Chapter Eight
“Ok, 100% tonight lads!” Shane shouted out as he looked to each of his bandmates. “Let’s kick some ass!”
Mark looked over at Nicky and started laughing. “Aye Aye Captain!” He gave Shane a mock salute as Nicky burst into his own laughing fit.
Shane glared at them as he looked over at Kian. “How ya feelin’ tonight, Kino?”
Adjusting his stage costume, Kian looked up. “I’m doin’ ok.”
“Are ya sure? You didn’t get much sleep last night.” Bryan nudged him.
“I’m fine.” Kian’s mouth was drawn in a tight line.
“Havin’ woman problems are ya?” Nicky snickered. “Must be nice to have too many women throwin’ themselves at ya.”
“Come on boys let’s get focused.” Jake Duncan, Westlife’s tour manager, called out as he walked up to them. “We’re on in five minutes. Get focused.” He gave them a stern look as he walked over to talk to one of the musicians.
“Yea, Kino get focused.” Bryan nudged him.
“Maybe I can help.” A light voice spoke out.
All five boys turned to see Jodi walking towards them. Kian’s eyes widened as a slow smile started to crawl across his lips. It took a few seconds for it to register that she was actually here. As soon as she was close enough, he grabbed her and pulled her to him. Burying his face in her soft fragrant hair, he squeezed her tight. “I’m so glad you’re here baby.”
“I told you I would come.” Jodi hugged him back as she smirked. “I’m sorry we fought Kian. I missed you.” She could see his American didn’t have what it took to make him feel better. He needed her, and she would prove that to him.
Shane looked over at Mark and frowned. Mark had a dark look on his face as he stared at the couple. None of the boys actually had anything against Jodi. But she just didn’t fit in with them or their wives or girlfriends. She almost seemed to look down on them as if she were just a bit better.
“I missed ya too.” Kian pulled back and kissed her softly.
“Come on boys, we gotta go.” Jake yelled out.
“Go and have a great show. I’ll be here afterwards.” Jodi kissed Kian as she nibbled on his lip. She watched as the trademark Kian grin spread across his face as he joined his bandmates. Folding her arms over her chest, she smirked. He would be her’s and only her’s. No American would get in the way of her happiness.

Holding Jodi’s hand, intertwining their fingers, Kian smiled down at her. It had been a good show and now the boys just returned to their hotel rooms. A week into the tour and it seemed that Westlife fans couldn’t get enough of them. A part of him couldn’t believe that Jodi was actually here. She never went on tour with them before. He was secretly glad that he listened to Emmy. As he thought of his best friend, a sad sort of ache filled his heart. He missed her too.
Pulling Jodi closer, Kian cupped her face as he began to kiss her slow and languorously. He felt her hands run up his chest as her nails trailed over his shoulders. It had been so long since he and Jodi were alone like this. As his hand slid over her shoulder, he pulled down her shirt and bra strap. His mouth quickly replaced his hand as he kissed her skin. Moaning, Jodi closed her eyes as she ran her fingers through his hair.
Just then the door to the hotel room opened up and Shane walked in. Since Kian and Shane were sharing a room, Shane didn’t bother to knock. Kian’s head snapped up and he glared at his friend. “Get the fuck out.” His voice came out low and deadly.
Shane frowned as he looked over to Jodi and then back to Kian. “Kian, I think this is a bit important.”
“What the hell is it, Shay?” Kian asked angrily. “I thought I told ya to share a room with Mark tonight?”
“Have you seen the Globe yet?” Shane asked cautiously. The Globe was one of the trash tabloids but it had enough grains of truth in its stories to make it popular.
“No, why in the fuck would I wanna read that?” Kian was now getting seriously pissed off. He wanted some time with Jodi alone and his friend just wouldn’t take the hint.
Without preamble Shane walked over to the couch where Kian and Jodi were sitting down. He dropped a worn copy of the Globe on the coffee table and sighed. Kian glared up at Shane and then he glanced at the paper. He suddenly felt the air fly out of his lungs as he paled. On the cover was a picture of him and he had his arms around Emmy. It was right after he kissed her. Somehow someone had the nerve to spy on them and snap this picture. But it was the headline that was the true grabber.
Westlife’s Kian Egan has Secret Lover!
“Where did you get this?” Kian finally managed to speak. He was torn between feeling anger and feeling guilt. Instantly he wondered if Emmy had seen this yet. What would it be like back home for her? Then, a thought crossed his mind. “Do they know who she is, Shay?”
Shane shook his head. “No, I don’t think they do. But they know it’s not her.” He motioned with his head to Jodi.
Jodi quickly looked down at the paper and then turned to glare at Kian. “You liar! Just friends? I was so stupid to believe that!” She went to go get up.”
“Jodi wait!” Kian pleaded. Then he looked at Shane, and Shane nodded in understanding. He walked over to the door and made his exit. When Shane was gone, Kian then looked over at Jodi with sadness in his eyes. “It’s not what ya think, baby.”
“Not what I think? Then tell me Kian, just what is it?” Jodi snapped. “Just how close are you and your little American?”
“Jodi you don’t understand.” Kian pulled her down to sit by him. “It’s not like that with Emmy and me.” He swallowed hard as he tried to reach out to Jodi. He didn’t want it to be like this. He couldn’t have Jodi thinking he cheated on her, when in truth he really hadn’t.
