The Island
The boys are like two water creatures in this place without a name. Crafted by cloud shaded sun, and brine, and the foam of the tide.
They are the antithesis of one another.
The elder is smaller, slender. He has shed the child flesh from his frame like a snake sheds its skin, revealing long bones and lean muscle. His face is exotic in a delicately feral way, as if he were some fey creature from the ocean they’ve been playing in all day.
The other is taller, if only slightly, and more strongly built. He still bears some of the softness of childhood, smooth cheeks, a mouth that seems to always be moments from a smile, and wide eyes framed by thick lashes through which he casts discreet glances across the sand at the boy next to him who stares out at the sea as if in contemplation.
A mechanical whirring, out of place among the breaking of the waves and the call of shore birds, distracts the younger boy, and he squints his eyes against the grey light of the sun, sees the camera out of the corner of his eye. The flash momentarily blinds him, but he grins, and rising, brushes the sand from his legs before taking off down the shore.
Blinking, the older boy turns from the ocean, spares a cursory glance at the camera, before rising and following after his friend.
At the waterline the sand is smooth as glass beneath their feet, but when the tide catches their ankles it seems to suck at them like quicksand, and they push themselves harder to escape, laughing and kicking up water.
By the time they stop to rest, they are alone on the shoreline, the figures of people in the distance barely dots on the horizon.
Thinking they should head back, the older boy turns but is halted by fingers circling his wrist, by dark eyes and a smiling mouth.
“I want to show you something.”
He allows himself to be led further along the beach, over a rise of sand dunes, and down into a small water valley.
There is a separation of land in the valley, what seems like a tiny, rocky island afloat in the cove of small cliffs that make up part of the mainland. Only a slender jetty of sand that disappears when the tide rises connects it to the rest of the beach. There are scalloped shells, and sand dollars, and broken pieces of mother of pearl lodged in the sand, and they are careful to step around them as they cross, the older boys wrist still in the grasp of the other.
They slip though the opening between two enormous rocks wet with sea mist; find themselves in a circle of wet stone and smooth sand that is spotted with tide pools in which swim various species of underwater life. Along the undersides of the stones, where everything remains shady and moist, are garlands of pink barnacles closed to the air and the infringing light.
The older boy runs a finger across the side of one, it comes off in his hand, and he drops it into one of the tide pools. His friend tugs at his hand, “Look up.”
He does and thinks it must be like looking at the world through a microscope, all focus placed entirely on one small section of life.
The rocks rise up on all sides, and above them, on the mainland cliffs, the overhangs of trees can be seen, creating a half circle of green curtain not far above their heads, and through their limbs, are the grey of the sky and the half hidden sun.
The sea wind whips through the rock opening, brushes across their skin, rises above their heads. It shakes the limbs of the trees, sending a few small anonymous leaves falling down around them, catching on the rocks, sinking in the tide pools.
They share twin smiles and small conversation before the older boy pushes himself away from the stone he has been leaning against with the intent to take his friend and head back, for people are probably missing them by now.
He is stopped once again by fingers, cooled by mist and wind, on his wrist, and dark eyes that have grown shadowed, and that sweet mouth. Something passes between them in this sea quiet haven, something that needs no words.
The younger boy leans forward without thought, intending to press his lips full to his friend’s mouth, but catches only half of it. The skin is as soft as he had imagined. He imagines the taste of salt, and sun, and water, and dares to touch the tip of his tongue to that tender flesh.
A gasp escapes into the shallow space between their mouths, and he starts to draw back, only to halt at the feel of a finger sliding down his face, at the lips on his moving softly in response, the wetness of a tongue returning his hesitant exploration, and it seems they are melting, or flowing against one another, pushed by their own tides.
Then it is over and they are watching each other with eyes that are wide with fear or excitement.
“We should get back,” say two voices in unison.
The tension is broken with laughter and they slip from the alcove, cross the jetty that is just beginning to disappear beneath the rising water, and head back toward those small dots on the horizon.
