Chapter 9: Surprise 1
Alex opened the door to the apartment and let out a sigh, "It's so good to be home!" He said as Ethan walked in behind him.
"I couldn't agree more. But we have to leave in like three days." He said with a chuckle putting down their bags.
Alex sat on the couch letting out a long sigh. Ethan closed the door and started to put their bags in their bedroom. After he settled everything he joined Alex on the couch and put his arm around him.
"I never knew how much travel wears you out until I went on tour with you guys." Ethan said kissing Alex's forehead.
"At first it's exciting then, you start to miss your friends and family. It's great playing for our fans, seeing the world, but there's no place like home. You make it even better now." Alex looked at him and leaned in giving him a soft kiss on the lips.
They pulled away from each other and Ethan pulled him closer. Alex grabbed the remote and was just about to turn on the TV when there was a rapid knocking at their door. They gave each other a confused look.
Ethan stood up and walked towards the door. He looked through the peephole, "It's Brian and Angel." He said opening the door. The newlyweds rushed in without saying as much as a hello. Ethan closed the door and joined them.
"What's wrong?" Alex asked standing up.
"Did you get a chance to check your mail?" Angel asked.
"I'll be back." Ethan said grabbing his keys. He left the apartment in haste.
"Well, hi, how are you?" Alex said with a smile and gave them both a hug.
The couple chucked, "Hi, sorry we're just in a little bit of shock right now." Angel said hugging him.
"It's good to see you buddy, we missed you." Brian said smiling patting his back.
"Missed you too. Can't wait to hear all about your honeymoon. Minus the bedroom adventures." He said with a laugh. Ethan came back with a stack of mail. He closed the door and went over to the table and started to sort through it.
"What am I looking for?" He asked looking up at Brian and Angel.
"Oh, you'll know once you find it." Angel said.
Ethan found a black envelope with red calligraphy writing addressed to him and Alex. He walked over to them showing the envelope to Brian and Angel. They nodded as Alex came up next to him. He nodded at Ethan and he slowly started to open it. He took out two black pieces of paper with the same red writing.
"You are cordially invited to the wedding ceremony of Lyndsey Gunnulfsen and Andrea Michelle Hill on October Eighth Two Thousand Twenty at twelve in the afternoon, at an undisclosed location in Virginia Beach, VA. Enclosed are directions to location. Reception will follow at Peabody's. We look forward to having you there." Ethan read out loud. Before he and Alex could react there was a knock at their door.
Alex walked towards the door and looked through the peephole and looked back at three with a confused look. He opened the door and there stood Andy with a smile on her face. He invited her in and she waited for him to close the door.
He led her towards the others. She looked around at them and gave them a big smile.
"Uh Andy what's going on?" Angel asked.
Andy just kept smiling and turned to his best friend, "Ethan James Chandler would you be my best man?"
"Wait what?"
"I think we need to talk." Andy said just as Angel's phone started to ring.
"It's Lynn." She walked away from them and answered her phone. Another knock came from the door.
"Oh my God!" Alex said giving a frustrated sigh. This time he didn't look through the peephole and he opened the door. Justin gave him a sheepish smile and held up his invitation. Alex led him inside and they joined the others.
Angel came back over to them, "So all of us are to meet Lynn at the townhouse. Andy seriously what's going on?"
"Come on, we'll explain everything." Andy said walking towards the door opening it. Without another word she just left leaving everyone else confused. After a few minutes Andy popped her head in the doorway, "Come on y'all." Then she walked away again.
Ethan grabbed his keys and started to rush out of the apartment and everyone followed. Alex closed the door and made sure it was locked and rushed up to everyone.
"Guys, what the fuck?!" Alex said as they waited for the elevator.
"I told ya. Well kinda." Justin said with a small shrug.
"But, they've been acting so strange. Like how come they were ignoring each other, but then they acted like they were together? Guys this is so confusing!" Alex said.
"Not gonna lie, I'm actually kinda glad we missed all this. But I'm excited to get back into everything." Brian said as the elevator chimed and the doors opened. They all got in and Justin hit the button to take them to the ground floor.
"I'm so in the dark. How long did it take to plan your wedding?" Ethan asked Brian and Angel.
"Close to a year." Angel said and Brian nodded.
"Yeah, you know we had to book the church, find a place for the reception, figure out the cake, the invitations, the guest list, the wedding party, it was a lot." Brian told them.
"Okay, okay, okay, wait we came back from Ireland at the end of August. Lynn went with them to the Philippines. When we came back from Florida. We had our camp out. But that January the two disappeared for almost six months. We had our next camp out. Then Andy was off and came back for your wedding. There's a gap. Lynn kind of told us, but at the same time did she tell us everything?" Justin asked and everyone shook their head.
The elevator doors opened and they all started to make their way towards the front doors. They were met with a smiling Shey and a black limo.
"Uh, okay? Where's Andy?" Brian asked. Shey just opened the door and Ethan shrugged and they all got in. Once everyone was comfortable Shey gave them a small envelope and she closed the door.
The limo started to drive away. Alex opened the envelope and took out a DVD that had a post it on it saying, "PLAY ME." He gave the DVD to Angel who was closer to the DVD player and the the small TV. She didn't ask about it but turned everything on. Once she hit play they saw Andy and Lynn on the screen with smiles. Angel turned up the volume and they all watched.
"Hey guys, we know we've kept you in the dark for a while." Lynn started to say, "Today you received invitations to our wedding."
"We know it comes as a total shock and we still have a lot of explaining to do." Andy said.
"This whole journey started right after we got back from Ireland. We were only together eight months at that point. This past year was a test for us, and to why we've been acting really strange." Lynn said and Andy was nodding.
"With everything that happened with Nicole and Vicki, we wanted to be extremely careful. We came to an agreement. To where we had to keep our distance and to try and be out of the public eye for a while." Andy said.
"But, we were dropping little hints here and there. We hoped that all of you would have figured it out by now." Lynn gave a knowing smile.