“Oh really? Come on Kian, I’m not blind!” Jodi’s eyes were lit with the fires of rage. “I can see perfectly that you have your arms around her.”
“It was just a hug. It was just-“ Kian stopped in mid-sentence as the kiss he shared with Emmy came flooding back. Closing his eyes, he tried to focus on what he was saying to Jodi. But the way Emmy melted into his arms and the softness of her lips had him thinking of only her.
“Kian!” Jodi pushed at his chest.
His eyes snapped open as he looked at Jodi. “Please baby ya gotta believe me. Hell Emmy was the one who told me that I needed ya. She said I shouldn’t have let ya go so easily.”
Hearing that Jodi was taken aback. Just what was that American up to? Seeing the hopeless look on Kian’s face, Jodi softened. She stroked his cheek as she gave him a sad sort of smile. What was she thinking? Kian was what she wanted and she almost let him go. “Let’s just forget about this. After all I’m here for you.” She leaned forward and brushed her lips against his.
Seeing that Jodi was giving in, Kian didn’t waste the opportunity. Gathering her up in his arms, his head swept down and he took her lips in a crushing kiss. He heard her moan and he began to deepen the kiss. Jodi’s hand came up to run through the back of his hair as she pulled his head down.
Kian opened his mouth as his tongue parted her lips. As he felt her tongue reach out for his, he moaned low and deep. Closing his eyes, he was instantly transported back to another kiss. Jodi’s face seemed to fade as Emmy’s suddenly replaced it. He began to deepen the kiss as his lips began to take control. All his mind could see was Emmy’s face. All his body could remember was the feel of Emmy’s lips on his. “Oh god baby…yes Emmy…oh Emmy.”
Hearing another woman’s name come from Kian’s lips, Jodi immediately broke the kiss. As hard as she could she pushed against his chest, sending him flying back against the couch. There was hatred in Jodi’s eyes as she glared at Kian. “You asshole!” She swore as she moved as far away from him as she could.
Kian was momentarily stunned. He looked at Jodi in confusion, the severity of his act not quite sinking in yet. “What’s wrong baby?”
“How dare you!” Jodi stood up. “Don’t ‘what’s wrong baby’ with me!” She thundered. “You kiss me and then you have the nerve to moan out another woman’s name? Her name?” She seethed.
It hit Kian then. He had been thinking of Emmy during the kiss with Jodi. He had moaned out Emmy’s name. Guilt flooded him as he hung his head. But what he couldn’t understand was why he was feeling guilty. Was it because he called out Emmy’s name or was it because he wanted to kiss Emmy instead of Jodi? “Jodi, please-“
“NO!” She screamed. “I can’t take this anymore Kian. This is the end of it.” She grabbed her purse.
“Jodi where are ya goin’? Come on, we can work this out.” Kian stood up as he held out a hand.
“Goodbye Kian.” There was coldness in her voice and her eyes. Jodi knew that it was Emmy that Kian was thinking of, that he had been thinking of since she came back. She knew she lost him the day his eyes lit up looking at Emmy. The anger she felt when she thought of that nearly had her strangling him. After all the time and effort she put into him, and to have some American steal him away was more that she could handle right now.
Kian’s eyes turned from sorrow to anger as he stared at her. “So it’s goodbye then, for good?” His voice became hard as his eyes glittered like blue ice.
“Yea it is. Go back to Miss America!” Jodi threw out as she started for the door.
“If ya walk this time Jodi, ya won’t be comin’ back!” Kian yelled as he stormed after her.
“As if I wanted to! I should have known better!” She threw back as she opened the door.
“Go then!” Kian motioned angrily with his hand. “If ya wanna leave me, then just fuckin’ do it!”
Jodi gave him one last glare as she stormed out. Kian was so angry that he grabbed the hotel room door and slammed it shut with as much force as he could. The door and the wall shook, as the door slammed shut.
He began pacing back and forth with his fists clenched at his side. What right did she have to judge him? It was one simple mistake. With his mouth drawn tight, Kian clenched his fists. He desperately wanted to punch something. Then he began to think about what just happened. As he stopped pacing, he sighed. He was a fool to think he could get Emmy’s kiss out of his mind. When her face filled his mind, he let out a tortured sigh. It seemed his heart was thinking for him. It was telling him which woman he really wanted, and it wasn’t Jodi.

“Has he come out of the room at all?” Jake looked over at Mark and Shane. “What happened?” He sighed. Some days he wondered why he took this job at all. Kian’s temper tantrums were becoming things of legend. But it seemed this one really took the cake.
“No, not since Jodi left two days ago.” Mark frowned. “We’ve a show tomorrow. We gotta start rehearsin’ for it.”
“I take it that Jodi and Kian had an argument?” Jake looked over at the both of them. “If it’s just a lover’s spat, then why is he punishin’ himself? Ya know I’m gettin' really tired of his love life interferin’ with business.”
“I think it’s more than that.” Shane folded his arms over his chest. “I think it’s serious. Kian hasn’t eaten for two days. He just sits in that room and watches TV. He won’t even let any of us go in.” He shook his head. “ No this is different. Jodi is done. I think this goes much farther than Kian and Jodi.”
“What do ya mean?” Mark turned to look at Shane.
“I think I know of a way to get Kian to come out.” Shane had a deep thoughtful look on his face.
“Anythin’ you can do to get that lad to come out…” Jake shook his head.
Shane looked over at his tour manager and nodded. “Just leave it to me.”
