Toshiya leaned back in the plush booth, breathing a heavy sigh.
"Just two more lives to go..."
Die leaned over and raised his half full glass of beer towards the other two men sitting beside him. "To going home!" Shinya and Toshiya raised their own glasses in salute, then drank.
"Not that I don't enjoy performing here." the bassist said after a moment. "It's just...."
"Different." the drummer said quietly, folding his long, thin legs under the table.
"Exactly!" Toshiya drained his glass, then set it down among the others collecting on their table. "More?" Die nodded enthusiasticly and the bassist jumped to his feet. "Be right back."
The black and blue haired man quickly made his way across the dance floor, past the nearly deafening speakers to the bar on the other side. He spotted an opening at the counter and quickly slid onto a barstool as the busy bartender took orders at the other end, slowly making his way down the line.
He managed to nab a small bowel of peanuts and popped several into his mouth just as he heard the two men sitting to his immediate left speaking to each other in a language he didn't expect to hear quite so fluently in this crowded little American Bar in the middle of Los Angeles.
"I really do think this line-up will work better now," the closest one to him was saying, one delicte hand coming up to tuck a lock of bright red hair behind one ear. "Not that I would have wished to loose those two, but..." he paused to take a sip of his beer. "Perhaps things will work out better this time around."
Toshiya couldn't help his curiosity as he watched the blonde man sitting at the red-head's left nodded.
"It's too bad, really," the first man continued. "I mean, they are both very talented-" Suddenly, the crowd behind them surged forward, pushing both men forward and to the right, nearly unseating them. The redhead flailed his arms to stop himself from falling, thus loosing a hand on his beer and knocking it over. The amber liquid splashed, not on the counter, but over the edge, nearly soaking Toshiya's left thigh.
Toshiya leapt to his feet, eyes wide in surprise as the cool liquid quickly seeped through his thin jeans.
"Ah! Sumimasen!" The redhead cried, motioning for the bartender to bring them a towel. After recieving the small rag, he leaned forward, one hand on Toshiya's hip, the other pressing firmly on his thigh to soak up the mess. Toshiya just stared a moment, still shocked, until he became aware as to just where this man's hands were touching him. He grabbed the red-head's hands in his, forcing him to stop, his face flushing slightly.
"It's ok, really." he spoke quietly in japanese. The other man's head snapped up, eyes widdening slightly, then stood, tossing the rag on the counter.
"I really am sorry," the red-head said. "Please, let me buy you a drink as an appology."
Toshiya found himself smiling as he looked down at the slightly shorter man, whose porcalian face tried hard to hide his embaressment. "It was your drink that was wasted," he said, "but thank you anyway." He cocked his head slightly to one side. "You seem... somewhat familar to me, but I don't know why." He stuck his hand out in a very American fashion. "I'm Toshiya. Perhaps we've met before..?"
"Kisaki," the red-head said, "and this is my friend Ruiza," the blonde on the other side of him smiled slightly. "I'm pretty sure we've never actually met before," the one named Ruiza narrowed his eyes slightly as he cast a quick glance at the red-head, "but I do know who you are." Kisaki smiled. "You are the drummer for Dir en Grey, correct?"
Toshiya's eyes widdened hust as bartender finally made his way back to them to take their orders. After he was gone, Toshiya turned his attention back to the two men. "You listen to our music!?"
Kisaki nodded slowly. "Don't tell me are drinking all those by yourself?" he pointed to the three glasses the bartender was fixing for Toshiya several feet away.
"Oh, no," Toshiya laughed. "A couple of those are for Shinya and Die, two other members of our band." He turned slightly, pointing to a dark corner of the bar to their left. "The three of us are sitting back there if you want to join us."
Ruiza's eyes widdened as Kisaki turned to look across the dance floor, barely able to make out the drummer and rythum guitarist through the crowd. He put a firm hand on his friend's shoulder and leaned forward.
"I really don't think that's a good id-"
"No," Kisaki interuppted, then turned his head back towards Toshiya. "I would not want top intrude." A flicker of disappointment seemed to flash across the other man's face, so he smiled brightly. "But perhaps another time?"
Toshiya carefully picked up the three glasses, but didn't leave just yet, though he wasn't really sure why. He leaned against the bar, brow furrowing slightly, regarding the red-headed man with searching eyes.
"Are you going to the show tomorrow night?" Kisaki nodded and Toshiya found himself smiling dispite himself. "Good. Then perhaps we'll meet again." He nodded his head towards the blonde peering over the taller man's shoulder, then carefully made his way through the thick crowd.
