Orlando looked at them, raising an eyebrow as if asking if they were actually serious. When all he got was a nod in return he decided to just go for it.
He took his place in the middle of the room, asked Elijah to just turn of the music, as he didn’t want to have to compete with the stereo, to the amusement of the girls. Then he cleared his throat, looking for all the world like he was Pavarotti getting ready to sing O Solo Mio or something like that.
He took a deep breath and started,
“Don't be fooled by the rocks that I got” He started rocking to some internal beat, “I'm still, I'm still Jenny from the block. Used to have a little, now I have a lot.”
He did a turn worthy of a ballerina,
“No matter where I go, I know where I came from
Don't be fooled by the rocks that I got
I'm still, I'm still Jenny from the block
Used to have a little, now I have a lot
No matter where I go, I know where I came from.” He continued dancing around the living room, until he finished the song.
When he looked at Liz she had tears streaming down her face from laughing, and Elijah and Brie weren’t much better off.
“Oh my God!” Liz said guffawing, “That was absolutely horrible!” She dissolved into helpless giggles again, and Orlando couldn’t keep a straight face any longer. He started laughing quietly but soon he was sitting on the floor trying to catch his breath along with the rest of the people present.
When they finally calmed down, Brie stood up and looked at Elijah,
“’Lij, we should probably get going.”
Elijah rolled his eyes,
“But why?” He whined, “We’re just starting to have fun!”
Brie smacked him upside the head,
“I know doofus, but someone has a pretty important meeting tomorrow, with a pretty important director, and said someone wouldn’t want to be late, thereby missing his chance at a brilliant role.” She took a deep breath after finishing that sentence and then turned to Liz, “So, I guess I won’t get to see you again before we leave.”
“You won’t?” Liz asked surprised.
“No, we’re leaving the day after tomorrow, and tomorrow will be pretty busy.” Brie explained.
“That sucks!” Liz said, “Well, we should definitely keep in touch.”
“Definitely! Here’s my e-mail, home phone number and cellphone number.” Brie said handing Liz a card. Liz returned the favour, giving Brie a cad with her email and numbers and then they hugged.
“It was great meeting you!” Liz said, “I’ve had more fun these last couple of days than I’ve had since I moved to London!”
“Yeah it’s been a blast!” Brie said, “Promise me you’ll come visit us in L.A.!”
“I’ll do what I can!” Liz said, “But only if you promise to come back to London again.”
Brie laughed,
“Count on it!”
They hugged again, but were pulled apart by Elijah who wrapped his arms around Liz hugging her,
“Bye girly-girl! It was fun! Must do again!”
Liz laughed hugging Elijah back and just before they pulled apart Elijah turned to give her a kiss on the cheek, whispering in her ear,
“Give him a chance.”
Liz was kind of surprised by Elijah’s boldness, but she gave him an almost imperceptible nod. She would give Orlando a chance. He had proven to her that he wasn’t as egotistical as she had first assumed.
Elijah and Brie both gave Orlando a hug goodbye with promises of calling soon and then almost in an instant, or so Liz felt, they had left. She was alone with Orlando. She felt her heart begin to beat faster, at a loss for what to say. Maybe she should just leave too? It was rather late after all.
“Orlando?” She said when she finally found her voice, “Maybe I should get going as well…”
Orlando interrupted her,
“Do you have to go?”
Did she? No. But was she ready to stay here alone with Orlando? The answer was clear. Despite her nervousness she enjoyed his company. She would stay if he wanted her to.
“No, I don’t, but I thought maybe you wanted to get some sleep. It’s 3 in the morning.”
“So? I don’t have anything planned for tomorrow. I’d like it if you stayed.” He told her.
Liz smiled shyly and nodded. Orlando held out his hand for her and when she took it, he lead her over to the couch where he pulled her down next to him.
“So did you have fun tonight?” Orlando asked, still holding Liz’ hand. His was thumb rubbing slowly up and down her palm, and Liz found it hard to concentrate on his question.
“Ye…yes, it was great!” Liz smiled at him, and when their eyes met she felt as if she couldn’t breathe. What was is about this man that made her act so unlike her usual self. Usually she would have no problem at all firing of some cheeky remark, but with Orlando it was as if he touched something deep inside of her. Something that nobody else had ever been able to see, let alone touch.
Orlando looked into her eyes, before letting his gaze flicker down to her lips. All he had been able to think about all night was how much he wanted to kiss her again. Licking his lips he slowly leaned in toward her. Trying to see how she would react, and when all she did was let out was the tiniest of breathless sighs he took it as the go ahead.
Closing the distance between them his lips touched hers softly at first, the barest hint of a touch, before pressing them closer together unable to hold back anymore.
Teeth clashing, tongues tasting, his hands hold her lips to him as if he was afraid that if he let go she would disappear. Liz held on to him. First grabbing his biceps, then slowly, her hands began to wander up to his shoulders, over and then settling at the nape of his neck, her fingers playing with the hair there as she gave as good as she got.
Now that they were kissing, she could admit to herself that she really had wanted this to happen all along.
TBC? Tell me what you think and maybe I'll continue this! *grin*
