“Mhgnmm? Moshi moshi…” Hyde’s overly tired voice mumbled into the phone, his eyes still closed.
“Hello Haido!” Gackt’s cheery voice greeted him. “Did I wake you?”
Hyde frowned a little and rubbed his eyes. “Mmm… what time is it?”
There was a slight pause. “It’s only 10am.”
Hyde whined a little and sat up, rubbing at his head a little to try to clear the fuzziness. “10…? Mou… I only got to sleep like… 3 hours ago…”
Gackt chuckled. “Go make yourself a coffee, I’m bored.”
“But I need more sleep Gakuto.” Hyde whimpered.
“No you don’t, just have lots of coffee and I’ll come pick you up.”
“But Gakuto…” He was too late, the taller man had already hung up.
Hyde pouted a little and lay back down on the bed, oh how he just wanted to go back to sleep, except he knew Gackt would be here soon. He rolled off the bed and stood up, his eyes still half closed as he padded into the bathroom for a quick shower. The warm water didn’t do a good job of waking him up, and he flatly refused to cold shower. After 15 or so minutes, Hyde stepped from the shower and grabbed a towel, he wrapped it around his waist and secured it before he wandered out to the kitchen and turned the kettle on to make a coffee.
While the kettle boiled Hyde went back into his bedroom and pulled on some clothes, black jeans, and a red long sleeved shirt. He dug around for a pair of socks, then his boots as he heard the kettle click off. Pulling on his boots he walked to the kitchen and made his coffee before lacing the boots up. His small hands wrapped around the large mug as he wandered to the lounge room and sat on the sofa, sipping at the hot drink until Gackt arrived.
It wasn’t long before there was a knock at his door, Hyde’s head turned to look at it before he got to his feet and opened the door. Gackt’s smiling face greeted him cheerily.
“Come on in Gakun.” Hyde smiled, sipping at his coffee and closing the door behind the taller man.
Gackt nodded and walked inside, he took a seat on the couch, and Hyde joined him, smiling at the younger man from behind his mug. “So, what brings you around? Bar your boredom.”
“That’s about it really.” Gackt confessed. “I thought if you were free it’d be nice to catch up with you again, we’ve both been busy.”
Hyde nodded. “Mmm… sounds good. I’ve got some time off, hence my late night.” A light laugh left his lips.
Gackt laughed. “What were you doing all night?”
“Internet.” Hyde smiled into his coffee. “Stupid addictive thing.”
Gackt laughed again. “So, I was thinking of heading up to Pompom Mountain today, I’m wondering if you want to come with? Maybe we can… dunno… have a picnic thing or something? Make a day of it?”
“Mmm…” Hyde set the now empty mug down. “Sounds like a plan, what’s the weather like?”
“Warmish, sunny. It’s a nice day.” The taller man replied, standing and stretching a little.
“Mmm, good. Will I need anything?” Hyde asked, standing and walking into the kitchen and washing his mug.
“Well, not unless you want to bring something. We’ll buy some food on the way out.” Gackt replied from the kitchen doorway.
Hyde set the mug on the sink and nodded. “Alright, I might bring a blank book… Never know when I’ll get inspired to write or draw.” He gave the other a silly smile as he left the kitchen and grabbed a book and pen from the coffee table.
“Ready to go?” Gackt asked, laughing a little at the silly smile on the shorter singer’s face.
“Once I get my sunglasses and stuff I’ll be ready to go.” He replied, reaching for his keys and glasses, slipping his glasses onto his head.
The two men left Hyde’s house and chatted randomly, riding the elevator down and walking out to the street. They got into Gackt’s car, Hyde setting his book on the back seat as Gackt drove them to a small supermarket towards the outskirts of Tokyo. He pulled into the parking lot and killed the engine, they kept talking as they wandered through the small shop, grabbing a few things for today and taking them to the counter. The young man who served them paused and stared as he recognised the two singers and tried to not fumble in his sudden nervousness. Gackt paid for the food, they took the bags, and left. The young man was still staring as Gackt’s car pulled out onto the street.
“So, what do you actually have planned for today… well, what’s left of it.” Hyde asked, letting his head fall back against the headrest.
Gackt smiled and shrugged. “Nothing really… Just… relax and do whatever I guess.”
Hyde chuckled and let his eyes close for a moment. “It’ll be nice to relax and have nothing planned for once.”
“Mmm, it will be.” Gackt nodded in reply.
It was about an hour drive out to the mountain, they chatted all the way, only pausing as Gackt pulled his car to a stop and turned it off. Both singers got out; Hyde grabbed the bag of food and his book from the backseat and followed Gackt, stifling another yawn.
“Are you still tired?” The taller man asked, stopping and sitting on the grass underneath some sakura trees.
Hyde nodded and joined him on the grass, putting the bag and book to one side. “Yeah… Just a little.”
“You should’ve had more coffee.” Gackt replied letting himself lay back on the ground, his arms behind his head.
