Prologue
"Quinn, Roberts wants to see you in his office, ASAP." A woman said to the young journalist as she finished typing up her latest article for the next issue of 'International Culture Magazine'. The well known magazine was rather popular with teenagers and young adults due to the fact that it had music and fashion sections from many countries around the world each month. Quinn Calliway pushed some of her now short light blonde hair out of her face. "Get some sun..." The woman added before leaving the younger woman alone and typing a few things before telling her computer to print her pages. She stood up and fixed her tight pink shirt that hugged her body as she headed to the office of Michael Roberts, her boss. 'Maybe it's about the Japan issue coming out soon.' She thought as she walked down the hallway of windows and cubicles of her co-workers. She'd been secretly hoping for the chance to visit Japan ever since she started working at this job. Various pictures of animes and video games along with photos of Japanese locations adorned her small workspace. Her soft blue eyes came across a door that read 'Michael Roberts' and she raised a pale arm to knock a few times.
"Come on in." A voice said from inside the room. "You wanted to see me, Michael?" She asked as she opened the door and entered the office. "Take a seat. I've got something big for you." He said with a bit of smile on his face.
The young woman took a seat in front of his desk and grabbed at one of the Reese's minicups that he had in a large bowl on his desk. 'Ah chocolate... Sweet as sin.' She thought as she threw the small sweet into her mouth.
"Ok Quinn, I'm sure you know about the Japan issue we've got coming up right."
"Yes sir." She answered. She crossed her fingers behind her back.
"Well, I've thought long and hard about and I've decided..." He paused for a moment just to tease her a little. "That I'm gonna send you over there." He finally told her.
She couldn't hold back as she stood up and leaned over his desk. "Thank you Michael! I can't believe I'm FINALLY going to get to go to Japan!"
Michael chuckled a bit seeing her reaction. "Yep, you're one of the favorite reporters we have, I couldn't think of anyone better to take charge of this issue."
She let go of the older man and smiled. "Let me guess, Allen's coming with?" She asked, still having a huge smile of excitement on her face.
Michael nodded. "Your partner in crime is never far behind you after all is he?" He said with another smile.
Quinn giggled. She'd known Allen since high school, and the two had gotten a job at the magazine together. Allen had always been there for her and she'd always been there for him. "When do we leave? Where are we heading? Who am I going to interview?" She asked. She always went to many places when on assignment and interviewed many different people; the part she loved most.
"Two days time, Tokyo Japan and from what I wrote down here...former Malice Mizer vocalist, Gackt Camui." He answered.
The blonde girl froze. "THE Gackt? My absolute favorite singer in the entire world, Gackt?" She asked in a slightly unbelieving voice. Michael nodded again, still smiling sincerely.
"How the fuck did you manage to do that?!" She asked, her smile returning and her blue eyes shining with excitement once again.
"I may have pulled a few strings." he replied with a slight smirk and a chuckle.
Quinn forced herself to take a few breaths to calm herself down, her heart racing at the thought of meeting her dream idol. "Who else am I going to interview?" She asked.
"Well, others that you're interviewing are... Utada Hikaru and UVERworld." Michael answered.
"Sweet! I love those guys as well." She admit, trying to stay calm and professional.
"I can tell you're beside yourself so I won't keep you." Her boss said to her, seeing that she was clearly going to explode with excitement.
"Thank you, thankyouthankyouthankyou!" She said before rushing out of the office.
He chuckled again. "Such a nice girl." he said through his laughter.
The young journalist couldn't back her excitement and let out a loud happy yell, earning weird stares from her coworkers. She didn't care as she ran off to find Allen's workspace and tell him the news.
Meanwhile, Allen was doing what he always did in the spare he always seemed to make room for... sleep with his head on the desk. Allen was a boy of British decent and had slightly long black hair that he was letting grow. He had a cheap pair of glass hanging on the end of his nose and wore black pants with a royal blue button up shirt to look professional.
"Allen!" Quinn yelled, her voice sounding like that of a young teenager again instead of a mature woman of 24 years old.
Allen's eyes snapped open hearing his friend's voice and he quickly sat up. "I wasn't sleep boss! I swear!" He yelped as he started typing frantically on the keyboard in front of him.
"Allen! Allenguesswherewegetogotothistime!?" She said, speaking so fast that it sounded like gibberish at first.
Allen sweatdropped as he slowly spun on his chair to face her. "You know, hearing you talk like that reminds me of the British phrase 'The American's bastardized the English language'." He joked.
Quinn's eyes gave her best friend a warning glare. "You wanna repeat that?" She asked in a dangerous tone.
"So you had some news to tell me?" He said laughing nervously.
"We're going to Japan!" She said, returning to her excited state.
"WHAT!?" Allen yelped as he fell off his chair. "You're kidding me? Is this a hidden camera show that you're in on?" Allen said not believing her at first.
"Hell no. You think I'd kid about something like this?" She asked.
"Japan? Bloody hell, that's quite a big score... Buuuut I don't think I'll go." Her partner said sitting back on his chair.
"What?" She asked. "You can't be fucking serious, Al." She said, placing her hands on her hips. Her midnight blue nails contrasted and yet somehow complimented her pale skin and her pink shirt. She adjusted her black pants before tilting her head to one side slightly. Quinn frowned slightly but then smirked mentally and began to act as if she were leaving. "Ok then. I guess I'll have to go and interview Utada Hikaru all by myself..."
