I ran my fingers through my hair and glanced around, it was another day on the set of National Treasure. I was the stunt man but there weren't too many dangers here so I had a lot of down time. I headed to Diane's; I wanted to ask her about a rumor I heard involving Sean and Orlando...
I knocked on her door and she shouted, "COME IN!"
I figured she was in the back and walked toward her voice, "Hey it's just me James."
Diane looked up and replied, "What can I do for you?"
I bit my lower lip and flushed a bit, " I wanted to ask you about a rumor...It's ab-."
She cut me off, "About Sean and Orlando? No their not seeing one another anymore, what that amounted to was an experimental fling."
I nodded, " Ah I see, well that's all I wanted to know."
She smiled a bit and I headed out. So it was experimental...just my luck, but it's not like I had a chance anymore...and I am about half his age but damn it so was Orlando...why couldn't it have been me? I sighed and looked down, now completely depressed. Since I wasn't watching where I was going I ran right into someone and fell on my back and swore. I then froze when I heard Sean's voice.
"Terribly sorry there, I wasn't paying attention."
I tried not to flush and replied, "It's fine, I should've been watching where I was going."
He helped me up and looked down at me since he was about a foot taller then myself, " You look a bit distraught, are you ok?"
I shrug, "I'm fine, don't worry about me."
He replied, "Hmm of course I'll worry, you are my stunt man."
I wasn't able to hide a flush, that voice of his was going to undo me, right then and there if I didn't find a way to excuse myself...He was laughing at me, I could see it in those ice green eyes...those eyes...fuck..."Uh I have to go...to the...bathroom..." I hurried away, greatly flushed and flustered, I made it to my room and shut the door and leaned against the door and slid down it, sighing...Never in my life had I met someone like Sean, someone who could leave me breathless with a mere glance.
A couple of hours later I slinked through the set, flushed and paranoid...I know he had to know by now...and those eyes...had been laughing at me...he had been able to see through me...If I hadn't been so flustered...so caught up in the moment, I might of been able to make it through this project with my dignity in tack...Ha...no chance of that. I made my way to the set, Sean had very little need of a stunt man, the only stunt he did was when his arm was aflame and he did that one himself, I thought that was pretty brave of him...As far as I knew he had done most of his stunts...why was there any need for me? I frowned slightly and pushed the thought away, at least I was getting paid, I supposed that was all that mattered. But I couldn't help but feel a bit useless, I had done very little work...nothing at all. I sat back in a chair, unaware of the green eyes that were on me. I brushed my fingers through my hair, muttering about the state it was in.
"ACTION!"
I jumped and looked around, I didn't know they were starting soon, was I late? Not that it mattered that much. I frowned a bit and looked toward the car parked in the street, there Sean was, talking to Nick, but it appeared that they were acting, just talking...
"Gotcha."
I glanced behind me and there Diane stood, I glared at her playfully, "Jesus you scared me." As I sat back down, she sat down in the chair next to mine.
"Had to get you back to reality somehow, you were star gazing."
I blushed slightly and chuckled, "Was I that obvious?"
Diane smirked and sipped her drink, "A little more than so. Sean was staring at you for a while and you didn't even notice."
This news made me flush a great deal...I hadn't noticed at all, "Are you serious?" I sighed and ran my fingers through my hair and she laughed.
"Would I lie to you..."
Grinning with a reply I spoke, "Well there was that one time..."
She hit me, not too hard, "Oh I was just joking!"
I smirked and stole her drink, "Hmm mmm, were you now?"
We talked about nothing really for awhile, she had some down time since they were having to film this scene again and again, every time someone yelled action, I jumped and twitched, which made Diane laugh even harder. I rolled my eyes and leaned back and glanced toward the car, they weren't there anymore, I frowned a bit and sipped Diane's drink, where had she gone? I glanced at the seat beside me and my breath caught in my throat, there he was...sitting there...staring at me...his face showed nothing, gave away not a thought to what he may have been thinking. I looked away, pretending to be interested in the crew chatting across the street from us. Then tension began to build at an unbearable rate, I continued to drink the coffee, which didn't help the situation at all. I shifted a bit and what seemed like an eternity, he was finally called to go do his scene...and I was sure doing all that time he had not taken his eyes off of me.
I shifted again and Diane came back and smacked me up side the head, "OW! What was that for?!"
She rolled her eyes, " He was staring right at you and you had a chance to tell him that you wanted him and you wasted it, he sat by you just so you'd have the chance!"
I grumbled, "Well if he knows how I feel why didn't he bloody say so?"
She shook her head, "He's been the one telling everyone else how he feels and he's been through three divorces and a break up, maybe it's someone else's turn to tell him what they think about him." She snatched her coffee and left me sitting there...
I sighed heavily, "I hate it when she's right."
For the next couple of days I avoided Sean at all cost because I knew he must think me an idiot or a heartless bastard, either way...whatever he thought, I knew he didn't think much of me at the moment, I sighed and leaned against the door with my eyes closed. What had I been thinking? I knew anyway that it wouldn't work between us anyway...I wasn't good enough...wasn't bright enough...talented enough...not worthy of such affections. What had I done....what had I done? It wasn't due to lack of dreaming...more to a lack of trying...being too scared to try...to reach out to him. He had been there...within my grasp...so close I could of touched him if I had wanted to...Why hadn't I? Too much of a coward, I looked up it was getting late, might as well head out to the club to try and keep my sanity in tact. I made my way down main street and into the bar the Celebs and crew members of National Treasure had claimed as their home away from home for the time being. It was a quite club until the lights went low and singing and light show started. For now it was too early for that, most of the other crew members were working on tech and such to make sure tomorrow went just smoothly as today.
I sat in the back of the club, in the corner, it was dark and no one could hardly see me unless they came right up to the table. I knew Sean would be here tonight and I didn't want to increase the anymore tension between us. I ordered Vampire Red Wine, the richest, darkest wine I had ever seen and I had taken quite a liking to it. I drained about half a bottle before the effects of oblivion started to set in. I laid my head down on my arm and sighed, the sorrows of my own stupidly were the topic of the night in my head. The lights and singing had started and the party was on but I remained dead to it, dead to everything around me. I sighed softly, letting the voice in the back of my head tear me apart for being a coward, I deserved it and so much more...How could I have been so blind? I had more questions than answers for the way I had let things go. All I could come up with, was I was blind...a blind coward, who couldn't see anything past his own fears...pathetic...I was pathetic...how could Sean ever forgive me for such a thing? It was amazing how things could turn from an innocent crush, to crushing you're heart. I again was dead to the world around me and was quite unaware that someone had sat at my table.
"Looking a little crest fallen, aren't we?"
A voice broke through all my thoughts, bringing me back to myself, I lifted my head and there he was again, staring at me with those winter green eyes that so often had left me speechless, "...Heh." And there again was the tension that I had tried so hard to avoid.
"Try not to seem so depressed by my presence."
I looked at him completely shocked, "No! No...It's not that at all...heh umm..."
He watched me stumble over my words, and desperately tried to keep myself above the water so to speak, "Is it because you believe me to be incapable of being there for you just because I've been divorced more times than I care to count."
I sighed, yes 3 divorces was 3 too many, "No...It's not that at all...I'm just...I don't know..."
He ran his fingers through his hair, either out of annoyance or out of a loss to what to do, I couldn't tell which.
