There’s no doubt that she’s beautiful, and she knows it, just as much as she has to know how sexy she is. Honestly I’m beginning to think the girl is getting some sort of sick, twisted kick out of torturing me. Perhaps she doesn’t like me at all, or perhaps she just likes to see me squirm. Yeah, I’m definitely going with that second option, although I can’t say that I mind admiring the girl from afar. Right now she’s laughing at something one of her friends, who I learned earlier was some guy named Matt, is saying. She’s laughing a genuine, toss your head back, mouth slightly parted kind of laugh, and I must say laughter never looked as sexier as it looks on her right now. A bottle of beer is resting against her thigh, sliding against her skin in sync with her body movements as she tries to regain her composure. She shakes her head and puts a hand against Matt’s chest, her loose ponytail swinging back and forth.
“Stop gawking.” I flinch when Ashley gives me a gentle push as she props herself up onto an empty stool beside me.
I frown and tear my eyes away from Carrie for a moment to look at my best friend. “I’m not gawking.” I say indignantly.
Ashley snorts and administers a quick slap to my exposed shoulder. “Ow.” I complain while shoving her hard, almost causing her to fall from the stool.
“Stop pouting. Why don’t you go over and talk to her, all that’s separating you is the pool.”
I glare at her. “It’s her birthday; I’m not going to drag her away from her friends. Besides, shouldn’t you be convincing me to stay away from her and not encouraging me to pursue her.” I point out.
Ashley shrugs. “Probably, but who gives a shit.”
I shake my head. “I’m pretty sure my brother would.” I respond with a short laugh.
Ashley reaches out in front of her and grabs a beer. “What he doesn’t know can’t hurt him.” She says simply, popping the cap off of her bottle.
Before I can answer we’re being joined by a third person. “How did I know you two would be chilling at the bar all night.” I flinch for the second time that night at the sound of her voice. Those damn hairs on the back of my neck raising never fails.
I shift on the stool and turn towards the voice, obviously already knowing who it belongs to. Immediately my eyes drift down to where Carrie’s hands are resting on her hips, which naturally my eyes continue to wander down the length of her body to admire her long, sexy exposed legs. Damn you Carrie, you just had to wear shorts tonight didn’t you?
She clears her throat and my head quickly snaps up again, catching her gaze. “I didn’t take you as the anti-social type.” She jokes, sliding in between me and Ashley and setting her beer down onto the bar before grabbing hold of another one and turning to face me again.
I swallow hard and try not to pay too much attention to the lack of space between us. Clearing my throat I force my eyes up and away from her hips and stomach, which are at a really good viewing level mind you, and look up at her.
“I didn’t want to interrupt you and your friend.” I explain.
She bumps my knee with her side. “You wouldn’t have interrupted anything, it was just Matt.”
A short silence falls between us before Ashley breaks it. I had almost forgotten she was even there. “Oh look at that, we’re a little low on chips and pretzels, I’ll go get some more.” I stifle my laughter at my friend’s monotone as I watch her grab hold of the two half full bowls and make a move towards the house.
Carrie remains leaning up against the bar as she keeps her eyes on mine. “So…” I mutter, nervously clapping my hands together.
“You didn’t bring a date.” She points out. She almost sounds impressed by that.
I shrug my shoulders and grin. “I brought Ashley.”
Carrie cracks a smile and releases a soft chuckle. “That’s not what I meant, she doesn’t count.”
I laugh while still maintaining my grin. “True.” I draw out.
She shifts her weight from one foot to the other as she crosses her arms over chest, my eyes fall again briefly before lifting once again and locking eyes with her. I can’t keep my eyes off the girl’s body with her this close to me, sue me. “So what’s the real reason you came dateless then.” The words leave her lips almost entirely too playfully.
My grin slowly falters as I become serious. “You know why.” I state in a whisper.
Her smile widens into a cocky grin. Of course the girl knows why I didn’t bring anyone with me, because she pretty much asked me not to without actually verbalizing the question. Even though absolutely nothing should happen between us, at this point there is no guaranteeing that it won’t.
She pushes away from the bar and begins to slowly lean in closer to me. “I’m not sure I do.” She teases.
I let out a deep breath as her hand brushes along my thigh, her fingertips casually gliding over the small amount of skin exposed by a tear in the material of my jeans. Sinking my teeth into my bottom lip I kept my eyes locked firmly on hers.
Her fingers tracing along the edge of the hole in my jeans was making it extremely difficult for me to concentrate. “What are we doing?” I manage to let out in a soft whisper.
