Goodness me I’m a loser!
This was a quickie I wrote in like 10 minutes, so forgive me if it isn’t that good.
I’ve spent 3 straight days in mourning of a guy I’ve never met before in my life. (But boy does this guy deserve more than 3 days mourning)
hide, sorry for being 10 years late.
I only discovered the guy a few months ago, and only 3 days ago I found out HOW he died and SAW pictures of his funeral and such.
Then I went and cried and felt ultra-lame.
Then I wrote a song. (which was good)
Then I wrote this. (which is depressing, which I couldn’t help but feel ultra depressed when I wrote this)
hide was great.
hide was one of the best.
hide’s spirit shall live on forever in all our hearts.
hide, may you rest in peace.

‘Yoshiki?’ Gackt entered his band-mate’s hotel room.
Yoshiki had left the door unlocked – there was no need to lock the door, the 4 of them were sharing a 4-bedroom suite.
‘Gackt.’ Yoshiki acknowledged his friend, though keeping his eyes out the window of his room, looking up into the blue sky.
‘It’s 9am. We have to leave soon.’ Gackt reminded Yoshiki.
‘I know.’ Yoshiki said.
Gackt entered the room, worried – Yoshiki was usually cheerful, this morning he hadn’t come out of his room though Gackt, Miyavi and Sugizo knew he’d been awake since about 6 that morning.
‘2nd of May… today…’ Yoshiki said as he felt Gackt sit on the bed next to him.
2nd of May, the day the great musician and a good friend Hideto Matsumoto died in 1998.
‘Yoshiki…’ Gackt placed a hand on his friend’s shoulder and gave him a squeeze.
‘I’m okay…’ Yoshiki managed a sad smile, though he didn’t direct it to Gackt, but to the perfect sky.
Sugizo and Miyavi, who had been wondering when they were going to leave the hotel to go to their scheduled interviews for the day decided to join Gackt and Yoshiki.
‘Yo-‘ Miyavi stopped himself as he entered the room, seeing Yoshiki who stared emptily into the sky and Gackt who just sat there quietly.
Sugizo nodded to Miyavi before they entered the room together.
Miyavi took a seat next to Gackt as Sugizo took a seat next to Yoshiki.
‘2nd of May.’ Sugizo nodded knowingly to Yoshiki, who finally shifted his eyes from the sky to look at his three friends sitting around him.
‘May he rest in peace,’ Miyavi smiled a sad unusual smile, looking a little awkward – he hated it when people are sad.
‘Pink Spider sora wa yondeiru…’ Yoshiki half-sang, his eyes onto the sky again, this time the tears had fallen.
Sugizo placed a hand on Yoshiki’s other shoulder and gave him a squeeze. ‘Ten years exactly, isn’t it?’
‘Hm…’ Yoshiki nodded, now staring down at his feet, watching the tears drop onto the crimson carpeting. ‘Where would he be now if he’d held on?’
‘He’d be on top.’ Gackt nodded sympathetically, feeling his heart drop with the other’s hearts as they remembered a great musician.
They left the hotel about half an hour later and headed for a radio station interview in the heart of the city.
‘Do you think… he really meant it?’ Yoshiki asked the question for the billionth time. ‘Meant for it to happen like that… we had plans, we…’
‘Yoshiki…’ Miyavi who sat next to Yoshiki in the limo wrapped his arms around his friend’s shoulder, pulling Yoshiki close, letting him lean on Miyavi’s tattooed chest.
Yoshiki sobbed. ‘Here I am, a decade’s past, still crying like a baby.’ He chuckled.
Gackt glared at him, thinking how stupid he was for thinking it was silly to cry. Ten years, twenty years, a life-time, it didn’t matter. They were close, Yoshiki had every right to cry. It wasn’t silly.
Sugizo stared emptily out the shaded window.
‘You remind me of him sometimes…’ Yoshiki said to Miyavi, who stopped stroking his friend’s hair in surprise.
‘Me?’ Miyavi asked to make sure.
Yoshiki nodded. ‘You’re colourful. Vibrant. Fun. A great guitarist – no offence Sugizo.’
‘None taken.’ Sugizo’s reply was almost inaudible.
Miyavi blushed and looked at Gackt who nodded at Miyavi.
‘Miyavi.’ Yoshiki pulled away so he can look into his friend’s eyes. ‘Please don’t fly away…’ His eyes began to fill up with tears again and before any of them could say anything else, Yoshiki was crying again, screwing up his make up even worse that before.
‘Are you sure you’re okay for today’s schedule… I mean we can always reschedule.’ Gackt placed his hands on Yoshiki’s knees, looking him in the eye.
Yoshiki nodded.
‘Driver, take us back to the hotel please.’ Sugizo said suddenly.
‘Sugizo, I’m okay.’ Yoshiki wiped the tears off his face with the back of his hand.
‘No you’re not.’ Miyavi rubbed his friend’s arm. ‘We can do this some other time.’
Yoshiki looked to Gackt apologetically – Gackt was a perfectionist and rescheduling appointments could sometimes be a sign of some lack of perfection.
‘It doesn’t matter. There’s always another day.’ Gackt smiled.
Yoshiki looked a little relieved. ‘Thank you… all three of you…’
They all nodded and smiled at Yoshiki’s tear-stricken face.
‘Yoshi-chan.’ Miyavi added. ‘I won’t fly away, I promise.’
