My Fear

fear
i followed my fear to the end of the earth
you
you were there
you were my fear

you were what i told myself i did not need to cry to every night
as i grasped myself tightly, a cold sweat from frustrated sex alone

you were what i wrote to, what i bled to, what i mourned to
you were the reason i had to give my eyes that glazed look
straight from the bottle

i can't stand being in love you
and i can't stand you not being in love with me

i can't stand watching your lips against hers and the smile when you're with her
and the way you never looked at me like that

and i hate the way i feel when she kisses me and i kiss back
i'm living a lie

i hate going home to live another day lying to her
no longer in love with her, just wanting her to stay

convince me i'm normal
