Jade stood back at his position on the stage while Davey sung his heart out. Just as he trilled the last note of the song the guitarist noticed Davey stumble slightly.
After the singer had glanced back reassuringly at his lover and the rest of the band he went on to the next song. About half way through while Davey had the mic free of it's stand and was holding on to the stand itself, he started to sway. Jade's world slowed as Davey's voice trailed off and his lover went first to his knees then fell the rest of the way over.
"Shit." Jade cursed as he dropped his precious guitar without a second thought and ran forward to Davey, who lay so pale and still at the front of the stage.
"Davey?" Jade asked softly as he rolled him over and found the singer pale and unresponsive. Looking back at Adam and Hunter who were just now moving toward them. "Get the EMTs."
Adam took off without a second thought and Jade used a strength given to him by fear based adrenaline, to pick Davey up and carry him to the back and the waiting medical assistance.
****
Jade paced up and down the waiting room of the hospital while his brother, Adam and Hunter sat watching the doors Davey had been rolled through two hours before.
"Jade, you should sit down. You won't be any help to Davey if you pace yourself into the hospital bed next to him." Adam said softly as he reached out and prevented the guitarist's next pass.
Sighing, Jade sat beside him and glared half-heartedly at the door. "I just wish they would tell us something... Anything."
"I know, but-" Adam's words were cut off by Davey walking slowly out of the swinging doors looking pale, but better than before.
"Davey?" Jade jumped and wrapped his arms around Davey, who allowed him to take most of his weight.
"I'm fine... We should get home. I need to rest... Smith you're going to have to cancel tomorrow's-" Jade's brother cut him off with a nod as he stood.
"I've already cancelled the next two weeks bookings. You just get to feeling better, okay?" Smith told him then hurried off to see about rescheduling as many of those cancellings as he could.
Davey shook his head with a tired smile then looked to Jade. "Home?"
"Okay. Adam, could you and Hunter get the car?" Jade asked and the drummer and bassist left quickly not wanting to tire their sickly friend any more than they had to.
"You going to tell me what's wrong?" Jade asked as he lead Davey to the entrance.
"When we get home and I've rested a little." Davey reassured him and stayed silent until they got into the car. Once he was seated in the back he fell asleep with an ease Jade had never seen before.
"Must be something they gave him in the hospital." Adam commented as he navigated away from the hospital and to the airport so they could catch a flight home Smith had arranged for them.
"Must be." Jade murmured as he settled Davey closer to him and held him, wondering what could be wrong with his love.
*****
Sighing Davey woke from his slumber to find that he lay in his and Jade's bed at their home. By the light coming around the shade on the window, he guessed it was early afternoon. A glance at the bedside table and the clock on it showed him to be right. One of the guys must have carried him in the night before. The last thing Davey remembered was Jade leading him from the plane to the car waiting for them.
Stretching slowly Davey sat up and made to swing his legs out of bed, only to get so dizzy he had to stop and put his head to his knees. Breathing deeply the singer pulled the loose hair away from his face. He couldn't help but smile at the messy french braid Jade had to have put in for him. Gently he pulled the elastic band from it and unwound the falling mass.
Once he was certain he could walk and not faint, Davey stood and grabbing his bathrobe, made his way slowly to the bathroom. Once there he took a moment to lean against the sink to steady himself before moving around in his morning rituals. Use the toilet, quick shower, and cleanse his face of any additional make-up. But for one he didn't both to reapply any of it. The only beauty supply that touched his face was some lip balm.
Shrugging into his robe, he slowly made his way back to his and Jade's room and set out getting on some cloths. "Nothing fancy today, huh Dave?" Davey asked himself as he pulled on a pair of old battered pair of washed-grey sweet pants and a plain black t-shirt.
After having to sit for a moment to steady both his body and his mind Davey headed down stairs, to see what the others were doing.
In the kitchen he found all three of his bandmates talking softly and eating breakfast. When Davey walked in Jade was on his feet immediately and helping him to a chair.
"Thanks." Davey murmured softly as he just sorted of melted into the chair and allowed Jade to set a glass of juice in front of him. After making certain Davey was comfortable Jade turned and went to put on some toast for his boyfriend.
"It's okay... Are you going to tell us what's wrong or not?" Hunter demanded, his worry for his friend making his already brisk manners shorter than normal.
Davey looked down at the glass in his hands and was about to speak when Adam thumped his boyfriend in the back of the head. "Knock it off. Davey'll tell us when he's ready. And he needs to eat a little something first."
Hunter blushed and murmured an apology before going back to his cereal.
"It's okay, Adam. I'll tell you guys soon... It's just Jade and I should talk first." Davey smiled a brief thanks as Jade came back with the toast and set it in front of Davey who smiled a thank you up at him.
"Perfectly understandable... Hunt and I had some plans for today anyway." Adam said which caused the bassist to look up from his breakfast. "We do? Since-" he cut off with an 'ow' combined with a jump and a scowl at Adam.
Davey gave Adam a weak smile before starting to nibble on his toast.
Jade sat beside him, trying to know what to think. What was he suppose to do? Davey was obviously sick, and seriously so. Jade didn't know what he would do if he were to lose Davey. He was pretty certain it would break him.
A few minutes later the other two members of the household were gone leaving Jade and Davey alone in the kitchen. "Maybe we should take this into the living room... be more comfortable." Davey suggested softly as he stood and put his dishes in the sink.
"Sure." Jade followed close behind, just in case Davey decided to take another crash and burn.
"Jade, this isn't something easy for me to talk about..." Davey started before leaving off to draw a deep breath and stare at his hands on his lap.
"It's okay. Just tell me, we can handle anything together." Jade was all but chewing his bottom lip off as the many possibilities ran through his head.
"I'm not certain we can handle this." Davey said with a choked sob and he brought his hands to his face and cried.
"It's AIDS, isn't it?" Jade suggested softly praying as hard that he was wrong. But it all fit. Davey was slowly getting sicker and the only thing that popped into his head that caused everything he'd seen from Davey was...
Davey sat up with a frown as his sobs left off. "No! Not that. It's just..."
"Crabs?" Jade suggested hoping to make Davey smile a little, even if it was a pathetic excuse for a joke. But he was so relieved that Davey wasn't positive that it was the best he could do.
Frowning Davey smacked Jade on the arm and shook his head again. "No, not crabs. I think you'd have figured that out by now."
"I'm sure of that... I think we can handle anything else, Davey. Please tell me." Jade reached out and pulled Davey right to his side and gently eased Davey's head onto his shoulder.
