Disclaimer: This fic, HISF, is purely a work of fiction, from my own twisted imagination. I do not personally know any of The Becoming band members, and I do not profit from anything I write |
Big time disclaimer thing ;
Every song that is mentioned, quoted, thought of in dialect, or appears in text in any way, is by The Becoming, unless otherwise noted in the beginning of the chapter. It's all their work, most definitely the lyrics, which I might use now and then. I do not have any claim to any of their songs/work, though I do love them. I do not get anything by using their lyrics.
This is purely a work of fiction! I do not know any of the band members (Caleb Owens, Dustinn Lowry, Caleb Spicer, Kory Arcidino, Justin Carpenter) and I do not profit from anything I write, I don't get anything but kicks from it all. I own no rights to anything dealing with The Becoming, besides the fictional ideas my own twisted imagination comes up with.
ANYWAYS! Onwards!
A/N: The numbers are for reference. Check out the end of the chapter to see why I put them in. Chapter one, enjoy;

~ ~ Kory ~ ~
His skin was slick with sweat, his black shirt having long ago begun to stick to his body. His heart was pounding at a quicker beat than usual, an intoxicating feeling pumping through his system, as if it had made it’s way into his veins. His hands were doing what they did best; strumming at that sleek shiny body in all the right places, causing such lovely sounds to be made. Hmm, now this was living, and what a way to do it.
The lights flashed all around him as Kory and the other members of the band played their hearts out on stage, the crowd dancing or the fans singing along, the speakers blasting loudly, causing your body to feel every thrum of the bass. Their song was drawing to a close, the last few lines of the song being sung out by the two vocalists; I can’t see you, but I see the truth. This is the night that has no morning. (1) He watched as the long haired male to his far left licked his guitar; it was something Dustinn did at least once per performance. The last note that was plucked out of the guitars drifted off, until it was drowned out by the wild cheering of the crowd.
Their lead singer, his short hair looking tousled and damp with perspiration, threw his used guitar pick into the audience, laughing as a screaming fan girl caught it. He then grabbed his mic from it’s stand and stepped forward to touch some of the hands extended to him over the railing that kept people from jumping up on stage.
“Thanks so much for coming out tonight to hear us, you’ve been one of the best crowds we’ve had!” This was greeted by loud yells and whistles. Kory unhooked his guitar as Caleb continued, “We really appreciate it, and all the support you guys give us is just awesome! We’ll be over by our merch table, signing CDs and chitchatting, so hit us up if you want. Have a nice night!”
Someone bumped into his arm, causing his deep grey-green eyes to glance up. They were greeted to a smiling Dustinn, who was as sweaty as he was, and no doubt on a high from the concert they just finished playing. Dustinn was such a lively person, he was the one who always got so pumped up before a gig, and also the one who seemed to ride the highest high afterwards. Kory liked seeing the long haired male when he was like this; his eyes shinning, mouth stretched in a smile, his laugh ringing out. The dark haired man was pulled from his thoughts when the other spoke, “That was a hell of a show, huh Kor?”
Letting a smile stretch over his own lips, the taller boy nodded his head, “Yeah it was, D. Pretty kickass, but all the shows have been, eh?” He began working on his equipment once again as he continued talking, “Well, except for that club in, where was it, with that huge mean bouncer…?” Dustinn moved to help him, when a stage crewman stepped in and politely took over the job, leaving them to make their way backstage.
“Oh yeah, that place, somewhere in Iowa I think, they were not so nice. I would have loved to have dumped my drink on his shiny bald head at the end there.” Kory almost laughed at the expression on the older males face; it would have been interesting if Dustinn had done that, and he was sure that the long haired man would have found it to be very satisfying.
Any further conversation was stopped when his cell phone bleeped and vibrated in his pocket. Pulling it out, Kory glanced at the screen, reading the text that had popped up. “It’s Katrella.” (2)
He heard Dustinn huff softly, “What does the Blair witch want now? We just got done playing and she is already texting you. She basically forced her way backstage while we were getting ready, to hang all over you before the show, so she can‘t be that attention starved.” Kory knew well that the other male didn’t care much for his girlfriend, sometimes he himself didn’t like her very much. Especially at shows; she seemed to be even more clingy, chatty, and above all time-demanding, than her usual. For some reason, they were still together.