"Now, only a select few know the real reasons why we were so secretive. Melissa had to be one, our parents, Shey, Hayley, Serenity, Kara, and Wendy was the last one to know. Now, we're sorry we didn't tell y'all everything. But tonight it will all come to light. When we see you, we just hope what we tell you, you won't be upset about it." Andy explained. The limo came to a stop and the door opened.
"We'll see you guys in a bit." Lynn winked, and the screen went black. Alex was the first to get out and smiled when he saw Mark.
"Hey! I didn't know you would be here!" Alex said with a smile and gave him a hug.
"Per Melissa I was told to be here, Lisa said she had to be here too. Same with Cam, Terry, Lauren, and Kim. What's going on?" Mark asked.
"We're just in the dark as much as you." Alex said as everyone else started to get out of the limo. They each gave him a hug and they heard someone call out Brian's name. They turned and saw Lisa, Terry, Cam, Lauren, and Kim walking up to them. They all greeted each other and Wendy opened the front door and smiled.
"They're ready for you." She said and walked back inside leaving the door open. Everyone looked at each other with confused looks. They climbed the steps and walked inside. Angel grabbed Brian's arm.
"Babe! Look at the colors! Do you remember what Andy said on our double date?" She asked. Brian looked around and saw streamers of red, black, silver, and emerald. The dining room was set up and they could smell food being made. Shey greeted them with someone carrying a tray of champagne flutes and she started to give them one each. After they each had one, she pointed them in the direction of the living room.
"How did she get her so fast?" Angel whispered and everyone shook their heads.
Still confused they all walked into living room and saw Lynn's parents, David, Kara, Melissa, Serenity, Erika, and Wendy. Everyone greeted each other and Wendy mentioned that Hayley was going to be video chatting in a few minutes.
Ethan asked what was going on and Wendy just smiled as her phone started to go off. She smiled when she saw Hayley's name pop up. She answered it and she turned her phone and she waved to everyone. She said that she was worried she was going to miss it but Wendy said she called just in time.
Everyone was chatting amongst themselves. Upstairs Lynn and Andy were feeling nervous about what they were going to say. Andy was getting frustrated with her tie again and she threw it against her dresser. Lynn smiled and picked it up. Without saying a word Andy faced her and Lynn started to tie her tie.
"You do realize they are going to be extremely upset." Andy said with a small shake of her head.
"You never know, they could be happy. But like you said last year, we had to keep our heads down and not be in the public eye."
"True, but at the same time these are the biggest two secrets I've kept from my best friend, and some family."
Lynn smiled, "There you go." She adjusted her tie and Andy smiled at her.
"Thank you. Are you ready for this?" Andy asked taking her hand in hers.
"As I'll ever be." Lynn leaned in and gave Andy a lingering soft kiss. There was a small knock on the door. They pulled away from each other and saw Shey standing there with a smile.
"They're all ready for you." She said and she walked away. Both Andy and Lynn sighed giving each other a smile.
"Here goes nothing." Andy said smiling at her. They walked out of the room hand in hand ready to face their friends and family. Well, at least the ones that didn't know what was going on. They stopped at the top of the stairs and saw everyone they held dear talking amongst themselves. After a few moments Shey was softly clinking her glass. When everyone became quiet she announced that Lynn and Andy are coming to address them.
It was the couple's cue to go down the stairs and face the group of people. Once they reached the bottom the walked the few steps and stood in front of them.
Andy cleared her throat and smiled, "Could the ones that know what's going on come stand by Lynn and I?" Andy asked. Everyone watched as Melissa, Shey, Wendy, Lynn's parents, Kara, and Serenity stood by them. Wendy was holding her phone out with Hayley's smiling face on the screen. Once everyone was in place Lynn and Andy took a step forward.
Andy cleared her throat again and looked at everyone around the room. She took in a deep breath and let it out. It was time to tell everyone what was going on.
"So as most of you know two years ago in Ireland Lynn and I spent four days in a hotel room fighting with each other. We were uncertain about what the future would hold for us. Then, I had to go back to the hospital for another three days. We spent another two days in the hotel room. During the fourth day, I asked Lynn where would we go from here." Andy started to explain. Then it was Lynn's turn to speak.
"I didn't know how to answer her, and I didn't know what to say. But I saw her grab her chest and we had to go back to the hospital. After three days, we came back and she asked me again. I told her I didn't know. But what we did know was that we didn't want to lose each other and we wanted to be together." Lynn told them.
Andy smiled at her and then looked back at the group, "We came back to the states because I had to return to get some more medical attention. After about two weeks in and out of the hospital I got the clean bill of health. Middle of September I asked her again where would we go from here. She still didn't know the answer. I told her we can keep doing this dance or we can come to a decision."
"Andy's thirtieth birthday was just around the corner and on her birthday we all decided to go and travel to see her family. But the night before Andy took me to one of her favorite spots by the beach and she asked me a question." Lynn said playing with a ring on her left finger with her left thumb. Her left hand being hidden behind her back.
She cleared her throat and smiled, "It was close to midnight and I saw not only my parents, but her parents, and Melissa, walking up to us. I asked what they were all doing there and my mom pointed to Andy. I turned around only to see her down on one knee."
"What?!"
"No way!"
"Wait, hang on!"
"I KNEW IT!"
Everyone started to talk at once. Tim came up to them and smiled, "Now, now, calm down. I got it all on video." He walked around the couch and grabbed the remote from the coffee table. The video was all cued up and he hit play. Everyone's attention was now on the TV screen.
October Seventh Two Thousand Eighteen 11:35 PM
Came on the screen and everyone's eyes were glued to the TV screen.
"Mom? Dad? What are you doing here? Melissa? Mr. Hill? Mrs. Hill? What's going on?" Lynn asked.
"I told you to call me Kevin." He said with a smile.
"Turn around sweetheart I think Andy wants to ask you something." Cathy said with a smile. Tim walked closer to them and he smiled seeing Andy down on her good knee kneeling in front of Lynn.
