"How'd it go?" Carrie asked curiously as they grabbed something to eat in the hospital's cafeteria.
"One of your more brilliant ideas, I have to say," Kelly frowned.
"I'm sorry, Kell, I really thought it'd help," she replied, placing a hand on her back.
"It's fine," she moved away from her.
"Are you mad at me? Because seriously, I was only trying to help."
"I'm not mad at you," she shook her head. "It was just hard, and it sucked seeing him like that, and listening to what he said...right now is just one of those times that if you're touching me, we need to be alone because I am seriously close to breaking down."
"You want to stay at my place tonight?"
Kelly nodded, picking at her food.

"So, we also thought that it was time we started getting the plans for the concert set and finalize the date and everything," Michael explained as the three of them sat in his office. "So, we were thinking of the end of August."
"My album's coming out the end of August," Kelly replied.
"Beginning of September?"
Kelly turned to Carrie who nodded before turning back to him, "Yea, sounds good."
"And, we definitely want it on a Saturday, that way kids won't be in school or anything."
"How about the sixth?" Carrie suggested, looking at the calendar on her phone.
"The sixth..." Michael searched his computer. "Yea, that looks like it's going to work. Is that going to leave you enough time for rehearsals along with your album stuff, Kelly?"
"Um, yea, it shouldn't be a problem," she nodded.
"What about if we can add in a couple talk show dates with the two of you together? Do you think you'll be able to manage that?"
"Yea, as long as you give me the dates in enough of an advance so I can get them to my manager."
"Carrie?"
"Same thing," Carrie agreed.
"Very good," Michael nodded, searching over the bulletpoints on the paper before him, "Well, I think that's everything we were supposed to cover on the business aspect of it...there is something I wanted to ask you, Carrie."
"Ok?" she asked, glancing at Kelly out of the corner of her eye. Her mind seemed to be some place else, probably back to Luke's hospital room, going over whatever happened in there earlier.
He smiled at her, "There is a meeting coming up this weekend with an animal rights group. They want to discuss our research methods and stuff, and I was wondering if you would like to go to it because I know that you're on both sides of the spectrum in that you are really big into animal rights, and you've seen the positive outcomes of the treatments we have developed."
"Yea," Carrie nodded. "It actually sounds really interesting."
"And, well, I was also wondering if maybe you'd like to have dinner with me afterwards."
Kelly's eyes shot up, glaring at him, although he didn't seem to notice.
"Y-you mean like a date?" Carrie asked.
"Um, well, yes, kinda, I mean, you aren't dating anybody right now, are you?"
"Well..." Carrie frowned, not knowing how to answer that. "No, not exactly."
"So, you'll go?" his eyes lit up.
"Um, sure?"
"Great," he smiled, standing, both idols followed suit. "I'll just give you a call with the details."
"Ok," she nodded, following Kelly out of the door.

"Hey," Carrie smiled nervously as she walked into the bedroom where Kelly was seated, ready to go to sleep.
"Hey," Kelly replied, turning off the lamp and laying down, facing away from Carrie as she as crawled into bed.
"Kell..." Carrie frowned, lying right behind her and placing and arm around her. "Please don't be mad."
"I'm not mad. It's just been a long day."
"Yes, you are mad, but what was I supposed to tell him?"
"Nothing. You did exactly what you were supposed to," Kelly replied tensely.
"Baby," Carrie whispered, kissing just behind her ear.
"Care, please don't," Kelly wiggled away from her.
Carrie sighed, turning onto her back, "What do you want me to do? Do you want me to call him tomorrow and cancel? Because I will."
"No," Kelly took a calming breath. "You should go. The meeting sounds like something that you'd really be interested in."
"I don't care about that. I just don't want you to be mad at me."
"I'm gonna be mad at you from time to time, Care, just like you will be me. That's just life."
"Well, I don't like life."
Kelly let out a short laugh.
"Come lay with me."
Kelly sighed, scooting back over to where she was right next to the country singer.
Carrie smiled, pushing herself up and kissing her. She felt Kelly's hand intertwining in her hair, pulling her down to deepen the kiss. Carrie slid fully on top of her, one of her legs falling in between the Texan's. She heard a throaty moan from the girl beneath her as her hand slipped under her Texas t-shirt. Carrie's leg pushed up into her as her hand slipped under her bra.
Kelly quickly pushed the taller girl off of her.
"Kell?" Carrie struggled for air.
"You're going on a date," Kelly replied, exasperatedly.
"You just told me to," Carrie pointed out.
"I know what I said, I just...I don't know, ok? I don't know anymore."
"Don't know what?"
"I think we should get some sleep," Kelly said, her voice careful.
"But--"
"Night, Care."
"Night," Carrie sighed.

Carrie woke up, stretching. Her heart dropped at the sight of the other side of the bed being empty. She turned to the bedside table, reaching for the note that she knew would be there. If nothing else, she was grateful, the Texan had manners.
