Gerard couldn’t concentrate on the task in front of him. He was supposed to be organizing his CD collection so that he and Mikey could find what the wanted quickly but all he could think of was Bert. He was organizing the CD’s alphabetically and had gotten to the U’s. As he picked up The Used’s album he was flooded by memories of his old friend and the pain of not talking to him anymore. Nobody would ever know exactly what went wrong between the two of them, but one day the were best friends and seen together at many different events, and the next Bert wouldn’t even sing the line in “Take It Away” that mentions My Chemical Romance.
Gerard was so lost in his pain and memories that he didn’t notice Mikey walking into the room and sitting down on the bed. Mikey knew that his older brother usually liked to be left alone when he was hurting, but it killed him to see his brother like this and wanted to help him get over the pain of losing Bert. “Gerard is it okay if I join you?”
Gerard gasped at the sudden question and turned around to see his brother staring at him with worry in his eyes. “Yah Mikey it’s okay. I was just alphabetizing our CD’s so we don’t waste so much time, and I just got distracted when I saw Bert’s. It’s just that we were so good together for so long and all of a sudden he won’t even talk to me or anything. We were lovers Mikey, I don’t know if you ever knew about that, but we were sleeping together for a couple years and for him to just walk away killed me, I almost started drinking again I was that low.”
Mikey’s heart broke at Gerard’s confession. He knew Bert and Gerard had been sleeping together, hell anyone could have heard that every other night in the bus’s when they were on tour together, but he didn’t know that Gerard had almost slipped back into his abusive tendencies when he and Bert broke up. “Gerard, I know you loved him, but maybe it’s better that you’re not together anymore. We made the best album we’ve ever done after you guys broke up. You’re looking better than you ever have, and your lyrics are deeper, more heartfelt, and more amazing.”
“I would give up all the success we’ve ever had to get Bert back, or at least have him talking to me again. I miss him so much sometimes that it’s all I can do just to get out of bed and play a show. It was getting easier, but seeing this CD just brings it all back, all the good times, the tours, the…..” Gerard blushed and didn’t finish the sentence but Mikey was pretty sure he got the gist of where that was headed; anyone who was in the bus when Gerard and Bert were “playing” could tell they had a pretty amazing sex life.
“Gee come on, let’s go out and see the guys, it’s been a few days since we were all together and maybe a night on the town will take your mind off of things…come on let’s go dancing! There’s a great new club that just opened…lots of heavy rock and cute guys and rocker chicks. Please, Gee I really think you should get out of the house for a night, away from these pesky CD’s.”
Gerard really didn’t want to go out but Mikey was very hard to say no to. “Alright Mike I’ll go but please don’t be surprised if I want to leave early without dancing or talking with you guys much…I’m just not feeling too social right now.”
“That’s fine Gee I’m just happy getting you out of the house once in awhile. I’ll call the guys, you go shower and make yourself handsome.” Gerard groaned in response and headed towards the bathroom. Maybe going out for the nigh wasn’t such a bad idea after all he thought as he turned on the water for his shower, it had been awhile since he and the guys had just gone out for fun, and he really was interested in the new club.