The older one leads the way this time, the younger one following only a few steps behind, one hand raised to his mouth, fingers touching his lips, holding onto that water kiss.

Kyo slinked across the floor as though he were performing before the awed faces of a thousand screaming fans rather than the characterless walls of the practice room and the too bright fluorescent lights. He gasped, he screamed, he moaned, clutching the microphone to him like a long lost lover.
Toshiya, running his fingers across his base, cast a heavy lidded look at the other band members all concentrating on their portions of the music, bounded up behind the unaware vocalist, and gave a swift, light lick across the side of his neck.
Feedback resounded through the speakers as Kyo shrunk in on himself and pulled away, the lyrics falling from his mouth skewered by a surprised “Ack.” The drumbeat stopped, the guitar strains faltered, faded, died.
“Toshiya!” He swiped a hand across his neck as the bassist giggled and bounced back to his original position. “We didn’t rehearse that.”
“I know. I’m putting it in.”
“All right…” Kaoru’s voice broke in. “I think we’ve got it, aside from the occasional…” he shot his gaze to Toshiya, “…fuck up… You guys can go. I’ll see you in a week.”
The taller man attempted a pout, which melted into a catty grin, and wriggled his fingers before turning with a snap of his hip and heading toward his belongings. “Matane.”
The ambiance broken, the studio fell quiet except for the sounds of instruments being stored, of papers being rustled, of quiet conversation.
Guitar put away Kaoru disappeared through a side door that led to the office room they used for meetings, or composing, or spur of the moment post-celebration sleepovers when they were too drunk to go home.
Die, attempting to store his own guitar watched him go, didn’t register the person slipping up behind him until he felt the tap on his shoulder. A puff of blond hair stood at his elbow, the eyes underneath fixing him with a harassed stare.
“The last time I saw a look like that was when Shinya left his puppy at the kennel for a week. You haven’t asked him yet, have you?”
He sighed.
“Die…”
“I can’t figure out how to do it.”
“Those tickets are burning a hole in your pocket… You’ve been friends for how long? Just ask him point blank if he wants to go.” He paused, scratched the side of his nose. “Or you could always forget the lollygagging around and just get straight to the point with ‘Hey Kao, wanna fuck?’”
Die’s hand connected with the back of the blonde head before he realized he’d raised his arm.
Kyo rubbed the injured spot, pouting, light glinting off the silver in his lips. “Bitch…”
Die snorted, finished packing his things away.
Kyo turned his head, pout faltering as his gaze fell somewhere behind Die, drawn by the shuffle and clank of slender hands putting away the rest of a drum set.
He watched as Shinya blew a fringe of hair out of his eyes, bottom lip jutting out in, even he had to admit, an adorable way. He touched his tongue to one of the silver piercings, drew it back into his mouth, before turning and giving Die a long suffering look.
“You know I’d love to stay and help smooth out your sex life…but I’ve got a few things of my own that need smoothing.” He clasped the redhead on the shoulder in a silent gesture for “Good luck,” turned and made his way across the bare floor. His movements were slow, pointed, faintly predatory.
Shinya glanced up from the snare he was packing when he heard footsteps drawing closer, his dark eyes widened behind the veil of his hair. He glanced around, tucked the snare away, threw his bag over his shoulder and hurried from the room.
Grinning to himself, Kyo grabbed his own bag and slipped out the door before it had time to shut.
Snorting lightly Die gave one more look toward the light falling from the side door, said an internal ‘fuck it,’ reached for his pack of cigarettes and as an afterthought, the journal in his bag, and headed out onto the fire escape.
The city sprawled out beneath him, pin points of light in all shades swimming in his vision, like some fluorescent sea, heading all they way out to the black night’s horizon. He wasn’t sure he could figure out where the city lights ended and where the stars began.
Cigarette between his lips, he pulled out matches, filled the night with the scent of sulphur, and devoured smoke like a man saved from drowning devours air.
He leaned back against the wall, propped a booted foot up on the railing, balanced the journal on his thigh.
