Their hearts were still pounding wildly. “Please don’t ever do that to me again.” He said into her neck, and then rolled off. They lay beside each other, savoring the moment of togetherness, back in his arms again where she belonged. She snuggled peacefully on top of his chest, breathing in the familiarity of his natural scent and his favorite soap, and they both drifted off to sleep.
Back on the road again, didn’t get any easier for Sherrie, but she was learning to adjust. People loved Steve and they all had to have a piece of him. “You should be happy.” One woman told Sherrie who was hovering over Steve. “You go home with him every night, let us have our time.” Sherrie opened her mouth to say something smart to the woman, but a gentle arm led her away. It was Diane. “She was rude, but she’s right, you and Steve are doing ok, he’s not messing with the groupies like he use to, let him have his time to shine and he will be with you tonight.” Sherrie reluctantly agreed. “That’s how I look at it.” Diane said. Sherrie didn’t want to break it to her, that Ross didn’t have the same amount of crazed female fans that Steve did, so of course she saw it differently. “You’re right.” “Let’s go get something to eat.” The Journey women consisted of Sherrie, Tena (Neal), Tanè (Jon), Diane (Ross) and Susan (Steve) and they were usually thrust together, while their men did whatever they did when they weren’t looking. “Let’s be good little wives and go spend their money.” Diane laughed and led Sherrie away, so they could meet up with the other women; who were already sitting at their table.
A different town every time, but they always managed to find the same sort of nouveau riche chic type restaurants, that catered to their culinary tastes, to keep themselves trim and attractive for their husbands. As Sherrie approached the table she could sense her presence wasn’t welcome there, female cattiness at its finest, but she decided they would do good to get over it, because she wasn’t going anywhere. She sat down. “You guys order yet?” Diane asked picking up a menu. “No.” Tanè said, looking at Sherrie, ready to get something started. “That Gregg sure is a good kisser.” She said absently. All of the women looked at her and then Sherrie, who held her own. “I imagine he is.” Sherrie didn’t want to say anything, Diane was the only one she could trust with a secret, if she so chose to divulge. Truth was, she and Gregg did share a kiss and it was passionate. Steve was a little bit taller than her, but with Gregg she had to stand on tip toe, with his head bent to accommodate her. She had been at his house about 3 weeks, when she and Gregg shared the kiss. She was feeling down, still upset with Steve, plus her hormones were going crazy, she hadn’t had sex in about a month at that point, so her body was screaming for male attention. Everyone at that table knew Tanè was jealous of Sherrie, because of Steve. She wanted Jon to hold that position. “Steve’s not bad either……………” Tanè said before catching herself. “I mean, so I’ve been told.” Sherrie chose to ignore, she knew she was trying to get her goat and refused to give her the satisfaction of knowing she was being a pest. Sherrie also knew that Steve on one occasion shared a kiss perhaps more with at least 2 women at that table if the whispered rumors were true. Diane shook her head at Tanè and told her to behave. The rest of the meal time went on without a hitch, when Tanè realized she’d have to use different tactics if she wanted to get next to Sherrie. Later that evening, it was Sherrie and Steve alone in their room. He asked her about her day and how she was faring with the other women. “As good as to be expected, I guess.” She replied getting ready for bed. He laughed softly. “I know how you women can be.”~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Three weeks later, everyone was back home. Herbie was having his annual towards the end of the year and touring “Just because” party at his home; it was something he did in appreciation for all of their hard work during touring and to keep morale up. They wouldn’t be on the road again for a month, so he felt it was as good a time as any. Most of the members were there, with Steve and Sherrie always showing up some thirty or so minutes after everyone else, without fail. The party was in full swing. Some people were in the house, but most had spilled out into the back yard. Herbie took special care with the landscaping. There were colorful garden lights, that played beautifully with the satiny deep blue of the evening sky with streaks of pink and lavender, hints of orange, the pool had floating candles; the food was catered to appeal to every taste there and music playing in the back ground. Sherrie went to find Diane, as Steve mingled with Neal and Jon. The evening wouldn’t have been complete without Tanè calling attention to herself. She wanted Steve’s attention and he ignored her, last thing he wanted was to get Sherrie going again. She hiked up her skirt to reveal shapely legs, to dance and sway her hips to some popular song of the day. Jon walked over to her and asked her how many drinks she’d had; to which she replied. “None” Which was true, she didn’t need alcohol to release her inhibitions, Steve was all the “vice” she needed. “You’re making a spectacle of yourself, if you don’t stop, we’re going home.” She “sobered” up quick and apologized to whoever was in ear shot. When a slow song came on, Steve grabbed Sherrie up in his arms. It was uncharacteristic of him to want to slow dance in front of a crowd, it was one thing when they were alone, but he was so thankful she was in his life again, he didn’t care who saw the love he felt for her at that moment. As the couple was entranced with each other, neither had realized that Gregg and Lori had walked in. Gregg was the last person Steve expected to see there. Gregg had isolated himself from most of the Journey members; mainly Steve months after choosing to leave. The men embraced anyway, and he awkwardly embraced Sherrie, feeling a little guilty about the kiss they shared while his wife was out of the house; it was a thrilling moment at the time, because they were mere moments of being caught in the act, his wife had “forgotten” something and doubled back. She was a woman and wasn’t stupid, she was glad when Sherrie said she was moving out, she and Gregg were getting too comfortable with each other………………While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
