--------------------
As 'Anata no Tame' finished, Uruha's guitar was still echoing out the last chord. The fans all had their arms stretched up into the air while they clapped, cheered and whistled. It was one of their old songs from their real grungy phase of music but it was still a good hyped-up song. The girls wished they had known about the Gazette earlier than they did, because then they would have been able to see 'Anata no Tame' at it's début performance on Heisei Banka Final. As they watched the stage they could see each of the guys bending over slightly - Kai was hunched over his drums, Reita was in his playing stance and holding his bass at the ready but with his head down. Aoi and Uruha were the same as Reita - in playing stance, guitars at the ready and heads down. Ruki was leaning down over his platform, one hand placed on it and hanging his head.
The fans were wondering what was going on. The guys weren't moving - just standing in their hunched over positions with their personal fans causing their hair to flutter about. There was hardly any sound coming from the stage except a very faint screaming sound coming from Aoi and Uruha's guitars. Now some of the fans were beginning to chatter among themselves - some were beginning to clap and chant 'Gazetto, Gazetto' in hopes that they would respond. Finally Ruki slowly lifted the mic to his mouth and paused for a second, not once standing up from his position. The fans stopped chanting and clapping to listen for him.
"Oh yeah, Yoshitasu~!" he shouted into his mic as the fans screamed again and Ruki continued, "We're almost spent ... it's been a long hard busy last few weeks for us ... lets take this concert out with a bang".
Ruki suddenly stood up straight, threw back his head and yelled at the top of his lungs without the mic to his mouth. The long mass of dreadlocks slapped his back at the same time, which he made a slightly pained face. Kai clashed his symbols a couple of times and then Aoi, Reita and Uruha jumped in with the beginning of 'Discharge'. Ruki kept up with his head banging as the fans followed him. Even the girls joined in, though they sometimes thought 'Discharge' would be a bit too heavy for them. Especially when there was a lot of head banging involved. Then just as the first round stopped and there was a little break where it was just the music, Ruki stood up tall on his platform. He raised one arm over his head and screamed into the mic this time. Those who were sensitive to high-pitched sound would have felt weak at the knees right about then.
And with that Ruki led the band and the fans into another round of head-bangs - this time the circular motions. The girls had to make sure they were all going the same way because where they were, there wasn't a lot of space and the railing was restricting them a bit from leaning forward. After the second round was over, Ruki began shouting random specks of gibberish into his mic. There were of course no set lyrics for 'Discharge' so he could pretty much rattle-off whatever he felt like saying. Of course, as he mentioned, the last few weeks had been hectic so the fans could hear the word 'fuck' said in random places through his 'singing'. Even the other guys pitched in during the 'chorus' - if it can be called that - with them shouting 'Follow this shit'. Each time it was said, the fans jumped and punched their fists into the air.
'Discharge' continued on - just so the band could make a whole lot of noise. As the song was coming to an end and the music seemed to be fading out, Ruki raised his arm again and shouted 'Last one~!' before they jumped right into the last round of head-bangs. The fans knew by now that after the concert, they would be very sore in the morning - a good thing it was a Friday night. Finally the song was coming to it's real ending - Reita plucked one more string on his bass before roughly pulling the strap over his head and hanging it on it's cradle. Aoi and Uruha also scrapped their picks over the strings on their guitars, before also pulling the straps over their heads. They fumbled to hang their guitars on their mic-stands before lazily stumbling off the stage. Ruki jammed the mic into his stand before striding off stage, holding in up-side-down middle-finger to the audience. Kai bashed his drums once more before dropped them to the ground and standing up. He walked around his drum-kit and walked off the stage the others had left - not once looking at the audience.
The girls noticed how exhausted the guys were - they wouldn't blame them, the concert had been going off since the start. The songs were get everyone hyped up, then they'd play a softer song and just when you think it couldn't get anymore relaxed, they'd pump out another rough song. Okay, the band had just played 'Discharge' and then left ... they knew it wasn't over yet. Even Ruki wouldn't just walk out without saying a word. There was going to be an encore; that was certain because the stage was still fully lit-up. The guys had only been off the stage for maybe ten seconds and the fans were now beginning to chant 'Encore, Encore'. Megumi and Mika were the first to join in, and then Ai, Kira and Kikyo followed. It wouldn't be long before the Gazette came back out - refreshed and ready to finish the show.
