Fools Rush In

At seven thirty the next morning, Nikki groaned, as she started to wake. She went to turn over, but was instantly met with a soft, warm and firm surface.

Nikki froze, as she realised she was not alone. And she wasn’t in her own hotel room. She began to panic, wondering where she was. Her head was pounding and she felt a dull throbbing between her legs.

Nikki slowly sat up and looked to the side of her. She gasped and placed a hand over her mouth, when she saw exactly who was laid beside her.

It wasn’t until she shivered, that she realised she wasn’t wearing anything. She let out a squeak of alarm before quickly tugging the blanket up to her naked chest.

She was startled and her eyes went wide in horror, as she heard someone knocking on the door to the bedroom. She quickly turned to see if the noise from the door had woken Zac. It had.

“Zac, you need to get up. Is Nikki in there with you? She and Stace should have been back in their hotel room’s hours ago. What if someone checks on them?” Corbin called out in worry.

Nikki cringed. She and Stacy were supposed to be back at their hotel rooms at three. Her Aunt Gail was going to kill her. She could just hear the lecture she was sure to receive. The very thought of that up and coming conversation made her groan.

Nikki went rigid when she heard Zac’s groggy reply “Yeah, she is in here. Give us a second Corbin. We’ll be out in the lounge.” Corbin called back “Ok.”

Zac slowly turned over to face Nikki. He squinted at her, as he slowly stated to become more awake. He noticed she flushed brightly under his gaze as she brought the covers up closer to her chin.

Nikki shifted uncomfortably. Zac cleared his throat and sat up straight. Nikki flushed when the blanket fell to his waist, completely leaving his chest and waist bare.

Zac chuckled weakly and commented “Well, this sure is awkward, isn’t it?” Nikki snorted and nodded. She replied shyly, still not being able to meet his gaze. “I’m going to end up catching hell from my Aunt, as soon as I get back. I just know it.”

Zac cringed and nodded. “Yeah, I suspect you will. Sorry about that, I really, really don’t envy you.” Nikki snorted, as she looked down. Zac decided, that if they were going to get somewhere, he wanted her to least look him in the eye.

He lifted his left hand and reached out to her. He used a finger to gently lift her chin, to make her face him head on. Nikki tried to turn her head away, but he tightened his grip on her chin, preventing her from looking away from him. He shook his head and told her. “Don’t look away from me. There is no reason for this to be awkward.”

He added “I don’t usually do this. I don’t usually sleep with someone I’ve known for less then twenty four hours. And the fact I’ve only just broken up with my ex girl friend, not even a week ago, should have been another reason for me not to do what I have.”

He went on “But you know something, I honestly can’t bring myself to regret what we did last night. And I promise you, that you weren’t a rebound skank. I found myself enjoying your company within the very short time I’ve known you.”

He concluded “And if you agree, I would like to see you again. This wasn’t a one night stand. I don’t work that way, it isn’t in my nature. It isn’t worth it as far as I’m concerned. It is entirely up to you, whether you actually want to see me again. I won’t force you.”

Nikki sighed and replied “As what, friends, or as more?” Zac replied after a brief pause. “Both, I guess. If that is what you want. But you should know that whatever relationship we have or do not have, it can’t become public, at least not until after the promotional touring of HSM.”

Nikki nodded and replied “Yeah, I suspected that would be the case. You’ve broken up with the other half of Zanessa less then a week ago. And then there is the fact that HSM is due to hit theatres at the beginning of next month. Yeah I totally understand it would look bad. Seeing as this is after all your first feature role as the leading character.”

She added “You’re required to make a certain impression on the public, your fans in particular. It is the fans who will determine if HSM is successful enough for HSM2 to be made.”

Zac nodded. He said “I’m glad you understand. Understand that it isn’t a slight or anything personal against you. Disney would have my balls in a sling, making it difficult for me to get any roles after this. I can’t afford to screw this up.”

Nikki reached out and gently combed her fingers of her right hand through his hair soothingly. Zac leaned into her touch, close to purring in delight at the sensation her fingers created.

Nikki couldn’t help but smirk, as she watched him eye her from narrowed eyes. He looked like a lazy tom cat, as he nuzzled the side of her wrist. She was expecting him to start purring.

She commented jokingly “Would you like me to scratch behind your ears. I heard cats like that?” Zac’s bright blue eyes snapped open fully. Nikki let out a shriek of laughter, as he suddenly pounced on her. Nikki giggled hysterically and squirmed, as she tried to escape his tickling digits.

Meanwhile out in the lounge, Lucas and Katie had joined Corbin and Stacy. Lucas and Corbin smirked knowingly, while Katie and Stacy stifled giggles behind the palm of their hands.
