Heavenleigh sighed in annoyance as she entered 'Broken world'; A new Goth club in London's Camden town, only a block away from her own apartment. She'd worked there since it opened a few months ago and she enjoyed it- most of the time. Some night were slow, other were way too crowded, but it was good overall.
Tonight was different. Tonight there were multiple cool bands playing at Brixton academy and she had tickets to see them all. But unfortunately, her not so likeable colleague Dianne had called in sick and she was forced to cover. Damnit!, that was just her luck!
She smiled slightly as she walked behind the bar and saw her friend Sara already there. At least she wasn’t alone in her misery, since Sara had been wanting to go to Brixton too, but was also stuck in the bar tonight to work an extra shift. Well, at least she hadn’t bought a ticket.
“Hi Hun, ready for some action.” Sara faked a big smile, nodding sarcastically to the handful of people in the almost empty room. Heavenleigh’s blue eyes narrowed dangerously when she saw she had cancelled her night out for…fucking 5 people. That was just wrong.
“This is it? You got to be fucking kidding me?”
“Nope, this is it. This was it when I got here, and this will probably be it when we will leave tonight. And what did they fucking expect? It’s a Wednesday night for gods sake.” Sara growled, cleaning some dirty glasses in the sink and spilling water all over the floor when threw her arms up in the air in frustration.
Then cursing and reaching for the mop with an angry sweep of her brown hair.
Heavenleigh just smiled at her friends attitude as she absently played with one of her lip-rings. Sara was such a drama queen sometimes, but she was used to it by now.
Her bag was placed on the chair behind the bar and she started cleaning the counter, as Sara mopped the water soaked floor around her feet.
“Yeah well, at least there’s a good band here tonight.” She pointed out when she noticed the instruments that had been set up on the small stage in the back. Some of the crew were still busy with the boxes and sound checks to get ready for their performance.
“Yeah, Heaven…..something.”
“Heaven fails. They’re good. They play dark rock and stuff, so it’s perfect for this place. They even have a song called Broken world.” Heavenleigh nodded, sweeping a strand of purple hair off her forehead as she started helping her friend wash up some of the glasses. God this was boring.
“Great, but there won’t be a big audience for them anyway.”
“Well, the drummer's hot, so at least we have a nice view!”
Sara laughed when her friend winked at her, and gave her a playful nudge with her elbow. Heavenleigh was always trying to play matchmaker for her, and even though it never worked out, it was still funny to see her never give up.
“Would you stop it. It’s not going to happen.” She stuck out her tongue, making Heavenleigh grin, before she turned to a customer at the bar.
“Hello lovely ladies, Hit me with another double whiskey, would you. And have one yourselves while you’re at it. It'll loosen you up a bit. You might even end up in my lap tonight.”
One of the men that had sat in the back disturbed them as he stumbled towards the bar. Smiling, winking and baring his yellow teeth to the girls, who tried to not cringle at the disgusting flirting attempts. Heavenleigh grabbed a bottle to pour the guy’s whiskey into a glass, while trying not to laugh when Sara pretended to throw up behind the counter when the man looked away. Neither of them gave a response, being used to the gross and unwanted comments by now. Customers like these were the worst kind, but they always had to stay polite, or it could be the last day they'd work there. Oh well, they could at least gossip about it when they were gone.
Luckily, the guy grabbed his glass and pretty much crawled back to his former seat, leaving the girls alone when he noticed their lack of interest.
“Thank god, dirty old man. He’s been giving me the weirdest looks all night.” Sara said with a disgusted look, but Heavenleigh wasn’t paying attention to her. Her gaze had shifted to the big window that showed the street the bar was located in, which suddenly had become more crowded.
She pressed he face against the cool glass, only to see a big group walking through the streets and making a lot of noise. Some of them were singing, others were just laughing really hard, and she could see all of them were looking far from average. Most of them were pretty tall and dressed in dark clothing, with long hair and pretty eccentric outfits. And now, they were all heading towards the café.
“Hey Heav, what are you looking at sweetie?” Sara called from her spot behind the bar, looking at her friend with raised black eyebrow and confused green eyes.
“I guess you were wrong Sara, darling. It looks like we're having more visitors tonight.”
Sara frowned, and opened her mouth to respond, but the gust of wind that blew back their long hair when the door opened made her forget her question.
Heavenleigh was right, she realized, as the group of men walked in.
The men looked oddly familiar but she couldn't quite place them, Something which bothered heavenleigh, even as her eyes were drawn to one of the men at the front of the group. He was slim with almost a girlish figure, and his pale skin and dark eyeliner made his striking green eyes stand out even
more. The guy next to him was shorter, with dark curls, baggy jeans and sparkling blue eyes.