* * *
A couple of minutes had already passed since the band had walked off stage. It was still lit up, instruments hadn't been moved so there was sure to be an encore. But just to make sure there would be, the fans kept chanting 'Encore, Encore'. The clapping and chanted never once got quieter or slowed down - they were determined to see more. Megumi had turned around in her place so she could look out over the audience - there was definitely a full house in the hall. It reminded her of Budoukan but without the balconies - oh yeah, and they were almost at the back. Ai was leaning out over the railing as she looked both left and right - even though the stage was only a few feet away there still seemed to be plenty of room for the camera-guys - videos cameras and photographers by the looks for it. Mika was again talking to the Lolita-girl, who she found out was named 'Mariko'. Kira took this free time between the main concert and encore to whip out her digi-cam to take a few quick photos of the stage. She also turned to take some of the fans - a few girls even smiled and made peace signs or rock-on signals. Kikyo was talking to the cosplay-girl as well whom she also found out was named 'Yuki'.
"Wow so you've got every single Gazette CD and DVD so far? That's amazing, I can't find their 'Cockayne Soup' CD anywhere now", Mika said, looking a little depressed as she stamped one foot and sighed, "The only things I'm missing is that CD and their 'NIL' band score book ... which I probably don't even need but it's still nice to collect things of a favourite band".
"Yeah I know what you mean. I spent a long time finding their 'Verwelktes Gedicht' photo book because it's now out of print. Lucky for me I found it on an auction website", Mariko said tangling her fingers together and now looking a bit sheepish, "It was never expensive in the first place, but because I was desperate ... I ended up paying double. About 7500yen ..."
"Oh my god, are you serious~?! Wow your brave to part with that much money. But I guess if you can't buy it anymore that you'd be willing to pay anything", Kira choked out seeing she over heard the conversation and she was now fed-up with taking photos, "I was like that with an Alice Nine CD. It was an out of print edition but I also paid almost double for it. Gee the things we do as fans~!"
Yuki and Kikyo were now finished talking and decided to join in the conversation. Even Ai was bored with watching the cameramen - they can only keep you entertained for so long. Megumi was also finished checking out the crowd.
"Hey do you guys know anything about their 'Decomposition Beauty' tour? All we've heard about so far is that it starts at the end of this month and goes on threw past the release of their 'Hyena' single", Kikyo said thoughtfully as she looked from Mariko to Yuki, "Do you know what places they will be playing at and how long the tour goes for? I know the last stop is Yokohama Arena which hopefully my friends and I can go too".
"Umm ... yeah Yokohama is the final stop and that's scheduled for the Eleventh of March next year. So it's gonna go for roughly three and a bit months", Yuki said, counting her fingers as she spoke, "Oh they are going all over Japan. I myself don't really know the places they're going too, but keep checking back on their official website for updates. That's what I've been doing anyway".
"Well I hope they put up some information soon, we're already a week into November and there's still only specks of detail. I could have sworn there was some info on their website just last month but it was taken off again", Megumi said looking a little worried as she played with a strand of hair, "I'm hoping they only have to update the information for very good reason. I want to at least know where they'd be playing, even if I can't follow them all over the country-side".
"I highly doubt you'd do that even if you were allowed too, Meg. That's over three months you'd be following them AND you wouldn't be able to afford it", Ai said as she slapped Megumi's arm softly and causing Megumi to stick her tongue out, "I say be happy that we can even get to see them in concert at all. Being part of the fan-club means we can pretty much watch them whenever we like. Speaking of which, I think it's just about time for the encore - look ..."
Ai now pointed up at the stage and the others followed where she was pointing - where the other backdrop used to be - of the women with hands on her back - was now another equally large banner with the Gazette's name logo printed across it. The stage suddenly flared up in a flash of bright light and the fans could barely see it before the stage blackout. The audience stopped chanting and clapping, which was quickly replaced by screaming. Finally their hard work had paid off - they couldn't wait to hear what the last few songs were. Megumi, Ai, Mika, Kira and Kikyo all jumped excitedly and linked arms.