"I... can't. Not right now. I'm still trying to grasp what's happening." Davey knew he was backing out but he still had a short time left before he had to tell Jade.
Jade looked down into Davey's brown eyes and nodded slowly. "Okay... just answer a few questions, 'kay?"
Davey nodded and shifted a little closer to rub his cheek on Jade's shoulder.
"Is what ever it is fatal?"
"Not normal... but like everything else it can have it's problems." Davey yawned as his eye lids drooped.
"How long do you think it will be until you can tell me?" Jade pulled the blanket that was kept on the back of the couch over Davey, who was slowly relaxing into sleep.
"Shouldn't be more than three or four months."
Jade was about to ask the rest of his questions when he realized Davey was already asleep. "Okay, they'll wait. And I guess I will too." he whispered as he laid his head down onto Davey's and just held him while he slept.
*****Part 2
Jade allowed Davey that time, but he watched as did Hunter and Adam. At first they were worried, Davey was losing weight he really didn't have to spare and not eating as he should. But about a month after that everything seemed to pick back up.
Davey was eating again and, if Jade were honest with himself, he was eating more than ever. Even at that moment, as they stood waiting to go out onto the stage Davey was happily munching on some carrots sticks humming some song to himself.
But even more than the eating was just how he appeared in general. Just over a month before he had been pale, and drawn. Seeming as though he were only a foot from the grave... and now... Jade didn't really know how to describe it. Davey was just... more. Under his make-up his skin had a rosy-healthy hue to it. Davey lush black waves of hair had taken to growing, not only longer but unbelievably healthy, even though Jade knew it hadn't nothing to do with the shampoo Davey was offering up as an explanation. But it was Davey's eyes that held the biggest change. Not only were the dark circles gone from underneath, but in the chocolatey depth there was an inner warmth that everyone noticed. Not only Jade and the others close to the singer, but even the fans who approached them. Everyone was commenting on the light they could see within those eyes.
The only thing that bothered him was Davey was on some kind of medication that Jade hadn't heard of and Davey refused to let him look it up. The singer even went so far as too make him promise not to.
"Come on, Jade!" Davey called as they were signaled to go out on stage.
Shrugging away his thoughts Jade hurried to follow, with Adam and Hunter right on his heels.
*****
Davey was singing to himself as he pulled on his cloths. Jade was still asleep, but the singer didn't blame him. It was only 6:30 in the morning and Davey hadn't felt Jade get into bed until around three. But Davey had gotten enough sleep having retired to the hotel room at around seven being in bed around 8:00. Since he had visited the doctor he'd had no trouble sleeping. Dr. Marcowitz had reassured him on many occasions that this was normal and to do as his body was telling him. If he were sleepy he should sleep, if he were hungry he should eat. And Davey had followed that to the letter. But this morning he was not crazy about following. His body was telling him to go eat a great big cheese omelet. A real egg, real cheese omelet.
"But I'm vegan." Davey complained softly to his body as he grabbed his tennis shoes and with the room key-card in his pocket he stepped out of the room.
Leaning against the hallway wall he slid his shoes on and made his ways to the closest eatery, it being some mom&pop style place. Sitting down he fought the urge to order the omelet, but then the doctor's words came back to him. //"Davey, if your craving something your body needs it and you should eat it... Now I'm not saying eat dirt or something like that, but within reason you should give in to your cravings."//
Sighing, Davey ordered the omelet and when it arrived all he could do was stare at it. His mind was screaming a huge 'no, don't touch that thing!' while his body was yelling just as loud 'eat it! you need it!'.
Picking up his fork he cut a small bite. He had to eat it... he might not want to, but he had to. Lifting the bite to his lips he was just closing his eyes when a familiar voice stopped him. "Davey, what are you doing?"
Davey jumped and lowered the bite from his lips. Looking up he noticed Adam walking towards him. "Hey, Adam. What are you doing out at 7 in the morning?"
"I had to do a little shopping before we moved on. What are you eating?" Adam was staring down at the plate in front of Davey with an eyebrow raised. He knew fake eggs and what was sitting on Davey's plate was not fake.
"I... it's a little embarrassing. It's a cheese omelet." Davey looked a little sheepish. "Made with real eggs and cheese. The doctor told me if I craved it I had to eat it... 'cause my body needed it... But I don't know if I can."
"Well... if your doctor said you should, then you should. But don't force yourself, okay?" Adam patted him on the shoulder and smiled a little at him.
"It's the only way I can eat it is if I force myself. I'll see you on the bus later... And Adam?" Davey looked at him hopefully. "Please don't tell anyone about this."
"I won't, buddy. See ya later." Adam walked away wondering what could be wrong with the singer.
Some minutes later Davey was putting the last bite of the omelet into his mouth and trying not to hate himself. "It's only because I needed it... That's the only reason." he murmured as he paid for his meal and walked out of the restaurant.
As he was walking back towards the hotel Jade came running out just then pulling on a shirt. He looked around with panicked eyes and once they alighted on Davey he slumped slightly. "Davey!" he called as he hurried over to his boyfriend. "I woke up and you were gone. Scared me a little."
"Sorry I woke up hungry. Should you be awake already? You couldn't have had more than four and a half hours of sleep." Davey scolded him slightly as he looped his arms through Jade's and walked him back towards the hotel.
"I'll just get some sleep on the bus... I wish you wouldn't just leave without a note." Now that Jade's adrenaline rush was over his body was feeling the lack of sleep.
Davey, noticing the bus was already running and the workers were already getting ready for their next trip Davey steered him towards the bus and then onto it. This was so that he wouldn't be forced to wake Jade up just to go to the bus and go back to sleep in an hour or two.
Getting to the back he settled him onto the large comfy couch and pulled his shoes off. "I'm sorry I worried you, Jade. Now you just go back to sleep." Davey murmured as he pushed Jade's bangs out of his face and the guitarist fell back into dreamland.
Davey could only chuckle softly as he stood and dug up a afghan to put over his sleeping lover.
After making certain Jade was comfortable Davey walked out to where Smith was overseeing the work being done. "Hey, Smith."
"Davey, what are you doing out and about so early? Feeling okay?" Smith asked giving his brother's boyfriend a small smile as he looked him over to make certain he was still as fit as the day before.
"I'm fine, I just wanted to warn you Jade's asleep on the bus, so make sure no squealing fan girls get on there and bother him while I'm getting our stuff." Davey gave a vague gesture back to the door of the bus and once Smith had nodded started off for the hotel.
"Hey, Davey. Let me help you. You shouldn't have to mess with my brother's crap on top of your own." Smith called a second later and then hurried to catch up.