She jolted back to reality as Sara, not-so-subtly elbowed her in the ribs.
"You were drooling. First the drummer, now that guy, what’s next? You gonna go and take up Rodney's offer?!!" She teased, referring to the whiskey drinking regular that had flirted with them earlier.
"Eew no!" Heavenleigh exclaimed, wrinkling her nose in disgust "What can I say? I have a thing for guys with makeup!"
"Well can you at least be professional when we serve these guys?!"
"Hey, I'm always professional." Heavenleigh said indignantly with her hand on her hip. The image was ruined slightly though, as she slipped on the still- damp floor with a yelp and landed on her ass.
"Yeah, that proved your point!!" Sara choked out through her laughter, reaching out a hand to help her friend up. "Besides, everyone knows you're a huge flirt."
Heavenleigh glanced round the bar, thankful that no one seemed to have noticed her fall. "Ok, ok I'll be good." She grumbled, before pasting a cheery smile on her face as the men came up to the bar.
"Hey, what can we get you?"
Chapter 2
Migè sat at one of the bar stools as soon as they walked in the bar. He was dying for a beer, and ordered one for himself and the others right away. He quickly eyed up the bartenders who took his order, checking to make sure they weren't fan girls. He was so sick of the screaming, drooling girls that seemed to be following them everywhere.
They seemed ok though, the girl with purple hair and lip piercings seemed very flirtatious with everyone but mostly directed at Ville.
Of course, it was always Ville.
The tall girl with long brown hair and big green eyes had a half amused, half mildly annoyed look on her face as she watched and quietly served them with a polite nod, like she was used to the
constant flirting of her friend. She was the more professional of the two, choosing not to joke around too much. Only Migè did notice her eyes kept being drawn back to Bam. Not in an flirty way, but more curious, and almost concerned.
He sighed in annoyance as, once again, Ville failed to notice the look of jealousy and hurt on Bam's face as he innocently flirted back with the punky bartender, who was now leaning over the bar a bit and laughing at one of his jokes.
Migè wasn't the only one to have seen the look on Bam's face, which was normally the case, but Sara had seen it too. And now her mind was racing. Something was up with these guys.
Why was the skater before her looking like he was going to cry when he glanced over to the tall, dark-haired men on the other stool next to the man in the middle with a red woollen hat over his ears, looking mildly annoyed.
Migè caught Sara’s eye when she looked a Bam again and she gave him an questioning look with her head nodding towards Bam. Frowning and asking him silently why the boy was pouting like he was, even though he tried to hide it and laugh along with the rest of them. Migè just smiled at her while rolling his eyes, looking over at Ville and the bartender with the purple hair, who was now giggling and twirling her locks between her fingers. Sara followed his gaze, and her eyes widened before she looked back at blue-eyes skater boy. It wasn’t too hard to figure out what was going on.
“So you guys are a band right? What do you call yourself?” Heavnleigh asked Ville, who smiled and took a little sip of his beer.
“HIM, sweetheart. Do you know it?” He asked with a sweet grin. He loved the way he could always make the ladies swoon, with only a simple look or a little smile. He always liked to try out how easy it was to get them drooling over him. Not because he had any interest in them, even though this woman was a very lovely lady, but because it was very good for his selfsame.
His love interest however, was somewhere else right now. He wished it wasn’t, but it was.
“HIM, that’s it! I knew I recognised you from some band. I love your work you know, You have the most amazing voice.” Heavenleigh told him with a voice that was dripping with sweetness. She liked the green eyed, dark haired god in front of her. He was hot, and a musician, and he seemed to like her. So why not give it a shot? She didn’t even notice Sara who rolled her eyes as she tapped more beer for the men.
“Thank you darling.” Ville winked at her, making her blush, as she fingered the hem of her shirt and occasionately flipped back her long purple hair.
Ville gave her a quick glance over with his eyes, and smiled to himself when noticed she wasn’t as tall as she seemed to be, standing behind that bar. She was wearing a pair of one of the highest heels he had ever seen. In opposite with her colleague, who was wearing flats. But surprisingly still had the same height.
“What’s your name, love?” Ville heard himself ask, caught up in the little game he always played, and the girl giggled.
“Heavenleigh.”
“That is beautiful, it suits you.” He winked, making Heavenleigh grin like mad, and Sara, Bam and Migè make a face. It wouldn’t get any cornier then this.
"What's yours? I feel like I should already know it but it's not coming to mind, sorry." She said apologetically.
"Don't worry sweetheart, my name's Ville." He responded, giving her a beautiful smile that made her glance down bashfully as she bit her lip ring.