Lynn turned around and gasped when she saw Andy down on her knee.
"Babe what's going on?"
Andy smiled, "When we got back from Ireland I didn't tell you I was in Boston for a couple of days, because I wanted to ask your father for permission to ask you this question."
Lynn turned to her dad with wide eyes. He shook his head and told his daughter to look back at Andy.
Andy took in a deep breath and let it out. She took both of Lynn's hands in hers and began to speak, "I know it's only been close to ten months since we officially got together, but I know for a fact that I can't see myself with anyone else but you. You've been this light in my life that has been leading me out of my darkness. You've seen me at my worst and you've seen me at my best. I have all these flaws yet you stood by me. You're the first one I've opened up to in a short amount of time. This has never happened to me before.
That moment in Charlotte when you and I locked eyes, yes I was a nervous wreck but I felt something else. Something I still can't describe. I'm not trying to sound cliche, but you've sparked life in me again. You gave me a whole new meaning and I can't thank you enough. I was scared to tell you I love you but during that video chat when I said it for the first time it just came naturally.
Lyndsey, you saw something in me that I couldn't see myself. You brought out a whole new side of me that I didn't know I had. The moment I fell in love with you was that night in Boston in Kara's office. When you slapped me because I left you."
Lynn let out a soft chuckle and at this point tears were softly coming down her face.
"We weren't even together, and I knew I was in love with you. It scared me, but I saw flashes of us having a life together. I'm hoping that's how you feel too. Those four days in Ireland really opened my eyes and that's when I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you. So, Lyndsey Gunnulfsen, what are you doing for the rest of my life?"
Lynn gave out a tearful nervous chuckle, "What?"
Andy softly smiled, "Lyndsey Gunnulfsen will you marry me?"
All Lynn could do was nod at Andy.
"Is that a yes?" Susan asked grabbing her husband's arm.
Lynn smiled and nodded, "Yes! A million times yes!"
Andy let out a sigh of relief and Lynn helped her stand up. Andy wrapped her arms around Lynn and held her close. When they pulled away they kissed each other softly. After a few moments they pulled away from each other and rested their foreheads against one another.
"I'm sorry I don't have a ring but I promise I will give you one soon." Andy said softly and Lynn shook her head.
She touched Andy's cheek softly, "We got all the time in the world." Andy smiled and wiped a tear from Lynn's face. Melissa cleared her throat and Andy raised her head.
"Okay, so I know planning a wedding is going to take a while, but there could be a chance I may be leaving soon. I don't want to be engaged for a year planning a wedding. What do you say about getting married now and then we'll have the ceremony when I get back?"
"What are you talking about you may be leaving?"
Andy sighed, "I got a phone call from an agency. They saw the pictures from the PVRIS tour and they also heard my music. They want to represent me. I'm not sure when, but they told me I should be ready any day now. Melissa checked them out she says they're a really good agency and come highly recommended."
"How long will you be gone?"
"I don't know. That's why Melissa's here. While I'm away I can look for places to have the wedding. You can make all the decisions, besides the food, I already have a place in mind. Anyway, what do you say? Why not right here right now? Your parents are here and so are mine. We can take a long honeymoon and get away from everything for a while. I'm still in the beginning stages of signing my contract. So what do you say?"
Lynn looked at her parents and they looked back at her with smiles. She looked at Andy and smiled at her, "You always seem to surprise me every day. Okay let's do it."
"I was hoping you would say that." Melissa said with a smile and walked up to them. Andy's parents stood by her just as Lynn's parents stood be her.
Melissa stood between them and the couple had their hands in one another's. She cleared her throat and smiled, "I'm so glad I got ordained for this. I've always wanted to do this!"
She looked between the two and began her speech, "We are gathered here this night to join Lyndsey Gunnulfsen and Andrea Michelle Hill in matrimony. These two have had a whirlwind of a romance. It all started with a star struck fan meeting her favorite band. Then, it blossomed into unexpected feelings for each other. I've seen couples come through my office. Some would make it and some wouldn't.
I knew Andrea and Lyndsey would only because of what Andrea said about Lyndsey. She had so much love and passion behind her words that I never seen before. I knew Lyndsey would be in good hands when with Andrea. They did overcome a big scandal and they did overcome a lot of controversy. Most couples would have given up. Yet here they stand. Ready to pledge their love to one another for the rest of their lives.
Marriage is hard work and both of you will learn how to compromise. You'll learn new things about each other, you'll fight with each other, you'll laugh with each other, you'll cry with each other. But most importantly you'll love each other. Through the good times and the bad times. The hard times and the easy times. The laughter, and the tears. Be patient with one another and learn how to talk to each other, not AT each other. Be ready to listen, to be there even when you don't want her to be. Be ready for any life changes. Grow together.
But also remember you do have your lives together, and your lives apart from each other. Everything will come full circle in the end. I know this is last minute, but Lyndsey do you have anything you would like to say before we get to the vows?"
Lynn smiled, "Not really, I don't have anything planned, but that doesn't matter. I'll just say what I feel." She cleared her throat and looked into Andy's brown eyes she loved so much.
"Before I met you, I was still kind of reeling from my last relationship. Then, I saw you and something happened. A spark of light and all of sudden it just turned into this fire that I couldn't put out. You kept me warm, kept me on my toes, kept surprising me, kept a smile on my face, kept my heart skipping a beat. You taught me how to let go of someone and how to fight for someone. You kept me dreaming, but always brought me back to reality.
You always knew the right things to say, and would always be there even when I didn't want you to be. You were there by my side. You opened my heart again, you opened my eyes again, you opened my mind again. You're always taking care of others before you and you always know who how to make them smile. You're humble, sweet, kind, loving, amazing, and down to earth, I don't know what I did to deserve you.
But I promise, I will stay by you. I will support you. I will bring you up. I will open my heart, and mind to you. I will love you forever and always."
Melissa smiled and turned to Andy, "Andrea your turn."
"I don't know how to follow up to that but I'm gonna try." She said and everyone chuckled.
