The following is a work of total fiction. I have never met Darren or Daniel and like everyone else apart from them and their partners I do not know their true sexual preferences. I do not mean any disrespect or harm to either of them.
The next day Angel left the bed-sit and went back to her parents' house, she figured she'd be better off there than in the bed-sit.
“Hi, can I stay here for a while?”
"Are you ok Angel?" asked her dad. "What happened? Did you and Darren have a fight?"
"I don't want to talk about it dad."
"Has he hit you?"

"No, Darren would never hit me! You should know that. I've left him."

"Well that's pretty obvious! I figured that much out myself when I saw the suitcases. have you left him? Did he cheat on you?"
Angel couldn't look at her dad.
"Angel, answer me. Did he cheat on you? Is that what this is all about?"
"Dad, please just drop it will you? Please? It's between me and Darren."
"I'm not just going to stand by and watch you hurting like this because of him. You come here with your belongings barely able to keep from crying and you expect me not to be worried. Tell me what it's about or I'll go and see Darren, ask him for an explanation."
"Dad, please just keep out of it. I don't want to talk about it!"
At that she ran upstairs, threw herself on her old bed and cried herself to sleep.
"I'm going to see him!" he said to Angel's mum who had just come into the room.
"Do you think you should?" Asked her mother. "They'll work it out, they love each other. Every couple has fights sometimes."
"They don't! He must have done something really bad for her to be this upset. I'm going to see him!"
"Well just talk to him, don't go using your fists! That won't solve anything."
"Don't worry; I'll just talk to him. I just want to know what's going on."
He left the house and drove over to Darren's house. Once there he knocked on the door and Darren came and opened the door.
"Ray! Hi, come in. Have you seen Angel?"
Ray went inside and Darren closed the door behind him.
"Hello, Darren. Yes I've seen Angel; she's at home. What's going on Darren? Why has she left you? Or did you throw her out?"
"No, I didn't throw her out, I wouldn't do that. This is her home as much as mine."
"So she left you? Why? What did you do? You must have done something, she’s really upset."
"She didn't tell you?"
"No, she didn't that's why I'm here asking you. Now are you going to tell me?"
"If Angel wanted you to know I'm sure she would have told you. I think you should wait till she's ready to tell you."
"Well I don't want to wait; I want to know now so you'd better start talking. Is it your fault? Answer me Darren, what did you do to my daughter?"
Suddenly Darren felt like he was 15 again, he was nervous. Ray was a lot bigger than him, stronger too. If he lost his temper he knew he wouldn't stand a chance. He just didn't know what to say. He certainly couldn't tell him the truth; he'd be dead for sure if he told him the truth!
"I-I never meant to hurt Angel, surely you know by now how much I love her? I wouldn’t deliberately hurt her for the world."
"It doesn't matter whether you meant to hurt her; the fact is you have hurt her. I've never seen her in such a state! Now what did you do? Have you been messing around behind her back?"
Darren looked at the floor. He couldn't look at Ray.
"Darren! Answer me, and I want the truth!"
"Yes”
“Yes what? You have cheated on her?”
“Angel caught me with someone else. I never meant..."
Ray didn’t need to hear any more he grabbed Darren, threw him against the wall and punched him in the ribs. He then drew his fist back and punched him in the face, cutting his lip in the process. Darren didn't even try to defend himself; he felt he deserved everything he was getting. Ray continued punching him until Darren fell to the floor.
"You bastard, how could you? After all Angel has done for you? How could you do this to her? You're supposed to be marrying her for Christ's sake! Was she worth it? Was she worth losing Angel for? I fucking hope she was because you have lost one hell of a girl! Don't you know how special Angel is?"
Darren was sat on the floor crying, partly because of the pain from his injuries and partly because of the shame he felt from having hurt Angel.
"Of course I know how special she is! I'm really sorry I never meant to hurt her. I know I have and I'm sorry. If I could I would do anything to change what happened, to take back the hurt that I've caused Angel. I know there is nothing I can do, I know I have lost her, but I will always love her."