After 'Discharge' the guys all gathered on the side-stage where they had stood before the concert. They then head back to the dressing rooms together while being lead by a staff member again. Even though they were a little below ground level and in the dressing rooms, loud chanting of 'Encore, Encore' could be heard. Ruki proceeded to quickly change out of his black jacket; the white shirt followed after it. Aoi of course was only in his tight black singlet seeing he'd removed his silver jacket, which was now sitting on the back of his chair. Kai un-buttoned his sleeveless white shirt, threw it over his chair and reached for their 'One Night Stand' gig t-shirt. Reita wriggled out of his white vest and then pulled the patchy grey sleeveless shirt over his head. Uruha however was standing in a daze behind his chair, his white vest in both hands and looking up the ceiling - he was listening to the chanting.
"Well ... at least we know they want an encore. It'd be cruel not too now, especially seeing we didn't address the fans before we went off", Uruha said as he stopped listening and dropped the vest onto his chair as he grabbed his own gig t-shirt, "You put together a good set-list too Kai. It left the fans not knowing what was going to happen next. Just when they settle down after a soft song, they get hyped up again on the next".
"Hmm, now you know why I was switching songs around all the time while organising it. I spent quite a number of hours listening to combinations of songs", Kai explained as he yanked the t-shirt over his head and pushed his arms through, "In the end I just chose a few songs from each of our CD's to date and mixed them around to get the right flow. It's worked perfectly so far".
During Uruha and Kai's little conversation, Ruki had remained relatively quiet. He just went about changing into his gig t-shirt with a fairly light black jacket over it. While he was now fixing his fringe in the mirror, Reita suddenly piped up and gave Ruki's shoulder a shove. Kai, Uruha and Aoi looked up when Ruki barked an annoyed 'Hey~!' at Reita. The guys had never seen Ruki so 'mood-swingy' before - on stage just before he was normal, but in the dressing room he was a little jumpy and seemed distracted. Something was definitely different about him.
"That reminds me, what is with you tonight? You give your jacket flower to a random girl outside when we arrive, who now seems to be with her friends in the very front row so you decide to keep singing to her", Reita said, roughly pulling his t-shirt on and fumbling to push his arms through, "The speeches about dreamy-love, you suddenly forgetting how to talk before Kai saves your butt ... you even got the girl to approach you while your singing and take her hand~! What's going on here?"
"Yeah, I noticed all that too. I even recognise three of the girls with her. They were working at the store I went into this afternoon to ask for directions", Aoi added as he adjusted his t-shirt and fixed his 'skirt' that was a little twisted around his legs, "When all this was happening I almost lost concentration, I thought you were gonna loss it. What brought all this on, are you sick?"
"Guys enough~! I'm not sick, you know me better than that. How can you explain things that people do, seriously? I don't understand any of this myself", Ruki said, flinging his hands up over his head in frustration before turning his chair around and slumping into it, "I thought that the girl I gave my flower too, I'd never see again ... fair enough. But when I saw her in the front row ... I don't know, something just ..."
Ruki shrugged and waved it off with his left hand before placing that hand over his forehead. He rested that elbow on the arm of his chair and closed his eyes. Reita, Aoi, Uruha and Kai all looked around at each other - this whole thing was about a single fan in the crowd, who seems to have caught their singer's attention. It suddenly dawned on them - 'BathRoom'! They then realised what he had meant before, when talking to the audience - that girl was Ruki's 'dream love'. Before any of the guys could say anything, a staff member came in to inform them they were ready for the 'Encore'. All that was missing were the guys. Ruki quickly stood up without another word and walked out first, followed by Uruha, Kai, Reita and Aoi. Nothing more was said between the guys, as they were again led up to the side-stage. Just as they stood ready to the side, they noticed the stage flared up brightly before falling into darkness again. The screams from the fans actually made all of them laugh, which even got Ruki out of his rut. He didn't mean to be so snappy to the others so he made a mental note to make it up to them later.