Andy nodded and looked into those hazel eyes she would get lost in every time.
"Lyndsey, you saw me for me. Not as a fan, not as a musician, not as a photographer, but me. You saw me do something that I was sure would have been the end of us. But you stood by me anyway. In Ireland you wouldn't let me leave until we resolved everything.
I had a very hard time opening up, but you opened me up. Like no one ever could. You took hold of my heart that night in Kara's office and you still have that hold. No matter how far I go or how long I'm away, I will always be there. To quote the great Richard Marx. Where ever you go, what ever you do I will be right here waiting for you.
I will be here for you from now until forever. I will be your strength when you feel like you don't have any. I will be your shoulder to lean on. I will be your rock to steady you. I will do everything in my power to make you smile every day. I will be your knight in shining armor. I will do my best to make all your dreams come true. I will be your happy ever after. I will never give up on you. I will never bring you down. I will never crush your dreams. I will love you now and for always."
Melissa wiped a tear that escaped her eye, "God! I'm such a sucker for these." She said with a small sniffle. Everyone chuckled and she cleared her throat.
"Now, we don't don't have rings, but we do have temporary ones . Cathy if you could?"
Cathy smiled and pulled out a small ring and gave it to Andy. She touched her cheek gently and Andy gave her a small thank you. Then, Andy reached into her pocket and pulled out a ring.
"Is that..?" Lynn started to say.
Andy nodded, "Yeah, I put my old on back on my right ring finger a couple of weeks ago. I kept this one in my pocket ever since. Earlier today I figured it would only be right if you put it on. This will be on only until we find rings for each other." She said smiling and gave the ring to Lynn. She took it and smiled remembering that Christmas morning when she gave it to her.
"Now, Andrea place the ring on Lynn's left ring finger and repeat after me." Melissa said and she watched as Andy placed the ring on Lynn's finger.
"I, Andrea Michelle Hill."
"I, Andrea Michelle Hill."
"Take you Lyndsey Gunnulfsen as my wife."
"Take you Lyndsey Gunnulfsen as my wife."
"To have and to hold for better or for worse. Through sickness and in health. For richer or poorer. To love and to cherish til death do us part."
Andy smiled and finished placing the ring on Lynn's finger, "To have and to hold for better or for worse. Through sickness and in health. For richer or poorer. To love and to cherish til death do us part."
"Now Lyndsey place the ring on Andrea's finger." Melissa watched as Lynn placed the ring on Andy's left ring finger.
"Repeat after me. I Lyndsey Gunnulfsen take you Andrea Michelle Hill as my wife."
Lynn took a deep breath and smiled, "I, Lyndsey Gunnulfsen, take you Andrea Michelle Hill as my wife."
"To have and to hold, for better or for worse."
"To have and to hold for better or for worse."
"Through sickness and in health, for richer or poorer. To love and to cherish til death do us part."
Lynn finished placing the ring on Andy's finger, "Through sickness and in health, for richer or poorer. To love and to cherish til death do us part."
Melissa smiled, "By the power vested in me and the website that made it possible for me do to this I now pronounce you wife and wife. You may kiss the bride."
Andy and Lynn smiled at each other and leaned in. Their lips met and it was as if it was their first kiss all over again. Melissa and their parents cheered at the happy couple. When they pulled away they each gave Melissa a hug and Andy thanked her for coming. As well as being able to marry them. The two then turned to their parents and hugs were be given out to everyone.
"Okay, you two, anything to say to your family and friends that couldn't be here?" Tim said with a smile.
"We're sorry guys, but we promise you everything will be done proper. We'll let you know when the ceremony is and please don't be mad at us." Lynn said with a smile.
"Ethan, get ready to be on best man duty! We'll see y'all soon!" Andy said with a smile and she turned to Lynn and gave her a kiss.
The camera stayed on them for a few more moments and the TV screen went black.
Tim turned off the TV and smiled. Lynn and Andy waited for the yelling to start. They took a step back when they saw the faces of their friends. They weren't sure what to expect.
Ethan put down his champagne flute and walked up to them. For the first time in a long time Andy couldn't read his face. She wasn't sure if he was mad, upset, happy, or excited. He stood right in front of her and let out a small sigh.
He looked at her and raised his eyebrow. He stood there for another minute not saying anything. After what felt like an eternity, he wrapped his arms around her and picked her up, "DAMN STRAIGHT I'LL BE YOUR BEST MAN! BACHELOR PARTY HERE WE COME!" He yelled as he spun her around.
Lynn stepped to the side and was being bear hugged by Angel. She held her friend close and when they pulled away she looked at her, "Would you be my maid of honor?"
Angel's eyes went wide, "Are you kidding me?! I thought you would never ask!" She said and gave her friend another hug.
Ethan finally put Andy down and gave her a proper hug, "I'm so happy for you! I'm a little upset I wasn't there, but I'm just so happy!" He said as they pulled away from each other.
Everyone around Andy and Lynn were saying congratulations and giving them hugs. Each of them saying how happy they were for them.
When Alex came up to them they smiled, "So does that answer all of your questions?" Lynn asked her best friend.
He chuckled and shook his head, "You have no idea." They gave each other a tight hug and let go.
"So is this like your 'engagement' party?" Brian asked coming up to them.
"Well, for you guys yeah, we still kinda have to do one in Virginia Beach. Hence us going down there tomorrow, so we can have it with Andy's family." Lynn explained.
"Then, when you guys get there, we're gonna do all that rehearsal stuff." Andy said with a smile.
"So wait, those six months you were away, that was your honeymoon?" Justin asked.
"More or less, I was really going through a rough time. I mean I had just gotten married, and we didn't know where we would be staying. Would Andy being moving here, or would I be moving to Georgia or Virginia? Plus Andy said she would be leaving any day was another factor." Lynn told him.
"You knew you were going to leave?" Alex asked.