"Thanks, Smith. But I think I can handle it all." Davey told him, but the other Puget brother was not to be detoured.
"I'm going to help you. You've got a lot on your plate right now and being sick doesn't help *and* you just shouldn't have to pick up after Jade on top of all that." Smith shrugged as they stopped in front of the elevator.
"Okay. And thank you again." Davey knew he was right, and he really shouldn't be tiring himself out any more than he had to.
"I think I'm ready to insist you tell Jade's what's wrong with you. Your turning my brother into a worry-zombie." Smith joked a little as they caught the elevator and went up to the floor Jade and Davey's room was on.
"Are you admitting concern about your brother? If I didn't know better I would swear that you were turning soft, Smith." Davey laughed as they got off the elevator on the third floor and walked a few doors down to the room.
"I am concerned... but if you ever mention it, they'll never find your body." Smith growled at him as they stepped into the room and began to pack up the couple's things.
Davey only laughed and walked into the bathroom and started to gather their make-up.
***** Part 3
**The whole point of this part is to get Davey into the outfit described within the fic, sorry if it doesn't have much to do with the actual plot line.**
A few weeks later the four of them were out shopping. It was something Davey insisted on every time they were close to Minneapolis and they had the time they would stop and tour the Mall of America. It would be just the four of them, out and about. Davey was walking a few steps ahead of them laughing at something and turning every once in a while to point out something or add to their conversation.
They were just passing a music shop when Jade, Adam and Hunter began to turn to go in. Davey however stopped them. "I've got some things to pick up. Why don't you three go ahead and do your thing in here and I'll meet you at the food court in... two hours?"
After agreeing, though Jade only did so reluctantly, Davey split off and hurried away into the crowd. "I hate it when he's so secretive." Jade murmured as they walked in.
"Then this sickness he's been keeping to himself has probably got you really irked." Adam said as they walked through the store looking at what there was.
"He promised that he would tell me within four months. There's only a month until his dead line." Jade said as he walked over to check out the guitar and the strings.
Further away in a pseudo goth store Davey began looking through the things they had to offer. "Is there anything I can help you with- Hey! you're Davey Havok!" the store clerk said as she pushed her hair out of her face to get a better look.
"Yeah... could you keep it down? I don't want to attract too much attention." Davey gave her his best smile and the clerk nodded her head quickly glancing around.
"Were you looking for something specific, Mr. Havok?" the clerk was bouncing on the balls of her feet smiling up at Davey.
"I just need some pants... Nothing really deeply goth... well if you know me you know the stuff I wear. Got anything like it?" Davey couldn't help but grin back. It was a funny sight, a girl who was so goth acting like a screaming fan girl to a boy band.
"I know just the thing! Come on." she grabbed his hand and drug him a few rows over and held up a pair of dark charcoal pants with zippers all over them.
"Perfect. Anything else?" Davey dug through and found his size before looking at the clerk for her next suggestion.
"Umm... Do you want some PVC pants? We've got a large stock. A lot of different colors and styles." the girl said as she lead him to where an entire row was dedicated to the plastic pants.
Davey hummed and looked through everything while she was off looking at what else might suit the singer.
When she came back she was amazed to see him adding a pair of powder blue colored PVC pants to the pile of them already in his hands.
"Umm, Mr. Havok are you sure that you meant to grab *that* color?" she said as looked at the different pairs in his hands. All of them were dark colors normal to Davey's tastes accept the one pair of powder blue ones.
Davey blushed a little a nodded. "Yeah.. something a little different for a special evening. Now what else have you got for me?"
Twenty minutes later Davey was just making it to the shirts. The clerk, Ashlyn, he found out had carried the huge pile of pants to the register and was just coming up to him with something in her hands.
"Mr. Havok... I was thinking about your pale blue PVC pants and you saying your going to be using them for a special evening... I thought you might need a shirt... And I always thought this one would look great with them." she held out the shirt in question and Davey took it. It was a very loose cut pure white shirt with silver and blue edging on it.
"I love it. Thank you, Ashlyn."
"Not a problem... I mean I'm getting a huge commission off of this and getting to hang out with the singer from AFI, what more could a girl ask for?" Ashlyn told him as she started looking through the shirts trying to match them to the pants Davey had picked up.
Almost thirty minutes later Davey was walking out of the store, fourteen bags of clothing in his hands. Ashlyn had been kind enough to direct him on his way and Davey had thanked her by autographing her shirt.
Turning he walked towards the next store on his list.
*****
At their appointed time the members of AFI met at the food court. Jade, Adam and Hunter were just walking up in time to see Davey eating some type of oriental noodles.
"Hey, guys! I got hungry waiting on you, so I grabbed something. I didn't know what you wanted so I figured I'd leave it to you." Davey said as he got another bite.
While Adam and Hunter were off in search of lunch Jade took in all of the bags at Davey's feet. "Buy enough Davey?"
"Yeap... And your credit card was screaming the entire time." Davey joked as he held out a bite of his tofu and noodle bowl. "Bite?"
Jade leaned in and took it smiling. "That's pretty good. Where'd you get it? I think I'll grab some."
Davey pointed out the small open grill and told him what the name of the dish was. Jade gave a him a quick smile before hurrying away for his own lunch.
*****
The next night they had a concert and Davey sequestered himself in a small separate changing room saying he had a new style he wanted to surprise everyone with.
Jade just shrugged it off and Adam and Hunter did think anything of it. At least they didn't until it came time for curtain call and Davey still hadn't come out.
"Davey, are you okay in there?" Jade asked as he tapped on the door.
"I'm great... could you just go on I'll be right behind you." Davey's voice was soft through the door.
"Okay... just don't be too late. I love you." Jade told him before starting to walk away.
"Love you too." Davey called back and as soon as he heard the others were gone he came out and glanced around.
Smith was just walking his way as Davey started for the stage. "Dave where.... what are you wearing?"
Davey did a little pirouette and smiled at him. "What do you think? I'm starting a new fashion trend."
"It's... pale." Smith couldn't think of any other way to describe it.
"I know. Didn't you know that white was the new black?" Davey joked as he ran onto the stage without looking back.
Jade was just talking softly with Adam and Hunter when his boyfriend came running out onto the stage. Jade knew his eyes widened as he seen the blue plastic pants and the white top Davey wore. He had bright white-blue lipstick on and silver eyeliner. His silver boots shined as he took up the microphone from his stand.
"Hello everyone. No need to look so shocked... Do you like my new outfit? I thought I'd try something a little different tonight, just for a change. Anyone mind?" Davey asked as he grinned at the crowd.
