The warm rays from the sun peeked through the window and right into my face. I grunted and turned to the other side, closed my eyes and wanted to go back to sleep.
“Kristy, wake up! Breakfast is ready” my mom yelled from the bottom of the stairs.
“Be right there,” I growled back to her.
I took a look at my clock and it was 7:30 am, way too early for me. I had to start a new school today, and not just any school, a new High School. God this just wasn’t my week. To begin with, my mom and dad told me we had to move from New York to Huntington Beach. You would’ve thought I’d be happy to move to a warmer place, but I wasn’t. I just wanted to stay in New York and finish high school.
I stumbled out of my bed and went into the bathroom to get ready for this oh so perfect day. I showered, did my hair and make up, and got dressed. I put on tight fitted blue jeans, a black tank top and my favorite black flip flops. I grabbed what was supposed to be called my new book bag and went downstairs to the kitchen.
“Morning sunshine!” My mom had always been a great morning person
“Yeah it’s morning alright,” I said and obviously I didn’t inherit the morning thing from my mom.
“Dad’s gonna drive you to school, so hurry up with your pancakes.” Mom brought me a plate filled with pancakes
I ate what I could and a few minutes later, my dad came down to the kitchen and got himself a cup of coffee. He sat down in front of me with his newspaper, coffee and toast.
“So, a new school huh?” he said behind the paper
“Yeah, thanks to you,” I mumbled into my pancakes
“Now, now, don’t be like that Kristy, I’m sure you’ll make plenty of new friends here and forget all about New York.” He didn’t even look up from the paper, he was so sure of himself
After breakfast dad drove me to school. All I could think about was that I couldn’t wait to get my drivers license. Then I wouldn't have to have dad drive me to school every single day. When we got to the school it looked like the normal, all American high school with its gangs and clicks. How I hated those things. I said my goodbyes to my dad and got out. I knew I first had to find the office and report in but I had no idea how to get there. Maybe I should just ask for help but from whom? It’s important to make a good first impression. So I had to make a good pick in who to ask for help, it could determine my social status for the rest of my school years. I thought carefully on what stereotype I was and all I could come up with was that I was a prep. I didn’t like that stamp cause I wasn’t a prep at heart; I just looked that way. In my heart was nothing but rock, metal, punk and rebellion.
I made my way in through the big doors to the school and I could feel all those eyes on me. I thought I knew what they were thinking: “Ahhh new blood.” Yeah, that’s what they were thinking. Then I saw a group of girls by the lockers. They looked like me by the way they dressed. One was tall and blond with blue eyes. she looked like a cut out from a fashion magazine. Another had brown hair and brown eyes, a cute little thing cause she was so short. The third one was a redhead but not the ugly red hair, you know what I mean. She was kind of in the middle of the other two. So I gathered up the courage and walked over to them.
“Hi, my name is Kristy and I just moved here, so I was wondering if you could help me find the office so I can report in.” I thought I heard my voice shaking, but I guess it wasn’t cause the girls looked me over and smiled and the blond-haired girl that looked like the leader of the pack spoke out.
“Sure, we can do that” she said with a great big smile. I actually felt welcomed. “I’m Jane and this is Amber (brunette) and this is Cleo (redhead)” she pointed them out and they both had a smile on
I said my hellos and they walked me to the office where I got my curriculum. The girls were really nice and I had a few classes with Jane so she decided I should just hang out with her for the rest of the day.
First period was history and I hated history. Jane and I walked to the classroom and I was telling her all about my old school and where I came from. We went in the classroom and sat down, we were still talking when I heard loud laughing and I saw a bunch of guys infront of the classroom. Jane leaned into me and whispered.
“Those guys are nothing but trouble, so I would just stay clear of them if I were you”
I nodded but I couldn’t help but keep watching them as they stood out there talking. They looked like they were having the time of their lives. I studied them and I have to say they were all kinda cute. One of them was really tall, taller than the others, and slim and had just the cutest little smile and dark hair. From where I was sitting I couldn’t see his eyes. One was a little shorter and more muscular; he had black hair and wore aviator sunglasses. I couldn’t help but laugh a little since he was inside and really didn’t need them. The 3rd guy was kinda short and had a mowhawk. I kinda liked that; it showed he wasn’t scared of being who he was. The 4th guy was somewhat medium height and a little muscular. His hair was black and I could see a hint of purple in it. Then I noticed the 5th guy. He was tall, but not as tall as the first one, muscular and had long hair. I liked the way he dressed too--he had on fitted torn jeans, 3 belts around his waist and he wore a Jack Daniels shirt. As I was looking him over he turned to face me and smiled. I blushed a little and quickly turned back to Jane. She had obviously been saying something I didn’t hear.
“So will you?” she broke my trail of thoughts.
“Huh? Umm yeah sure” I had no idea to what I was agreeing, but it couldn’t be that bad, or could it….?
