A/N: Okay so apparently the story somehow got deleted, but here goes trying this again. It's still no further along than it was before, and sorry for that, but blame my Shakespeare professor for the MASSES of homework (I literally spent almost NINE HOURS straight doing homework last night) - it's insane. But anyways, here goes the story again - perhaps this will make me write and update more. *hugs* Enjoy ... again ...

“What?!”
Rebecca sat with her husband at the larger than normal family Christmas gathering. Not only was it her immediate family with her mom and brother, but now it also was extended to Ivy and Patrick (obviously), along with Ryan and Cat with several of the other guys in the bands. Gabe and April were due to show up, if April felt like moving that was. With April due any day now, the couple had been a little reluctant to travel too much.
“The label’s pushing for the new record, and now they asked for our help on getting it finished up. So it’s Vegas for at least a few weeks ... maybe a few months, actually.”
Ivy glared at Pete as he tried to explain what was going on. Becca could understand Ivy’s frustration at the news. After all, there wasn’t really any telling if she would be able to go with them to Las Vegas with her own baby due in a few months.
“Well you boys better have already sorted out some place to stay because I guess this means I’m flying out after my next doctor’s appointment. With or without Dr. Settle and Sophia’s permission. Don’t even try to argue, Peter!”
Becca shook her head with a giggle seeing the beginnings of yet another argument. They were all more than accustomed to the two bickering, even more so with Ivy pregnant.
“Reby, are you okay with this? I mean you still have school in the spring, so I wouldn’t want you to give up on that. Especially since it’s your last semester.”
“Patrick, it’s okay. There are plenty of colleges in Vegas, I’m sure. And it’s mostly just internship anyways. I’ll be fine. Besides, I would hope you’re not trying to get rid of me after only two months.”
Patrick laughed and gave her a light squeeze. It made him feel good to know that even the sudden mention of having to move that she was still with him. Because the life of a musician wasn’t always the most conducive to relationships, especially marriage. But they seemed to be lucky with each other.
“So you’re moving to Vegas too?” Cat had turned from watching the verbal sparring match between Pete and Ivy to make sure that her best friend was going to be joining her out in what had been her hometown for a little over a year now.
Becca nodded with a grin before being almost tackled in a hug from Cat. Both girls were no doubt ecstatic to have even more time together, and knew it would certainly be interesting to say the least.
“Oh my god, Becca! That’s great! And if you transfer to UNLV, we can graduate together! Even if you two get somewhere yourselves, you will still have to visit constantly. This is going to be amazing!”
As Cat squealed and threw her arms around her neck, Becca managed to keep from giggling at the expression on Ryan’s face. Although Patrick had to feign a cough to cover his own chuckle. But luckily for the guys, Cat seemed to be completely oblivious to them.
“Kitten, why don’t you wait to see if Patrick is finished with all the planning and such before you attack them with invitations?”
Cat turned and gave Ryan a mock glare before turning back to Becca. “Since the boys are so odious about our planning, why don’t we escape over here for a little while and let them talk shop?”
“Sounds great.” Becca laughed at Cat’s playful glare in Ryan’s direction before starting off towards one of the couches that had been semi-hidden by the tree and mountain of presents.
Both girls sat on the couch, and Cat giggled again in excitement. “Some first Christmas, huh? But oh my god, Becca! You and Patrick living in Vegas with us! This is going to be great! I wonder when you are moving out.”
Becca laughed, glad to see Cat this excited again, especially over something as good as this news was. “I don’t know, Cat. This was the first time I heard about it, remember?”
“Oh stop teasing. I just can’t wait!”
“Okay children, how about dinner? There’s plenty of food for everyone, and more than enough seats. Peter, don’t trample everyone else.”
All attention in the room turned to Mama Wentz as she spoke up from the doorway, her face still a little flushed from having spent most of the day bustling around the kitchen fixing every kind of food imaginable. Becca giggled as she heard her mom teasingly chastise her brother. The feigned look of innocence on his face was worth it as well.
