She got everything she needed from the bedroom they shared and took it to the guest room. Over the next few days it was awkward. Steve who usually prepared breakfast, lunch and dinner, only made for himself. Sherrie refused to eat his food. She’d been on the run anyway for a place to stay. She finally found a place, where she would share with a roommate. She would miss the benefits of being Steve’s girlfriend, but her peace of mind was more important than living comfortably with material things. She was glad when she got home to find Steve wasn’t there. She would have loved to have seen his face, if he knew that Gregg was going to be her new roommate he would have blown a gasket. Gregg came with her to help her carry her heavier items. Gregg and Steve loved each other like brothers, but when Steve’s singing started overshadowing Gregg’s, the friendly competition turned to envy and hard feelings on both sides. Sherrie knew she was playing with fire, moving in with Gregg, but he was her last resort, plus she hoped it would be temporary. Either she or Steve would make amends, or she would leave the city altogether to start her life anew.
When Steve got home later that evening; all traces of Sherrie were gone. Steve went and crashed on the bed and tried not to think of the good times spent on it with her. To get his mind off of Sherrie, he poured himself into song writing and he decided to leave women alone for however long he could endure. It was hard; being in his position, women continuously threw themselves on him, offering him any sexual favor he desired. Anytime he thought to give in, he saw Sherrie’s face looming before him, and he thought about the consequences. He needed to prove to her that she came first. The last few days in the recording studio were better than the last time, as Steve became accustomed to Sherrie not being in his life, he was able to get into his music and hit the notes he was famous for, without his voice cracking from stress thinking about her. His band mates were respectful and tried not to bring up anything that reminded him of her. Neal knew that Sherrie was staying with Gregg, but he kept his mouth closed on the subject. Steve didn’t need added stress. Sherrie and Gregg had some things in common. What started out as being roommates, grew to trust and depending on each other. Sherrie found in Gregg what she didn’t in Steve. Gregg kept his promises and though she wasn’t in a relationship with him, she felt that he could be trustworthy in a relationship. Sherrie was still very much in love with Steve, and wasn’t looking to start a new relationship, until she was sure the chapter was closed with Steve. After a month, Steve finally asked Ross; where was Sherrie staying figuring he knew. He didn’t. His wife refused to tell him. “Well I know someone around here knows.” He challenged his band mates, who were anxious to get home and were tired of Steve sulking over Sherrie. No one said a word. “Steve, it’s late, and you arguing about the whereabouts of Sherrie aren’t solving anything.” Neal said. Steve eventually relented, and decided if he was going to get the answers he wanted, he was going to have to go to the fairer sex and do some sweet talking. Ross’ wife was tough; he knew he couldn’t get her to spill the beans, but Neal and Jon’s wives were different. Everyone knew they both had a small crush on Steve, and they sympathized with him, even though it irked their husbands. When talking to the wives proved fruitless, Steve called his mother for advice. She wasn’t available, so he spoke to his step-father. “Look son, that’s women for you, that’s exactly what she wants; is you crying and pining for her, there’s nothing wrong with that, just don’t let her know it.” “There are plenty of fish in the sea, as the saying goes. While she is cooling her heels, go do what young men do until she comes around.” Steve wasn’t so sure if that was the advice he should heed, that was one of the reasons he was in hot water. He was doing what young men do...........While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