Andy nodded, "Yeah, but I didn't know when. The day after, I got a phone call from Serenity saying that some bands were looking at me to be their photographer. That's when I had to come clean about Lynn and I. Told her I wanted to spend as much time as I could with my new wife. So she let me. Just had to tell her when I came back."
"What I'm wondering is, how the fuck did you two keep this under wraps for a year?" Lisa asked coming up to them.
Andy chuckled, "Well during our six month honeymoon, some people would either recognize Lynn or myself. They would point at us and we would only try to get away from them, because we didn't know who they were. They could have been reporters trying to find a story, or maybe Vicki and Nicole hired them. We were scared."
"So that day we decided to hide our marriage and if anyone asked us why we were there, we would simply say vacation. We wore our wedding rings on our necklaces, and kept our heads down. We would go places asking for a table in the back, or just try to find places where there weren't many people around." Lynn explained.
"Okay, but how do you explain all of last year when you left?" Kim asked.
"That was hard. I actually got the call right after midnight during our New Years Eve camp out." Andy started to explain.
"Those letters I wrote to everyone, I wrote in advance, just in case I had to make a quick get away."
At this point everyone stopped talking and started to listen to Andy.
"Everyone was pretty drunk, but Lynn and myself. It was that night in our tent we discussed what we should do." Andy looked at Lynn.
"We both decided to lay low and not mention anything. We didn't want this blowing up. Like when people first found out about us. We wanted it to look like we broke up." Lynn said.
"But when you came back why didn't you two pick up where you left off?" Alex asked.
"That was the hard part. When I knew I was able to come back for Brian and Angel's wedding I called Lynn and told that we have to keep it low key. We didn't know if there was going to be anyone there that would plaster us all over the news. We didn't want to take anything away from Brian and Angel. We wanted to keep this a secret until it came close to October." Andy told them.
"Now, don't get us wrong we wanted to tell all of you, but we just wanted to be safe. That's why Andy and I just kind of ignored each other. It was part of the agreement we came up with on New Years Eve. We couldn't act the way we wanted to because we all know how sneaky the paparazzi could be. I mean yes, we were surrounded by our friends and family, but ever since that scandal with Nicole and Vicki, it scared us." Lynn said and Andy put her arm around her waist.
"So was introducing Lynn as your wife part of an act?" Ethan asked.
Andy shook her head, "Not at all. When some of my family members asked about the wedding, we told them the truth. How our parents were there and everything. We even told them about the formal one we were going to do and asked if they wanted to come. Only two said that they would be able to. And yes, also because Ashley was there, and I knew she would try and say something about wanting to get back together."
"This whole time you two have been planning your wedding?" Angel asked.
Lynn nodded, "You could say that. Andy would send me pictures from each state asking if I wanted to have the wedding here or there. I kept saying no. I wanted it to be somewhere that our families wouldn't have to travel too far. That's how we came up with Virginia Beach. It's kind of in the middle."
"Who's catering the wedding?" Brian asked.
Andy smiled, "My old job. I called in a favor. They're even having us rent out the entire restaurant for our engagement party slash rehearsal dinner. Also Antony is shutting down the restaurant day of the wedding so everyone can attend. He called me earlier today and just told the staff about the closing. But not why they are."
"You're kidding?!" Ethan said with wide eyes. Andy shook her head.
"So that's what you meant when you said it would be four days out of the year this year." He shook his head at his best friend and smiled.
"Andy! Did you pick out your maid of honor? What about the two bridesmaids, and groomsmen?" Angel asked.
"Wow you remembered," Andy said with a chuckle and then nodded, "Yeah, Ethan is my best man obviously. Wendy is going to by my maid of honor. Brittany and Kayla are going to be my bridesmaids, and my groomsmen are Addy, and Michael."
"What about you Lynn? Are you going to do the same?" Mark asked.
Lynn nodded, "Only I'll have an extra set. So, my maid of honor is Angel, best man is David. Of course I'm going to have my three guys as my groomsmen." She said looking between Brian, Alex, and Justin. They all smiled and gave her a hug.
"Lauren, Lisa, and Kim would you three be my bridesmaids?" She asked the three and they all nodded. They smiled and gave her a hug as well.
"Melissa will be officiating again. Kara and Erika are helping with the final preparations. Mark we were hoping you and Serenity could help with the decorations." Andy said looking at them and they nodded.
"Cam and Terry, we could use your help with setting up a few things at the reception." Lynn said looking at the two of them.
"We would love to be a part of this!" Cam said with a smile and Terry nodded.
"Shey's our photographer, and my mom even got the Filipino restaurant to help with some catering as well. So not only are we going to have Ynot food, there's also going to be Filipino food." Andy explained.
"YES! Oh my God I've missed Filipino food." Ethan said with a cheer and everyone laughed.
"Did you know you two were getting married on Andy's birthday?" Mark asked.
Andy sighed, "To be honest I forget my birthday every year. So when Lynn reminded me after we made it official. We checked the time stamp on the video and right at midnight Melissa started the small ceremony. I joked and said I will always forget my birthday but I won't forget our anniversary."
Everyone laughed and then a young woman came out of the kitchen and said that dinner would be ready shortly. Andy thanked her and she went back into the kitchen.
"What's this? Andy not cooking?" Kara joked as David put his arm around her.
"Yeah it's kind of weird not seeing you in the kitchen." Angel said with a smirk.
Andy let out a small soft chuckle, "Yeah, well Lynn and I kind of had this party planned out for about three months. She handled the decorations and I picked out an amazing catering company."
Wendy came up to Andy and Lynn giving her the phone, "She has to go but she wanted to say bye to you both." Andy excused herself and Lynn.
"Guys! They've already been married for a year! Andy's birthday marks two!" Angel said as she hit Brian's arm.
"By the way how are we going to do this whole bachelor bachelorette party? I mean we're Lynn's groomsmen. But they both have bridesmaids and groomsmen." Brian pointed out.
"Well let's ask them." Lisa said with a smile as Lynn and Andy returned. Andy gave Wendy her phone back and the couple looked at their friends.
