Nikki Blonsky sighed wearily, as she realised the last premiere for Hairspray was almost over. She and Zac would have to attend two more interviews in the morning, then it would all be officially over.

They had all just finished posing for a group photo, when Amanda took Nikki to one side, unknowing Zac and Vanessa, Ashley and Elijah were within ear shot, and could hear everything being said.

Amanda told Nikki “Nikki, you’re not going to believe this, but I saw Vanessa screwing with Phillip Spaeth, before we went in for the movie.” Nikki looked at Amanda incredulously; as she asked “Didn’t he play Fender?” Amanda nodded.

Nikki frowned and asked “But how would she meet him, Fender was only a minor character?” Amanda replied “Phillip told a few cast members on the set, that he’s known both Vanessa and Ashley and the other High school musical cast members since the first movie. It was Zac who recommended him for the role of Fender.”

She added “Nikki, you need to tell Zac that Vanessa is cheating on him.” Nikki shook her head, unknowing that both Zac and Vanessa were looking at each other very darkly. Elijah and Ashley were eyeing Vanessa in disbelief and Zac in sympathy.

Nikki told Amanda, firmly. “No, Amanda, I’ve haven’t got to do any such thing. I’m not going to get involved in their relationship issues; it isn’t any of my business in any case.”

Amanda looked at the younger and shorter girl in shock and exclaimed “But you have to, he needs to know exactly what kind of cheating skank he’s dating.” Nikki continued to shake her head and replied “If Vanessa is a skank, then so must I be as well then.”

Amanda frowned puzzled and commented “What do you mean, how can you be a skank Nikki, when you told me that you’ve not even slept with anyone yet?” Amanda became alarmed, when she quickly spotted the tears welling up in Nikki’s warm and dark brown eyes.

Nikki’s voice cracked, as she revealed “Not anymore. Not only have I slept with someone, he also has a girlfriend.” She added “And the reason why I refuse to tell Zac anything about Vanessa is because he hasn’t got a damn leg to stand on. Not when you take into consideration that he has gone and done exactly what she has. So I guess they’re cheating on each other. And when you think about it, their relationship is a farce, manufactured by Disney.”

Zac was horrified; he could not believe he was hearing such things coming out of Nikki’s mouth. She was his best friend, maybe even more, at least she was to him, he had no idea how she felt about him.

Vanessa on the other hand was fuming, fuming because it hurt to hear what Nikki was saying, knowing everything she said was true. Her and Zac’s relationship really was a manufactured farce, courtesy of Disney. Plus she knew she could not be mad at Zac, as she too had cheated on him, only a matter of hours a go. Amanda had seen what she had, it was true.

They listened as Nikki and Amanda continued to talk, still oblivious to the unseen audience they had. They heard Amanda asked Nikki “Nikki, how do you know Zac is also cheating on Vanessa. Were you there, and caught him in the act?”

Nikki laughed, it sounded terribly bitter, causing everyone who heard it to cringe. It was an awful sound, especially coming from such a lively and happy girl, that Nikki is.

Nikki’s reply shocked the others into complete speechlessness and Zac to flush and lowered his head in shame and regret at the pain in her words. He had caused that pain, and hadn’t wanted to be the one who made her cry. When she hurt, he hurt, when she was happy, so was he.

“No, I didn’t catch him in the act. I was there; I was the one who he cheated with. This is why I am skank, if Vanessa is.” Amanda choked out “You and Zac slept together, he was your first?”

Nikki sniffled and replied “Yeah, he was. I guess once is all it ever takes to kiss your virginity goodbye.” She added “I don’t understand why he even slept with me. I did because I figured he doesn’t feel the same about me, as I do about him. I just wanted one night with him, just one, before I continued to be just the best friend, nothing more and nothing less.”

She concluded “I always imagined my first time with the prefect guy. The perfect guy being someone I’m in love with and who is in love with me in return. I guess I got part of that, I love him, but he doesn’t love me in return, not like I do him, never like that.”

She choked on a sob “It should have never happened it only makes it more difficult to be around him, knowing it can never and won’t ever happen again. I won’t let it, I really won’t.” She added “Not only is this whole thing a mess, I discovered I’m three months pregnant. I guess it only takes once, doesn’t it.”