I watch her gaze shift from mine to my lips briefly before meeting my eyes once again. “I’m not really sure…” She responds, slowly pulling away from me and leaning back against the bar. My eyebrows scrunch together in confusion but I soon realize why she pulled away.
“Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you…” I try, and surprisingly manage, to keep myself from laughing at the site of my brother walking towards us with a cake in his hands. What the hell is she a kid now?
“…Happy birthday to you” he finishes just as he finally reaches us, the rest of Carrie’s friends gathering behind him.
Carrie smiles, that fake smile again, and inwardly I feel myself smile. “Aw, Jase, you shouldn’t have.” She moves away from the bar to allow my brother to set her cake down on top of it.
I push up from the stool I had been seated in almost the entire night and casually slide behind it, grasping onto the back of it for support as Ashley appeared beside me. “Just like Jason to completely ruin a potential moment right?” She whispers.
I cock my head to the side. “Are we that obvious?” I question worriedly.
Ashley shakes her head. “Not unless you know what to look for, no. Since I’m in on this little secret I can definitely tell there’s more there than just a sister a getting to know her sister in-law.”
I groan. “Ugh, don’t remind me.”
Ashley patted my back and we both focused our attention on my brother and Carrie. “Make a wish before the candles melt down any further and wax gets all over the cake, Care.” My brother instructs.
Carrie’s lips tighten before she lowers her head towards the cake and pauses for a moment before parting her lips to blow the candles out.
“God, you’re getting so old, Care.” Matt teases, patting Carrie on the shoulder. “Too old for me to get my hits in on you”
Carrie shoots him a warning glance. “You so much as poke me and I’ll kick your ass.” Her surrounding group of friend’s “ooh” as Matt puts his hands up in defeat.
Jason wraps an arm around Carrie’s waist and pulls her against his hip. He seems to really like doing that to her, but Carrie seems to always have this look on her face when he did. “We may not be stupid enough to hit the girl, but…” He trails off, his eyes darting quickly towards the pool.
Carrie’s eyes widen as she attempts to push away from my brother. “Well Jason, I like the way you think.” Matt pipes in, stepping up to Carrie’s other side and wrapping his arm around her waist too.
I feel the corners of my mouth tug upward into a smile at the thought of what is to come. Hmm a wet Carrie, I can’t say I’d be complaining.
“I swear to God, you guys!” She shouts, thrashing her body wildly to get out of their grasps.
They pass by us and I can’t help the laugh that finally leaves my lips. Carrie’s head snaps in my direction and she grins mischievously at me. “Oh you think it’s funny do you?”
Before I can fully comprehend what is happening her hand is wrapping tightly around my wrist just as Jason and Matt move to toss her into the pool, and successfully she manages to pull me in with her.
I shoot up from the water coughing and spitting out chlorine as I search for the birthday girl who finally decides to emerge from the water, amusement written all across her face.
“Oh you think it’s funny?”
She laughs harder and nods. “You were totally all for them throwing me into the pool. Now I don’t feel so bad about being thrown in since I’m not the only one completely soaked.” She says, splashing a wave of water in my direction.
“Yeah yeah” I mutter, splashing her back, “I’m willing to take one for the team. But now you’ll have to lend me something to wear unless you want me walking around like this the rest of the night.”
I catch the faint smile on her lips as she seems to be thinking about it. “Well the grungy wet look seems like it would suit you well.” She jokes while releasing her hair from the even looser ponytail it was in.
I splash her again. “As much as I love knowing that you’d enjoy watching me walk around your party the rest of the night with my clothes clinging even tighter to my body, I really think I need a change of clothes. Not like I’d fit any of your shit, but it’s worth a shot.”
She nods and begins swimming towards the edge of the pool towards the ladder. “I’m sure you can fit my clothes.” She says, hoisting herself out of the water before turning to stare at me from outside of the pool. She crouches and smiles, “And for the record, you know you’d enjoy watching me walk around my party with my clothes clinging to me even more than already are too.” She finishes with a wink before turning her back to me and heading towards her house.
Laughing I move towards the ladder and lift myself out of the pool. “And what were you two talking about?” Ashley questions and I walk passed her ringing out my shirt in an effort to stop water dripping all over the place before I enter Carrie’s house.
“You know, just a little bit of this and that. She’s going to give me a change of clothes, so I’ll be back in a bit.” I tell her before stepping into the house and sliding the glass door shut behind me.
“Care?” I call out, no answer.