The boy stood up, a glint in his eyes. "Run that last part by me one more time..." He said to her. "Oh, didn't I mention that Michael put her on our list of interviews?" She said, playing cute and innocent with her best friend.
"Changed my mind! Bring on Japan baby!" He said spinning round again, his eyes on fire with excitement and an ear to ear grin on his face.
"I thought you'd see it my way." She said, turning back to him. 'Hook, line and sinker.' She thought. "Now finish up so we can head home." She said, looking at her watch. "I'm going to give Jasmine my article and head home after I grab some McDonald's." She said, placing a hand on top of her slim stomach.
"You got it! My night's gonna be sleepless tonight!" Her partner said gladly before typing like a blur to finish faster.
The American girl chuckled but shook her head as she headed back to her own office to gather her things and then head home.
Later that night, Allen buzzed the intercom on the outside of Quinn's apartment building. "Oh sweet partner of mine. It is I." Allen said in a sing song voice through the intercom.
Quinn looked up from her laptop and walked over to the intercom, pressing a button to allow her friend inside. Her apartment wasn't the richest place, but also not the cheapest. She made enough to support herself and found a nice apartment not too far from where she worked. "Come on up." She said before returning to her sofa and her laptop. She slapped her forehead when she saw him, a trait she'd unintentionally picked up from her animes. "Nani kore?" She asked.
"Hope you don't mind but I brought a few trinkets for the trip." He said as he set an armful of posters and other collectables of Utada Hikaru down on an available desk. "What are you working on?" He asked, looking at her laptop.
"I'm just downloading every Gackt song I can find onto my ipod." She answered. "Along with some of those 'teach yourself' language lessons. My Japanese is rusty since I haven't taken any courses in a while. Just a few reminders will have me speaking fluently again."
"Oh dear... That's something I hadn't accounted for..." He said with a wide eyed scared look.
She shook her head, not looking at him. "Relax, Al. I have a friend in Japan who's a linguistic. She's good with languages. She's agreed to act as our translator for the interviews."
"Thank goodness. Though it's a good thing Utada can speak English as well. I'd never stand a chance otherwise." Allen said wiping his brow with relief.
"Yes. Lucky for us, she's half American and bi-lingual." She said. "That's one reason why we're going to interview her first."
Allen grinned like a teenage fanboy. "Oh I'm so excited! Me, seeing Utada after watching her on screen for so many years. Oh I'm feeling faint..." He said dramatically and laughed a little. "That reminds me." He said pulling a thermo flask from behind his pile of CD's. "I brought my famous English brew of Hot Chocolate." He said grinning. Allen himself was more partial to sugar than just chocolate, but his drink combined both their favorite treats.
"You're the best." She said with a smile as she listened to the song 'Redemption' begin to play so both of them could hear. She smiled and leaned back into her sofa. "I love this song."
"I remember this one, this was the first Gackt song you told me about. It's what got me into him as well." Her friend said leaning back and taking a sip of his hot chocolate.
"Yeah... They used this song for 'Dirge of Cerberus'." She remembered and yawned slightly.
"Oh? Are you tired?" Allen asked her, leaning closer to her a little like a concerned friend would, he was a little protective of her after all.
"I guess. Feel free to crash on the couch." She offered as she picked up her dinner and her laptop before heading back to her room.
"Thanks a bunch." He said with a smile and laying back on the sofa.

The Japanese idol stole a glance out the window breathing in the sweet chill air, his eyes glazed as he contemplated his delicious meal. Earlier that day, he’d received word that a pair of Americans were coming soon to interview him for their magazine. He’d been given the details and dates for the interview. He’d agreed to interview at his own home for his comfort.
'An American pair... hmm... perhaps I should be wary around them. Oh... if there is a woman it will be hard to control my hunger... Both hungers.' He thought with a sly smirk, his tongue gracefully lapping the last of the blood from his lips. 'Over 400 years and yet so much has changed... and yet stayed the same.... Such memories..'
He looked at the woman on the floor. Such a willing meal, his senses filled with the scent of her blood. Still he hungered, it was persisting... his body unaccustomed to this persisting hunger drove him to finish her. Ivory fangs pierced the flesh once more drawing in every last drop till the woman was as pale as the moon. His hunger sated, he took the limp form of the woman once known as Kirichen and cast her body into the dark waters, a pity really. One as beautiful as she couldn't understand the true nature of his beast within and of the music of night that he spoke to her of. The eternal night in his heart, so loved and yet alone, a suffering known to few but him, the beloved idol Gackt Camui. How much longer could he go on? Bereft of such affections that he craved, how long till the void was filled?
The long night was calling him deeper to the darkness of his own solitude, there was no one left... no one to understand... no one to love the night creature he was. Eyes turning to the silent stars, he gazed to the stoic lights, 'Please... send me someone who understands, I don't want to be alone any more.' the wind seemed to answer, 'You are not alone'. Gackt turned his head trying to find the source of the haunting voice, and saw nothing.
The subtle scent of roses wafted through the air intoxicating his superior senses. He could almost feel the skin of another there. Arousal grew within him, sending a shudder through him. His lips parting in anticipation of blood but his fangs found no flesh. He sank to the ground almost pained by the wind's erotic hints.
