her best songs, is still pretty good. I recommend giving the song a listen if you have three-and-a-half minutes to kill. Kanye seemed to like the song too, so much so that he signed her to his label in 2014. And that, folks, is all of the attention I intend to ever give Kanye West. So let’s get back to Kacy.
Captain entered the studio one day to find Kacy at the piano with Emmy and Hayley Williams. If I have to explain why the Paramore frontwoman is in the resort, you must not have seen their live shows. Hayley was playing Passionfruit by Drake while Kacy and Emmy helped with the vocal harmonies.
Captain stepped over to the piano and semi-teasingly asked Kacy “Didn’t your label’s president have beef with this guy?”
Kacy smirked and rolled her eyes while swatting her hand at his general direction.
“You know I had as much to do with that as Hayley did with the guy from Airplanes being a flat Earther.”
“Hey, you don’t know that," Hayley chimed in. "Maybe B.o.B. thinks the Earth is flat just in comparison to my ass.”
They all had a good chuckle about that - it wouldn’t technically be wrong if that were the case.
Emmy then turned to face Captain and asked “Sorry, but are you stopping by or did you need one of us for something?”
“Actually, yes,” he replied. “I need Kacy to have her room ready for tonight.”
Emmy and Hayley made a knowing “ooh” noise at Kacy like the aliens from Toy Story.
“Do I need to do it now?” asked Kacy.
“No, but definitely some time this afternoon. I’ll leave the three of you to your music for now.”
He left them to their own devices and returned to the front desk.