“She wants to know where I’m at. She says she wants to have drinks and hang out with us.” Kory didn’t tell Dustinn that she had made it clear she expected to stick to his side for the rest of the night and that she had also hinted that she would be pissed if he didn’t show up soon. Kat seemed to be annoyed with him lately, always whining that he didn’t spend enough time with her.
“Ew, hang out with her? You should just tell her you’ll be doing band stuff or something. Besides, I want you to come to the merch table with me, so we can sign things and get pics with our adoring fans! Come on, please Korbear.(3)” The grey-green eyed boy sighed to himself; he could hardly ever refuse Dustinn when the dark haired male called him that. What to do…? If he didn’t go see Kat right away, she’d freak on him later. But, if he went to see her now, she’d never leave him alone for the rest of the night.
‘Oh well’ he thought, ‘I’ll just have to deal with her later.’ Dustinn must have been studying his face to see what he would decide, for he smiled and began walking towards the door that led out to the open floor of the club. Kory shook his head, but followed; the older man always seemed to be able to read him so well. They stopped to exchange words with several people along the way, even posing for a pic or two, but finally made it to the table, which an orangeish-blonde haired male was already seated behind; black marker in hand, signing a poster for someone.
“Pudwud! (4)” The bright-haired head lifted at Dustinn’s greeting, flashing a grin before handing the newly signed poster to an awaiting fan.
“Hey guys, come to join me? Oh Kory, look out, your girlfriend is on a mission to find you and chain you to her side.” Dustinn snorted in laughter next to Kory, before stopping as the dark haired man glared at him.
“See, I’m not the only one who thinks she is some psycho.” Kory rolled his eyes. Neither Pud, whose name was really Caleb Spicer, or Dustinn liked his girlfriend, making up half of the four others in the band besides himself. Their lead singer, Caleb Owens, acted indifferent, though Kory believed that he somewhat agreed with the first two. And the remaining member, Justin Carpenter, tried to be polite and positive, and told the others to ‘just give Kat a chance!’
The dark haired male decided to keep quite, making his way to the other side of the table to join Pud, almost immediately getting asked for an autograph. Dustinn remained where he was, casually chatting or taking pictures with them, thanking them for coming, and urging people to buy things to support the band. Kory heard him teasingly remark to some fans, “Yes, buy stuff! It’s how we’re going to pay for the trip to our next show.”
Kory noticed a petite auburn haired teen standing near front of the table, trying to look at the merchandise. Two tall girls were obscuring his view, and he seemed unsure of what to do. Kory decided to purposely single him out, wanting to help. Besides, the girls had already bought their things and were just staying to talk, which wasn’t bad, but it was holding up other people interested in the merch.
“Did you enjoy the show?” Jade eyes flew up to his; it seemed he had startled the boy. Kory noticed out of the corner of his eye that the two girls were trying to get his attention, and didn’t seem to be happy over him talking to some “pipsqueak” behind them. He ignored them.
“Y-Yes, I did. Very much.” A small nod accompanied the second short sentence, while a soft blush proceeded the first, causing Kory to smile; the boy was kind of cute.
“I’m glad. Were you waiting to buy something?” He said this loud enough for the girls to hear, glancing for a brief moment at the items they held in their hands, then looking back at the boy, smiling kindly. Before he could get out a word, someone pushed their way in front of the boy. Someone who turned out to be none other than Katrella. Oh boy, she didn’t look happy, and the death glare she sent towards the two girls said that she was probably being overly jealous, and she was about to either cling or whine, or perhaps both.
“Where have you been? I texted you after the show to meet me for drinks and you never replied! I have been waiting for you forever, Kory. Come on, let’s go.” Just as she was about to come around the table and grab hold of his arm, a voice stopped her.