In the dining room, they all somehow managed to crowd into the room and situate themselves around the table semi-comfortably. Cat still seemed to be excited about the prospect of them moving out to Vegas with her, and Becca giggled at the look on Ryan’s face.
Just as they were all about to start eating, the doorbell rang. Since she was the closest to the door, Becca hopped up to go answer the door, humming along as she went. She playfully barked back at her dogs who were put in a pin in one of the rooms not being used today before opening the door to see a slightly disheveled Ryland.
“What’s up, Guy?” Becca grinned as she motioned him in, using the familiar nickname ever since he had started the infamous Guy Ripley sketches.
Ryland seemed to be so distracted by his thoughts that he jumped at Becca’s voice. He rushed in, but still seemed to be acting a little awkward. “Oh, hey, Becca. Um, I don’t have much time, but I thought I should come let everyone know the news.”
At the mention of news, Becca’s curiosity was peaked, and apparently she wasn’t the only one. “What news?” Becca laughed at the sound of her brother’s voice from his seat at the dining room where he was trapped between Ivy and Mama Wentz.
Ryland motioned towards the dining room. “Might as well tell everyone at once.” He turned and hurried to the dining room and nodded in response to the greetings. “Sorry I can’t stay, but I thought I would come tell you about the news. Gabe just called me to tell me that April is having the babies.”
After the initial uproar had calmed, Ryland raised his hands to quiet the room again. “As far as I could gather, everything’s fine. Gabe asked me to apologize that they didn’t show up today, and to just let everyone know what’s going on. I would get everyone to come visit, but right now there aren’t many people allowed to be there. Not to mention the waiting room isn’t very comfortable.”
Ryland laughed before waving and heading back to the door, stopping just before leaving. He lowered his voice for a moment before talking to Becca again, not wanting to be overheard. “I don’t want to panic anyone, but Gabe also mentioned something about there possibly being some complications. April said something about trying to get you or Cat over to be there with her, but I’m not sure if Cat would be the best for it, given this past summer.”
Becca nodded as Ryland explained more of the situation. It was hard not to inwardly panic a little at the news, but she managed to keep calm. “Sure. I’ll just go explain to Mama. Besides, I was supposed to be there for support anyways. Thank you for dropping by to tell us. I’ll just go explain and I’ll head over as soon as I’m finished.”
“Explain what?”
Becca jumped as she if she had been caught doing something illegal and spun around, barely covering her mouth to hide the squeak from the shock. She relaxed, seeing it was just Patrick before turning back to Ryland to explain. Gabe might have wanted it to be kept from the others, but they should all know that there isn’t much, if anything, that Becca keeps from Patrick.
“Gabe didn’t want anyone to know this and panic, but there might be some complications with the babies. April asked for either Cat or Becca, and I thought it might be best to have Bec come over to the hospital for help. Gabe just didn’t want everyone to panic, but I’m sure he wouldn’t mind if you came along as well.”
Patrick gave Ryland an understanding smile, knowing that he probably wasn’t supposed to let too many people know, but had given in knowing the nature of Patrick and Becca’s relationship. Besides, knowing Becca, she probably would have needed a little help and support from Patrick herself. Ryland sighed before opening the door. “Sorry I have to run, but you know how it is.”
Patrick nodded with a small chuckle to keep up the appearances that Ryland was making to keep from making the others suspicious. After Ryland had left, he turned to Becca and frowned seeing that she still seemed shocked by the news and on the verge of tears. He walked over and wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close.
Becca leaned into Patrick’s embrace for a moment, letting her feel the familiar comfort in his arms. Just before she relaxed enough to let the worry retake her, Becca pulled back and smiled before turning back to the dining room, walking up to her mother with a smile.
“Sorry that me and Patrick have to run off for a while, but we both were sorta promised to help them. We’ll let you know as soon as anything happens. Bye, Mom.”
As soon as she went back into the hallway, Becca took the coat Patrick held out to her and slipped it on, rushing out of the door behind Patrick, not wasting any time.