The girls waited patiently for the band to come back. The stage remained dark but in the meantime the faint sound of 'The End' was playing on loop in the background. Even though the audience had already done their chanting and clapping at the start of the concert, they just went ahead and did it again but quieter like the music. Megumi, Ai, Mika, Kira and Kikyo did too. They then noticed a bright spotlight flash over the side-stage where the guys were waiting. With the stage blacked-out and then the spotlight shone over their hiding place, the guys realised it was their cue to get back on stage. They decided on going out one at a time; no particular reason just for a change. Kai was the first to go out.
He walked into the spotlight and had to shield his eyes for a second to adjust to the flare. The audience, especially Kai-fans and Megumi, pipped up and cheered for him. He smiled brightly and waved to them as he walked past the spotlight and further onto the stage. At this time the stage lit-up again but the spotlight stayed on to show each of the guys. As Kai climbed back up to his drum-kit, Reita then came striding onto the stage with one hand to his forehead in a salute. As Kira and other Reita-fans screamed for him, he raised both fists into the air and growled, though it couldn't be heard because of the audience. Reita went back to his bass as Aoi and Uruha came on - Aoi's right arm was around Uruha's shoulders while Uruha had his left arm around Aoi's waist. Ai and Kikyo smiled brightly and clapped. Okay they hadn't gone back on separately but Aoi and Uruha-fans were certainly not complaining. Those two were like partners-in-crime and also the subject of a lot of fan-service and Yaoi story talks. While Aoi and Uruha jumped back over to their guitars, Ruki was last as he came striding out from the side, holding a rock-n signal up to the audience. Mika and other Ruki-fans jumped up and down excitedly and screamed louder. Ruki grabbed the mic from its stand that hadn't moved from its spot, and placed one foot up on his platform.
"Oh yeah~! Yeah, Yoshiatsu~! You wanted us back and you got us~!" Ruki shouted into the mic before the audience cheered, quickly quieting down when he put the mic back to his mouth, "Ah ... it's been great performing here tonight. And for a venue that we've had no practice in, I'd so we've done a good job, ne?"
Some fans clapped while others cheered and whistled. Kai smiled and clapped as well, Reita nodded in agreement, Aoi placed his hands on his hips and smiled out at the audience while Uruha crossed his arms and glanced at the ground. Ruki wiped his sweatband over his mouth before continuing.
"Ah ... seeing all of you out there has really made us privileged to be a part of the music industry. Your support has really given us motivation over these long years ... Arigatou ..." Ruki nodded and bowed his head slightly before stepping up onto his platform and raising his fist, "Lets get this started, you've been waiting long enough~! Get up, Linda~!"

At the start of 'Linda' Aoi and Uruha took up the task of getting the audience to begin with the clapping sequence. Ruki stepped down off his platform and stood opposite to Reita who stayed still, waiting for his cue. Then with the second sequence of clapping, Kai pitched in with beating his drums in time to the clapping. Soon enough it was Ruki's turn to start singing the opening verse. But before the first little verse ended, Aoi and Uruha left their places to jump out onto the extended stage. Suddenly Aoi, Uruha, Reita and Ruki got into jumping around the stage like they did during 'Linda' at the 'Nameless Liberty' concert. Kai got to head-bang a little bit as he was not often able to do, but it made the fans laugh anyway. When it came to singing "Pinky Heaven or Bloody hell' and 'Candy Voice & Devil's smile', Ruki and Reita did their part of alternative singing ... or rather growling, when it comes to Reita.
For the whole song Aoi and Uruha remained on the extended stage playing to the audience, though sometimes swapping sides. Ruki kept one foot on his platform while he sang and Reita also went over when he wasn't helping Ruki with vocal to place his own foot on there, cradling his bass as he played. The audience swayed their hands from side-to-side during the choruses and jumping during the verses in between. Again 'Linda' was another song that wouldn't die out easily. From the very first concert, it has been performed and keeps getting better with each performance. The girls thought it was a rather humorous title for a song and whenever they were together listening to the radio, if a radio announcer named 'Linda' as the next song to be played, they'd just laugh. Of course they'd turn it up louder after laughing. Finally as the song was coming to an end, Aoi, Uruha, Reita and Ruki once again jumped around the stage while the audience head-banged. Aoi and Uruha left the extended stage to move back to their places and finish off the clapping sequence with Kai's drumming.