The response was immediate, apparently his friend from the pseudo goth store knew what she was talking about. The crowd roared and Davey started in on the night's schedule.
As they were finishing up the last song of the evening, Silver and Cold, Jade was staring at Davey amazed by how different he looked. His Davey... So pretty, almost like an angel and in that outfit he couldn't even say a fallen angel. Jade also noted that Davey was putting on weight. Not that he minded, Davey needed it. That would explain all of the new cloths he bought. He had probably outgrown most of the stuff he had with him.
Once the final note of the song had fallen Davey drew a deep breath and looked out over the crowd. "Well, I hope you enjoyed the show... and the outfit. It's been fun!" Davey said the outfit part jokingly, and then hung his mic up and with a bow hurried off stage with the others.
"So... do you think they liked the outfit?" Davey asked as he plopped down on a couch in the back with a tired smile.
"I think they loved it... So did I. It's very different, but still somehow you." Jade leaned down and gave Davey a quick kiss. "Now come on, we should hurry. The fans are going to want pictures of the new Davey Havok fashion."
"I hope that they don't expect me to wear this often. I might like it, but I think I'm only going to wear stuff like this for special occasions." Davey stood and stretched slowly, making his shirt raise.
"Hey Davey, I noticed you're gaining weight. I'm glad, you were getting so thin I was afraid I was going to break you in bed just by rolling over on you." Jade joked as he wrapped his arms around Davey's waist and held him close.
"Don't be silly, Jade. I don't break that easy... We're going to have to have that talk soon." Davey said the last part softly as he looked at Jade over his shoulder.
"Okay... when ever you're ready Davey. I don't want to force you into anything." Jade whispered back as he gave Davey another quick kiss, then grabbed up their things and pulled Davey out to where the fans were waiting near their ride.
***** Part 4
[1]: this is an old saying of my great-grandmother's. Thought it seemed right here.
[2]: the only vegan dish I've ever ate. If you ever get the chance try it, it's tasty!
A few evenings later Davey stood in front of a long mirror in his and Jade's hotel room while Jade was out getting some take out for them. He slowly ran his hands over his expanding stomach and frowned slightly as he turned one way and then another. "Hmm, baby you're getting big quicker than I thought you would. I thought I would at least have until month six before it became bluntly obvious... You're not even going to let me get far into month five are you?"
He inspected his changing figure a little more and then shrugged into an over-sized t-shirt. He knew Jade was starting to notice his weight gain. Davey supposed he could keep it a secret another few weeks, but he knew that sooner or later Jade would figure it out on his own and maybe be mad at him for not telling.
"Yeap, you're a lot bigger than I was expecting. I hope we make it back home in time for your next doctor's appointment." Davey whispered as he settled back onto the bed and picking up his journal went back to his list of thing he would need for when the baby arrived.
Jade came in a few minutes later and smiled at the picture Davey presented. He was curled on his side, his pen still clutched in his hand and his journal laying open beside him, completely sound asleep.
Setting the take-out down on the small bed side table Jade closed Davey's journal without looking into it and then pulled the pen from his hands. He didn't know what was wrong with Davey, but with the weight gain and sleeping regularly he couldn't find anything wrong with it. In fact Davey seemed healthier now that he had a long while. Before Davey had gotten sick Jade couldn't remember a time when he could walk into a room that Davey was sleeping in and him not wake up, let alone walk into the room, sit on the edge of the bed and take a pen from his hand.
"Davey... come on, love. Wake up, it's dinner time." Jade leaned down and whispered softly into his ear as he nibbled lightly at it.
The dark-haired singer woke up and smiled at Jade who grinned down at him. "Sorry I fell asleep. Oh... food." Davey noticed the to go boxes on the bed side table and sat up quickly reaching for it.
Jade chuckled and handed it to him before grabbing the pill bottle from the bag by the bed. Shaking out two he handed them to Davey who smiled grimly as he swallowed them with a mouthful of water. Grimacing Davey grabbed a fork and started to work on his vegan fried eggplant[2] Jade had gone out for.
After finishing his food Davey sat playing with his journal wondering how he could tell Jade. He knew Jade wouldn't be upset... other than by the fact that Davey hadn't told him. But it still worried him not knowing exactly how Jade would react.
"Deep thoughts sink ships[1] ." Jade told him as he gently titled Davey's face back up to his own.
"Sorry." Davey said with a chuckle as he smiled into those beloved hazel eyes. "I'm just trying to gather my thoughts... It's time to tell you the truth... and I don't know how."
"Well... just tell the truth and start at the beginning." Jade suggested as he moved himself and Davey to lean against the headboard of the bed and settled Davey to lean against his shoulder.
Davey nibbled at his lip ring as he thought about it. Then nodded to himself. He opened his journal to his list and handed it to Jade. "This will explain everything. I'm going to go downstairs and play in the arcade with Hunter and Adam. This page and about five before it will tell you what you need to know. When you're done come down stairs."
Davey gave Jade a hurried hug before pulling on his tennis shoes and grabbing his wallet to go down and visit with Adam and Hunter for a while.
Jade looked at the closing door and shrugged. Normally Davey wouldn't let *anyone* near one of his journals. But this was better than not knowing. Reaching out Jade snagged his glasses off of the table and slipped then on before counting back five pages and starting to read.
*****
Davey stepped into the arcade and smiled at Hunter and Adam as they fought one another at air hockey. "Hey, guys." he said as he moved closer to watch for a while.
"Hey, Davey. I thought for certain you'd be asleep already. It's been weird that you've taken to sleeping longer than any of us." Hunter said as he sent the puck back at his boyfriend.
Adam countered it before glancing briefly at Davey. "Jeez, Dave! No one would recognize you in that!"
Hunter glanced as well and Adam sunk the last point of the game. "Ahww damn! I demand a rematch! That was no fair. I was distracted!" Hunter insisted glaring and pouting over at Adam.
"Sorry, buddy. Not a chance. You know what they say, 'all’s fair in love and war'. This just happened to be both." Adam smirked at Hunter who narrowed his eyes and started stalking around the table toward the taller man.
"Now... Hunter... Get that look off of your face... Hunter... Hunter!" Adam let out a very unmanly squeal as he took off running with Hunter right on his heals.
Davey laughed as he watched them go. But then his laugh faded as he wondered what Jade was thinking about what he was reading.
Hopefully he was happy and excited... if not... well Davey would deal with that when it happened. He didn't have any reason to think that Jade wouldn't want the baby. "But you also don't have anything that says he'll want the baby either."
