Disclaimer: I do not know Elvis, this is a work of fiction, and I in no way will make money off of this story |
It was the late fifties, during a dark rainy November. It was starting to become colder and colder by the hour. I had been thrown out from my apartment after losing my job at a cafe. I stood on the streets of Memphis with one bag of clothes. I could hear the thunder coming. I stared up at the sky and groaned out with anger. Suddenly I heard something different... I looked to a shop full of televisions and could hear a soft melody playing. I walked over as others begin to gather. "A new song from Elvis." One commented as the others shushed her with excitement as he began to sing. It was soft like a lullaby and very sweet. I watched as he sang into his microphone. His hair slicked back and in a nice suit. "Love me tender, love me sweet." He sang. His eyes pierced into each of our souls and a gasp came from the crowd of girls. I stared and smiled slightly. It was just beautiful. As the song continued, the crowd got larger. All just stared at the screens. "for my darling, I love you...and I always will." My heart fluttered for the moment as the others began to scurry away. I smiled slightly and shivered as it closed into his face. The screens shut off suddenly as rain began to pour. I stared into the window and sighed as a man switched the open sign flipped to the closed side. I began my long walk along the street with my head hung low. The open signs all closed as I walked past. My brown hair covered and stuck to my face. I mumbled angrily as families drove by splashing me. Soon I came to the end of the street. I came down to the corner and sat shivering in the cold. There was nowhere I could go so there why not sit in the cold rain. The cars went past me as I watched hoping for a spark of light. Suddenly a wave of water overtook me and I sat in shock as the car drove on. Tears fell from my sad green eyes, but no one could tell...they looked like the rain that fell from the sky. The car that sent the wave slowly came around again. I wondered if it was some cruel person just coming around to do it again. It stopped though. Right in front of me. I wondered why this person would even stop. Maybe it was just to see the damage and laugh at me. I stared at the beautiful white Cadilac in front of me and shook slightly. The door opened and there sat a man with a smile on his lips. He was a bigger guy, but had kind brown eyes. "Get in sweetie." He said with a gruff voice. I looked around and blinked starting to get up. "I-I'm wet sir." I whispered the obvious. He shrugged it off and smiled. "Go ahead and get in. It's cold outside." He stated patting the passenger seat. I sat on the nice leather and stared at the ground. "Th-Thanks sir..." I stuttered. "Oh don't thank me. He was the one that saw you after we splashed you." The man said. I looked over to him with confusion. He nudged his head to the back and I looked over the seat. My heart skipped a beat and I stared eye to eye with a handsome blue-eyed man. "Well hello darlin'." Elvis said kindly.