"Why did you do it? How can you say you love her and then cheat on her? You and Angel seemed to be made for each other; even I accepted that, after all this time, then you turn out to be the only person to ever hurt her. Why?"
"I-I don't know. I can't help what happened, I can't explain it. Please just accept that I cheated on Angel, I hurt her and I've lost her. You really don't need to know anything more that that."
"If you love Angel as much as you claim then you're going to suffer enough so I will leave it at that, you only have yourself to blame. I hope you're not thinking of pressing charges against me for what I just did? I think you deserved it don't you?"
"Yeah I deserved every bit of it, don't worry I won't press charges. You were defending your daughter; I know how you feel I reckon I would be the same."
“It's a good thing Angel found out what you're really like before you got married, I’d say she’s had a lucky escape. It would have been even worse if this happened after you were married. Now I think you should just stay away from her from now on, don't you? I don't think she has any intention of forgiving you for this, so just stay away from her. I don't want to have to come after you again."
"I know she will never forgive me but surely you don't expect me to just turn my back on her? Not now. I fully intend to stand by her even if she doesn't want me, I won't walk out on my responsibilities. She needs me; I'll always be here for her and the baby."
"The what? Are you telling me you've got my daughter pregnant and then cheated on her? Jesus this gets worse, you're even more of a bastard than I thought you were!"
"She...didn't tell you? I'm sorry I thought she would have. I didn't know until yesterday, she came over to see me, to tell me about the baby."
"What do you mean she came over to see you? I thought this had just happened, she only came home today. When did she leave?"
"She left about a week ago. Did she not tell you?"
"No, she didn't. She just came in asked if she could stay and ran up to her room, crying! Where was she? Where did she stay after she left here? Please tell me she wasn't on the street."
"No, she said she needed to be by herself for a while so she rented a bed-sit in town. I didn't know where she was until she came over yesterday. I was going to call you and ask if she was there. I decided not to because I knew if she hadn't come to your house, you and her mother would have been worried too. I was worried enough without worrying you and her mother. Look I'm really sorry you had to find out like this but I promise I will not shirk my responsibilities towards Angel and the baby. Anything they need, I will make sure they get it."
"I can't believe what I'm hearing! I take it she's keeping it?"
"Of course she's keeping it! Can you imagine Angel killing her own baby?"
"I guess not. She'd barely hurt a fly. Jesus, Darren. What a fucking mess! I hope you're proud of yourself."
"Not particularly. I am proud that she's having my baby but I wish it were under better circumstances than this. If only we had've found out even just a few days sooner, it would've been so much different."
"How so?"
"I would've ended it...with the other...woman. Before Angel had to find out about it."
"So it wasn't even a one-off? How long were you cheating on her?"
"About six months. Please, Ray, I know you're angry and you have the right to be but please don't hit me again. I know what a shit I've been; I know what a wonderful girl I have lost. I really don't need you to remind me. If there's any way I can make it up to her and get her to forgive me, I will do whatever it takes to make it happen."
"Do you love her? The other woman I mean. Or was it just for sex?"
"It wasn't just about sex; I really cared about the other person. Yes I do love...her. That doesn't mean I love Angel any less. She will always be very special to me. I'm just confused, I love two people very much and I never intended to hurt either of them."
"You're not very good at keeping to your intentions are you? You've broken Angel's heart. When I came out she was in her room sobbing her heart out! It's going to take a long time for her to get over this. I know she's having your baby but I really think you should keep away from her. At least for now. Her mother and I will take care of her; she'll be fine. I'm sure she will contact you when she's ready."
"Ok, I'll stay away fow bow but please tell her I’m sorry and I still love her. And please make sure she knows I'm here for her, always."
"Yeah, I'll tell her. You just stay away from her. I'll see myself out. Bye Darren."
"Bye Ray."