“Why don’t you let him decide what he wants to do, Katrella.” Dustinn said her name like he was spitting out venom as he gently pushed the jade eyed boy back up to the front. Ugh, he didn’t want to go with Kat, but did Dustinn need to start something right now, here, at the merch table?
Kat narrowed her eyes, “What? Why don’t you butt out, Lowry. I don’t believe I addressed you.” Tossing her hair over her shoulder, she crossed her arms over her chest, “Come on Kory, please. Let‘s go get something to drink.”
Almost surprised that the long hair male didn’t make a comment on her use of the word please, Kory tried to go with what Dustinn had said to him earlier, because it was true. “I was just doing some band stuff, Kat. I wanted to sign a poster or two, and I was going to help this guy get his stuff. I would-”
He didn’t even get to finish, before Kat piped up, “Oh, it’s always ‘band stuff’ with you! Hah, guy? I saw you with those two girls….” She looked like she wasn’t sure whether to be upset or worried. He’d better talk this out with her before they caused a big scene out here. Moving around the table he took her arm.
“It’s okay, Dust. Will you help him for me while I’m gone?” He nodded his head at the auburn haired boy, who had watched everything happening with wide eyes. The older male didn’t look like he wanted to let Kory go off with the ‘Blair witch’, but he thankfully didn’t object.
Instead he wrapped an arm around the teens shoulders, cracking a smile. “Sure I will, Korbear.” Kory returned the smile, almost wanting to hug Dustinn at the moment.
“Thanks Dustybun. (5)” Smiled widening as he used the silly nickname he had for the shorter male. For some reason, he was Korbear. He believed it was something Dustinn had once said about him being snuggable, like a teddy bear. And following that, Kory had made a joking remark about dust bunnies, from which Dustybun was derived.
A tug at his arm reminded him why he had even used the name; Katrella. He still had to talk to her. Oh well, might as well get on with it. Waving a hand at the guys, he led Kat backstage, out the door on the back of the building; just the two of them. Kat looked…not herself. No doubt she was mad about something, but it was as if she couldn‘t decide whether to be have a raging but quick fit, or a calm but deadly one. When it was Kat that was concerned, that was not a good thing. So he did the boyfriend thing to do, but as he went to hold her, she moved away.
“You spend more time with the band than with me. Whenever I want to do something, you have to check with the guys first, or if you have something planned that is band related, you won’t consider changing plans. Two of your best friends hate me, and you never defend me when Dustinn practically verbally attacks me.” When he would have interrupted her to say something, she just held up her hand and continued.
“You drive all over for shows, so unless I tag along like some groupie or band-aid, I never get to see you. And you don’t always answer your phone, so if I don’t come with you, I won’t know how you are, or if a million girls are hitting on you.”
Silence. Just them and the moon illuminating their faces. Like their own personal spotlight for whatever would unfold.
“Well I’m tired of it. We’re done, Kory. I’m done with you.”
Silence. He wasn’t exactly expecting that. If he thought about it, it was a good thing, since they had never really been doing good from the start, and truthfully; he wasn’t really happy with her. But the reasons for it, her reasons. He loved the band; he lived and breathed music. The band always comes first. She made it seem as if his dedication to the band, his love for it, was wrong…
“Did you hear me, Kory? Are you even listening to me now, or are you thinking of things you could be doing with that stupid band of yours!” With that she jerked open the door and stomped back inside, leaving him with the moon.
Kory let out a sigh, tucking his hands into his jeans pockets. He didn’t want to think about this, not now. It was show night, he was supposed to be having fun. Hmm, maybe he’d go find Dustinn. Yeah, the long haired male could always cheer him up. Having decided, he made his way back inside, passing again through the door labeled ‘Backstage.’ He spotted Dustinn near the merch table, as before, and headed over to him.
No one asked Kory anything, but Dustinn did come over and rub his shoulder, causing him to smile his thanks. Eventually all the people left, and things died down completely, until it was time for the band to leave as well. They all piled into their car and drove the short distance to their hotel. He was rooming with Dustinn; as usual.