It was a nostalgic piece of work; Kaoru had given it to him for his last birthday. A basic journal in most respects, but the cover of it was done like a scrapbook, pieces cut out and pictures inserted. He and Kaoru backstage at their first concert, the entire group clowning at Kyo’s birthday party the previous year, the vocalist wearing a shimmering cone party hat, cake smeared across his lips. He and Kaoru drinking at a club, wrestling on the sofa in the practice room.
He turned the journal over. On the back was the largest picture, filling almost the entire cover. It had been taken thirteen years earlier, with a black and white camera, on a long stretch of shore.
He and Kaoru sat near the water’s edge, the tide frothing up around their ankles. He sat nearer the photographer, his face turned at a slight angle, eyes sighting the camera from their corners. Kaoru faced the sea, head slightly bowed, lips parted slightly, eternally taking in the scent of the sea and the sand and the innocence of youthful summer.
They’d spent two weeks by the seaside with Die’s parents, reveling in the rhythm of the tides, in the winds that blew in from the ocean and chapped their lips and left the taste of brine on their skin.
Die slid his fingers over the picture, flipped the journal open. He skimmed past scribbles and doodles, random lyrics and notes that marred the smooth vellum. He paused on pages, skimming the words that were written there.
Lately, everything comes back to him.
I’ve been in love with him since I was fourteen years old.
He shook his head slightly, smiling around the cigarette, moved on to another entry.
You can call our meeting whatever you want, chance or coincidence. I call it fate. And I know because I got that feeling. That same feeling I got when Kisaki quit and we kidnapped Toshiya and harangued him into being our bassist; when we got the call from Yoshiki-san while we were still high from the last live we’d played.
That feeling that’s like standing on the shoreline as the tide rises and crashes against your legs, and you’re not sure if you’ll stay standing or fall into the water. Only it’s all inside you, inside your head, battering against your skull.
And when I saw him for the first time the waves bowled me over.
He exhaled smoke, knocked the ash off the end of his cigarette and looked out over the sea of city lights. In the curiously colored shadows seeing the face of the boy again. The delicate curve of his cheek, the sweep of his eyelashes, the sweet fullness of his mouth.
He’d been in awe at first sight of the new boy who dressed in sleek clothes, who had a shock of hair that fell in a braid between his shoulders, who read music mags with exotic rockers on the cover, some of whom he could’ve given a run for their money, who smoked cloves behind the cafeteria after school.
He’d thought his shyness around girls at that age was bad, but with this boy it was monumental. He actually hid when he saw him coming toward him down a hallway, ducking into empty classrooms, sometimes surprising couples who had stolen away for a few moments alone, because he knew he would be caught staring and then have to explain himself.
As it turned out, that had happened anyway, as he sat in the library one grey afternoon, listening to some foreign punk band’s music pouring through his headphones.
The touch on his shoulder at first was light, so light that he didn’t notice it, but then a finger stroked down the side of his neck and he’d turned and nearly fallen off his chair when he recognized the face inches behind his own.
“What are you listening to?” The boy had asked, one eyebrow quirked.
Somehow he’d managed not to stutter on his answer, “The Sex Pistols.”
The boy’s face had lit up in recognition and he’d slid into the seat next to him, piling his things on the table, and somehow they’d wound up in a discussion on punk rock, and instruments and song writing that lasted until the afternoon bell rang and they realized they’d missed their last class of the day, and that outside the rain had begun falling in silver sheets.
And just like that it had happened.
They’d gone from being completely unknown to one another to the closest of confidantes
Yet…with Die always holding back, always hiding a part of himself away.
A kiss shared. I can still taste him, to this day
And I’m not even sure if he remembers it…
Die started as the journal fell from its perch, landed with a teeth-jarring rattle, page down on the latticework of the fire escape. He stooped and retrieved it, brushing the pages clean.
He drew once more on the cigarette, sent it sailing over the railing with a practiced flick of his fingers, gave one last look to the wavering city lights, turned and went inside.