Sighing, Davey stood and walked out of the arcade and then across the hall to the small café inside the hotel they were staying at.
After signing a couple of autographs for the few fans that had recognized him he ordered a cream less Italian soda and sat sipping on it and waiting on Jade.
*****
Jade came tearing out of the hotel room just as Adam came running down the hall Hunter a few paces behind him. The three men went down in a tangle of limbs from which Jade was desperate to get himself untangled from.
"Where's Davey? He said he was going to find you in the arcade." Jade demanded as he finally made it to his feet.
"Umm... I don't know. I was kind of in a hurry to get out of there. He was still there when we left. Is everything okay?" Adam asked as he sat up beside Hunter who was rubbing his knees from landing on them.
"It... great... Wonderful... got to find him." Jade gave them a goofy grin as he took off running again, this time for the elevators.
"I wonder what could be so big." Hunter asked as he and Adam helped each other up.
"Don't know... but I think we should head on back to our room and finish this little... chase." Adam said a sexy hiss in his voice.
"Sounds like a plan!" Hunter said as they hurried on a few doors down to their room and locked themselves in for the night.
*****
Down in the café Davey sat stirring the soda wondering what was taking Jade so long. Maybe he had read it and wasn't coming. Maybe Davey had been wrong and Jade was upset about the baby. Or maybe he was still reading. Or even he hadn't figured out what it had all meant.
"Or maybe I'm going to sit here and worry myself to death." Davey put his head down on his hands and drew a few relaxing breaths.
At that moment Jade went sliding into the arcade and searched it from one end to the other. "Davey?"
Davey looked up at his name and seen Jade standing at the door of the arcade looking around with a lost, yet wild look in his eyes. "Over here, Jade."
Hearing his name, Jade turned and hurried into the café. At Davey's table Jade simply stood there and smiled weakly down at him. "So."
"So." Davey returned as he gestured to the other chair at the table. Jade landed in it and sat there staring at Davey in wonderment.
"We're having a baby." Jade started a moment a later.
"Yeah." Davey fiddled with his glass as he stared anywhere but at Jade.
"Why couldn't you tell me? Did you think I'd make you get rid of it or something?" Jade frowned at that. He didn't want rid of the baby. In fact he loved it already and would love any more that might come along in the future.
"I knew you wouldn't ask that of me, Jade... It's just our careers are just starting to take off really well... And truthful I was thinking too clearer when I first found out... and ever since I've been making excuses as to why I shouldn't or couldn't tell you." Davey brushed a few stray hairs out of his face.
Jade reached out and cupped his smiling softly at him. "That's my Davey, avoiding what he doesn't want to talk about. Why don't we go back upstairs and talk some more."
"Okay." Davey allowed Jade to help him to his feet and lead him upstairs.
*****
Jade giggled softly as he ran his hands over Davey's stomach. It had rounded so much. He felt kind of stupid for not having realized it earlier. Davey was sound asleep as he continued his rubbing. They had talked for a few hours about the baby and what the doctor had told Davey. And then Davey's yawns had made Jade put a stop to their talk. Jade had tucked Davey in beside him and now lay, feeling of the flesh the covered their baby.
He was going to be a dad. The responsibility blew his mind. He could only hope he was a good one. And as he lay there half thinking of things he wanted to do with his son or daughter, Jade fell asleep.
***** Part 5
The next day Davey was wondering if it had been such a good idea to tell Jade at all. The guitarist was driving poor Davey up a wall. First it was in the shower when Jade had taken over and washed Davey from head to toe. This didn't seem so bad at first. Then he had insisted on drying him and even going so far as to helping him into his clothes. After that he had held Davey's left hand in his and had his right hand at the small of Davey's back leading him first out of the room and then into the restaurant down stairs for breakfast.
Davey hadn't thought much of this, simply putting it off to Jade just finding out about the baby. He assumed that it would ware off in time. But then the others came in and Hunter playfully tipped Davey's chair a little.
Jade had jumped to his feet and decked Hunter, sending the bassist to the ground holding his jaw and looking at Jade like he had lost his marbles. "Don't ever do that again." Jade had hissed at him with his eyes narrow before moving back to his chair and smiling lovingly at Davey.
Adam had helped Hunter to his feet and the drummer demanded, "What the fuck has gotten into you?"
"Davey is in no condition to have childish shit done to him." Jade had said and that was the end of it.
Now, four hours and 350 miles later they were sitting in the back of the bus silently.
Finally Davey couldn't take it any more. "Guys, he doesn't mean any of it."
"Like hell I don't! I don't want you hurt over some stupid stunt." Jade hissed the first part at Adam and Hunter and spoke the second to Davey softly.
Adam looked at Jade with questions in his eyes before looking to Davey. "Can you tell me what kind of pine cone he's got shoved up his ass?"
"He's just a little over protective right now." Davey murmured as he unconsciously smoothed his hands over his stomach.
"I have the right. One of Hunter's idiotic stunts could hurt you." Jade looked at him pleadingly and put his hand over Davey's as they rested over their child.
"Oh shit... you've spawned!" Hunter said as he noticed and correctly interpreted the motions.
"Our child is not a spawn!" Jade yelled as he stood to punch Hunter again. Davey was faster this time and got between them. "Jade, you're upsetting me." Davey pulled the helpless look he had loathed on every other pregnant person.
"Oh... I'm sorry, Davey. Come on sit down and I'll brush your hair." Jade said naming the one thing he could think of to relax Davey.
"Thanks." Davey shot a look over to Adam who nodded and pulled Hunter away for a short time. Jade pulled out a brush and began to work it soothingly through Davey's long locks.
A few minutes later Jade stopped brushing and leaned down to give Davey a soft kiss. "You know I love you right?"
"Yeah... almost as much as I love you." Davey told him as he laid his cheek against the edge of the bench Jade was sitting on.
*****
"I'm happy for you, Davey." Adam told him a few hours later when Jade and Hunter had gone out to find some kind of dinner for them.
"Thanks... I didn't know how you'd react. I was a little scared you'd be disgusted or something." Davey reached out and took Adam's hand in his for a second before releasing it to settled back against the back of the couch.
"How could I be disgusted... Hunter and I have been trying." Adam glanced down at his hands a light pink color fresh on his cheeks.
"Oh Adam... Jeez now I feel bad. But it'll happen. I know and then our babies will grow up together. Friends, just like us." Davey grinned as he leaned over and hugged Adam for a quick second before settling right beside him. With a quirky smile he went on, "Maybe you're just not trying hard enough."
Adam looked at him aghast. "We have sex every chance we get! How can that..." Adam left off with a chuckle. "Is that your way of telling me to have more sex?"