Amanda gasped and placed a hand over her mouth. She asked “Oh my god, Nikki, why didn’t you two use anything?” Nikki sobbed “It was the heat of the moment. At first he was telling me that things have been seriously off between him and Vanessa and he was sick of it all. I was comforting him, then the next thing I know one thing leads to another, and bang, I’m right where I am now.”

Amanda was stunned. Nikki was pregnant, and Zac was the father. She asked “Who else knows, as I’m guessing Zac doesn’t know does he?” Nikki shook her head and replied “No, he doesn’t know. I’m terrified. How am I going to tell him, I refuse to be the one who finally breaks up that farce of a relationship?”

She concluded “And only my parents, and now you know. I want to keep it like that. The press would have a field day. Not only that, it would end with Disney on Zac’s case, and all of those stupid Zanessa fans trying to attack me, calling me a slut and a relationship wrecker. Huh, their relationship was a shambles before I was even friends with Zac.”

Amanda placed her arm around the shorter girl and told her. “Ok, lets get out of here, before the press start taking pictures and asking questions. The last thing you need is to end up being the news, especially not for this. Come on, we’ve done our rounds, its over. I’ll take you home, just let me say goodbye to Elijah, and that I’ll meet him at his apartment later on.” Amanda told her to wait where she was.

Mean while Vanessa, Ashley and Elijah were eyeing Zac in shock. Zac looked like a mere feather could have knocked him off of his feet. His face was terribly sickly pale, and his hands were trembling at his sides.

He eyed Vanessa who was looking at him sadly and with a little hurt as well. She walked up to him and spoke to him lowly, so only he could hear, and not anyone else. “Go and see Nikki tonight, then come to me in the morning and we’ll talk. Its time we cleared the air, and ended this farce. Nikki is right, this is not a relationship, it’s a farce created by Disney for the fans.”

She added, and held up a hand to stall his protests, as his mouth opened to deliver those protests. “No, Zac listen, she needs you, and that baby once its born is going to need you to, but I don’t. You’ll always be a dear friend to me. But this has to end now. We’re both obviously in love with two different people, me with Phillip and you with Nikki.”

When Amanda turned the corner, she froze, as she took in the sight of Elijah, Vanessa and Ashley, standing there. Ashley and Elijah were clearly in shock. Vanessa, much to Amanda’s shock actually looked sympathetic, she was whispering something to Zac, who looked sad and guilty and more then a little pale. But the main point was that neither looked angry at the other, which Amanda had not been expecting from either Zac or Vanessa.

But that wasn’t what made Amanda freeze, and pale. No what caused this, was the fact the twenty year-old guy in question, Nikki’s perfect guys was standing there, looking as if someone had just punched him in the stomach. Amanda was also surprised to see the pain and the sheen of tears in Zac’s blue eyes, as Vanessa looked at him sympathetically.

Amanda clear her throat and asked “Zac can I talk you alone for a moment, please?” Zac nodded and followed Amanda away from the others and Nikki. Once they were relatively out of sight she asked Zac. “Zac, how do you feel about Nikki? I’m guessing you do have some kind of feelings for her, if your reaction is anything to go by.”

Zac wearily scrubbed a hand across his face and said “Yeah, I care about her, more then care about her. I feel the same as she does. I’ve felt like this since filming for Hairspray finished. But I never said anything, because I’m supposed to be with Vanessa, who I had no idea she was cheating on me.”

He concluded, pinching the bridge of his nose, sensing a headache coming on. “This puts it all in a different respective for me. Fuck Disney. Vanessa and I are going to have to part. I can’t keep up acting as if I’m with the girl I want; when I know the girl I want doesn’t even think I feel the same as she does.”

Amanda couldn’t keep the smile off of her face. It looked like Nikki was going to get her man after all. Amanda said “Ok, you have got to break up with Vanessa and tell Nikki how you really feel. This is tearing her apart, and she’s pregnant, as I’m sure you are aware of, having already over heard.”

She added “Besides, next June we’ll be all starting the sequel for Hairspray, and you and Nikki can’t afford to have a tension between you. Your Link and Tracy, if you and Nikki are at odds, it will affect your performances. Link and Tracy are in love, and not in the middle of a lovers spat.”