“So, why don’t you come joins us. I’m sure we'll move to one of the tables over there. You can keep us company.” Ville smiled, not noticing the annoyed look on his band member’s face, or the hurt look that crossed over his best friend’s features. Ville wouldn’t start something with her, or even sleep with her, but he always like to be smothered with female, or even male attention. Simply to forget who…. he couldn’t get.
Heavenleigh's face lit up, but Sara’s evil glare was like a bucket of ice water on her enthusiasm. She knew that would go too far for her friend, and she couldn’t leave Sara alone. Damn, that sucked. She really liked this guy.
“I can’t. I’m working. Why don’t you come over now and then to keep me company?” She smiled, biting playfully on the tip of her finger, as she leaned over a little more.
Ville gave her a sweet smile and promised he would be back later, as the whole group grabbed their beer and move to the tables in front of the stage, where the three guys and three girls of the performing band had begun playing their first song.
The silent streets as fallen angels turn to stone
struggling for one last breath in this tainted world of sin and shame
the poison of a million twisted minds falls from the sky like rain
and we drown
Bam grabbed his beer and followed the group, faking a smile when Ville walked passed him and gave him a playful slap on his shoulder. ‘Damn you Ville.’
Things had gotten worse, Bam knew. It was bothering him more and more see Ville like this, and it was getting harder and harder to hide his feelings. It was the reason why Missy and him weren't even together anymore, because she wasn't the one on his mind, and she'd known that. It was just, since Ville and Jonna had split up, and Ville had started to hang out in his castle more often, his feelings had changed towards his best friend.
He didn’t even want to give it a name, but he just knew that seeing Ville flirt with all these girls and even guys, didn’t make him feel so good. It made him want to puke. That was a far as he allowed himself to think about it.
Falling into pain, no way out and I’m going down
no one to save me now, it's too late
He slipped into a seat next to Ville, and winched when their knees touched under the small table. Why, oh why was he torturing himself like this. He noticed Ville waving and smiling to the girl behind the bar and tried not to growl in frustration. He was already starting to regret coming here. Why was Ville such a shallow flirt all the time. Why was he acting like a cheap one night stand every time some one showed interest in him. He was better then this.
Broken dreams and failed gods
crying their tears of a better world that's lost
no hope to save us now,
edens been forgotten
Back over at the bar, Sara’s eyes kept following Bam, and she noticed how he was struggling behind that goofy grin on his face. This boy was in pain, she realized, and it made her feel sorry for him. She'd seen him on TV a couple of times, and he'd always seemed so happy. Now he just faked it. It just wasn’t sincere. The smile never reached his eyes.
“Heavenleigh honey, stop waving and drooling like a dog in heat and look at this for a minute. Look at that. Do you see what I see?”
"Yeah I do and it's fucking beautiful!" Heavenleigh drooled, still watching Ville. "OW, BITCH!" She yelped suddenly as Sara's hand connected with the back of her head.
"Snap out of it, I didn't mean him, stupid. The other guy, the one sitting next to him wearing an element shirt."
"What about him?"
"For fuck's sake, when you like a guy you're blind to anything else around you. Look closely."
Heavenleigh sighed and tried to focus her attention on the skater rather than the drool worthy singer. At first it seemed like nothing was happening, he looked a little miserable but everyone had their off days right?. But then, Ville looked over at her and gave her another blinding smile and that's when she saw it. The skater looked like he'd just had his heart ripped out and jumped on, like he was about to burst into tears. He suddenly got up from the table and headed towards the mens bathrooms.
She spun round wide eyed and stared at Sara unbelievingly. "Oh my god, he likes him."
Sara nodded. "I don't know if they used to be a couple or if he's even told the guy about his feelings but the flirting between you two is killing him."
Heavenleigh immediately looked contrite. "Fuck. If i'd have known, I never would have flirted with him."
Sara just looked at her with an eyebrow raised.
"Well ok, I might have flirted a little but come on, can you blame me? He's sexy as hell. But I wouldn't have flirted this much."
"I'm gonna go out the back and wait for him to come out of the bathroom. I want to know what's going on." Sara said, opening the door that led out to the back part of the club.
"You can't just ask him!" Heavenleigh said, shocked.
"Why the hell not? We might be able to help if we can work out what's going on."
They both glanced at the table where Ville seemed to be exchanging angry words with the guy in the red hat. Ville picked up his glass and headed back to the bar, an annoyed look on his handsome features.
"Here comes loverboy." Sara teased. "Try to find out if he's bi and if he knows what's wrong with skater boy." Before Heavenleigh could ask how she was expected to find all that out, Sara had left, shutting the door firmly behind her.