Davey put his hands to his stomach and pulled a shocked face. "Now would I do something so... so..." Davey couldn't finish as he cracked up with laughter.
"Yes, Davey, you would. And look at it this way... Hunter and I can help out with this baby so that we don't screw up our own." Adam laughed as he reached out and gently felt of the smooth lump in the middle of Davey.
"There will be now screwing up of the Havok-Puget baby, mister!" Davey stated still chuckling. Just as Adam was about to move his hand they both jumped at the small movement that hadn't come from either of them.
"Hey did the kid just move?" Adam asked as he looked down at the cloth covered abdomen of his friend.
Davey stared in wonderment. "Yeah... that's the first time he or she's done it enough for anyone to feel other than me... I guess it was his or her way of saying 'hello, uncle Adam'." Davey giggled when the baby moved a little more. "I hope Jade gets here before he or she decides to stop."
For the next few minutes Adam and Davey laughed as the baby kicked a few more times and then decided to nap. When Jade and Hunter returned with dinner Davey all but assaulted him with the news.
Then during the rest of the evening Jade sat with his hand on Davey's stomach waiting to feel the baby.
He was just starting to get disappointed and a little jealous of Adam as they were getting ready for bed when Davey jumped a little and called out for him. "Jade... come here."
Jade rushed to his side a little worried. "Are you okay?"
Davey took his hand and moved it around on his belly until he felt a tiny shifting under his palm. "What the... Is that?" Jade started getting excited as Davey nodded.
Dropping to his knees Jade let both of his hands shift until he could feel any movement the baby made. "Hi little one..." Jade whispered as a single tear ran down his cheek, his mind almost stopping at the his first feeling of his child moving.
After he was on his feet again, his hands still over the baby, Jade smiled softly at Davey his heart in his eyes. "I love you both so much."
"We love you too." Davey reached up before Jade could scrub away the stray tear and captured it on his finger. He brought it to his lips and licked it gently up off his finger before allowing Jade to strip and tuck both of them into bed.
***** Part 6
"So this is the papa, I take it?" Dr. Marcowitz asked as he walked into the room with Davey sitting on the exam table and Jade sitting beside him looking more scared than Davey.
"Yes, sir. Dr. Marcowitz this is my boyfriend Jade Puget. Jade, Alric Marcowitz." Davey introduced and chuckled as Jade tried to come up with something to say outside of a basic 'hi'.
"It's a pleasure, Jade... Ready to see the baby, Davey?" Dr. Marcowitz asked as he helped Davey settle back onto the table he had been sitting on and then dimming the light slightly.
"Yeah." Jade said sounding like an excited little kid.
"Now that's what I like to hear. I was so worried when he came to all of his appointments alone that he was doing this by himself... But he kept reassuring me that he had somebody at home. I guess you have been busy? This new music you're working on must be keeping you very busy." the doctor glanced at Jade with a raised eyebrow, obviously questioning what Davey had told him.
"I'm barely getting any sleep... But you can expect that to change now that he's farther along." Jade reassured him then shot a look at Davey telling him that they would talk later.
The doctor nodded and had Davey lift his shirt. After coating Davey's stomach in a thin layer of gel and then the end of the implement used in the ultrasound. A moment later he was running it around until he came to rest on a certain spot. "Well, papas, there's your baby. Want to know what to expect in a little over three months?"
Jade looked at Davey who shook his head. "No thank you... I think I'd rather be surprised." Davey frowned for a moment the looked up at Jade. "Unless you want to know?"
"Naw... I can wait... Anticipation will only make the wait more interesting." Jade brushed Davey's hair away from his face and gently kissed his forehead.
"Well then... everything looks great." Dr. Marcowitz went on to point out various body parts and print out a couple of pictures for the proud parents.
*****
"Hey Davey what do you think of this one?"
Davey looked up Hunter's words and cracked up laughing at the tiny dress Hunter was holding up. It was something directly out Nightmare Before Christmas. It was a dark pink accent with black flowers.
The four had taken a little time while they were waiting for their studio time while recording their newest cd. Smith had, in no uncertain terms, put a hold on any more touring after he found out about the baby. As he had said "You guys have enough new stuff we can get them laid down. Then you can go over them and do all the finishing work while we're waiting on my niece or nephew to be born."
After that Davey had insisted on one more show just to announce the reasons for cutting their tour short. The crowd had gone crazy when Davey had told them that it was going to be his last concert for a while. Then they had gone nuts again when he told them that AFI was going to be recording the next cd ahead of schedule. And for one final time the crowd screamed when Davey told them the reason that they were going to be cutting the cd ahead of time. By the next day they were getting flooded with well wishes and gifts.
They were slowly recording as Davey felt up to doing his parts. After the beginning of month six he had started slowing down, as the baby grew larger. Now at just over eight months Davey was large and most of his activities were cut out.
So now while they were waited for some more time in the studio they were out doing a little baby shopping.
"It would be perfect if I knew I was having a girl. But it would look kind of silly on a little boy." Davey had refused to find out what he and Jade were having so it made clothes shopping for the baby a little hard.
Hunter frowned and nodded but went ahead and carried it with him as he went on to see what else he could find. Jade and Adam were being the responsible ones and picking out the important thing like a car seat and things like that, while Davey and Hunter toured the baby clothes.
Davey moved slowly through the displays of onesies and picked out a couple of sets that could go for a boy or a girl. "Hey, Davey! Look at this!"
Hunter held up a tiny pink tie. Davey let out a little snort as he waddled over and took the tie from him. "I think this is a definite buy." Davey tucked it into the cart with the rest of the things he and Hunter had picked up.
"Maybe you should rest a little Davey... You're looking a little pale." Hunter suggested pointing to a small sitting area as they passed by it.
"I think I will. I'm getting too big to go out anymore." Davey chuckled as he allowed Hunter to help him into one of the chairs.
"Naw... maybe we should just get a little pony cart and Adam can pull you around where ever you need to go." Hunter said with a chuckle as Davey threw one of the tiny sets of shoes he had been looking over at the bleach blond bassist.
*****
Davey had just finished the last of the songs he was recording when he just sort of slumped on his stool in front of the microphone.
"Davey?" Jade called in a worried tone through the glass of the recording booth.
"I'm fine... Just tired, Jade. I'm glad it's..." Davey left off as he slipped from the stool to his knees holding his stomach.
Jade tore through the door between them and knelt at his side. "Davey?"
"I... shit... I think you'd better call an ambulance." Davey said as he stared at the red stain on his pale grey pants.