"What's wrong?" Lynn asked.
"We were just wondering about this whole wedding party thing. Like are you two going to have a joint bachelor bachelorette and party? Plus the bridesmaid party? How is this going to work?" Lauren asked.
"Ah, well, we were thinking about having a joint party," Andy started and looked at Lynn.
"BUT, we decided that we'll switch it up. Meaning, I'll have a party with the groomsmen first, Andy will have a party with bridesmaids first. Then the next day we'll switch. Then two days before the wedding we'll have a huge party."
"So you're saying we're gonna have three days of straight up partying?" Ethan said with wide eyes.
"You bet your ass we are!" Andy said and Ethan rushed up to her and gave her another big hug. They let go of each other and Andy gave him a pat on his back.
"Hey does Michael know he's in the wedding party?" Ethan asked.
"Called him this morning he's ecstatic." Andy said with a smile.
"Andy's gonna play match maker with him and Hayley." Lynn said with a small laugh.
"No you're not!" Ethan said laughing.
"Oh I am. He has NO idea Hayley's going to be there. Zac and Taylor are going to be there too."
"So you said you're going to be there tomorrow?" Terry asked.
"Yeah, we actually have to catch a plane tonight after dinner. I rented out a small house until the day after my mom's birthday and then, I'll be officially living in Boston. With Lynn, in our home." Andy said with a smile.
"Wait, so you two will be living here?" Angel asked and the two nodded.
"I mean, we've had so many memories here and we can build a life here. The house in Georgia is more of a vacation home at this point and Brandon seems to be taking good care of it. Plus I want to keep up the traditions of summer vacations in Georgia and Florida." Andy smiled.
"When do you two officially move in together?" Terry asked.
"We kind of already did. Once we found out about Serenity buying this place for Andy. Her and I secretly started to move things in. My parents and Kara moved my things from my apartment to here. Andy had her stuff sent up from Virginia. We haven't fully settled in yet, but hopefully after Thanksgiving we will be." Lynn smiled and kissed Andy's cheek.
Angel shook her head, "I still feel like there's something you're not telling us though. Lynn there's something about you. It's like you're glowing, and it's not from being married. It's something else."
"Well, there is something else BUT, that will all be revealed soon. We promise." Lynn told her with a smile.
The young woman came out of the kitchen saying dinner was ready. Andy directed everyone to the dinning room table and Tim commented on how the table was extended. Andy laughed and told him that she miscounted at one point and needed to add an additional table. They all took their seats with Andy at the head of the table of course. Lynn at the other end of the table. Angel said that it wouldn't do. So she took Lynn's hand and brought her over so that she sat on Andy's right side.
"Well who's going to sit at the other end?" Andy asked. Everyone looked around and no one was getting up.
"Fine I'll do it, I guess," Ethan said with a wink at Andy and took the other seat at the end of the table. Alex moved his seat so that he was on Ethan's left side. Three people came out and started to serve them dinner. Andy complimented them on how amazing everything looked and smelled. Once everyone had full plates Andy stood up and raised her glass.
"Before we dig in, I wanted to say that I'm so happy all of you are here. Lynn and I can't wait to share this journey with you all. We are so sorry we kept most of you out of the loop, but we had our reasons. Thank you for being so understanding and we love all of you. Now I know all of you are hungry, enough talk let's eat!" Andy smiled and sat down. She took hold of Lynn's hand and kissed the back of it.
Lynn looked at her and leaned in, "I love you." She said softly.
"And I love you. More than words could say." Andy whispered. They gave each other a small kiss and let go of each other's hand so they could eat. Andy looked around and smiled. Tonight went better than she expected. Now they just had to get through another chaotic couple of weeks and everything will be just how she dreamed.
**********************************************************************************
Andy got out of her rental car and smiled looking up at the white and red sign. She smiled taking it all in. This place showed her just how much potential she had and it gave her so many amazing opportunities to grow. She hasn't seen her old coworkers in a long time.
She remembered the phone call she got from Antony asking if she just wanted to have a closed party instead of just limiting everyone to the back room. She was surprised at his offer and she asked if he was sure. He said he wouldn't mind it and they could close early just so everyone could be a part of it. She thanked him and said that it would be amazing to see everyone.
Now here she was standing in front of the place that helped build her up and guided her to where she is today. Lynn came up to her and took hold of her hand. She looked at her and smiled.
"I'll never forget the day I saw you and Ethan working through that busy day." Lynn said kissing her cheek.
Andy smiled, "I was so sore after Mary's I had to take an ice bath."
Lynn giggled, "I remember."
Andy looked at her watch and then looked around the parking lot, "Hayley said she would be here soon. I can't wait to see the look on Michael's face when he sees her." She leaned against the car and put her arm around her wife.
"What time does it start?" Lynn asked leaning into Andy.
"Six, I think. I'm not exactly sure what Antony told everyone. But I'm pretty sure he said something about a mandatory store meeting and that they would be closing at seven."
"What time is it?"
Andy looked at her watch again, "Close to five. My parents should be here any minute with the kids and my mom's family. After this I was thinking we all could go to Mary's and finish up at Rick's."
"Sounds like a plan to me. What about your cousins from Seattle? Or your family from Georgia?"
"They'll be here too. I just got a text from Uncle Chris about twenty minutes ago. He said he would be here around five thirty . Aunt Leslie will be here too. I'm so excited. Took some doing but I was able to get her to come. I think mom and dad picked her up from the airport. Along with my cousins. Katie and Crystal won't be here until tomorrow. But they will be able to be at the parties."
"So one secret is out, now we just have to tell them the other. When do you think we should?"
Andy thought for a moment and smiled, "Maybe at the reception. Put it in a speech. How did your parents take the other news?"
Lynn shrugged, "They were shocked at first, but excited. What about yours?"
Andy nodded, "About the same. Told them about the names and they got a little teary eyed. Other than that they can't wait."
