“Romeo and Juliet?” Bam sputtered. “Are you kidding me?”
“Not at all.” DeWitt was bewildered. “Why should I be?”
“Isn’t there an awful lot of… kissing that goes on in that play?” the owner of the deep voice asked uncertainly. Who was it? Where were they? Bam looked around frantically.
“Yes,”
“Well, we’re all boys here. I’m sure we’d be very uncomfortable having to kiss one another in such a fashion.” Bam was sure he was sitting in the front. Probably one of those boys on the floor.
“That’s the beauty of this. We’re acting. If you look around you know, the people you see are not the people that are going to be on stage. Not by a long shot.” Almost automatically, everyone began to look around, eyeing everyone.
The one thing everyone was thinking was quite clear.
Oh God! Am I going to have to kiss him?
**
Ville had heard Bam, had seen him. When he saw the boy walk in, his heart caught in his throat. He knew that curly hair, knew that bored expression on his face. And most of all, he knew those blue eyes.
As quietly as he was able, he slipped down onto the floor, hoping that Bam wouldn’t see him, wouldn’t notice him. He felt safe in speaking because he hadn’t spoken at the club.
Besides, who would believe such a voice would come from a woman? When the meeting was dismissed, he decided to hurry and take his things and slip out the of the other exit.
He didn’t want to be followed.
Ville quickly gathered his books and hurried towards the exit on the far side of the auditorium. It was close enough to his dorm room that it made sense anyway. He just hoped, prayed that Bam wouldn’t follow him.
Bam didn’t want to have to talk to, or be seen, with most of the kids in the drama club. He had something of a reputation to maintain. He sighed and picked up his backpack. He was going to use the far door.
It was closer to the parking lot anyway. Maybe he could still meet up with the guys and get some skating in before it was dinner time. That would be the only good part about this day, he decided.
Neither one was paying much attention as they made their way through the darkened room towards the door. Ville leaned against the bar to open it. He frowned as it moved a few inches and then jammed.
He leaned on it harder. Nope, still stuck, frowning. He stepped back.
This was the darkest corner of the room. Bam was reaching into his backpack for something. He was incredibly confused when he collided with something that was too soft and loud to be a wall.
The door finally gave under their combined weight, and the boys spilled out onto the well lit hallway.
Bam looked down. He was pressed against the back of someone who had the loveliest dark brown hair he had ever seen.
Except of course, for that girl at the club. The person behind him groaned and managed to roll over.
Bam found himself staring down into the set
of eyes that had been haunting his dreams. He found himself staring down at the lips that he had been aching for.
This wasn’t possible.