Jade paled considerably at the sight of the blood and screamed for someone to get some help.
****** Part 7*
An hour later Jade stared a hole through the ER doors. "It's going to be fine Jade." Adam said softly as he put an arm around Jade's shoulders allowing the guitarist to lay against his side.
"What happened, Adam? Everything was fine... he and the baby were doing great. The doctor cleared him to work so long as he was sitting down... Maybe I shouldn't have let him work at all... Maybe I was the one who made this happen."
Before Adam or Hunter could say anything Smith leaned around Hunter and smacked his brother in the mouth. "You did no such thing. And if you say it again I'll kick your scrawny little ass, got it?"
Jade sniffled a little and nodded. "Sorry."
"It's okay... I know you're scared. I am too... We all are. But if anyone can pull through this okay it's Davey... I mean he can live with you three. He can survive anything if he can eat Hunter's nasty cooking." Smith said before rising and pulling out his cell phone. "I'm going to go make a few calls. If there's any news send someone for me." With that he walked away.
"Davey will be okay... right?" Jade looked between his friends with a lost look as if he were still in a deep seated shock.
"Sure he will, buddy." Hunter said as he gripped Jade's hand and turned his own attention back on the door.
*****
"Jade?" Dr. Marcowitz came out over an hour and half later.
Jade jumped off of the couch his eyes wide and his face pale. "How is Davey? What about the baby?"
"Come with me." the doctor gestured to the door and Jade followed him out with only a glance back at Adam and Hunter who were settling to hold one another until they got the news.
The doctor waited on Jade as he walked through the door. "The placenta tore... And before you say anything it was no one's fault. Things like this just happen. But thanks to your quick reaction both Davey and your daughter are fine, if a little tired."
"A girl?" Jade's eyes some how widened even more as the doctor guided him into a softly lit room.
Davey lay in the partially up-right bed holding a tiny bundle in his arms. He glanced up and smiled at Jade as he held out a hand to his boyfriend. "Hey."
"Hey yourself... Are you feeling better?" Jade moved slowly closer until he could take Davey's hand and looked down into the partially open blanket. A tiny bright red face greeted him. Her little fists were clenched near her face and he smiled as she yawned and stretched a little. Jade could see a light dusting of darkish hair on her head.
"Yeah... A little sore, but I'll survive. Isn't she perfect?" Davey took one of her tiny fists and the tiny fingers clasped his finger tip as he leaned down and pressed a kiss to the pink hand.
"Perfect." Jade let out a sigh of relief as he sat lightly next to Davey who was still busy admiring their little girl.
A moment later Davey looked up and smiled softly. "Here, hold out your arms, Daddy. I think Amethyst needs to get to know you."
"Amethyst... Are you sure Davey... I mean we looked at all of those good names..." Jade nervously allowed Davey to put the baby into his arms and for the first time, Jade was holding his daughter.
"She looks like an Amethyst." Davey said as he leaned even farther back into the bed and just watched father and daughter for a moment.
"I guess..." Jade said as he stood and moved so that he was closer to the light so he could see better. He looked her little face over carefully and then kissed her forehead. "Hi, baby girl... I'm your daddy... But I don't think you need me to tell you that... I've been talking to you for the last little while... But this is our first face-to-face meeting. You and your other daddy gave me and your uncles a bad scare earlier... But then I guess you had to enter the world in a bang, huh? Yeah, Davey's right you do look like an Amethyst."
Davey chuckled as he lowered the bed a little more and fell into a light doze.
When Jade turned back Davey was already sleeping peacefully and so Jade moved to the rocking chair beside the bed and settled himself and Amethyst there.
*****
Adam stuck his head in and smiled at the picture Davey, Jade, and the baby made. The doctor had only now just allowed them back after sharing the news that Davey and the baby were okay.
Hunter and Smith slowly pushed him in making him stumble slightly, rousing Jade from the doze he had fallen into. "Hey, guys... Come look at what Davey and I have done."
He parted the blankets a little more as the three men came closer. Though none would admit to it later they all cooed softly at her admitting she was beautiful, if a little tiny.
"Adam, Hunter, Smith, may I introduce to you Amethyst Lauren Puget. Amethyst, these are your goof ball uncles that are going to get you into a whole lot of trouble if you're not careful." Jade introduced her around and the three nodded at the name.
"Fits her. She looks a lot like Davey." Smith said as he gently lifted his niece from Jade's arms and held her close for a moment before passing her off to Hunter and turning for the door. "I've gotta go call some people... I'll be around if you need anything."
After Smith had hurried off Hunter was left staring at the baby in wonder. "She's so small... Well Ames... you've got a lot of growing to do if you ever want to play guitar... Then again I guess I could find a small enough one. Any way, welcome to this world... I hope you enjoy it as much as we do." Hunter gave her a quick kiss on the head before handing her to Adam who tucked her close to his chest and smiled ever so softly.
"Hi, little girl... Hunt's right you've got a lot of growing to do... I hope you're ready for an interesting life... 'cause there's no way your's is going to be dull." Adam handed her back to Jade who smiled and snuggled her close.
"We had better head back to the house. We'll grab you some clothes and Davey's bag, as well as install that car seat. When are they coming home, do you know?" Adam said as Jade and Amethyst walked them to the door.
"Doctor says probably the day after tomorrow. And the clothes would be a good idea. I don't think I could leave them for even a second." Jade glanced down at Amethyst as she yawned and blinked her eyes up at Jade.
"Okay... We'll see ya later. You did good." Hunter told him with a pat on the arm.
"Davey did the work... All I did was...er..." Jade left off with a glance down at Amethyst who stared blearily up at him.
Adam and Hunter laughed and nodded. "Tell Davey we'll be back to see him soon."
"Okay. Bye." Jade watched them leave and then walked back to the rocking chair he had been in. There he settled down and started humming softly to the baby as he rocked her slowly back to sleep.
***** Epilogue
"Davey... can I see you in the bathroom for a moment?" Adam called out one morning when Amethyst, or as Hunter called her Ames, was about five months old.
Davey stuck his head in and smiled at Adam. "Need something?"
"Umm..." Adam held up an at home male pregnancy test.
The singer came the rest of the way in and grinned at the positive sign. "Congratulations."
Adam sat on the edge of the tub and shook his head. "Hunter and I had given up. We didn't care which of us carried it... We had started taking turns topping just to see if maybe... and then we had decided it probably wasn't going to happen for either of us just two weeks ago... And now." Adam waved the test at Davey with a weak smile.
