He could feel his eyes on him as soon as he entered the studio. He had a feeling that the other man knew, but then again, he could just be paranoid. That could be highly unlikely. Ryutaro knew the way Akira's mind worked. He scratched the back of his neck before bowing to his other bandmates in apology. "Gomenasai, minnasan, I didn't mean to be late." In the back of his mind, a part of him wondered what his nightly visitor would say after hearing that he had made Ryutaro late to practice.
Again.
There were murmurs from his bandmates, telling him that it was okay. For after all, what could they really say?
"Hey, you asshole, get your butt in here on time." ?
No.
If they ever were to say that to Ryutaro, he would know that it was either a nightmare or his worse fears confirmed. That none of them cared for his fragile psyche and just wanted to destroy it for their own sick amusement.
And that was another thing about that nightly visitor of his. He didn't treat Ryutaro like a child or something made out of expensive crystal. He didn't question rudely. He didn't skirt the subject. He didn't pretend to understand. did did understand. He seemed to be more of a safety blanket, like Tadashi, Akira and Full were except his nightly visitor was also a support beam, a healer and...
...One hell of a lover.
Not like Ryutaro had much experience in that field.
He shook himself out of his reverie, before the others noticed he hadn't moved from the same spot in five minutes. He placed his bag down in a corner before making his way to Tadashi. His friend smiled gently at him, looking relieved. Instantly, Ryutaro felt bad. He had to tell Tadashi what was going on. It was the least he could do. It would explain everything. Like why Ryutaro was prone to squirming when he sat every now and again, why he fell out of bed more than got out, why he was late to practice at least once a week and why he seemed to be in his own world rather than the one most others seemed to occupy.
One day he would tell Tadashi.
As soon as the full moon made her appearance in the sky, he'd do so. But wait, Tadashi was saying something to him. Eep. Pay attention, Tarochan.
"....and that's what we discussed before you arrived. Is it okay with you?"
What had they discussed before he arrived? He asked himself.
His conscience looked back at him and blinked. Why are you asking me? I was thinking about the same thing as you were!
Not good. Not only was he talking to himself--his conscience didn't even know what was going on!! Ryutaro tried to remember what Tadashi had told him and outwardly, it looked like he was thinking about it but his friend seemed to know him better than that.
"Is the set list okay? As you know, we're only allowed a certain amount of time, na? So...we chose these seven songs. What do you think?"
Ryutaro stared at the set list, idly reading off some titles to himself before he noticed the English labelling the entire list. Sweet Trance...
Already?!
Ryutaro found himself nodding to the songs. "They're good, Dashi. Did you want to go through these songs today?" Then he realized how stupid a question that was but bit his lip to quiet himself. It was his own fault anyway if Tadashi rolled his eyes at him and stuff.
But Tadashi didn't. In fact, he never did what Ryutaro expected. He instead, nodded, carefully nudging the vocalist over to the mic stand. The per person who ever did do the things he expected was Akira. And whether that was a good or bad thing had yet to be determined. Ryutaro took the microphone in hand and turned around to face his bandmates to sing. Usually, he would stare off at one of them--not really seeing them but watching them at the same time. This time he wasn't the one watching. Instead, he stared at the wall above Takashi's head, apart and above the rest.

Tadashi had come up with a theory.
For every Jrock band in existence, there were at least two in the band that seemed to give the leader problems. It was fine and dandy except for a few things. Tadashi was in a band, he was the leader and his vocalist and guitarist were the ones giving him some psychological problems.
Tadashi glanced up from his bass, glancing at said members of his band.
Akira was watching Ryutaro like a hawk. Ryutaro was oblivious, instead singing simply to the wall. There was a problem here. Tadashi turned away from them, nibbling on his lip in thought, easily changing chords as the song demanded.
Ah, the mysteries of life. Especially their lives.
Ryutaro usually was on time. Akira had his occasional spurts of lateness that Tadashi had learned to deal with. Akira never stared at Ryutaro like he was some sort of interesting bird before. Ryutaro never ignored Akira before. Tadashi winced, taking the advantage of the break in the song to scratch the back of his head. This doesn't make sense.
Asking them would prove fruitless. He knew that. Tadashi went back to playing before turning to catch Takashi's eye. The drummer blinked at him a few times curiously before nodding. Good. Hopefully, Takashi would take that as a silent message to talk to him after practice about the strange behavior of their friends other than a silent message for dinner.
Tadashi turned to catch a slightly dreamy look in Akira's eyes before glancing to Ryutaro, who looked like he had seen the most beautiful thing in the world. And he had a feeling it had nothing to do with the wall behind Takashi's head.
With the determined thoughts of finding out the secrets of his two band members, Tadashi nodded to himself and gave himself up to the music. He would deal with this later.

"Ja! Ashita mata ne!"
"Ja, Akira-kun," Ryutaro murmured, "Ashita mata." He gathered his things before giving a polite bow and murmured departure sounds to Tadashi and Takashi. The two waved to him, saying the same before they glanced to each other.