The room was filled with that eerie silence that places take on when they’ve recently been filled with life, with laughter. Somewhere overhead a bulb hummed dully, flickered, went dim. The light cutting across the floor from the office seemed warm and inviting in comparison with the harsh fluorescent bulbs of the practice area.
Die slipped over to the doorway, taking light steps so as not to disturb whatever goings on were occurring in the room. He poked his head around the frame.
Across from the door, near the back wall was a desk on which sat various notebooks and papers, and a tall lamp with its head angled so the light fell across the desk’s center.
The warm yellow skittered over the various objects, fell over the head resting on a cushion of folders, slid over the wine dark hair and lost itself somewhere among the strands. One hand lay next to the half obscured face, fingers curled loosely around an ink pen. Nearby, papers stirred slightly with his sleeping breaths.
Die’s face softened and he entered the room silently, passing through the light, took careful perch on a clear spot on the desk. Kaoru had been pushing himself these past few weeks, trying to get everyone ready for the next tour…and that was not an easy task.
Especially not with band mates like us.
Die reached out, brushed his fingers lightly over the fine hairs that curved over Kaoru’s cheek. The elder’s nose twitched as the hair brushed against the sensitive underside and one lid ventured open, the eye rolling upward, staring at Die through a gauze of brown and violet. He shot up straight in the chair, upsetting the hand that had come to rest on the back of his head, sat blinking into the light.
Die snickered and Kaoru gave him a cursory glance from the side of his eye, one brow slightly elevated.
The redhead reached out and removed the sheet of lyrics that had stuck to his cheek when he sat up.
“Oh-Leader-Sama is intent on following in Yoshiki-san’s overworked footsteps, eh?”
“He works because he likes to,” Kaoru said, stifling a yawn and brushing a hand over his eyes, “and so do I.”
“Hn. Yes, but even though you like something doesn’t mean you can’t overdo it.”
Kaoru eyed him. “Since when did you become so astute?”
Die clutched his chest, fell back across the desk, sending loose papers sailing to the floor. “Ach, you wound me, Kao-kao.”
Kaoru prodded his hip. “Get off. You’re screwing up my files.”
Some loaded words, there, Kao . Die shook himself, hopped off the desk, pulled the chair Kaoru sat in away from the wood, spun it around. “Come on, now. Seriously. I have a proposition for you.”
Both eyebrows rose this time.
“Not that kind of proposition.” Not yet, at any rate . “…And people accuse me of having my mind in the gutter all the time.”
“That’s because it is,” Kaoru said, motioning to the buxom animated image across Die’s shirtfront.
Die waved away the accusation, reached into his back pocket and pulled out two rectangular slips, brandished them in front of Kaoru’s eyes.
“Train tickets?” His brow furrowed.
“Hai, oh-Leader-sama. How does a beach vacation sound? Reservations at a four star hotel?”
Kaoru shook his head, colored strands falling over his eyes. “Die, there’s way too much to do for me to be taking time off to traipse along some beach.”
“What about this week long furlough, Kao?”
The older man turned back to the desk, began straightening the piles Die had knocked out of order. “That was for you guys. I wanted everyone to be well rested before we started the tour. And anyway there’s still some designing to plan, hotels to book—“
“Things to go, places to meet, people to do…” Die waved a hand, “Kao we should all be rested and ready for this tour, and if you’re here all by yourself plowing through organization, that’s not going to happen. Let some of the gofers take care of it, and we’ll do the rest when we come back.” He leaned his hips against the desks edge, watching the other man’s face.
Kaoru’s lips were pursed slightly as he regarded a reservation slip. The hollows under his eyes seemed a little deeper than they had during the practice, a little more shadow filled. The promise of a break, of a place somewhere, anywherethat wasn’t here, was just a little too tempting to be ignored.
He sighed, flicked the slip across the desk and leaned back in his chair. “…You’re right. I’ll go.”
Die’s grin nearly split his face in two. “Great. Oh, and Kao…”
“Hm?”
Die raised his thumb to his lips, slid the pad into his mouth, brought it to Kaoru’s cheek and rubbed thoroughly. “You’ve got a line of lyrics across your face.”