"I'm happy for you... Now, come on. You've got a daddy to be telling the good news. Don't do like I did and wait until you've got most of your pregnancy behind you." Davey stood him up and took the test from him and gave him a push for the door. "Go on."
"Yeah... Thanks Davey."
"I wasn't the one who knocked you up." Davey laughed as he moved Adam to the door of his and Hunter's room before pushing him in.
Davey was still laughing to himself when he walked into the nursery as Jade was bottle feeding Amethyst her midday meal. "What's so funny?"
"Adam's about to give-" Davey stopped when a loud 'yesss!' could be heard coming from Adam and Hunter's room. "As I was saying Adam just gave Hunter some good news... Looks like Amethyst is going to have a little friend soon."
Jade groaned and shook his head as he lifted the little girl to the burp cloth on his shoulder and rubbed her back until she let out some of the air she had swallowed. "Well... it should be interesting if nothing else."
Davey chuckled as he took Amethyst from Jade and swung in a little circle making the baby laugh happily. "Well, my little secret... what say me and you and your daddy go out and get some vegan ice cream?"
Amethyst turned serious dark eyes up to Davey and blinked a few times before laughing again.
"Well... vegan ice cream it is." Jade wrapped an arm around Davey and walked them out of the house and away from the noises of celebration coming from Hunter and Adam's room.

"Do we have to, Jade?" Davey asked as he watched Amethyst bitting her lower lip looking up at the big school in front of her.
"She knows where her class is, Davey. She'll be fine... I don't want to let her go either." Jade told him as he watched from the driver's seat of the SUV. Davey sat with one hand holding one of Jade's hands and the other holding onto the door handle.
Amethyst looked back at them with large hazel eyes as she chewed on her little lower lip, trying to decide if she should be running back and hiding in the safety of her daddies' arms.
Just then a loud squeal made her turn and smile. Damien Carson-Burgan came running up to her with the straps of his back pack clutched tightly in his hands.
"Dami... you're suppose to be in pre-school not big kid school." Amethyst told her life long friend as she glared at him.
"Maybe... but they said I was too smart. So I get to go to school wif' you." Damien smiled sweetly at his friend as she sighed and shook her head.
"Okay... but only if you're suppose to... Come on I'll show you where the class is." Amethyst took his hand and they walked off into the building without even glancing at her fathers.
Adam and Hunter walked up to the SUV and smiled in the window at the other two members of the band. "Hey... hard isn't it?"
"Yeah... why didn't you tell us that he was starting school this term?" Davey grinned as he tried not to cry at his little girl having grown up too quickly.
"It was kind of a last minute thing. We took him in for testing to attend pre-school, but they said he was too advanced for it. They told us we should go ahead and start him early." Hunter told them trying not to puff his chest too much in pride for his son.
Davey nodded. "I was so worried about splitting Amethyst and Damien. They were so upset when you three moved into your own house... and that was just a three block move!"
"Did you walk here? If you did why don't you hop in? We need to start on those new songs any way." Jade told them after they had watched the few last minute kids go running into the elementary school.
"Yeah... it seemed kind of silly to drive when we live two streets over." Adam told him as they got into the back of the SUV and headed to the Havok-Puget household and the mini-recording studio in the basement.
Davey and Adam had to get one last look in at the school as they pulled away.
Ficlet #2
"Dads, I'm going out!" Amethyst yelled as she came bouncing down the stares.
"Hold it!" Jade's roar brought the seventeen year old to a halt.
"Yes, Daddy?" she blinked huge innocent eyes as Jade and Davey came out to where she stood in the hall way by the front entrance.
"What do you have on?" Jade glared at the tiny short skirt she was wearing.
"A skirt. It doesn't show anything." she insisted as Davey walked around her and tisked frowning.
"It doesn't cover anything." Davey rendered his verdict but before they could order her back up stairs to change the door opening made them all turn to stair at the dark haired young man as he stuck his head in and smiled.
"Hey Ames... You ready? If we're going to make it to that concert we need to leave now." Damien smiled at his 'uncles' and then looked to his friend and whistled. "Damn! Ames I'm going to be beating them off of you tonight. See ya later on Unks." Damien grabbed Amethyst's hand and drug her out before Davey or Jade could say anything.
Davey and Jade stood in the door way and frowned as their daughter got onto Damien's motorcycle with him then they sped away.
"I hate it when they do that. They always seem to save one another at the last moment." Davey chuckled as he turned to smile at his lover.
"I know. I'm just glad she has someone to watch after her." Jade sighed as he and Davey walked back in and settled on the couch.
A few minutes later a knock on the door had Jade up and opening it to reveal Adam and Hunter with two large vegan pizzas. "Come in."
Some time later they sat chatting and laughing about various things. "So do you know who they're going to see?"
"Some synthe-band called Punk-Bastards... I think" Davey said then frowned.
"Gah! That isn't even real music." Hunter grumbled. "It sounds so... so... hollow. There's no emotion in this new shit. Not like there use to be."
They all murmured agreements then stopped and stared at each other in horror. It was Davey who spoke first. "Guys, when did we get old?"
No one answered as they groaned in despair.
Davey spoke up again and smiled ruefully. "Well, at least our music made it big before we got old."
Again all of them murmured in agreement.
Ficlet #3
"Daddy, Poppa... I've got some news." Amethyst said as she smiled at them from the other end of the video-phone they were talking over, as she was at art college in New York.
"What's that, sweetheart?" Davey grinned at his baby girl. She had grown into a beautiful woman. With his hair and Jade's eyes she was a perfect mixture of them.
"I'm getting married." she held up her left hand and showed off the ring on the ring-finger.
Davey turned to look at Jade, who's eyes were just as wide as his own.
"Who?" Jade managed to choke out as he sat beside Davey.
Just then a familiar face came into view and Damien ducked his head with a soft blush on his cheeks. "Hey, guys."
Jade and Davey couldn't say anything else as the happy couple went into the plans they already had.
Finally Davey managed to choke out "We're happy for you, sweetheart."
Jade's look of joy was reflected in Amethyst's face as she grinned back at him. "Thank you, Daddy."
After getting off of the phone Davey and Jade took a short drive over to Adam and Hunter's, and found the other couple in as much shock as they were.
"Well... we'll finally be family." Adam said with a half laugh.
They remained silent for a short time then Hunter's barking laugh made them turn to stare at him with question. "Do you guys realize that when they have a child, it will be AFI incarnate?"
The four looked at each other and cracked up laughing. "Let's hope they wait to have a family... I don't think either of them are ready for 'AFI' incarnate." Jade laughed as he pulled Davey close to his side and Hunter settled beside Adam.