They saw a truck pull up and Andy smiled with a shake of her head. Once the truck parked her old boss came walking up to them. He gave her a hug and then Lynn.
"It's good to see you. We've missed you around here." Antony said giving Andy a pat on her shoulder.
"I've missed y'all too. Do they know what's going on today?" She asked nodding towards the restaurant.
Antony smirked, "Not at all. I just told them I had to move up the store meeting because of every body's busy schedules with families coming into town early. But they know about a big catering event at six. They should be setting everything up."
"What about the closing early part?"
"Last week I heard a lot of grumbling about how we're closing at seven while the catering was going on, but upon your request I kept my mouth shut." He said still smirking. Andy heard her name being called and smiled when she saw who it was. Antony shook her hand saying he would see her inside. The couple watched him walk towards the restaurant, then they turned their attention to the trio that was coming towards them.
"Glad you found it." Andy said hugging Hayley as she came up to her. When they let go Andy hugged Zac and Taylor. Then they all hugged Lynn.
"Yeah, took us a second, didn't realize it was in a shopping center. Never really been to this part before." Taylor said with a smile.
"Well I hope you're hungry, I'm sure they're cooking up a storm in there." Andy said with a smile.
"So, am I meeting Michael today?" Hayley said with a glimmer in her eye.
Andy laughed and nodded, "Yeah, he's working today. I made sure of it. Just talked to Antony, they're going to be shutting down early so we could have the party."
"Well, why don't we go in and you can kind of show them around?" Lynn asked.
"Good idea, it's getting chilly, come on I'll show you three my old life." Andy said smiling taking Lynn's hand in hers.
They walked up to the front door and was greeted by a young teenage girl at the door. She informed them about them closing and Andy smiled telling her that's why they were there. She smiled and directed them to the back room. She told them to go ahead and she would join them in a few minutes. Hayley stayed back and asked Andy which one was Michael.
Andy motioned with her head over to where Michael was busy making a pizza.
"Oooo he's really cute! I can't wait to meet him." She smiled giving Andy's arm a gentle squeeze. She left Andy and went towards the back room. Andy took a step further inside and smiled at how the place hadn't changed much. She looked at the cook line she used to work and smiled seeing Cody and Trey. But there were two people she didn't know.
She looked over at where Michael was and saw Brendan right next to him. Then, saw Clint checking the ovens and calling out numbers. She looked around and saw Susanna and Becca rushing back and forth between the dinning room and the line window. She smiled when she saw Julia. She couldn't believe they were all still there.
Everyone else was knew to her. She decided to walk over to the front of the pie bench and just watch Michael and Brendan. She watched them for a few moments and decided to make her presence known.
"I know you're busy, but what's your secret to making a great pizza?" Andy said with a smile.
"It's all about the dough and how it's made. Next to me we actually had some one a while ago that made the best dough, she was--" He finally looked and saw Andy smiling at him.
"She was what?" Andy asked still smiling.
"What are you doing here?!" He said smiling. He dropped the pizza sauce ladle and ran around the front counter, rushing up to her, nearly knocking her over to wrap his arms around her. She laughed and returned the hug. They held each other for a while and he let go of her.
"I thought I wasn't going to see you for another couple of days."
Andy shrugged, "I'm with the party tonight."
He squinted his eyes, "Ah, you're the one that caused this chaos."
"You could say that, I gotta get to the back, but when you get a second I got someone I want you to meet."
"Okay, well we're closing early, Antony wanted to do our store meeting early. Anyway, let me get back to it." He gave her a quick hug and ran back around the counter. Andy smiled and started to walk towards the backroom. She had a surprised look seeing Brandon there.
She walked up to him and gave him a hug, "I thought you were coming with Chris." Even though she offered for him to come back with them. He had to stay and get everything settled at his restaurant before he could leave.
They pulled away from each other and he smiled, "I just took a flight instead. Figured it would save him the hassle. Lot of new ones here huh?"
Andy nodded, "Yeah, but glad to see some of the old crew."
"You recovered quickly though. You seem to be walking alright. How's the pain?"
She shrugged, "Keeps me up at night. But I'm gonna hit up that natural remedy place see if they have a tea or something. I'm tired of taking ibuprofen and Advil."
"I hear ya. I'll check it out with you. Think I'll get Brittany something."
The two continued to talk as people started to show up. Andy smiled seeing her younger siblings rush up to her nearly knocking her over. She laughed and gave them all a kiss and a hug. She smiled seeing the rest of her family. Everyone was gathered around and Anthony said that they started to close the restaurant down and everything would begin shortly. Andy offered to help and he smiled and waved his hand for her to follow him.
He took her to the line and watched as the four people were rushing around doing the closing procedures she knew all to well. Antony gave her a pat on the back and told her to join in. She smiled and walked up to Trey.
"Who's doing the walkthrough?" She asked.
"I think Sara said she was-" He looked up and his eyes went wide.
"HOLY SHIT!" He said and engulfed her in a tight hug. She laughed and hugged him back. Cody looked up and saw the pair. He smiled and walked over to them. When they let go of each other it was Cody's turn to give her a tight hug.
"We've missed you sunshine." The big guy said letting of her but keeping his hands on her arms and she did the same.
"I've missed y'all too. Now what can I do to help?" She smiled and he led her towards the back.
The closing procedures were done in record time. While the staff was closing up, Antony was helping set everything up for the party. They brought everything from the back room towards the main dinning area.
When everything was said and done Antony asked for everyone to join the party. The staff looked confused but Andy smiled walking up to Lynn taking her hand in hers. When everyone was gathered around Andy cleared her throat and began to speak.
"For those of you who don't know me I'm Andy I used to work here for five years. This place holds a place in my heart. It's taught me a lot and has given me an opportunity to grow. I want to say thank you all for your hard work for making all this food. It looks amazing and to be honest I've missed it." She chuckled as well as everyone else.
"But I do have an announcement to make. For those that know already I'm sorry for the repeat, but for those that don't, I'll make it short." She smiled looking at everyone.