“Ach!”

The door opened on a hotel room of Western styling that maintained only a faint flavor of the East, in the guise of furniture shape and in the colors and intricacies of the patterns that flowed along the carpeting, the wallpaper
Directly across from the door thick curtains rained down from the wall. Kaoru strode over to them, flung them backwith both hands revealing glass doors that led out onto a simple terrace. Beyond the metal work of the rails could be seen white sand and the blue green line of the ocean.
Behind him, Die shuffled through the door with their bags, sat them out of the way near the dresser, and both men turned to regard the room.
“There’s only one bed,” Kaoru said, motioning toward the low rising cherry wood structure centered on the left wall.
“Eh? There were supposed to be two, it was in the brochure.” Die paused, shrugged. “I can take the couch…”
“No, no. It’s fine. We’ve shared a bed before, ne?” Kaoru said, offering a smile.
“True…but that was before we made it big and had girls falling all over themselves at the very idea of fan service…”
“Well,” Kaoru said, grabbing his bag and pulling out random articles of clothing, “It’s the off season. We’ll just have to hope no fans get wind of our being here and decide to come traipsing around the windows of our room.”
Die smoothed his hair, smiled, said, “Well, all right. …You don’t still kick in your sleep, do you,” and was promptly hit in the face with a pillow.

Thirteen years hadn’t changed the landscape, the white foamed waves, the smoothness of the sand, or the gleam of sea bathed rocks.
Yet they looked different to him. Perhaps it was his perception that had changed, perhaps something had been lost between then and now. Some innocence. The way he saw the grey light of the sun. These things used to be so vivid.
Now they were like a remembered dream, faintly grey at the edges.
But still he remembered. Two boys like water creatures. Sea soaked and sun warmed and happy.
He breathed in, took salt and water molecules into his lungs, felt the sting of the brine in the delicate tissues of his body, pickling his brain. He saw Die do the same, savoring the sea, the feel of the wind on his skin.
Their weeklong break had disappeared amid movies, and drinking, and dining, and beach lounging. This was their last day here. Tomorrow the train would take them back to city lights, and friends, and music. They had to enjoy these last moments. It might be months before they were able to do this again; after all it had been years the last time.
They walked along the shoreline in late afternoon, wearing only shorts, letting the waves splash over their bare feet like they had years before, talking only of present things.
“Die?”
“Hm?”
“I have to ask you something…”
“Aa—sure go ahead.”
“What is it with Shinya, lately?”
Die exhaled, slight laughter covering up the tense breath. “Oh, he’s being hunted.”
“What?”
He didn’t have to look at his friend to know the lines between his brow were there, or that his eyes were crinkled in that way that made him look curious and worried and naive all at once. “He’s being hunted,” he said again, “by our own warumono.”
“…That does explain it.” Kaoru shook his head, smiled.
”What do you think?”
“About them?” Kaoru asked. Die nodded. “Well…I think if Kyo can manage to get underneath that silent exterior without getting injured it will be a miracle. He’s not exactly one for subtleties.”
Die snorted. “No kidding…”
Silence fell again, broken only by the waves, the sound of their feet on the packed sand.
The sun was slowly beginning its descent toward the ocean when Kaoru glanced up and saw the dunes. He cut a path in front of Die, who paused, saw where his friend was headed and followed behind.
The loose sand was still vaguely hot on their feet as they slid down the other side of the embankment. Down into the water valley.
There was the jetty, and the rock island, and the mainland cliffs.
“Remember this place…” Kaoru asked, though it was more statement than question.
“Yes.” Of course I do .
Die watched as Kaoru stepped carefully onto the sand bank, avoiding the sea life that rested there, disappeared through the space between the rocks.
Die wavered for a moment before following.
In the stone circle tide pools still existed, framed by sea salad. The barnacles on the rock’s underbellies had gone from pink to violet. They were open to the gradually settling night and the tide that was trickling in through the crevices of the stone.
Kaoru touched one; it shuddered and retracted from his hand.
