Family Ties.
Right, hello there, this is my first story on here, hope you like it peeps, please review me XX It’s set just before and during the American Idiot tour.
Chapter 1 - Pre flight checks.
“Du-ude!” said Mike to Tre “What was that!”
Mike had been waiting outside Tre’s house, picking him up for a last minute meeting at Billie’s before they headed off on tour. As he waited a woman had crept out of Tre’s front door and scuttled down the street, well Mike thought it was a woman, she appeared to be twice Tre’s age and, although he knew Tre would shag just about anything with enough booze and blow, when he was single, as he was now, that was low, even for him.
“Groupie” replied Tre, baseball cap pulled down so far Mike was surprised he could see.
“Geez Tre” he exclaimed “That was bad, man”
“Humph” was the only reply he got “C’mon, I want one of Adie’s breakfasts before Billie pigs it all”
Mike drove carefully through the streets to Billie and Adie’s house, it looked low key and unimportant from the outside, just how Billie wanted it, no one could guess that one of the world’s most famous bands thrashed out their musical ideas behind the cast iron gates. Mike drove through the gates and parked in front of the house, Billie’s dogs milled around, barking half heartedly at them.
They entered the house to the smell of several different types of food cooking and the sounds of an argument, apparently. Tre and Mike froze where they were, unwilling to barge in on a domestic.
“No way, no chance, not a hope in hell!” Billie sounded pretty sure of what he was saying.
“Billie…” a female voice retorted “You are a security manager short, I am qualified! I’m in the Force, I have been bodyguard to some of highest officials around the world, you know me, I can get a team together in half a day, and it makes sense! You won’t get another firm by tomorrow”
“How many fuckin’ times do I need to say it Rosie?” exasperation from Billie now “NO!”
“Give me one good reason” the female voice demanded, equally exasperated
“Because, qualified as you might be, you are my cousin and for a start, what goes on tour stays on tour”
“I can live with that” Rosie replied
Billie sighed “I can’t put you in danger, Rosie, it’s just not gonna happen”
Rosie snorted “Danger?!, Billie, I have worked in the worst hell holes in the world, and protected the best, if nothing else at least you know I can be detached and do my job, despite my personal feelings”
“Billie, she has a point” Adie, the voice of reason.
“This is nothing to do with you” Billie snarled
“Excuse me!” Adie sounded annoyed, Tre and Mike exchanged glances
“But it has got something to do with me! As a husband and a father, you have a duty to keep yourself as safe as possible, and what about Mike and Tre? Don’t they get a say? You guys can come in by the way” she called through to the hall “Stop hiding”
“Hi” Mike and Tre entered the kitchen sheepishly, Tre edging past Billie and making for the food, Mike taking in the woman standing opposite Billie. She was about 5’’11 and slim but with shape, a good shape, Mike thought to himself, newly washed blonde hair settled erratically around a heart shaped face, with the biggest blue eyes he had ever seen, hard with anger at the moment. Wearing a baggy top hid most of her upper body curves but the jeans she wore did little to hide the length of an extremely shapely pair of legs. Mike jumped as he heard a crash behind him, Tre had spotted her then, he surmised, as he heard Tre mutter an apology to Adie for dropping a mug.
“What’s up?” he asked Billie “Security firm pull out?”
“Yeah, due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’ they can no longer provide us with security”
“She’s got my vote” said Tre, immediately wishing he’d kept that thought to himself
“And that’s another reason!” Billie fumed, storming out of the kitchen and nearly taking the door with him.
“Leave him!” warned Adie to Rosie “I’ll speak to him, when he’s calmed down a bit, he’s always so worked up before a tour, he’ll see sense, the security guy needed protection himself when he called, I thought the ‘phone would melt!” she grimaced at the memory of Billie exploding as the manager of the security firm had told him they would not be providing security for the tour.
“Anyway” Adie continued “Rosie Miller, Tre Cool and Mike Dirnt, the other two sides of Green Day” she introduced them “Rosie is Billie’s cousin, she has come to stay for a few days”
“Hi” Tre wiped his hands on his pants to shake hands “Astounded to meet you, hope you come on tour with us, could do with a sensible woman to fight off those hordes of girls that plague me wherever I go” he said with a cheeky smile.
“Hey” said Mike “Ignore him, every bands got an idiot, he’s ours” smiled Mike
Rosie relaxed and laughed, soon laughing more as Tre, Mike, Adie and herself began to eat breakfast and get better acquainted, they all jumped as a smashing sound followed by a howl of pain echoed from the hallway, while the others gathered their wits, Rosie had unsheathed a gun, previously unseen by the others and stealthily crept into the hall. She moved towards the origin of the noise holding her gun outstretched in front of her she kicked the door open in front of her.
“FREEZE!” She commanded “I am armed!”
“What the fuck?....” Billie stood among the remains of his computer looking shocked
Rosie laughed as she put her gun away “What’s that computer ever done to you??” she chuckled, moving towards Billie, the others followed looking shocked, amazed and terrified.
“You’ve got a gun?” whispered Adie “In my house?”
“I’m sorry Adie, It’s always on me except when it’s locked in it’s case, and then the keys are on me, there’s no way the kids can get hold of it, but part of my job means I have to carry a firearm, wherever I am”
“Ok, ok” said Adie “But you could have told us, so we knew”
“It’s not the kind of thing you drop into conversation is it? Hi how have you been, oops mind my gun?!”
The small group filtered back through to the kitchen, Tre standing back as Rosie past.
“Is it me” he started to Mike “Or was that damn horny?”
Mike laughed “You have a one track mind Cool”
“Still” Tre replied “Damn horny” as he watched Rosie lean over the table to get some pancakes.