When they got into the room, the dark haired male sat down on his bed, not really doing anything until a voice broke the silence, “Hey Korbear, what happened?” He looked up to see Dustinn looking at him, appearing calm, but his eyes filled with questions and worry. “Katrella looked pretty pissed when she left tonight.”
“She broke up with me. But I’m okay with it.” He smiled softly, already knowing that Dustinn would know that he wasn’t really okay, but needing to say it anyways.
“Uh-huh, sure you are. What’s bothering you…you wanna talk about it?” The grey-blue eyed male moved closer, sitting on the bed next to Kory, comfortingly nudging him with his shoulder.
“She said I spend too much time with the band and not enough with her.” As he spoke, Dustinn’s head shot up in disbelief. “But it’s always been the band first. I thought she knew that and understood, but I guess not.” Kory blew a few strands of hair from his face, scuffing his shoe across the floor.
“Too bad for her then, she is the one missing out, a sweet hunky Korbear like you. I’d never let you go.” Dustinn sounded so huffy and was being so sweet, he couldn’t help but tease a little, maybe it’d lighten the mood.
“Oh really? Well maybe I should have dated you from the start, hmm, Dustybun?” Kory knew that Dustinn was bi, so he wouldn’t be offended by the teasing suggestion. He looked up when he didn’t hear the chuckle he expected. Dustinn looked…slightly stunned. But after a moment he smiled, head tilting to the side, as he teased back,
“Maybe you should have, Kor. You’d be better off with me than with the Blair witch. I wouldn’t leave you because you didn’t pay me enough attention. We’re around each other all the time, so no problem there.”
“And we always share rooms together.”
“And eat together.”
“But draw the line at showering together.”
“Unless we really were together, then we wouldn’t. We’d run about the room naked! Hey, that’d be fun. And we could kiss and talk about sex in front of the other guys to have them be all, Eww.”
Kory was silent as he thought about the kisses and sex. Well, there wasn’t any of either, but Dustinn mentioning it had got him thinking about it. What was it like with another guy? And then a thought came into his mind that surprised him; What did Dustinn taste like? How did Dustinn like to kiss? Would Dustinn like to kiss him? Wait! Where did that come from?
“Korbear?” The other males voice broke him from his thoughts.
“Oh! Huh?”
“What were you thinking about?”
Kory tried to fight the flush that crept into his cheeks. “Uh, nothing.”
The shorter males eyes took on a gleam. “Nothing? I don’t think so. Tell me, Kor, or I shall tickle thee!”
Tickling! That meant touching, which is what he had been thinking of, but he didn’t want to tell Dustinn that. What to do? He let out a yelp as he was tackled to the bed and he felt fingers near his side. No! No tickling. No touching!
“No! Please Dust.”
“Then tell me, Korbear.” Dustinn laughed and wiggled his eyebrows.
“Uhh, I was…er, thinking about..”
“Ahah, don’t try to think up a lie, mister.”
Then Kory decided; what the hell. His girlfriend had broke up with him, it was a full moon, very late at night, and he wasn’t exactly thinking clearly, plus he was curious. He looked up at Dustinn before lifting up enough to press his lips against the other males. He felt the long haired boy gasp against his mouth, then, they weren’t just tentatively brushing lips; they were full on kissing. A hot, wet, mashing of the mouths and slipping of the tongues, hands gripping at hair and clothing.
Kory wasn’t sure what they were doing, but he liked it. They’d worry about the talking later, for now, their mouths were busy. And boy was he happy with their current actions.

A/N: So there it is. I’ve been meaning to write the first chapter to this for a while now, but was sidetracked with AOT and other things. I went to work on AOT’s 3rd chapter today, and felt a little writers block with it. So after trying for a bit and only writing about a sentence more, I decided I needed to do something else until I could work on it later. This chapter was my ‘something else’ xD
I haven’t thought this story out too much. Don’t know how many chapters it’ll be or how long it’ll take me to finish it. I’ll update it and AOT whenever I can. Thanks for reading! I’d love some reviews!