“I didn’t have time.” The shorter man replied, lying down as well.
“Poor excuse.” Gackt teased, throwing a handful of petals at the shorter man.
Hyde covered his face as the petals hit him, sticking in his hair and to his clothes. One hand lifted to brush the petals off him; some staying stuck in his hair. “All gone?”
Gackt nodded, his well-trained poker face not letting on that the shorter man still had a large number of pink petals in his hair. “So… want to start on…?” He started and paused.
Hyde had fallen asleep already, his hands tucked under his cheek, his eyes closed, a small peaceful smile on his face. Gackt couldn’t help but smile at the shorter man’s cuteness as he slept, sakura petals still in his hair, a few more falling to land on his face. His blue eyes watched the other man for a few moments as he slept peacefully before he reached for Hyde’s sketchbook and drew his knees up, setting the book on his lap. He started to draw, trying to not screw up his lines as he only had a pen to draw with.

Hyde awoke about an hour later, his body a little sore from sleeping on the ground, but feeling a little less tired than before. His eyes opened slowly, fists rubbing the sleep from them as he sat up and looked around a little. Gackt was standing a little way away, stretching and doing some kicks to pass the time until Hyde woke up again. He looked over and saw that the older man was awake and smiled, stopping what he was doing and walking back over.
“Sleep good?” He asked, sitting on the grass again.
“I didn’t even realise I’d fallen asleep…” Hyde replied sheepishly.
“Well, you were sleeping for at least an hour or so.” The taller man replied with a smile.
“Oh God… Sorry…” Hyde stretched a little.
Gackt shook his head. “No, no. It’s okay. You obviously needed it. What’s wrong?” He asked, noting Hyde’s shuffling.
“Uhmm… well… Nothing…” He looked away, cheeks slightly red.
“It’s obviously not nothing Haido, you’re blushing.”
“Am not.” Hyde retorted childishly.
Gackt smiled and ruffled the shorter man’s hair. “Anyway, what did you want to say?”
Hyde shook his head, biting on his bottom lip. “Nothing.”
Gackt’s head cocked to the side, he kept watching Hyde to try to figure out what was going through the other singer’s mind. Hyde’s brown eyes darted to look at the younger man for a moment, then away, then back again, then away once more. His lips moved, but Gackt couldn’t hear the words the other had spoken.
“What?”
Hyde was quiet for a moment, then he turned and crawled close to Gackt and grabbed his head. Before the taller man knew what was happening, Hyde’s lips crashed against his own in a deep, but quick kiss. The older singer pulled away and moved back to where he sat, his cheeks were red. Gackt was shocked into silence, that one action had him unable to speak, let alone think.
“Don’t tell anyone….” Hyde finally said. “It was… a once off.”
Gackt could only nod in reply. Hyde moved where he sat and noted his sketchbook had been moved and left open. He reached out and grabbed it, beating Gackt’s attempt to snatch it. He looked at the drawing on the page, a smile curling his lips.
“I didn’t know you could draw this good.” He smiled over the top of the book.
“Well… you just looked so cute sleeping like that… I couldn’t help myself.” Gackt started. “And anyway, I had to do something to break the boredom.”
“Shut up.” Hyde replied, his cheeks flushing quickly. “That’s such a lame excuse anyway.”
Gackt merely laughed at the shorter man and shifted a little, stretching his legs slightly and laying back on the grass. “Want to start on that food?” He blinked as a droplet of water landed on his face. “Ee?”
That one droplet was followed by more, the blue sky quickly darkening as rain clouds rolled in. Both men frowned and gathered their belongings as the rain began to pelt down, sending the singers racing to Gackt’s car and climbing into the seat.
“Damned rain.” Hyde frowned, looking out towards where they had been sitting before. “Where did that come from? There were no clouds before.”
Gackt shrugged and dropped the bag of food on the back seat. “I have no idea… but, looks like we can’t have our picnic now.”
“Well, maybe we can wait for another day?” Hyde asked, sliding his sketchbook onto the back seat next to the bag of food.
The taller man nodded and sighed softly. “Yeah, we might have to…”
“Maybe we can…” Hyde grinned and crawled between the front seats to the back. “Picnic back here?”
Gackt looked at the other in the rear-view mirror and laughed, turning around and shrugging. “Eeh, why not? Sounds like fun.”
The taller man turned in his seat, and started to climb into the back seat, his arm hitting the horn and sounding it. He started and laughed, continuing his attempt to get into the back seat. He succeeded soon enough and plopped down next to Hyde.
“So…” Hyde grabbed the bag of food and set in between them on the seat.
“Well… let’s eat. I’m hungry.” Gackt reached into the bag
“Mmm.” Hyde nodded, then let out a surprised squeak.
Gackt had ducked forwards and captured Hyde’s mouth with his own in a deep, warm kiss. The younger man pulled away with a mischievous chuckle, his blue eyes sparkling.
“That was a once off, don’t tell anyone.”
