First Date

Friday came round faster than anyone had anticipated and Jo was sat in her room putting the finishing touchs to the new band emblem AJ had asked her to design. "Knock knock!" Smiled AJ as he entered the room. Jo looked up from her painting and smiled. "Hey mate, just putting the finishing touchs to the logo on your drum kit." "Sweet lets have a looksie." AJ's eyes widened as he saw a drawing of a cartoon rotwieller wearing a spiked collar, arms folded, holding a pair of drumsticks. It had its back to them with its head to the side in a cheeky grin. A pair of sunglasses perched on its nose and a black leather jacket with "The Rockwiellers" written across the back in silver letters. "That is bloody awesome where the hell did you learn to draw like that?"

Jo laughed. "Two years in art college and a year working for a pet portrait company kind of helped."

"I bloody love you." Laughed AJ grabbing her in a hug.

"I can make it into a teeshirt print as well if you'd like."

"Yeah defiently!" He said releasing his grip on her. "Come on you can help me pack the van."

Jo smiled and grabbed her guitar, the gig wasn't the only thing she was looking forward to tonight.

David sighed as he rummaged around in his wardrobe looking for a shirt to wear for the night, he had already picked out a pair of dark blue jeans and was looking for a shirt to go with them. Finally settling on a plain black short sleeved shirt his next dilema was what to do with his hair.

"Oh bugger it!" He muttered to himself running his hands through it to spike it and then grabbed his jacket and headed out to meet Scott and John.

Jo and the rest of the group arrived at Tiger Tiger and started setting up. "Loving the band emblem chick." Smiled Jemma as she helped Paul unload the amps.

Jo smiled. "Yeah well my artistic talent hasn't gone to waste I'm glad to say."

Paul smiled and started tuning up his guitar. "You sure you memorised that guitar solo for tonight?"

"Yep, no problem." She replied as she tuned up her own guitar, looking up she smiled as she saw three familiar faces enter.

"Oh yeah?" Laughed Paul as he saw David smile and wave. "Shut up!" Laughed Jo as she put her guitar down and jumped off the stage.

John and Scott looked at eachother and nodded. "We'll leave you to it." Smiled Scott as Jo approached. "Thanks guys." Said David as he leaned against the bar.

"Glad you could make it." Said Jo.

"Why did you think I was going to stand you up?" Laughed David. Jo raised her eyebrows and smirked.

"You might have done."

"As if I would. Scary psycho like you?"

Jo laughed. "I'm not that bad. Anyway what do you want to do after I'm done here?"

"Anything you want." Smiled David. "Surprise me."

Jo smirked and folded her arms. "I thought I'd done that already."

With that she turned and went back to the stage, flashing him a cheeky smile as she walked away.

"I think she fancies you." Smirked John appearing behind him. David snorted and raised his eyebrows before turning back to the bar and ordering a round.

After the gig Jemma collared Jo and whispered into her ear. "You serious?" Gasped Jo. Jemma smiled and nodded and suddenly all that could be heard was the two girls screaming.

"Hey up what's happening over there?" Said David as Jo came bounding over barely able to keep the smile from her face.

"We've just got out confirmation for battle of the bands next month!" Screamed Jo jumping up and down like a mad woman.

"Well done." Smiled Scott.

"I'm phsyically shaking." Laughed Jo.

"We can tell." Smirked David. "Anyway what do you fancy doing tonight?"

"I dunno, surprise me." Smiled Jo.

It was a warm night so Jo and David went to one of the bars in the bay and sat outside.

"I can't believe we got into the final shortlist for Battle of The Bands." Smiled Jo as David sat next to her and handed her a drink.

"Yeah well you guys are good you deserved it." He smiled. Jo blushed and looked away. "Thanks."

"Here's to next month." Said David raising his bottle, Jo smiled and did the same.

"So you glad you took a chance on coming to Wales?" Asked David.

"Definetly, all I need to do now is get my own place, although if you'd said to me I'd end up meeting you and we'd be here now I'd probably have told you in no polite terms to "go away!""

David laughed and gazed into her eyes for a long moment, he'd always been attracted to blue eyes ever since he could remember, however he soon stopped when Jo snapped him out of it.

"You okay?" She asked, her brow furrowing.

David blinked before replying. "Sorry, I erm..."

Jo smiled and stifled a giggle. "Let me guess you're one of those blokes that's a sucker for a pair of big blue eyes?"

David blushed and looked away, earning a giggle from Jo.

"It's okay, you put me infront of a guy with brown eyes and I stare as well."

David raised his eyebrows and smirked. "You're just saying that to make me feel less of an idiot."

Jo looked offended. "No I am not!" She playfully slapped him on the arm.

David just laughed, and shook his head.

They finished their drinks and walked along the bay, the night was still warm and they stopped and sat on a low wall near the waters edge.

"So what do we do now?" Asked Jo.

David shrugged. "Well if you wanted we could go back to mine and have a drink and a chat."

Jo rolled her eyes and she considered her options. "Yeah okay then." She smiled.

The wind began to pick up and Jo shivered slightly, wishing she'd put a jacket on. David noticed and took off his own jacket and put it round her shoulders as they walked. "What about you?" Asked Jo.

"I'm used to the cold, I grew up in Scotland." Jo laughed. "True, thanks." David smiled and hung back slightly as they walked past a small florist cart selling gift wrapped atrificial roses. He smirked and picked out a single red rose, he caught up with Jo, stepping infront of her and producing his gift. Jo smiled and took it, giving him a little surprise of her own and kissing him on the cheek. Smiling he reached for her hand, his smile widening as she took his in hers and interlocked her fingers with his.

Maybe John was right, maybe she did fancy him. All he knew knew at that moment was that he'd certainly fallen for her.