Ruiza slapped his friend lightly on the back of his arm. "Are you insane!?"
"What?" Kisaki frowned, sitting back down on his barstool with his fresh drink. "It was true; we never did meet since he really was my replacement," He chuckled slightly into his glass as he took a small sip. "though I'm pretty sure he got an earful about me..." His face turned thoughtful. "It's too bad, really. He's quite attractive, and talented to boot."
The blonde shook his head. "You were really considering going over there, weren't you?"
Kisaki shrugged. "It would be nice to see them again..." he stared down into his drink. "It's been quite some time."
"And I'm sure at least two of his bandmates would not be pleased to see you." Ruiza reminded him softly, then sighed. "Why did you tell him that you'd be going to their live tomorrow? Surely they've got to be sold out by now."
The red-head shrugged again. "I have friends."
Ruiza snorted. "Yes, I know you do, but none of those men over there count as any of them." he stood, tossing a few bills on the counter to cover his tab. "Well, I better get home and get some sleep. Asagi-sama will kill me if I'm late for rehearsel tomorrow. Or have you forgotten that we have a schedule of our own to keep?"
"I have not forgotten." the other man said. "We have the hall to practice in all day, so Phantasmagoria, Siva and Dari can go first, then Kodomoa, Pashya, Karen, 12012 and Vidoll. I figured if D goes last, or at least sometime after, say.. Pashya, I could slip out for a couple of hours. I mean, at that popint they really won't need me, and considering you guys aren't even on my label.."
"I'm still not sure how we got talked into going on the silly tour with you." Ruiza mused. "It's like 'Welcome Under Code Productions... and D.'" he proclaimed in a false, deep voice with a smile.
"Heh, I told you I have friends." the older man grinned. "Plus I thought you guys could use a little more coverage than what the heads at God Child had tentativly planned for the summer."
Ruiza wrapped an arm around his old friend's shoulders, grinning. "Aww, you just missed me and Asagi-kun, didn't you?"
Kisaki smiled a moment, then shrugged the other man off. "Go back to Asagi and get some rest. I'm leaving in a minute as well." He watched as his friend winked, then strode out of the crowded bar, disapearing out the door. He turned his attention back to the drink in his hand, though drinking was the last thing on his mind just then.
Die accepted the drink eagerly, taking a long draught before the other man had even sat down. After a moment he set his now half empty glass on the table with a content grin.
"So who were you talling to up there?" the guitarist asked, his voice slightly slurred. Shinya folded one slender hand over his, leaning his head on the other man's shoulder. "A fan?"
"As a matter of fact, yes!" The bassist beamed. "And he was japanese too, a native by the sound of his voice." he took a swallow of his own drink. "He said his name was Kisaki."
Die chuckled. "Well, as long as he's not that Kisaki..." Toshiya's eyebrows furrowed and the guitarist rolled his eyes. "Oh, you remember-"
"Maybe not, Die," Shinya spoke up, "he was long gone by the time Tochi here arrived to take his place."
"Oh, please," Toshiya snorted. "Why in the world would he be here, of all places?"
"Well," Shinya thought a moment. "I think Under Code's doing a tour with a bunch of their indies bands and another.. I can't remember who.." the blonde frowned, his slightly inebriated state not allowing his brain to focus quite as quickly as he'd like.
Toshiya shook his head, long hair dancing around his shoulders. "No, he seemed like a pretty cool guy..." he smiled slightly", kind of hot too... His friend wasn't too bad either. Oh, what was his name?" Toshiya huffed and squinted his eyes in that over-exagerated way he usually got when a bit tipsy. "Oh, right, Ruiza." He beamed triumphantly, though it was shortlived as his other two friends exchanged startled glances. "Eh?"
"I remembered what that other band was." Shinya said, his face blank."
"Ok..."
"D."
Toshiya gave him a blank stare and Die leaned over his lover to swat the bassist lightly across the top of his head.
"Dork, one of the guitarists for D is named Ruiza."
"So what?" Toshiya rubbed his head and frowned. "I think you guys are making some pretty big assumptions here. Kisaki's a fairly common name, an I'm sure theres bound to be a ton of them that also happen to have a frind named Ruiza, another a common name." He stood, somewhat wobbly. "Come. Let me go introduce you two to them and we can put this all out of our minds." He turned towards the bar and sighed. "Ah, looks like they've left." He flopped back into the deep cushioned seat and regarded his friend's with a silly grin. "You guys are just being paranoid."