"First, I want to apologize to most of my family for not telling you all of this, and to my friends here." She took a deep breath and Lynn held her hand tightly.
"Lynn and I got married in two thousand eighteen. We are having the formal ceremony here in Virginia Beach. With the reception following at Peabody's. Now let us explain everything." Andy said.
She and Lynn explained everything all over again to everyone. Andy smiled seeing almost everyone's shocked faces. After they explained everything they were greeted with hugs and everyone saying congratulations.
Andy found her way to Michael and he smiled, "I'm so happy for you and thank you for letting be a part of your wedding."
"Well, it was you that got me through five years here. You taught me so much and I had to include you some how."
"Where's Ethan? I'd thought he'd be here."
"Oh, he and Alex are gonna be here in a couple of days. Along with Brian, Angel, and Justin. Some of Lynn's family are coming around the same time. Gonna be a hectic twelve days." She looked around and saw Hayley.
"Hey, come on, I want to introduce to someone." She gave him a pat on his shoulder and he followed her. Andy was stopped a few times with people telling her congratulations, and she would thank them. She smiled as she finally reached Hayley.
Before she got her attention she looked at Michael, "Don't say I never did anything for you." She tapped Hayley's shoulder and her friend turned around.
"Hayley Williams, this is Michael Reyes." She said with a smile.
"Hi Michael, it's nice to FINALLY meet you. Andy's told me so much about you." She said holding out her hand for him to shake.
Michael looked between Andy and Hayley as if he couldn't believe his eyes, "You're, you're, you're..." was all he could get out.
Andy patted both of them on their shoulders, "Get to know each other. I'll be around." She started to leave but Michael grabbed her arm.
"Wait, wait, wait," He said stepping close to her. "That's Hayley. THE Hayley."
Andy slowly nodded, "Yeah, I know."
"How do you know her?!"
"I was their tour photographer. You liked a few of my posts on social media."
"I thought it was just one show! What do I say to her?!"
Andy turned to fully take in her friend, "Michael you're one of my closest friends. Just be yourself. The entire tour I talked you up. Now just go have a conversation with her and see where it goes. How many times have you talked to me about how much you wanted to meet her? All the things you wanted to say?" She took a step closer to him.
"How many times have you told me you wanted to tell her exactly how you much her songs brought you out of your dark times? Or how you just wanted to sit down and just have at least one conversation with her?"
Michael smiled, "Same with you and Lynn. The times you talked about her and PVRIS. Thank you. I owe you big time."
She chucked, "Now stop talking to me and go get your dream woman!" He gave her a tight hug and took the few steps over to Hayley.
"Can we start over?" He asked, and she nodded.
"Hi, I'm Michael a friend of Andy's." He held out his hand for her to shake.
"Nice to meet you Michael. I'm Hayley a friend of both the brides." She said smiling shaking his hand. "So tell me about yourself."
Andy smiled and walked over to Lynn. She gave her a kiss on her cheek and the both watched the two.
"You're such a romantic." Lynn teased.
Andy shrugged and let out a happy sigh, "What can I say, I'm a sap."
"These next few days are going to be crazy. I'm actually glad we got married on the beach with just our parents and Melissa to avoid all of this. But I'm also glad we get to share with our family and friends."
Andy turned to face her fully and took both of her hands, "I never said how sorry I am for putting a lot of the wedding planning on you. I wish I could have been there for you more. I'm so sorry."
Lynn smiled and gently touched her cheek, "Baby, it's okay. I told you to take the opportunity. I didn't want to stand in the way of something you love. I still won't stand in your way. Like we said on the beach, we're going to bring each other up, not down." She took a step closer to her and put her hand on Andy's chest right where her heart is.
"I fell in love with you and your big heart. Remember what you told me a couple of years ago?"
Andy thought for a moment trying to remember what she said. Then it dawned on her, "I got on this ride with you, This, crazy roller coaster ride. I don't think I'm getting off any time soon."
Lynn smiled and took a step closer to her. Andy put hand over Lynn's that was still over her heart, "This is a long ride and I plan on riding this roller coaster with you forever."
"Now look, who knows what to say." Andy said softly.
Lynn shook her head, "You still have me beat in that department. I love you. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you. Start a family with you. Our journey has just begun and I can't wait to see what this crazy adventure holds."
Andy smiled looking at the woman she fell in love with, "I never expected this. You and I. A star struck fan and a lead singer of a band falling in love. It's so rare, and yet we don't see each other like that. We see each other for who we are and who we will be. I love you. I'm so happy you're the one I want to share my life with."
They leaned in and their lips met softly. Just like many times before the world stood still and it was just them. Nothing else mattered in the world. It seemed to disappear all around them whenever they were together. They could be in a crowded room and still find each other.
They finally pulled away from each other and was met with cheers from their friends and family. Andy pulled Lynn close and kissed her cheek. Even though they had twelve crazy days they knew they would make it. Just like many times before. They couldn't wait to share their lives together and start a whole new adventure.
They saw a flash of light and turned seeing Shey there smiling. Andy smiled at her one of her best friends.
"Hey! I thought we wouldn't be seeing you until tomorrow." Andy said giving her a hug. Then it was Lynn's turn.
"I wanted to surprise you. Plus I have a message from Angel." Shey said.
"Is everything okay?" Lynn asked looking concerned.
Shey smirked and nodded, "Yeah, she just wants to know if it was you two that sneaked off during her wedding to have a little quickie in the supply closet at her and Brian's reception."
Both Andy and Lynn's cheeks went red. Lynn put her hand over her mouth and Andy could feel her heart start to race.
"By the looks on your faces, that gives me the answer." She smirked again and took a quick picture with her cell phone and quickly sent it to Angel. She walked away and started to take pictures with her camera.
Lynn hit Andy on her arm, "I thought no one would hear us! Did someone follow you?!"
"I don't know! I mean you were kinda loud." Andy said with a chuckle.
"Oh God! Andrea!" Lynn said hitting Andy's arm, and turning a darker shade of red.