Glancing down at the hardwood floor I spot tiny puddles of water leading down the hall. I make my way down the hall following the water trail she left behind until I reached what I’m guessing is her bedroom.
“Carrie?” I repeat, pausing in the doorway.
“I’m in here, in the closet.” She calls out, her voice muffled.
Finally I step into her bedroom and follow the only light in the room which is coming from the closet. I round the small corner in her bedroom that leads into the closet and I rest against the frame of the door as I peer in at her.
“Um, I have shorts or jeans you could put on…whichever you want to wear is fine.” She rambles, turning to face me with a pile of clothes in her hands.
I chuckle. “Assuming any of your clothes will fill fit me of course.”
She rolls her eyes at me. “They’ll fit you fine, here.” She says, pushing the pile into my chest and pausing in front of me.
I remain still, hands resting unmoving at my sides. “Thanks.” I breathe out. I tell my brain to tell my arms to take the clothes from her hands but I don’t move.
Her tongue darts across her bottom lip and I lose it. “No prob-“ I muffle the end of her sentence with a crash of my lips to hers. The pile of clothes in her hands falls in between at our feet as we move to close the small amount of space it had taken up. My hands slide up the length of her arms until they reach her shoulders and I grip the back of her neck to deepen the kiss. In one swift motion I shift our positions until I have her pressed up against the frame of the door. My hands are all over her now, trailing up her thigh, rubbing along her stomach, her skin on fire beneath my touch.
When air becomes a necessity I pull back and look up at her, trying to catch my breath, her breathing just as heavy as my own.
“I’m sorry.” I apologize, still trying to get my breathing under control.
She shakes her head. “Nothing to be sorry for.” She says breathlessly before recapturing my mouth with hers.
I groan into her mouth as we fall back into our previously heated make out session. My fingers fist the bottom of her shirt tightly, my knuckles no doubt turning white, as I push myself more into her. I swear my hands hand a mind of their own sometimes. Boldly I begin to slide my hand between her legs, teasingly tracing up and down her thigh. She moans loudly inside of my mouth and tears her mouth away from mine once again gasping for air. I placed a gentle kiss against the underside of her chin before kissing lower and twirling my tongue around her pulse point.
“Oh god…” She sighs out, fisting the back of my wet t-shirt as she arches into me.
I alternated from twirling my tongue around her pulse point to sucking gently at her soft flesh before feathering kisses down further to her collarbone. My hands continued to fist the bottom of her shirt as I kissed my way back to her lips and heatedly reclaimed them. Without thinking I tugged the shirt roughly in different directions, the buttons popping down the middle. I felt Carrie gasp in my mouth but she made no move to protest. Pushing the material off of her shoulders it joined the other clothes already at our feet. I slid my hands around her waist and slowly up her back until my fingers were brushing against her bra clasp. The second her bra hit the floor I was kissing my way down the center of her chest before turning my kisses to the left and capturing her breast inside of my mouth.
“Kelly…” Carrie moans quietly, her fingers dancing through my hair.
I turn my attention to her other breast and give it just as much attention as I gave the other, my hand growing bold and sliding partially inside of Carrie’s shorts. I steady my hand and pull my head away from her chest to look at her. She leans forward and delicately presses her lips to mine as I finally slide my hand lower.
Instinctively her hips roll out against my touch, keeping up in perfect rhythm with my movements. Her soft cries are muffled inside of my mouth, growing louder as I quicken my pace. I can feel her clutching the back of my shirt even more firmly now as her hips move to catch up with the pace I’ve set.
“I’m…” She mumbles against my mouth before gasping, her head falling back to rest against the door frame as her body trembles against my hand.
Slowly I remove my hand and rest my forehead into the center of her chest. I can hear her heart pounding in her chest; feel the rise and fall of her chest as she tries to catch her breath.
“I got a little carried away.” I admit, chuckling softly against her chest.
She chuckles too. “I’d say. What did my shirt ever do to you?” She jokes.
“Kelly? Carrie?”
My head snaps up from her chest and I quickly pull her away from the doorway. “Shut the door.” I whisper.
She toes the clothes in the doorway into the closet and pushes the door shut. “We’re changing, Jase.” She calls out, eyeing me.
“Oh okay. I got the cake all cut up and ready to serve. Ya’ll should probably hurry up if you want a piece; you know how popular the red velvet cake is.”
“We’re almost done, Jase.” I call out, remaining completely still.
“Alright.”
We remain silent for a couple of seconds before we’re sure that my brother is gone. Until that moment the consequences of what just happened were the furthest thing from my mind, but what the hell happened now?