“Still looks the same, doesn’t it?” Die asked.
“Hn. The view above has changed.” Kaoru said, raising his eyes to the sky. Die followed his gaze.
The trees that had once hung their branches over the circle were gone, removed by hands or gales.
The open circle of grey sky was all they saw.
Kaoru stood, leaned his back against stone. They watched one another.
Die felt a twinge of déjà vu along his spine and the back of his neck, he rubbed it away. “Kao…I…”
Before he could gather his words, he felt the warmth of a body collide with his own, naked chest pressed against his, soft lips over his own, a tongue caressing, sliding under the fullness of his bottom lip, flicking over the corners of his mouth.
He opened to the invasion reflexively. Stood as still as the rocks around him when Kaoru pulled back.
“Kao?”
“I figured if I waited for you to do it, it would never happen.” He raised his brows. “It’s what you brought me here for, isn’t it?”
“Aa—Yes. I mean, no—I mean…” Die blinked. “More than that, Kao.”
“Oh really?”
Die felt his face growing hot. “Not that… Well, at least, not only that,” he said, glancing at Kaoru’s eyes. “I needed to tell you that…I love you.”
“I know.”
“What?”
That soft smile. “Die, we’ve been friends for how long? You wear most every thing on your face, and what you don’t, is in your eyes. Others might not be able to see it. But I can...”
“And…”
Kaoru looked at him levelly, for such a long moment that Die nearly dropped his gaze to the sand. “And, I love you too.”
Die’s trademark grin broke across his face and he wrapped his arms soundly around the smaller man, nuzzling into his hair.
“Why’d it take you so long to ask me to come here?”
”What?” Die’s voice was slightly muffled.
“Kyo has been dropping hints for the last few weeks…”
Die pulled back until he could see Kaoru’s face. “I thought you caved too easily……I’m going to kill him.”
Kaoru grinned. “Leave it. I’m sure Shinya will take care of it for you. And then some.”
~§§§~
It was dark by the time they returned to the hotel. The sun having sank into the ocean, minutes before, leaving behind only a red and violet streaked skyline that reflected on the water’s surface.
They stumbled into their room, sliding hands along the wall in a tactile exploration for light switches. Die kicked the door shut behind them, obliterating the light completely. He could barely make out Kaoru’s silhouette in the faint moonlight.
Die crept toward him, wrapped his arms around the shorter man’s waist, pulling him tight against his body, heard him sigh, a sound perfect for the darkened room. He kissed the side of his neck, beneath the fall of soft hair, ran one hand up the length of his chest, over his throat and chin. His fingers found Kaoru’s lips, stroked the textured flesh that was free from all artifice and paint.
A quick, wet heat touched the tip of his forefinger, followed by a cooling current, then more wet teasing.
Die gasped when two fingers were pulled into the warmth of Kaoru’s mouth. The older man’s tongue laving against the sensitive underside of them, skimming delicately over the calluses, rolling around the tip, pulling hard and easing up in succession.
Die shuddered, the sensations attacking his finger finding a direct line into his brain and then down between his legs. He twitched and reflexively pulled Kaoru’s hips hard against him with his free hand, hissing into the shorter man’s ear,“Kao, please…”
Kaoru loosed himself from Die’s embrace, slowly released the fingers he’d been lavishing attention on. He leaned forward, bending from the waist, hearing Die gasp behind him, he turned on the bedside lamp, smiled slowly up at the other man through the colored strands of his hair.
His hands found the waistband of Die’s shorts, the snaps falling down the front, and he slowly opened each one, watching his friend’s, soon to be lover’s, face as he did so. He paused when Die’s hands lit on his, looked at his eyes.
“Are you sure?”
Kaoru nodded. “We’re both adults here, Die, neither of us blushing virgins.” He grinned, did something with his hands that made Die shudder and the clothing fall to the floor. He helped the redhead step out of them, pushed him into a sitting position on the low bed, slipped off his own shorts before kneeling just between Die’s knees, hands on Die’s thighs, fingers stroking the downy hairs there.