"Follow him."
"Right."
They both crept out of the studio, taking the stairs instead of the elevator only to see Akira one flight of stairs below them. They tiptoed down the stairs, making sure that Akira took no notice of them. They waited after he had departed into the lobby of the studio before they peeked out. The elevator dinged and they glanced over just to see Ryutaro walk dreamily out of it in time.
They watched him silently, unseen by him before they noticed that they weren't the only ones watching him. Akira was standing by some plant, pretending to be inconspicious (and was doing a worse job than they were). Just before Ryutaro reached the plant, Akira began walking out from behind it, trying to look casual.
Takashi's eyebrows rose. Tadashi tried not to snort.
They followed behind the two and stopped just as they got into earshot, hiding behind Akira's abandoned plant. Ryo pao passed by Akira without a word, until...
"Ne, Tarochan..."
Ryutaro jumped, startled, before turning and giving Akira a bright smile. "Hello, Akira." The guitarist caught up with Ryutaro, walking beside him. Tadashi and Takashi made their way out from Akira's plant, waiting for the other two to continue walking before following a good distance behind which allowed them to remain unseen but still able to hear what they were talking about.
"Where are you going after this, Tarochan?"
"Home."
"Oh. What are you going to do for dinner?"
"I suppose I'll cook something." Ryutaro replied, before tilting his head in thought. "And then I'll watch some tv...then fall asleep."
Akira nodded before he spoke up again, his voice a bit shaky. "I...Tarochan, we haven't been going out lately, do you want to spend some time with me? I mean, I won't have to cook or anything- -but we can go out to eat! So...so how about it?"
Ryutaro seemed to think about this for a minute before nodding. "Okay, Akira. I'll come with you."
Akira relaxed happily. "Good! So what do you want to eat?"
Ryutaro paused, then shrugged. "I'm okay with eating anything you can think of Akira-kun. However, you'll have to ask Tadashi and Takasincsince they seem very interested in joining us."
Takashi froze but Tadashi grabbed his sleeve and made him walk again. Yes, they had been caught but they didn't have to give away what they were really trying to do. Tadashi watched as Akira's face fell then looked away as the guitarist tried to fight the frown threatening to overwhelm his face. "Ano--" Takashi began, "I don't really--ow!"
"Ramen would be nice, ne, Akira?" Tadashi replied, smoothly as if he hadn't just elbowed his drummer in the ribs. Takashi squirmed a bit, rubbing at the injury which had just been inflicted on him before settling down. "We're okay with anything you have in mind." Except for having us leave, of course.
Ryutaro looked to Akira with a curious look. "Ne, Akira-kun, what's wrong? Are you sick? You don't look so well." Tadashi looked over to Akira, who was currently bent over and leaning against the side of a building. He almost felt sorry for ruining the guitarist's "date". Almost. But this was Ryutaro he was supposedly dating and Tadashi (b the the closest thing to a relative in this town) had to look out for him.
Akira straightened, coughed and shook his head. There was a fake smile plastered on his face. "I'm fine, Tarochan, but thanks for asking, ne? Let's..." He gave a faint sigh, which made Tadashi wonder if only he had heard it. "Let's go enjoy our dinner."
They followed Akira to his car. Tadashi and Takashi climbed into the backseat, allowing Akira to have a moment of happiness with Ryutaro in the front. Tadashi relaxed against the soft seat, leaning over a bit to the middle just as Takashi did. "Diagnosis?"
"Love in the first degree," Tadashi replied, smoothly, not liking this at all. It wasn't as if he disliked Akira having something for Ryutaro. It was the fact that Ryutaro didn't even know.
"Ah, sou desu." Takashi replied, leaning back. It was quiet in the car except for Akira talking to Ryutaro. A low question asked, then a soft reply. It was as if the other two didn't even exist. "So what are we going to do, Tadashi?"
What were they gonna do? Tadashi's brow furrowed as he thought before he shook his head. "There's nothing we can do. We can only watch for now. I don't want this band to fall apart because of this. But I don't want to accuse Akira of anything that he might be innocent of. So we'll wait. If he does something, then we act."
Takashi nodded in agreement before they realized something odd. The car had gone silent and Akira and Ryutaro were staring at them in the mirror. When they looked up, both guitarist and vocalist caught their eyes before Akira began to chuckle and Ryutaro smiled at Tadashi, a strange glint in his eyes. Tadashi would've wondered about it had it not been for Akira saying, "Could you two at least wait until you get home before you do stuff like that?"
Tadashi frowned, "Do what?"
"As if you didn't know," Akira muttered, a tiny bit of spite in his voice.
"Well as a matter of fact, we don't know," Takashi replied, innocently.
Ryutaro giggled this time before turning in his seat and giving Tadashi a smile he had never seen before. It looked mischievous and innocent at the same time. "Ne, Dashi, daijyoubu...we all have our secret romances. Right, Akira?"