He passed a heavy lidded gaze over Die’s erection, swept up to the his face.
Die’s lips were parted, drawing breath in short, quick gulps.
Kaoru let his lips spread slightly, revealing a hint of white teeth. “What would you like me to do?”
“Touch me…touch me.”
Kaoru ran his fingertips over the sensitive inner thigh skin, brushed perilously close to Die’s center. “But I am touching you, Die-kun.”
“Ah, God…” Die’s hands trapped his against his thighs, pulling him slightly closer in turn. “Put your mouth on me,
Kaoru.”
Kaoru pressed a kiss to a knee, each inner thigh, the faint line of hair that started low on Die’s stomach, his smooth hips; he flicked his tongue out over the curve of bone he found there, smiling when he felt Die shiver.
Fingers tangled in his hair, just this side of being hurtful, pulled his head away from the skin under his attentions and
Die’s gaze met his, beautiful, dark, lustful…
Kaoru wet his lips and Die smirked. So that’s the game he wants to play...
“Kaoru,” Die’s voice was low and sonorous in the dim room and Kaoru shivered. “I want you,” Die leaned forward, pressed quick kisses to the corners of Kaoru’s lips, “to take my cock into your mouth and do what you did to my fingers.” Die ended the orders with a lick across Kaoru’s full lips, untangled his fingers and leaned back on his hands, eyes never leaving the other man’s.
Kaoru let the weight of his body pull him southward, hovered over Die’s erection before touching it with the tip of his tongue in a lazy way. He drew his tongue back into his mouth, head slightly tilted, his eyes on Die’s. He might have been tasting wine or Shinya’s cooking. Leaning forward again he licked along the underside, over the tender vein, sucking gently at the foreskin before altering his angle slightly and letting the member slip into his mouth, moist tip brushing his inner cheek.
Die’s fingers found his hair again as he began to move, establishing a slow and steady rhythm, drawing him in deep, slipping to the edge and rolling his tongue around the sensitive head until Die’s gasps came one after the other and the pads of his fingers pressed hard against his skull.
“Enough.”
Fingers pulled Kaoru’s hair, he raised a brow but drew slowly back, offering one last lick.
Die’s hands touched Kaoru’s hips, slid up his sides urging him to rise, which he did only to find himself sprawled face down across the bed, a heat hotter than any flame he’d ever felt gliding up his spine. Teeth bit down on the back of his neck, on the soft flesh just below his hairline, pressing down a little harder until he gasped and bucked up into the body draped over him.
Hot breath stirred against his ear and Kaoru caught the resonating words, “I want to tie you up.”
A panting moan caught behind his teeth as the heat of that whisper, of those words made their course through his body, leaving him trembling. Of course he would go for the kinky stuff, he thought, but aloud murmured “God, yes,” into the counterpane, nodding in case the words hadn’t been heard.
The mattress shifted and reformed as Die left the bed, seemed to lose all its gathered warmth as well. He heard Die rummaging through bags, didn’t open his eyes to look until he spoke.
“Turn over, Kao.”
Kaoru did, moving so that he was in the bed’s center as Die crawled onto the mattress, moved to straddle Kaoru’s waist.
Kaoru touched Die’s thighs, his hips; he drew fingers down his shaft, pressed the tip against his skin as he moved his body upwards in a trapped undulation.
Die moaned through a grin before taking Kaoru’s wrists in his hands and wrapping around them one of the bandanas he’d foraged from his bag. He slipped the second bandana through the small gap left between the cloth and Kaoru’s hands and pushed the bound hands back against the headboard where he threaded the cloth through one of the intricate carved swirls and secured it.
Moving to kneel between Kaoru’s supine legs, he admired the view. Kaoru’s eyes were closed, lips parted. His chest rose and fell quickly and between his thighs molten flesh quivered, twitched, begged to be touched.
Kaoru gasped when Die’s hot mouth encircled him, pushed up into the warmth reflexively until his hips were pressed forcefully into the mattress. I always figured he’d be one to go directly for the score…
Thought fled as a hand cupped him, stroked the skin that wasn’t taken in by Die’s mouth, sending ripples of electricity zinging up his spine, and tingling down his legs. Die’s tongue flicked over the tip of him while still holding him in his mouth, moving faster, dipping, swirling, stroking, until the light dimmed and exploded around him, showering down in electric white slivers. He felt he was somewhere between his brain and his skull, unable to speak, unable to move until he felt his legs being rearranged and the questing pressure at the base of himself.
He opened his eyes to see Die watching his face as he dipped his fingers into the smoothness he’d caught in his curled hand and placed them at Kaoru’s entrance again, slicking him with his own fluids, slipping into him.
Kaoru shuddered at the intrusion, at the soft stroking of his inner walls, and when Die rubbed gently across that fleshy spot inside him nearly jerked free from his bonds. He felt himself growing hard again, felt the hands move away and opened his eyes to watch as Die stroked himself, slicking his erection with Kaoru’s own semen.
The redhead pulled Kaoru’s legs over his own, leaned close, and placed a chaste kiss to Kaoru’s lips. “I can’t wait…tell me if it hurts.”
Biting his lip delicately, Kaoru nodded, breathing in and out slowly as Die pressed against him, into him. He exhaled;
Die looked at his face, concern writ between his brows.
Kaoru smiled at him. “Keep going.”
Die gripped Kaoru’s hips, pushed himself slowly and firmly against the other man until he felt the initial tension release and hot tightness fully envelope him. He groaned, pressed a kiss to Kaoru’s abdomen, looked up at his face, the partially open mouth, the eyes that seemed glazed and almost feverish.
“It feels so good,” he said, “being inside you.”
Kaoru blinked, his mouth trying to remember the movements that would make a smile, “Move for me, Die. I need you to move.” He ran a foot along the back of Die’s calf, over the lower curve of his ass and watched his lover shudder.
Die drew out, felt Kaoru tighten around him as he pushed back in once, twice, until he established a steady tempo, keeping his thrusts shallow, staying as close to Kaoru as he possibly could, loving the feel of the legs wrapping around his waist, squeezing with every spasm that passed through the body beneath him.
As he felt himself slipping close to the edge, teetering on that precipice to oblivion, he reached between their bodies and wrapped his fingers around Kaoru’s shaft, feeling him swell even further with his strokes. He balanced himself with one hand, increased the intensity of his body’s movements until his balls tightened and he felt himself coming, pulsing into Kaoru. He sped up the movements of his hand then, bringing his lover to orgasm moments later. He lay down atop him gently feeling the slickness of sweat and other fluids between their bodies, Kaoru’s legs still wrapped around his waist.
“Ah, Die?” Kaoru moved his arms, sliding his bound hands up and down the headboard.
Die glanced up, hair falling over his eyes. “Right.” He stretched himself, refusing to leave his position, fumbled with the knot of bandanas. Freed, Kaoru’s arms wrapped around him and squeezed, Die lay with his head turned on Kaoru’s chest so that he could watch through the slightly parted curtains the moonlight on the ocean.
“Aren’t you glad you decided to take a break, Kao?” He murmured against his lover’s skin.
“Had I known this is how it would end up, I might have consented to taking one a lot sooner.”
Die grinned. “I’ll make sure you get many more of them. Maybe we should bring Kyo and Shinya next time…”
“You kidding? Kyo’d wind up drowned…that little island’s a perfect place to hide a body.” Die’s laughter echoed in Kaoru’s abdomen, up along his ribs. “I think they’re best left to their own devices.”
Die sat up enough to slip his hands beneath Kaoru and roll them both onto their sides, never leaving his lover’s body. “You’re probably right. Kami knows we do well enough on our own, eh?”
Kaoru didn’t answer, just kissed Die’s lips softly and pulled him close, watching the moonlight slip into the room, fall in slender soft edged slants across their bodies, finding no way to slip in between them.
They lay as if they had been molded together.
Two water creatures in a nameless place.