Akira smiled and nodded, something in his eyes akin to hope and joy. Takashi nudged his leader about this. Tadashi made a noise in the back of his throat. Alright, so maybe Ryutaro wasn't so blind to this love at all unless Ryutaro had a crush on someone else and...
...Oh, what a soap opera this is turning out to be, Tadashi mused, inadvertedly moving over, away from Takashi and closer to the door. Akira chuckled and Tadashi shot him a glare. It's not like that, okay?! He thought at the guitarist, but Akira ducked his head, avoiding looking into the mirror.
It was a bit of a relief when Akira finally turned parked the car in front of the ramen shop. Unfortunately, that relief didn't last for long.
+++++
Tadashi knew that he would end up with a headache that day. He just didn't know what from. He almost wished he had known ahead of time so he could've just stayed in bed and avoided it all.
As soon as they had entered the ramen shop, Tadashi was about to take a seat next to Ryutaro. Nothing big, nothing special--they didn't havy spy special sitting arrangements considering each other but Akira had nudged past him and taken his seat. It wasn't the fact that it was Ryutaro he was sitting next to (well, that irked him a little), but it was the fact that the man had taken his seat. And then told him, "Ne, Tadashi, I'll sit next to Tarochan. You can sit next to Takashi, you don't have to be shy anymore since your relationship isn't secret."
Takashi's fists clenched as he plopped himself down on his chair and Tadashi began to massage his own temples. "Akira-kun, I appreciate your generosity but--"
Akira shook his head, beaming and Tadashi felt like throttling him. Today was not his day. "No, just sit down, Tadashi and enjoy, ne? I don't mind your relationship with Takashi."
"There is no relationship," Takashi piped up.
Akira went on, despite this, "You don't have to pretend anymore. Ryutaro, you don't mind Tadashi and Takashi as a couple, ne?"
Ryutaro smiled, his eyes filled again with some strange emotion in them and shook his head. "I don't mind at all."
"There is no relationship!!" Tadashi snapped as he sat. He took a deep breath trying to calm himself and Akira gave him a wicked smile. Takashi muttered to himself and was about to hand his leader a menu then thought better of it.
Soon Tadashi becamare are of silly little things like changing his order when he realized that Takashi was ordering the same thing. He ged ged away from Takashi liked the plague, vaguely aware that the drummer was doing the same and barely paid attention to the conversation at hand. Occasionally, he noted Akira trying to engage Ryutaro in some sort of conversation but mostly, Ryutaro would be staring off dreamily into the corner as if thinking about someone else. But Akira was persistant and had managed to get more than one word answers out of the vocalist, but Tadashi was too busy to trying not to look like he and Takashi were in love.
It didn't matter however, since the other two seemed convinced of it and Akira kept stressing the 'fact' of it to Ryutaro, who occasionally laughed and blushed a bit. It was hard to eat dinner, but Tadashi had choked it down all in the name of research and all that jazz. He had to find out what Akira had in mind for Ryutaro, but felt that he was failing miserably.
After what seemed like an eternity, dinner was over and the members of Plastic Tree were making their way back to Akira's car. There were no more discussions with Takashi over the strange behavior of their band members. Akira dropped them off and Takashi left with barely heard 'oyasumi'. Tadashi was dropped off next and he spent a few minutes outside, watching as the car drove off into the night with Akira and Ryutaro left alone in the car. Then his headache descended on him, driving him to seek comfort in his apartment with a bottle of aspirin and some water.
The gods have an uncanny humor, Tadashi mused, bitterly as he opened the door to his apartment and closed it, dropping his things on the floor. He removed his shoes hurriedly before lurching to the bathroom cabinet with his head in his hand. He opened the cabinet, grabbed the bottle of aspirin and shuffled into the kitchen. He poured some water into a glass, popped two aspirin into his mouth and drank it down. He threw himself lightly onto the couch, staring up at the ceiling before a thought occured to him.
It was a wild thought actually. Later, he admitted to himself that it was a very ridiculous thought brought about by paranoia and pain but it made sense at the time. Akira liked Ryutaro. Actually, like was an understatement. Akira knew Tadashi's methods of gaining information. There was something strange in Akira's eyes that Tadashi hadn't seen before and maybe...just maybe, Akira had pretended to think that Takashi and Tadashi were together. Maybe he had done it to throw the two off, to worry about trying not to appear in a relationship (which they weren't) and failing miserably, instead of discreetly spying on Akira and Ryutaro properly.
Tadashi's headache seemed to get worse as he thought up that conspiracy theory.
He didn't have a problem with homosexuality. He just had a problem with someone getting together with someone else in the same band. He had a fear it would tear the band apart. He sighed, knowing that no matter what he would do, that whatever happened would happen.
Still he had a hope.
"Ryutaro looked like he was in love." He said out loud, faintly. He had no idea why he had to say this and had no idea why the rest was simply thought out.
But who?
